I have about 293mb free and want to see how I find out what is on the phone, switch it...if possible...to the SD card and free up some spaceon the phone itself.
Is this necessary on a Linux device like the Epic or not? I have red and heard conflicting things. If so, how do I do it? I am rooted.

Free space won't speed up ur phone. Only benefit of apps 2sd is that u can download a bajillion apps. U only need space if ur totally out.

Lol......agreed on another posters comment. Space on the phone means **** as far as speed
Edit; i guess you really said nothing about speed tho....i used mobile frostwire found the apps i wanted uninstalled apps from my phone ans installed the downloaded apps from my SD....hope that kind of helps anyway. I also am using a barebones kanged rom on here that's like 50mbs or so only used

Hi guys is there a good app that will free memory up as I was looking at what memory was free earlier and realised it was low at 118mb so alot was being used so I restarted and have 360mb spare. I realise that apps close themselves? So I medal good program to free some memory
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Are you having issues with speed, or are you just looking at your free memory and thinking tha 118MB is low?
Android is clever enough to make sure that it has enough memory to do what it is currently doing, so should you need more than 118MB for an app, something else will get closed down.
There is no point in closing down apps just to get more free memory. By closing apps that aren't ready to be closed you may end up causing more damage than good.
Well I do a bench mark test and get good results when more memory 's free and tbh I don't think it slows down when its got less RAM spare I just thought maybe things should be closed down

Mine sits at around the same figure. Don't worry about it, Android will handle it for you, shutting down apps as it needs to. Doing anything yourself will probably just have an adverse effect.
Ok thanks for feedback

Hi guys I'm new here I just wondering after our Arc get rooted and remove all useless stock apps how much internal memory left? Will it be more than 400MB? Lol
No
Sent via noahs ark
I removed pretty much all the xda and I have 179 mb left so no
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
On a fresh reflash, and removing everything that's removable gives you about 230mb free before you can start installing your own apps.
Check out my post here.
Oh...that is bad. My phone left 30MB it keeps telling me that l have low memory. Any idea how to move all apps to SD? I can only move some.

Hi
I just had an issue of the internal memory is getting full even if I already had the applications and games installed in the memory card
But I wonder if there are any way or tips to optimize the RAM and get as much space as possible ?
Sent from my R800i using XDA Premium App
Not much besides returning it and complaining the the 500.00+ phone you paid for came with 3.00 worth of storage. Im being generous saying the internal memory is 3.00 its more like 2.00
Sent from my R800a using XDA Premium App
But there should be away to optimize the RAM coz its totally an clear for the internal memory to get full fast even if I just had only few apps installed. My Iphone have more apps and games installed and I never had an issue with memory

Yes there are many ways. Easiest and fastest download the app: "app to sd" from market and u can move most apps to sd card.
Try that and let me know

Flame the noob, shame on you You don't know jack until someone points you in the right direction. Sure he should have searched a little, but still.
Dude, you got good advice on the apps2sd. The real memory improvements are after you pluck up the courage to root your device, but it's pretty easy. Follow the other posts on same. Then you can check out Titanium Backup from the market, or there is another command you can run if you install the Android Development Kit but it's more techy. Stick to Titanium, it moves most of the game to SD, leaving <1Mb for each. I have loads of games installed & have 150Mb free.
Let us know how you get on...
Thank you guys. I just tried it and it freed around 120MB
I really dont know much about the android and how to handle it properly but really you all are giving a great help and I appreciate it very much
Once again thank you very much

If you learn how to use adb, you can try the command " pm setInstallLocation 2 ", this will force more apps to install to the SD Card and free up even more space
What i can delete on my internal storage? Where are the rings, Demopictures...? I us apps2sd and i have only ~100 MB free. What is adb and how i us it?

I'm not flaming or anything I just want to enlighten the OP.
Ram is not what you are referring to. What you are referring to is the internal storage.
Internal storage = Computer hard drive
Ram is where processes are being run atm. every time you turn off the phone the ram is cleared.
Now like many have said you can use adb and setinstalllocation2. What this will do is install all the applications on your memory card.

I was in exact same position as you, coming from Iphone, I did this and all is good.
Ignore the uber nerds on here that give you sh!t. There are loads of nice, helpful people on here and it is a great place, but a few bad apples will continually want to put people asking questions down.

I agree wholeheartedly, but this is, so to say, XDA's stance on the matter:

First of all check all the apps are on stock apps2sd. Go to settings/applications/manage applications then on the top click SD Card. It will then bring up a list of all the apps that are stock apps2sd conpatable and if theres a tick it means there already on. If no tick click the app then click "Move to SD". Instant more space.
Second uninstall the apps you use least.
Third clear your browser cache. Go to settings/applications/manage applications then scroll till you see Browser click then "Clear Cache"
Forth and finally I would root the phone and uninstall some stock stuff you won't use.
Done.

Hello everyone
Sorry for my last post. I didn't attach pic in that. Here it is. My model has 8gb space. Apps and files take only 4gb. And alloted space is 4.7gb for this. As a result I get storage space minimum notification constantly. So can anyone tell me where the remaining space is and is it possible to shift some space to storage
Thank you

There is 8gb there, but it's partitioned into about 4gb each. One for the OS and the other for media. So, you'll only be able to utilize 4gb for app storage.
Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to reduce the space alloted to OS?

Have you cleaned your app cache? I was getting low and was amazed how much space I gained. You can do it app by app or download something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gannicus.android.cacheclearer
