I have received my replacement x10 and found it was on 1. 6 (refurbished) so I updated, then rooted using flashtool installed launcher pro plus then cleaned the phone using flashtool, also installed mt and updated to bb .58 now if I put any sort of load on the phone it has a hissy fit and reboots a few times, on some occasions I had to remove the batt to stop it, and by load I mean downloading three apps or watching a movie or even trying to use ringdroid to name but a few instances. Have I rooted it wrong? Or would restoring apps from titanium backup cause a problem. Also even though I installed it xrecovery is not on it.

What firmware did you flash? Should be 2.1.A.0.435 or newer. That will give you dualtouch implementation in the update.
Newer baseband does not always mean better. Check what is working best for your region.
Run "repair software" via SEUS or PC Companion. Then use flash tool 0.2.9.1 to root, optimise (enable JIT) and install xRecovery.
xRecovery is not an app that will show up in app tray. Have to reboot, and when Sony Ericsson appears start tapping back button to access xRecovery menu.
Here's a step by step guide for updating from 1.6. It's based on X10a, so just use X10i ftf firmware with the flash tool.....

I've recently bricked my phone and it boots to the yellow exclamation of death, im subject to a monthly qouta by my ISP, so i cant download the flash tool(over 200 mbs), first of all i tried companion, i keep getting "download error please check your internet connection" i tried over 30 times but no luck......then tried SEUS, all i get in the end is "Your software is upto date" and ONLY the exit button (other ppl report that they do have a re-install button or restore to factory default button, i have none, is there a way to activate them?)........what should i do?
Edit: Pc companion's repair function used to worked before and i used it to unbrick my x10 a week ago
The reason you get the dowload error is because you flashed an X10i rom on your X10a. Use step 5 in the longer root method to flash an X10a rom and the dowload will work again.

i have an x10i, i am running the stock over the air upgrade, i never flashed any roms on it(upgraded the phone when i got it from companion from the SE servers), i did the 5second root method and the way i bricked it was i used the LCD density changer without busybox
just to clear something out, i got my phone unlocked from an independent store for ~$500, so im running STOCK fw 26, it has never been flashed by any rom, and the brick happened with when i tryed using the LCD density changer but didnt have busybox installed
Ok, you should still be able to us step 5 in the newbie guide to rooting thread.

I've just gone from Cyanogen 2.2.1 back to SE 2.1. I tried SEUS but it didn't provide a recovery option, it just said that there was no update available - I'm guessing because it didn't recognise the ROM.
I ended up using Flash Tool to get one of the SE ROMs on it.
However, if you have PC Companion installed, I think you can do a recovery on the phone regardless of what ROM you're on (it says there's no update but there's a link to 'recover phone' or something like that).
Me ended with the same stuff

nope, i tried that some days ago and pc companion stopped at start of flashing procedure and told me, that there is no firmware available for me. i was running beta4.
then i flashed an old xrecovery backup, that i made after my update to bb .54, and bingo, no problem repairing with pc companion...obviously nowadays the SE update sw doesn't like any other roms...

Its strange that this didn't work for you. I upgraded to 2.2 a few weeks ago, but the instructions I followed decided they wanted to leave out a step. It ended up being a pretty critical step and it really screwed up my phone. So much so that I couldnt even get into the phone anymore. As a last effort, I tried PC Companion to do a repair and it worked. Cleared everything off and went back to the stock 2.1.
Scrub question, when re-flashing the x10, does it wipe contents of the microSD or just internal memory?

Ok so, I want to update my Xperia Play r800i to 2.3.3, when I connect it to PC companion and start the update, the updater gets an error at the "Preparing Computer for Software Update" part, and it says that I am unable to update the phone, I reinstalled phone drivers, reinstalled PC companion and still no luck
Anyone Know how to solve this issue?
Download and use SEUS
Sony Ericsson Update Service. it is easy to use and works like a charm.
I did it, because I had the sane problem as you
Regards
Thanks! gonna try that when I get home in an hour or so
If you have the phone connected to wifi, do an OTA instead.
Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Update Now

It forces people to use a computer when they've modified system apps. If you rooted and removed some, that's why. If you used titanium to back them up and remove them, restoring the bloat will allow an OTA.

EDIT: Using SEUS worked for me as well. Thank you very much!
I can't seem to get flashtool to identify my phone. And I can't install Xrecovery. I successfully rooted the phone using azuzu's method. But now I can't install XRec. I've tried everything, and I mean everything. Reinstalled PCC, SEUS, removed and reinstalled my drivers but nothing.

Hello everybody. It looks like someone gave me an almost dead phone; x8 without a launcher.
I don't know how he managed to delete it but when i power on the phone, it only shows the notification bar with signal and battery. everything else is just "gone".
So, how can I make it work again ? the phone is unrooted and the menu is inaccessible to me ...
Thanks in advance.
Alex

Have you tried to make a flashable zip with a launcher like launcher pro?
maybe there is no launcher app, if you install one via ADB Shell or Flashable ZIP you can maybe solve this
Phone is NOT rooted.... ur screwd. Rescue it by SEUS, but you will lose your apps and settings.

Here is the Official stock HomeLuncher

install or move to /sistem/app and make the permisions
you can use X10FlashTool to install any launcher (not move it to system/app)
install any launcher and then install root explorer, use root explorer, copy the file to system/app, fix the permission like this:
V V

Don't want to root? Download Update Service from SE and install it. After that, open it and do the steps. Dont forget to backup your data!
Say thanks button if i helped you
I've had this problem one. Just follow the PC Companon instructions and you'll be fine, trust me!
Sign in your Google account.Enter market.Install any launcher.Wait for phone to receive and install.Press HOME on phone.Choose launcher.
how do you wan to add google account if you can't launch anything ?
I meant enter market through PC.
Does this phone have a custom recovery and ROM? If so just flash the recovery in fastboot from a PC and then use recovery to flash a rom.
Boot phone in to fastboot, plug it in to the computer, open command prompt(assuming you have SDK set-up) and navigate to the recovery.img path and type
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery.img)
Then use the recovery to flash your ROM.
I did the same thing to my last phone. Factory data reset with no launcher in system. Find it hard to believe its not rooted.

Install Luncher.apk or Flash it to stock with FlashTool
The Web market solution seems to be the simplest one. Install ADW or launcherpro though it.
