[Q] Blade or Wildfire. - Blade General

Hey, i've been checking some reviews and such on the ZTE Blade and i find it rather better than my Wildfire (rooted and overclocked).
What do you guys think, should i sell my wildfire and get a ZTE Blade instead?

Ofcourse.
Why?
Because ZTE have HD quality display 420 x 800px, 512 ram, and have a hardware 3d accelerator (chip Adreno 200).
So, on ZTE you can play a Gangstar, asphalt 5, bia2, avatar, nfs shift, nova, gt racing, hawx, or many many other 3d HD games.
If you frequently surf on internet, make you happy information, that a standart web page have 100% width on display, and you still can read!
I wanna have the wildfire before i'm buy ZTE, but i'm finally buy ZTE and I know now, i'ts be a good decision.
Wildfire have only 240 x 320 like old type k770, its sucks!
ps
And sorry for my bad english

YES!
The Blade is 1000 times better than the wildfire.
Just sell your wildfire and buy the ZTE.
Or actually i think you should wait for the ZTE Skate!

I have got both.
Looking for excellent overall build quality, the Wildfire is the way to go (sorry but the Blades's wobbling volume and power buttons freaks me out...),
For everything else, the Blade is definitely the best, not to mention the easiness to root and unlock.

Blade kills Wildfire. Every aspect...
There is also the Wildfire S now, but the Blade has better specs than it.

Come on, honestly the buid quality of the SF is terrible...(but for a sub £99 device it's difficult to blame it). The wildfire feels definitely more solid and reliable but the poor screen resolution made me look elsewhere.

...which IMO makes it superior. The price and the screen already are the key selling points. Then specwise you're right, apart for the camera.
But saying that SF blows Wildfire in every aspect is untrue

yes, maybe you are right. The HTC W. has better support, build quality, software. But the OSF > Wildfire

Thanks for all the feedback! Im thinking of selling it and buying the Blade or i'll wiat for the ZTE Skate! Thanks guys!

when is it due to be released ?

end of may i think? wildfire is really overpriced compared to blade..

Actually, if i didn't own a ZTE Blade allready, I'd check this out: Huawei Ideos X5
It is better than the Blade, quite better build quality (also note that it's been reported that the ZTE Skate has worse build quality than the Blade, despite the better specs), costs not much more and seems great in all videos and reviews I've seen!

3 words: just take blade
by OSF

there's something else that matters : community support. You'd better buy an android device with many people around, developping ROMs and apps
So you could find a device with better specifications that ultimately sucks, because noone solves the issues (and chinese vendors sell devices for cheap, so they can't spend more time on the software side)

Legend to Desire

Hey all !
i was wondering about selling my legend and buy the htc desire ?
but i thought the htc desire looked pretty big.. ?
but is this a good replacement ?
The desire has better specs but a little lower build quality.
I'd say over all its a great replacement though
On a side note, how much would you be selling your legend for? I'm looking to grab one if its the canadian version
I'm from Faroe Islands (check google or something if you want to know more about it)
im not sure how i could send it to you from here.. :S
and.. i know that the specs are better on the htc desire, but i was thinking about the size.. for me the htc desire looks pretty big, but am i wrong ?

The best comparison I could find is here http://www.omio.com/phones/compare/htc_desire+htc_legend
It seems the desire is just a few millimeters bigger length and width wise, so it shouldn't be a problem at all.
How much are you looking at selling it for? As for the islands your at, I'm really not sure how it would work anyways, international mail or something maybe?

Haha I didn't mean your email I meant to send would have to be through international mail
ooh, loool XD
I know this isn't what you asked but...
Have you considered the Nexus One rather than the desire? Same spec but the N1 runs froyo...
On paper the desire/N1 is faster, in reality the gap, as far as I can tell in my research is non existent (although I have heard claims that the legend is much faster due to lower res screen). The legend has less memory however and therefore could run fewer apps at the same time? This has never been a problem for me personally.
Build quality of course is a big change, the N1/Desire feel quite sturdy but the Legend is made of frikkin metal.

just an update, legend should get froyo
BUT
flash 10.1 most likely wont run due to the phones processor, it is not capable of running it, as of now anyways...
however, i'm sure after some time flash may get officially released or the modding community may try and do something about it but thats not something to rely on
desire is actually a reallllly good phone, i say sell the legend and get it!
The legend is hot to look at but like most phones it will get damaged. I had an HTC Hero and using a Desire is great for the bug screen and browsing. That extra half inch has made a good mobile experience great! Gaming wise you probably won't notice a big deal due to the higher resolution. Neocore demo actually was on par and sometimes better than my Desire. The only thing would be the number of apps you could have running at once. Build wise I think the Desire is great, mine is anyway though being machine out of a single block of aluminium certainly gives it a feeling of solidity.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
i actually just found out that you can use the htc evo flash 10.1 on the legend running froyo with a small work around and it apparently works near flawlessly so it should take much for a full unhacked version to become released. if not the hack version will do just fine
I have one question about the Nexus One..
if i want trackball light on it, do i need to take in half, and install a LED to it, or is this already done ? so i only need boot the phone to get custom LEDs ?

not to sure about this, you may want to check out the nexus one forums.
for the price of a nexus one there are many other phones that can and will do a better job.

anything without a trackball, my curve 8330 has a trackball and it always gets stuck. go with a trackpad or nothing.
the new evo is nice along the the droid x, also the htc incredible is amazing.
maybe even the samsung galaxy s?
there are tons of phones out there that are equal if not better then the nexus, just do a little research for what you like best
i'm still probably going to grab a legend either way though

Desire HD or Nexus 2(or whatever its called)?

hello guys,
i'm currently not sure about what i'm thinking, my Desire HD order will probably arrive at 15th November, and the new phone is going to be announced at the 8th... so should i cancel my order and wait for the new Samsung phone? or keep waiting??
i dont even want to wait for the releasing period for the new Samsung, which i think i may get it by December???!!!!
oh God
im in the exact situation! but this is what i plan on doing.
Keep my order, get the desire and play around with it. I'll see what Samsung announce, if it's much better and a worthy upgrade from the DHD then i'll put it up on eBay. Im sure i won't make much of a loss selling it there. Some people pay crazy money
But ultimatly what's most important to me is root, and if the devs here can't crack the DHD's protection, then i'll have little choice but to sell and get the N2.
Wren nexus one was released the phone was available the same day as the announcement. There has been talk that google will be selling it direct again this time round though I m not convinced it ll be on the same day. However, there shouldn't be long wait like DHD.
Personally I m not sure if it ll be a better phone, as I hated everything there is about Galaxy S. It ll basically be Gingerbread vs almighty DHD on Froyo, assuming HTC won't be bothered to update DHD to gingerbread any time soon. I m sticking with DHD for now unless Samsung has real trick up it's sleeve this time. I find it hard to convince myself to put up with another dreadful Galaxy S alike experience.
Sigh.. Only if HTC is more ethusiatic about it's software upgrade and Motorola is more keen about Android...
Sansung's got really nice hardware(only nice in figures) but their system craps, will think about it if it will get a none plastic-like surface and system designed by google itself.
So far the news ive read tell that in terms of hardware its not good, it will be more of a developer test machine since it brings 2.3.
I think Google is committing suicide by letting Samsung handle Nexus Two
Speculation so far:

- 512 MB RAM, 16 GB internal storage

I had a Nexus that was stolen from me, god how i miss that phone
As a replacement i am getting the Desire HD through the insurance i had on the Nexus.
However having been on the gravy train that is Android Dev phones (G1 & Nexus one) i must say that the Desire HD doesn't seem to be a worthy upgrade from the nexus, i was pretty psyched in the beginning about the Desire HD but the more i learn about it the less it appeals to me.
The screen isn't Amoled; the touch sensor isn't unlimited like i assume it will be on the Nexus two (Galaxy S :Atmel maXtouchsensor),
The battery is not 1500mha - honestly even if the cpu is much more power efficient than the old generation cpu's why not throw in a bigger battery?
And no front facing camera which in itself isn't a deal breaker but cmon, its not like we are buying budget phones here anyways...
As already mentioned possibly only one software upgrade during it's life time which to be honest is quite average however Google Dev phones always has the latest & greatest.
Not to bash on the Desire HD, but honestly its just a EVO with a new CPU minus the frontfacing camera and kickstand.
I will most probably test out the Desire HD and and change to Nexus Two if it seems better in some of these aspects.
Evo 4G is prettier, i would change from a DHD to a Evo 4G or incredible HDin a snap if it wasnt not being able to use it in europe. Why HTC only makes good phones for the US ?! Why are we treated like **** !?
you might as well ask why did the us implement WCDMA or 4G while the rest of the world is stil 3.5G (even in Japan..i think)??
they cater to the specific market needs.
same as Japanese mobile carriers, they only produced their phones for their markets in consideration only.
which is why they are highly sought for

thats just your opinion of things
Europe get the release first for nearly all HTC phones.
the US get rebranded versions. they also get some different phones because they use rubbish CDMA technology.
people hating on the desire hd, if you own one/owned one and played with it and made the comments fair enough. until then you have no right what so ever to "review" a phone you haven't used.
i own one for over a week and i have to say its a great phone.
the phone does have root,be it temporary at the moment but things have to start from somewhere. i don't see the average user like some people here trying to obtain root, but moan and demand it.
i don't see the nexus two being an all awesome phone. the nexus one's bootloader got unlocked with 1 click because it was a development phone but it voided the warranty. how many people are going to risk that with a samsung built device?

absolutely my thinking. I already have the DHD, but if the protection cannot be unlocked, and the specs of the "Nexus two" are OK/confirmed, I have not choice as to sell the DHD. Having had the Nexus One (and still owning it), I am no longer tolerating manufacturers lock-downs! That is a no-go for me nowadays.
Plus: I HATE the speaker on the DHD - (same XXX as on the nexus one). And I really have a bad feeling about these plastic covers on the DHD (only a matter of time until they wear out).
If the "nexus two" has a decent design and better materials (less plastic than the iphone-look-alike Galaxy S), my decision is made...
Yes that's true but im talking in terms of quality, look at the Incredible HD (desire hd for US) and look how perfect it is compared with the Desire HD

Review ?! What the freaking hell, im talking in terms of product Quality/Design, from every single review and comment ive read theres flaws with the design of the Desire HD, look at EVO 4G and Incredible HD they are brilliant, the EVO 4G came up before the Desire HD any decent company would grab their design and improve it, not make it more ridiculous.
Ive ordered a Desire HD since the day 2 of its announcement then amazon screwed their customers and now im waiting on handtec 3rd shipment so you cant say im a anti Desire HD... freaking fanboys are starting already...

I've had the DHD for 5 days and to be honest I'm underwhelmed. I have the regular Desire and the DHD isn't that big of an upgrade. I'm not saying it's a bad phone, just that it's only a little better than the Desire. except speaker is no better than the Desire, infact I find it slightly quieter. Big screen is great if that's what you want, but AMOLED on Desire is more vivid an there seems to be a little motion blur at times.
No problem with proxomity sensor or plastic covers here btw.
I'm going to sell my DHD and wait for something a bit better.

OK - please share what did you expect DHD to be? Please tell me what evolutionary leap could be achieved in about six monts? And enough of the AMOLED thing! HTC are absolutely right not to put themselves dependant on one supplier that also happens to be their competitor. And when (not if) they are forced to switch to another technology, they will have to take the blame for it. Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me. You get bigger screen, more RAM and ROM, better camera, next gen CPU... what else can be desired in six months of evolution? 2GHz CPU? Not gonna happen! I personally would like from the phone to cook and clean, but that also woun't happen .

My new phone-Htc Wildfire?

Hi! I am new at forum
I really like mobile tehnologies, and i want to bought new phone with Android.
Wildfire looks great, has very good hardver. but there is one problem,a resolution. Is this really big problem? Can i play a games and have a more good apps on that resolution? And price is 250euros. Is this so much?
What you say? Wildfire or something else like Galaxy 3,spica i5700?
Please help me!
P.S. sorry for bad English
well.. the resolution is not that good. because my friend had an iPhone4.. so i cant give my opinion here.. because we cant compare our wildfire with.. iphone's resolution right.
other than that, i think it's quite worth for this price range. nice outfit, a home with 5 pages, a 3.2" TFT capacitive 16M colour screen, and our lovely android 2.1. haha. and if u go thru this forum, u can see how we people desperating for the 2.2 froyo updates =)
First,thank you for answer
But you not say me what about 3d games and other applications. can I install and use it?

3D games don`t work on the Wildfire, for those games buy a phone with GPU (a dedicated processor for graphics).
Most apps work on wildfire without problems, only graphic intensive apps or app that have not been updated don`t work.
What will you buy Htc Wildfire with bad resolution and Android OS or Samsung Wave with great hardvre but with Bada OS ?
Thanks for answer

what os is it running? the wildfire has really good battery life, and if you don't care about 3d gaming, then it's the phone for you, and it has overclock kernel now anyway, runs smoothly . i don't know anything about the samsung phone xD. the resolution really isn't that bad for the wildfire.

Most people here will be biased towards Wildfire. Best thing to do is go to a phone shop and try out each model youre considering, and choose which one best suits you
I bought Wildfire yesterday and im realy satisfied with it. Before i had nokia 5800 and i have to say, android is awesome! Phone runs fast and smooth. You have tons of apps. I have to agree resolution is problem. You can still install games like roland garros or assassin creed (which are 320x480) but you will only see 4/5 of game, which is good enough to see controls and its playable.
Overall, in this price range, WildFire is KING
I use my wildfire for social that's bout it. Got custom recovery, rooted, n debranded from Vodafone runs alot smoother with overclock.
If you want gaming, a lot of net browsing then get another phone.
If you want it for just a phone, email and Facebook etc.then its a great little piece of kit.
Recommend downloading a custom keyboard as its a wierd one froyo update keyboard that I.tested was a lot better.
I social network, browse interweb and play a few low res games fine.
Good luck.

Between Wildfire and Wave, I`ll choose WIldfire because of Android. More apps, hacks and other stuff.
You can also look at LG Optimus One P500, if it`s available in your country. 600Mhz processor, HVGA screen, android 2.2 is a much better deal that the wildfire (except for the 3.2 camera).
Or i5700, great device, if you can find it, I would have bought a i5700, but I did not find it in any Vodafone store(old phone, not available anymore)

Wildfire worthy replacement from TYTN II

Hi
As title suggests I may have a Wildfire on order, not yet had the despatched email so until then I cant be certain
I have had a TYTN II for quite some time 3 years or more, my main gripe with the Wildfire is the reviews are a bit mixed, some saying its a low end HTC others saying look no further!
The CPU goes from 400Mhz to 528Mhz which doesnt sound like a massive increase
also the screensize from 2.8" to 3.2" again only slightly bigger
The Android software I am not so keen although I will give it a wide birth an see if my opinion changes, I would rather have Mobile 7 because thats whats on my TYTN II now
So in a nutshell, am I getting a worthy upgrade or will I be disapointed
Please comment
Thanks
Hello,
I hope you'll like your little Wildfire, it's a pretty cool phone and Android is cool too, i love mine.
And some alternatives ROM make it quicker. Try it and you'll be pleased (and if the resolution seems too little for you try LCD Density, it make a good thing to that ^^)
If you like games, and heavy multimedia, like movies then go for another device.

Both are true. The Wildfire is a low end HTC Device, however, at the price, look no further. (Not 100% these days after the release of devices like Samsung Galaxy 3/5, LG Optimus One, ZTE Blade etc)
Personally, I think you will be disappointed, because, for it's time, the TyTN II was the top end device, and, now, at the beginning of the launch, the Wildfire is at the bottom of the Android lineup. However, as said by Alex, if you are not looking at heavy multimedia / gaming usage, it will do just fine.
As 3xeno said, in present times, there are better phones in the same or even lower price range, LG Optimus P500 is really popular here in my country, because it`s a better phone that the wildfire, but at only two thirds of the price.

It has more ram, and more mhz, however, no gpu. Even some 2d games will run very slow without overclocking.
I would go with Milestone, to keep the keyboard, or anything within your budget that has a gpu, more than 600 mhz and is htc or samsung.
Windows Phone 7 is waaaaaaaaaay different then WM6.1.
It has way less freedom.
Android is the OS of the future.
It feels faster and more responsive then the Tytn 2.
It does not crash as much either.
Does not feature a Qwerty external keyboard but if you use Swype on your screen it is great!
I really recommend it for the price, but if you have the cash go for a Desire HD or even a legend.
But Low budget, Wildfire is very good.

New Blade or used X10?

Hello!
I am going to buy a new phone and the ZTE Blade seems pretty nice! But for same amount of money I can get a used SE X10. It seems that x10 has better specs right? Which phone is best?
Regards Niclas
Xperias are nice phones but the Blade is easier to mod, unlock and in my experience has better reception.
If you are getting SE xperia x10 in a good condition (barely any scratches and clean screen with no scratches) then you should get it because it has a 4" screen which relatively improves the web surfing, gaming and typing experience and not to mention the official gingerbread upgrade which is coming soon on xperia x10.
NEW blade

It has less RAM and the same GPU.
Bigger screen though, better resolution as well IIRC and yes it will get official Gingerbread.
