Hello,
sorry for my poor english but a'll try to do my best.
I'm looking for some app which will change this stock app which we can use during calling. It's really annoying to watch this little little picture and use buttons situated on corners.
Is there any chance to find any other app?
Did you mean the Home Screen Launchers? you could try AWD,GO Launcher, or LauncherPro..

I like the touch menu during calls, but I have to agree the buttons on the bottom corners are hard to press sometimes
Try exContacts, it´s free and very nice. no adds

Hi,
Ever since I got my Desire HD I've not been much of a fan of the camera (really bad quality when it's dark) and standard camera app. It's quite hard to press the button when taking photos and not looking directly on the screen. Do you know how o use one of the physical buttons like the volume ones to take a picture? Or do you have any other advice, e.g. a free phone app where you could at least press anywhere on the screen to focus and shoot?
Thanks a lot!

Hi there. When I take the photos to myself I mostly use the option of face recognition. It works pretty fine and takes foto just after catch your face in a frame and, by the way, you will hear it so that way to have a time to smile so you don't need to press anything! Cheers.
If you buy the pro version of Vignette, there's an option in its' settings to take a picture with the volume keys.
Cheers!
RE
In 2.3 version there is the same option... you can assign shooter to volume keys or to "find" button.

2.3 version of what? And where is the setting?
After reading this thread I downloaded the free vesion of Vignette.
That allows me to use either the volume button or touch anywhere on the screen to take a photo. I have a "flip" case on my DHD and that makes it a little awkward, but touching the screen is simples.
As the free version is classed as a demo I don't know if it will keep let me use these methods or not.

I'm using GB, but I havn't found that setting. Could you tell us where it is?
In the camera app press menu -> advanced options. Create shortcut there.
Create shortcut? After going to Camera -> menu-> Advanced just tick which buttons you want to use.

The signature doesn't lie
I've seen it, thats why i asked. I always forget to spdate mine (thats why i have no sign ATM). Anyway thanks for the reply, but i'm on RCMix, so there's no such setting on my DHD
Does anyone know how to move the cursor when using the keyboard, needing to add/delete a characters in the middle of a msg or text and repeated stabbing on my screen to get it in the right place is extremely frustrating anyone know a better way
I'm glad it's not just me, it must be hell on one of the lower end small screen devices. I have enough trouble on the X5!
btw langers, a little off topic but... have u tried 2degrees free facebook "zero" service??? when i try i get an error saying its not available from my carrier?? Just wondering whether its cos i'm not using my original stock rom
Facebook 0 works for me so you could be right
k thanks for that
Hey guys,
The reason you cant get onto FB 0 service is because you are using the APN internet.
This does not require a proxy and therefore o.facebook cant parse your mobile number to confirm you are indeed with 2degrees.
Try editing you APN and throwing 118.148.001.118 in the proxy and 8080 in the port.
If that doesn't work activate your WAP profile (it'll be called '2degrees') and see if that works.
If youre still having trouble give 2deg a call on 0800 022 022 and they'll sort you.
hope this helps
I'm using internet API and it works fine with no intervention/editing from me
YES!!!
cheers for that, worked a treat, didnt even realise those settings were even there, lol fairly new to the smartphone thing!!
i was using the internet apn as you said and once i switched it to 2deg all was good
Aren't we talking keyboard cursor?
I have been seeking for an app to have the little arrow text selector in our vanilla froyo, I mean that selector in gingerbread and HTC and Samsung machines.
Anyone know if there's such an app?

No it's not a complaint
Just too eager for a solution of the keyboard cursor mover
Well the good news is, after hours of searching finally found a solution of sorts...the bad news is, it ain't free $3.75. BUT there is a free trial version, with nag screen. I'm using it now and have only been nagged once.
The cursor can be moved via arrow keys which are enabled thru the extensive settings menu.
The arrow keys up, down, left, right sit at the bottom of the keyboard and make editing easy peasy. As u can imagine it does take up a fair bit of yr screen and the keys are slightly smaller but I think there is a calibration setting 4 that.
What I do like is upper case numbers and symbols, so no need to change screens.
Prediction works really, really well 2.
A heap of languages are also supported.
All in all not a bad little k/b, so head 2 the market an check it out. Smart Keyboard Trial.
Oh, btw swype also has arrow keys 4 cursor control if that spins ye wheels!
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA Premium App
Smart Keyboard Pro has arrow keys and it can be configured to use the volume buttons to move the cursor.
e. lol a minute late
No luck for me as I have to stick with Chinese keyboards. I am looking for another app which adds a slider for text selection like how gingerbread implemented.
@pezzku - hehehe yeh, after I submittted the post i checked my email and saw your post and thort why didnt i check earlier!!! never saw the time u posted it tho...great minds...
@simplistian - oh thats a real bummer m8 maybe u could start a new thread and hopefully someone out there may be able to help out?
Test this keyboard https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free
It has several seperate language packs and you access the arrows by sliding the space button up.

Hi im new to the forums.
Just wanted to ask if anyone else has the same issues. I happen to have really rugged edges around both sides of my phone as in left and right by the sim tray and volume buttons, the alluminium isn't smooth and you can see it has bumps and wasnt smoothened out properly.
Also another problem software related my keyboard decides to autocorrect in different languages at times before it was spanish and right now it keeps autocorrecting in french!
Thanks.

In terms of the keyboard, if d remember rightly, the default has a few languages selected. Go into keyboard settings and just select the language you want.
Not sure what to make an the rough edges thing. Metal is sharp by nature?!

For keyboard, go to Settings/Language & keyboard/HTC Sense input/Keyboard selection, and check other languages that are highlighted.
So i noticed there are many users coming from a galaxy device, and there are i think more features than most of us know when it comes to this device, everyone just post a tip you think someone might now know:
I'll start with mine: If you click and hold the multitask button, it will bring down the settings menu, this can be used pretty much anywhere, even in the homescreen.
Also if you open an app using qslide you can move the app all the way to the left edge of the screen and it will turn into a button which can be pressed and brought up at anytime.
good post this, keep them coming !
U can slide the Qslide to either edge. Works same ways for both the sides.
Good and keep the new tricks rolling..
ok, so here is mine:
you can use pinch gesture on multitasking window or in gallery view to resize thumbnails (make bigger or smaller).
Pretty nice

I just upgraded from a well-loved GS3 (it was getting flaky though) and I miss having built-in widgets for controlling bluetooth or wifi on/off that you can put on your main screens (Samsung had the power bar - which had a bunch of stuff). I'd rather not use the HD widgets if I don't have to - and pulling down the menu bar isn't always convenient.

This used to be my favorite tool, i know you mentioned you don't want to download any alternatives or so i understood but: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&hl=en
You can create your own powerbar where you can toggle wifi on/off bluetooth etc.. infact, i think i'm downloading this myself now that you reminded me of it, it is indeed more convenient.
When you scroll from bottom to open the qhickmemo+
Press the brow arrows that appear in the top after you'll be able to select an area to capture it
Also in the gallery, you can make a collage photos, hide photos and videos so no more need for hiding picture apps
In the home screen pinch to zoom it'll hide everything
That what I remember for now

Ohh, that's actually a nice low-impact widget.. Thanks! The HD widgets (while pretty) were very resource intensive and flaky sometimes for me. Too much for a widget.
Thanks!

I was watching a video on YouTube about the phone and I saw that the guy has a comma between the setup button and the space bar. I do not have it and I found no option.
PS: I have a theme applied that's why the keyboard looks flat.
