[Q] size leters - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

How can I change the size of the leters if it's big or too small

If u are talking abt "Font Sizes" then search the marketplace for a decent font changer...I highly recommend Absolute System Root Tools, It does that and so much more.

Google Map and Facebook Fonts

I don't know when or how but I've ended up with some crappy barely readable fonts in my Google Map and Facebook application on my Sprint TP2.
They look very much like the type of font you see on a LED seven segment display with the space between each segment.
Can anyone tell my how to change the fonts on these two applications. I'm thinking it must be a registry entry.
Thanks.

Yep, this happened to me after installing some apps.
Just find a font you like, and replace the ones in the fonts dir in windows. I used comic sans and renamed it to what was in the fonts folder and over wrote them. This will fix your problem.

I had the same problem after installing MS Reader. The problem is Google (and I'm guessing Facebook) use the first font listed alphabetically in your Windows dir. Least it sounds like you can see the words, I ended up with a whole bunch of characters that looked like +x0 overlapping like a LCD diplay with each segment lit.
You could try finding all the fonts on your system, working out which one comes first alphabetically, then making a copy of a font you like and renaming it to be alphabetically first. Unfortunately, even if you systematically uninstall everything, I think the font will remain so the copy/rename method is your only option. Or you could hard reset (*warning, you will loose everything!*) then inspect each CAB file you install, removing any additional fonts they contain. If you're not sure how to do that last sentence, or don't have the software to disect CAB files, it's probably best you don't go down that route!
Culprit seems to be TouchWatch2. Guess I'll either delete it or get good at switching fonts.
Thanks for the help.

[Q] Large font Theme (easy on the eye)

I have just bought a Orange SF to play around with Android (I have a HTC D2 as my main phone, large screen and easy to read)
As the screen is smaller and the platform is new to me, I'm finding the that there is just too much on the screen to see clearly without having to wear my reading glasses.
I was wondering is there a way to change the font to make it larger (as can be done in Windows Mobile) and is there a theme around (or how easy is it to make my own) to have 2 or 3 larger icons across the screen instead of the 4, which I find too small.
If the answers are already around, would be grateful for a pointer please in the right direction.

From a quick search, thee doesn't seem to be an easy way to increase font size. You could just use a larger font, though it will probably not format things very neatly.
I'm not sure how you change the font (with clockwork presumably) but I'm sure you could find out easily enough.

Hi mushtaq, my wife is looking at a new phone and has the same eyesight issues. So far the iPhone 4 is the only device I have found that increases the font size. However I see you mention you can make the fonts larger on windows mobile? Can you confirm how and whether that is also available on Windows phone 7?

[Q] Large font software

Hi folks, my wife is looking for a new phone and here eyesight is not very good. She has been looking for a phone that can enlarge the display font. I have looked on the Android app store and can't seem to find anything and it doesn't appear to be in the Android default settings anywhere. The only phone that seems to do this is the iPhone 4. This is a shame as I don't really want one of those as I don't much like the constraints of the Apple platform and haven't got the time to get into jailbraking.
I would have thought that as PDA's are handheld computers they would have this basic function just as you do on the PC under accessibility (for the visually impaired).
Any help would be appreciated.
The app 'Spare Parts' can do this

[Q] learning app for kids - what language should I learn to developed it ?

Hello programmers
I would like to do learning app for kids
the app will include :
1- registration -> to show the score that he got from quizzes and also display hes friends score (like a competition between friends)
1.1 - registration can using facebook , twitter so he can invite his friends to the game and play with them.
2- voice -> to say the name of the items (numbers, alphabets, animals, foods ... etc)
3- some animations -> for the quizzes answers (correct or incorrect) and going to next quiz. Also for menu
4- moving items by user -> to move the items (answer) to the correct picture
what languages should I learn to do this app?
I know Java , also I have create some basic apps for android from android tutorials like note , Calc and many basics app
but the design is regular android design
so for my app it needs other design for kids and it need be more colorful (including with any event user make)
I'm good designer using photoshop but I don't know how to get the sizes for the android layout and items sizes
also for registration : do I need to make database using sqllite ?or I have to create database online "mysql" for example ? or if i do registration via facebook only so I'll get the database from facebook ? (I haven't try to do facebook apps before)
as I said before the registration is only to display the score between user and his friends
for moving items (answers) to the correct pictures . is it the same way when I do it using JFrame in java ? so I just need to do an object then control it wit MouseMotionListener then mouseDragged and mouseMoved . what are the names for the events, interface listener and functions in android
about the "Voice": is there a website that I can download the sound for most of Items (numbers, alphabets, animals, foods) for free ? or should I create it by myself ?
also is it better to create many sound files? Or using Text-To-Speech (TTS) ?
I know how to play a sound file in my program
but if you suggesting using TTS can you please give me a link to learn how to use it
my question again .. what exactly should I learn to do this app with the details the I gave above ?
what I mean is don't please tell me you should learn for example Java tell me what I have to learn in java for android
such as what are the names for the events, interface listener and functions in android for MouseMotionListener - mouseDragged and mouseMoved
thanks
For graphics check Google's design guidelines. You can set any image as the background of a view. So being good at Photoshop is great.
I think that you will need to use Sqlite databases. You cannot handle other ones in Android (Ok. Maybe with some libs)
However, sometimes it can be done with files, too. That would mean maybe encrypted text files.
Use Android DPI Calculator to get the translation from pixels to dip for all screen resolution. You just input a width and/or height in pixels and it gives you the translation and even tells you if you'll get half pixels
For the APIs codebase, I guess the documentation is the the best place to look if you already know java : http://developer.android.com/guide/components/index.html
Here is a good tutorial on how to achieve "drag n' drop" : http://www.vogella.com/articles/AndroidDragAndDrop/article.html

Heap size and Kitekat

Hello , this is info and question in the same time so excuse me please.
Can somebody be so kind to say something about heap size on galaxy 10.1 on new Kitekat , or how to change build prop list to make larger heap size than 256mb.
That is maximum allowed memory acces for application on galaxy. Because of that I can not run properly Photo Mate R2 which is essential for me.
Small heap size prevents application to save raw files after editing so it is useless that way. App shows heaap size of 256mb in system info and needs at least 512mb preferablly more for bigger files from say nikon d800.
Is that issue solved in kitekat update or someone know how to make it bigger on 4.1.2. By changing build prop list like someone said before?
It is painfull that majority of phones have bigger heap than galaxy tablet, which make simple toy of it instead production tool that could be.
Thanks
