Hey guys,
I have a problem. A week ago I dropped my hd2 and the screen was smashed. I took it to the service and they replaced the digitizer. Now, as it turned out the lcd displays badly and the say it has to also be replaced. I know that after the drop the lcd worked fine. Now it looks like this: http://img857.imageshack.us/i/imag0001u.jpg
My question is - is this broken lcd? it has to be removed? or can I do something with it? is it the fault and they've done something wrong?
Thanks for answers.
Wrong forum.
Btw if your screen was working fine before you sent it, then its simple as sending the phone back and asking them to replace the screen coz they've done a ****ty(pardon my french) job on that, mate. They either were careless when separating the digitizer from the screen or they've just replaced it with a different 1(not even tested probably).
Still their fault, sent it back, simples.

Then i took the screen out and ordered a new one from ebay which was assembled from the shop.
And same resault
what could be the problem? I have a danish hd2 and i have tried to update the firmware after i replaced the screen and digitizer and still no respond
what could be the problem?

Same problem here
I've got the exact same problem. Replaced LCD and digitizer but it is still not working. Additionally the screen is a little yellowish. Anyone knows if this might be related and any idea who to possibly fix this?
Hi, I have exactly the same problems, even tried with 2 fresh new digitizers. Could it be that they are extremely sensitive on the inside? Or is it some glitch somewhere?
Extremely frustrating!
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
well mine is in the scrapped now. when my digitizer arrives and i sort things out i will get back to you
Hi, I bought HD2 with broken digitizer, so after it came to me I immediately buy new digitizer, didn't look for the cheapert but once again I resolve myself to never buy things for china digitizer doesn't work so I need to new one from USA, send it to my friend and he repair it within day, now everything work... and yes digitizer are very sensitive
Hi guys, i followed all the indictaions on the official videos but i think i broke something! I had an HTC hd2 with a broken digitilizer but the screen worked fine. I bought a screen+digitilzer combo and replaced it but it didnt work.
The screen does not show anything (black screen) but the backlight of it is on!
I tought maybe was a problem of that lcd so i tested the original screen (that was working) and it does the same.
What could be the problem??
Please i need help
come onn, anyone ?
please guys, anyone ??
Sounds like a defective lcd to me. I'd try an RMA asap on getting another unit before your DOA warranty (if the lcd has one) runs out.
it's not the LCD. I had a working LCD but a defective digitizer, i bought the lcd+digitizer replacement and now both screens do the same , just the backlight is on. And before i change the screens the original lcd was working fine.
Could it be because the LCD is not correctly pasted into the chassis ? i really don't know what could it be the problem. The lcd is correctly connected to the mainboard. What could i broke in the process?
Thanks connexion2005 for the help anyways, is nice to see someone finally answered hehe!

If you were not really gental with the internal parts of the phone, more presisly the ribbons that connect each part to the main board you could have cause micro cracks in the copper strips of the ribbons. Look at the closely with a magnifying. glass if possible.
today i was able to sync it literally with no idea of what i was touching. I also figured that the digitizer works , i was able it dial some numbers. The phone appears to work.
So, Backlight is on, Touch (digitizer) also works, but not showing anything on the LCD.
Could it be a mainboard problem ?? I'm trying to use logic because i don't know anything about cellphones and how do they work in terms of components.
Could it be the ribbon ? I dont think so, i have two screens and both of them do the same (backlight on but not showing anything).
I'm clueless!
Don`t panic. Calm down, watch a demolution tuturial. You probably miss smt. Good luck
But it could be a ribbon...

Unless they just haven't connected the LCD properly (very unlikely), there's definitely a problem with it... I'm afraid I think it'll have to be replaced.
in turkey if there is a digitizer problem they change the whole screen.
Under the TMOUS warranty they will replace your phone if an issue comes up like that because it's usually just an unlucky roll of the dice if your LCD does that.
because your problem seems to occur after a mechanical shock, i would suspect 2 scenarios.
1. You have a bad connection between the display flex connector and phone's motherboad. This can either be caused by motherboard display connector failure, some small pins on that connector got busted when the phone was either dropped or once the digitizer was changed. I give pretty small chances for this to have happened.
2. If you see a phone lcd stripped down of it's housing, you will notice that on the bottom part of it (or lateral one on some displays) you can see a flex cable coming from the display's glass-like surface to the back of it. It sits pretty tight around one edge of the screen. It connects the TFT matrix to the processing part (column&row controllers) on the back of the display (or on the flex cable/phone motherboard .. ). If a phone is hit from one side, the case and display housing can press hard on this flex cable and break it, or puncture it. In this case, some of the signals needed to drive some specific areas of the tft matrix aren't getting to the matrix itself so you see some lines on the screen (plus color rendering errors). Sometimes, improper manipulation of the screen when assembling back the phone can also cause the problem.
I give more chances to this scenario.
If number 1 could be fixed by a simple phone disassemble and connector checking, number 2 will indeed require a new display as there isn't any way to service that broken flex cable.
My previous posts about display problems tried to focus on "naturally occurring" problems, not ones induced by electric/mechanical shocks. So in this case, my above scenarios will be more suited as likely suspects for your problem.
Hello, I have a Motorola Defy, that I dropped a few times, so the LCD screen got damaged with blue dots on it, I made a mistake and thought that the problem was on the touch Screen, so I purchased a replacement, installed but, it was damaged, the touch did not respond correctly, I wasn't able to type correctly among other problems.
I got a refund, then ordered a LCD screen replacement, now that I have it here, I install it, and it's broken:crying: I know, bad luck and being a rookie while trying to fix my phone, ok, I put back my old (damaged) LCD screen to use it in the meantime, and the old touch screen, but now, the old touch screen that was supposed to being working fine, it doesn't, it has the same problem as the touch screen that I bought.
Question is: the problem with the touch screen, could be related to the damaged LCD screen? or the motherboard of the phone is damaged? the phone works great, the apps, the games, everything but the touch screen and the LCD screen, but, as I said, I went back to the default touch screen after using the damaged one that I received, and it works worse I don't know what's wrong, please help me out, sorry for the long post
Please post questions in the Q&A section. Moved there.

Is this true?
true. fix some minor dead pixel if you put in freezer for one day. but your case... im dont hope much.
Try changing LCD + Capacitive Digitizer. (after trying the freezer trick ofcourse)
Well i will tell my story, which is related to your's as well,
i had a phone with resistive touch screen and it got screwed up, that is it does not respond correctly. So, i took it to the service center and they replaced the digitizer (touch screen) saying that previous one is broken. But, luckily the new one didn't responded to any touches they make. So, they replaced it again with the old one quoting that "your phone can't be repaired". So, i took it home with me.
Later i thought to calibrate the screen but the old one is not responding any more, no matter where i press
Later i calibrate it with the help of a software for windows mobile with the help of a PC. It took me to the calibration screen, from where i calibrated it, and voila, it worked... as good as a new one :victory:
long story short,
i think when you disconnected your digitizer, phones default values/drivers got messed up and are unable to find the new or the old digitizer you connect. I suggest you to go to the service center as these screens can not be calibrated.
Is there NO WAY at all to recalibrate the screen from the phone itself? or using an application? the delicalibration might be the problem....I'd like to fix it myself :/ thanks for the tip, never heard about it before!!

I replaced my original digitizer screen for the one I ordered it, it gave me problems, so I went back to the original one, which was working fine, and now it's not fully responding, that's why I'm assuming is something calibration related, thanks!
help
my search button back light is not glowing ..i saw it is also not glowing in recovery...any help
So a few months back I'd had my digitizer replaced and recently I noticed that it was collecting dust so in a wrong move! I decided to disassemble and clean it!
I faced some difficulties disassembling the main board and I think I've damaged the LCD while doing that! after putting everything back together I noticed that the top half of the display shows distorted colors , I've attached some photos.
Now my question is that if you guys believe it is a damaged LCD or some other parts and If so is there any way to fix it without replacing the LCD?
thank you very much in advance
-Bahador
Next time don't do it by yourself. Anyway, I think you didn't assemble it properly, try to disassemble it again and assemble it properly. If still doesn't work go to your manufacturer.
thank you for your response, can you be more specific please? do you think it's the LCD's cable? cause I was no able to detach it in the first place
Bad news...
110% your lcd is damaged/faulty.
Replacing it is the only solution, but don't do it yourself, it seems like you just don't have the right skills for that!
