Dear Omnia owners,
It seems that the NoDo update is no longer available for Omnia 7 users since 2 weeks.
For my own case, i got the ndo notification on my phone, but i can't do the update immediatly, so i try 5 day later, and Zune says that my phone is up to date...
So i just want to know how many of us meet the same problem.
Thanks for your reply.
EDIT: So Nodo has been stop:
"Yes, we've temporarily stopped sending updates to Omnia7s. The team discovered a technical issue with the update package for this model. The work of fixing and testing the package is nearly done, and the team hopes to resume update deliveries soon. When I know more about the timing, I'll pass it along." (Michael Stroh -> MS Employee)

Yes, no more NODO at least officially, and your readings are totally correct. Well, I am going to do it with Chevron updater right now.
Same here.....
Got my Omnia 7 on 9th of April with T-Mob Branding. Used to flash that device to have the original Firmware and no Branding.
Just after flashing I got the notification of pre-NoDo but that it.
Looking at many forums around this topic, you'll find so much owners with that problem!
Same problem here. Got a message that there was an update available, few days later I tried to update: untill today Zune keeps telling me that my phone is up to date...
no update for me since I got my phone on the 4th,only pre nodo
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I'm getting more and more impatient and angry with MS
Same here. Going ringing them tomorrow and give out ****.
I was one of those who got nodo update with Hungary connection and 15 sec data trick.
Now I sent of my phone for repair and it came back with 7004 and it won't update past 7008. Sick of this ****
Sent from my OMNIA7 using Board Express
In a different boat here, contract gets renewed end of april, jumping over to an Atrix or Galaxy S2, sick of MS updates already, I knew it was a mistake buying into the first wave of WP7 devices, maybe by next year when nokia gets on board it'll be a viable platform
I got the notification at the beginning of the month but the next day when I connected it to my computer it said it was up to date.
Maybe they pulled it because they're waiting for a samsung firmware update or something. I don't really care that I don't have it yet since it is only a minor update. This is their first update and by the time mango and other updates are released I'm sure it will go smoother.
A french guy had a contact with Samsung, ang the samsung guys told him that Nodo has been hold for Omnia 7 for un unknown period of time...
He just say to connect his phone to zune from time to time.
To be confirmed, but MS is not to be blamed but Samsung yes!
Same here ...
Wish I'd read this topic 2 days ago
No longer works for me either, did a system restore, on the phone which already was updated to NoDo, so it went back to 7008. and then I couldn't refla**** back to 7390 Tried for hours lol
Damn you samsung!
I have this problem to as Orange replaced my phone when trying to resolve an issue with dropping signal..... Now I still have signal issue and old software.

same problem here. bought my omnia 7 five days ago. it seems i was too little too late...still loving wp7 though and ready to wait some time. a statement of microsoft or samsung would be nice, though.
Some people said that Nodo for Omnia was removed because of an issue that devices wouldn't be able to update after that. However this is very unofficial...
It seems to be clear that the NoDo update has been removed for omnia 7.
But MS refused to talk about it, and no web sites gives the news, what can we do?
Maybe can you post the info on your favorite WP7 news site?
same problem...
Can I suggest we post here and demand some answers...
http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_phone/b/windowsphone/?PageIndex=2
I know alot of the media read this blog and Microsoft have issued appologies etc... as a result of large numbers of negaive posts to this blog..
Personally I am feeling really annoyed at the lack of information...
I previously had the update on my Orange UK Omnia 7 but Orange in their wisdom decided to change my phone to try to cure a dropping signal problem...
So new Omnia 7 arrived and updated to the Feb 11 update without problems.
Then I waited for the 2nd update but nothing!!! So its been a week now..
I actually use copy and paste quite alot and need access to GAL 2003 for business. Both these features should have been in the original release but six months later I am now on version 7008 and dont have the features....CRAZY!!!
So today I tried to get some answers and called the following....
Orange UK ....they had no idea updates were not working suggested I get phone flashed at a repair center.
Samsung... Say they are not responsible for updates only hardware so I should talk to Microsoft. The woman I spoke to just tried to get rid of me and I probably will not buy another Samsung product after that experience.
Microsoft... call routed to India... they had no idea about updates told me it was the responsibility of the OEM. They said Microsoft had no technical team to answer Windows Phone issues.
Unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!!
No Nodo update for my unlocked version, too.
I got it today.

My sisters hero is on three, it hasn't displayed anything about OTA updates, even the part 1 update, i have advanced the date yet it still isn't doing anything.
Anyone know why this is?
Cheers
Im on three to with a hero, Im just on the phone to three tech support who claim that there is no plans atm for the update on three as they dont even know of its existence. Im hoping this is just lack of communication within three as I only had the hero because of the promise of the new android as the desire only come out around 3 months after i upgraded!
i'd be extremely surprised if the three hero was left out. I read somewhere that orange and three updates are delayed, still not sure why I havent had the part 1 update though.
I've emailed HTC so i'll see what they say and update on here.
I mailed them a couple of days ago about rumours networks were blocking the update and got this response.
Dear Jason Woods,
Hi Jason, thanks for your email. HTC will be providing a free update to Éclair for European HTC Hero variants. Starting in June, anyone owning an HTC Hero will receive an initial preparatory update, shortly followed by the full Éclair update. For the full update, we would recommend using a free Wi Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan, otherwise standard data charges may apply. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause, but we are working to get this update to you as quickly as we can. In regards to networks blocking updates, you will need to get in contact with your network provider directly for more information Thank you for contacting HTC. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us again. Best regards, Simon A HTC

Damn it.
Use the goldcard method, downgrade, flash a new ROM. Works just fine. The walkthroughs are very good on this site and provided you follow them it should work just fine. The changes 3 will make to the rom are so minor it really isn't worth waiting for.

I would but it's my sisters phone, should have heard the grief i got just for installing the custom htc keyboard on it lol. She will just have to wait.
As an update for anyone waiting, 3 have been posting updates on their blog here: blog.three.co.uk/2009/12/07/the-htc-hero-with-spotify
They posted today that the update "is being tested and is due for approval imminently".
I've posted a question asking if only part 1 will be available by the end of Friday or if both parts will be.
They replied and apparently the update will come all at once instead of two parts.
Cool - I have a Desire and my Mrs has a Hero... she is complaining her phones not as slick looking as mine so I thought I would flash it... but if 3 are doing an official update I'll wait for that.
Looks like they missed their deadline, but they did release a new statement on their blog.
Thanks for all your patience regarding the 2.1 update for HTC Hero. We have now tested and approved the software and this has been submitted to Google to get the final go-ahead. We’re hoping that they can push this through as quickly as possible, but we’re not clear on the timescales for this yet.
As soon as we know more from Google on their timescales we’ll let you know

Indeed, I feel your pain. I mean what a terrible tragedy, having to wait almost a full month before a slightly updated operating system for your mobile phone becomes available. Nobody should have to bear such a tragic burden in their life. Have you asked whether the European Commission on Human Rights will take your case up?
On the other hand, you could just go to Argos and buy one - they are advertising that their Streaks come with 2.2.
@philip...ha ha I am sure you are being sarcastic there...
no thanks but Ill stick to my current o2 locked streak...cause currenly having 2.1 instead of 2.2 doesnt really make a big difference to my existance on earth...
it's just the 'customer unawareness' of dell/o2 which bothers me...nuthin else..
Dell, carriers?
If Dell "officially" releases the update, then the carriers pack their crap onto the update, does Dell have to check it for compatibility before the carriers sign off on it? Or do the carriers send their crap to Dell, dell packages it into their OS, then tests it, and then the carriers sign off on it?
God knows I wouldn't defend the manufacturer or the carrier, but does anyone know the procedure?
THIS is a glaring example of why carriers need to get the $*#&% out of the hardware/software side of the wireless phone business, and become pipes.
(In the USA) it use to be, you provide the phone, we provide the dial tone.
Now, I'm not naive enough to know why the carriers want to stay in the hardware
side of the business, but, as phones, software evolve, they need to seriously consider changing (in the USA) their business model.
At least DELL UK sell accessories for the streak........we have nothing in Australia
Not even a charger!!!
f**k the dell and o2 upgrading to 2.2 with dj steve had enough with their sh*t
we the first person to buy these f*cking device in uk and we are getting at last seriously love the device but dell a complete dirt company to deal with
To be fair, 02 added very little bloat to the Streak. Either 1.6 or 2.2. I personally would rather wait a couple of weeks for them to sort out the bugs in the thus far released 2.2 builds before it hits O2.
I'm currently using 2.1 with a mildly tweaked build.prop & ADW Launcher and other than the lack of flash it isn't lacking much.
Maybe I'm just more chilled as I'm getting older but I don't really see that the sky is falling down just because I have to wait a few days more for a phone firmware update.
Dell are fixing some of the bugs (hopefully more than some) in the initial 00 released roms..
you wouldn't want them to send the o2 ones out with something that stopped you watching iplayer would you?
Same here stateside...would rather wait until it is RIGHT...before updating.
When I was younger, as soon as a point release would come out, I'd jump on it.
Not so much anymore. I want stable.
I use to go bleeding edge on hardware for the PC, tweaking and tweaking to get the performance, and then living with unstable systems.
Last pc I built replaced one that I built and was stable for over six years, running 24/7. The one I built, should be as stable for another six.

The 'official' update was withdrawn until some bug fixes are done, anything you download just now will be unofficial and buggy.

Hiya
I have been a member of XDA Developers for a while now and have found the site very helpful for Windows based mobiles. I have taken a giant step and brought a Samsung Galaxy Tab which to be fair I have been very happy with.
Last night I was " playing " with KIES to see what it would do and I was advised I needed an update, so I duly backed up the handset and went ahead with the update. All seemed to be going well until about 1 hour in when there was no progress on the update. Being sensible I went to bed and left it overnight only to find the same status. I called Samsung and was told in no uncertain terms there was no upgrade. Now I know I wasnt going to get an upgrade to the next version of Android and I already had 2.2 Froyo but that doesnt mean to say Samsung hadnt released an interim update (and searches here and elsewhere suggest this is the case)
Anyway to cut a long story short I had to terminate the upgrade and attempt to roll it back by reconnecting the handset. I was unable to do this as the initial attempt to update had bricked my handset to the degree it became totally unresponsive and I couldnt even turn it off. When I thought I had it came back on with coloured line horizonally arcross the screen.
At this point I gave up and returned the unit to the Carphone Warehouse who refused to replace it on the basis I have had it just over 28 days. It is therefore gone for repair (probably to be reflashed). When I spoke to the salesman he advised I was not the first go in with a KIES related problem. Given my later research and the information from him I can say that I wont be using KIES again and I suggest that other people are careful too.
What I would like to know, going forward is there any other option apart from KIES to upgrade a Samsung handset ? Im thinking ahead for when Gingerbread comes out.
Thanks for reading.
Ken
read the galaxy tab development section... there is a flashing too called odin, which can be downloaded over at samfirmware together with the actual firmware

Good news Dell Venue Pro users! Mango is coming officially on the Dell Venue Pro.
Dell has insisted, much like other Microsoft OEMs, that the Mango OS will be pushed out to current devices on September 20. Usually, Dell has a pretty good track record of releasing updates on Tuesdays (Nodo, firmware, Microsoft Security update). Combined with the other musings about Windows Phone Mango updates coming in mid September , the rumored release date gains some face validity. But to be safe, put the release date in the rumor folder because delays do happen

Do you have to revert back to nodo or can you update from mango beta 2
I guess there will be new version of EM, as new version of firmware will be on the 7720.68 update.
See the picture from the link below:

Then we may have to figure out the registry and those dlls again.......

I don't really get this article. In typical headline-grabbing style WMPU position this article it as fact, without providing any offical source or quote, but then go on to caveat it up to the hilt to cover their back. And typically this has been re-quoted all over the web without so much as a question. Yet up to this point many were saying that existing DVPs wouldn't get an official update. Where is the evidence that Dell have insisted this is true or official? Is it something the rep said in the video?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1260411
that post makes it pretty clear that dell is going to do an update.
phone from dell with mango and new firmware.
True, but that's a "brand new" phone. But still doesn't answer why WMPU (and everyone else who jumped on their bandwagon) are treating it as indisputable fact when, as far as I can see, in typical blog style, they've not backed it up with any source or quote.
Still, I guess we've not long to wait and find out!
Probably because the author knows people at Dell:
http://en.community.dell.com/dell-b...-pro-firmware-revision-coming-next-month.aspx
I'd guess Dell probably aren't allowed to announce a date until Microsoft officially launches Mango. There is a huge Microsoft conference happening at the moment (http://www.buildwindows.com/). Would be very surprised if Mango was not 'launched' officially during the conference.
20th September is the first Tuesday after the conference ends, so it's a plausible date.
Ah, that explains it then. Apologies all round for being such a sceptic!
Thanks - although I have no idea if the author has heard a whisper from Dell or is just taking an educated guess.

yes it was rumored from a mutual contact that the dvp update would be next week. But I also know that whenever dates are given with dell, well...there are delays...(last f/w update for instance was delayed by a week as was the security update, and for that matter nodo was delayed so so many times).
I suggested to readers that delays do happen, like with any software/firmware update due to carrier testing or microsoft. With the previous f/w update, dell had the intent of releasing it the same week as reported, but in this case Microsoft waited to do a dual update (hd7 and venue pro updating) which is at their discretion.
Whether or not Microsoft will do that again is anyone's guess. That's why I recommended that
1. It is a rumored release date (but the contact is extremely reliable with his info given)
2. delays happen
Nothing major if it does happen. This is dell afterall...they have a record with delays...it wasn't super sensational to suggest that...

I would 'suggest' the only sure date for the mango release is whenyou see 'update complete' on your device. Until then, blah blah blah.
The circumstances for the release of mango is different than with Seven and NoDo.
With seven, it was all about timing. Small market release upfront, followed by reaction plan and response.
Nodo was an updat, nothing more.
Mango is a new device focused release. Its step 2 in the MS mobile plan.It released to Operators several weeks ago. What was released back in july is what youll see next week. Anything new since the RTM will be this years nodo. Historically, new OS's have rarely updated near launch date, the focus instead on the new device release. If MS/Dell have said the 20th, then hoorah for them. But i do not recall seeing anything official from them....excluding that twitter guy.
From someone who has the mango rtm already, but no longer uses the vp as my primary device, i can say i will not move back to the device as my primary device. Its slow and bulky compared to many of the android devices. I do however hold great hope for windows phone and will buy a new device when i see 4g, dual core, and wifi integrated calling. I believe windows phone is better than android. It just doesnt have all the cookies yet.
With the number of contacts i have at ms, i 'suspect' the release will be within the next 2weeks. But i said that back in June, and nothing has changed.

That was my point and why I took issue with wording of the article. A prime site like WMPU should be very careful of giving the impression that they have seen an official statement committing to a date when all they have is rumour and hearsay (no matter how trusted the source).
Also, won't Dell (and other OEMs) need to build and test their proprietary hardware drivers (e.g. for the compass) before they roll the upgrade out to their devices? Or will have these been completed and submitted back to MS in time for the 'launch'?

i can vouch for the information. The person gave me a unit to personally test and write about. I'm pretty sure that's enough to vouch for their reputation.
But realistically, mobile sites are dicy on rumor mill, but that doesn't stop reporting at all. And sadly on more than one occasion, several sites haven't fact checked a rumor before it ran out of commotion (anyone remember the initial HD3 specs fiasco?)
I can understand your skepticism, but that's also why I indicated that delays happen and things get pushed back. Realistically anytime there is a date given by any dev, oem, or company, it always never EVER delivers on that promised date.
But it is news that many want to know about. And the source is extremely RELIABLE and about as official it is going to get regarding dell's restructuring of their mobile division.
You don't have to trust the date, in fact I suggest not to do so. But given the indication that mango is coming in that timeframe (middle of september) clarifies the position that the rumored release date gains more credibility. Also, since TMO gets a bevy of updates on Tuesday for windows phone camp (nodo, security, firmware), Tuesday at least is a relatively big day for tmo as far as pushing out updates are concerned.
That was the point of the article. Seriously no need to overanalyze it, it will make you old and gray =P

Agreeing with dom on this. Youll get old and gray reading digital papparrazzi. Know that the first time dell saw mango was NOT at the rtm date. They've had the bits for several months. They were test partners along with the other OEMs for several months. Fijal bits have been in their hands for 6-8 weeks and they have been privvy to prelim builds for several weeks before that. Test modes and package delivery have been their focus for several weeks now since changes to the packages must go through ms, not dell. Dell cannot add anything post handoff.
There is no question the release is soon. My only question is where it will fall in relationship to the new device release. If its before the release, then soon is soon. If its after, then soon could bè fall...and that lsts until december

I wouldn't expect a new dell wp7 device any time soon =(
Hey Dom and everyone,
I just thought that I would chime in a little with this one. The rumored date of September 20 was the latest officially announced date given to OEMs (Dell in this case) from Microsoft at the time this article was written. Joe Belfiore of Microsoft has obviously gone on record as saying that Mango will now officially happen in the fall, meaning on or after September 23. Dell has finished their part of Mango and Microsoft is again stuck holding the ball in their court. Let's just hope history repeats itself on this one. Announced date + 1 week = Actual Date???? I will keep my ears pressed to the walls for this one and update if I hear anything new.
The "other" part of this rumor came true, please look at this thread title (Just received a replacement DVP and it's got Mango on it!!)
Dell was ready to ship some of their devices 1 week after the article was written. They ship device overnight and the thread was created on September 13.

I didn't mean a new VP, I meant new mango devices in general......rarely are new OS's first distributed as an upgrade to existing devices. Usually new devices get it first...

In the US at least only at&t has announced new hardware and they have committed to a fast update rollout so it would seem there shouldnt really be a delay due to new hardware.
its the 20th! cant wait if this is true!
just got this reply from samsung uk on twitter

Pleace be real!!
I want to, but i just can not beleieve it Samsung are an awful company, they have improved their quality a lot, but the support for the products is awful, anyway 15 years ago it was a bad idea to buy a Samsung anything, now it still is a bad one. I will never ever even think of purchasing any their products again

On Samsung / uk at the support, is as follows:
SAMSUNG Kies, PC Sync (Sep 27, 2011)
That means? GINGERBREADDDD!
3 Days!!! Any in UK that already installed the new Kies is there any update?
Thanks
not yet in Bulgaria ;(
I updated the KiES but it still says that the tab is updated to latest firmware..
@Malicieux - dude, do not expect it to pop up first in Bulgaria, I still do not believe that there will be an update for us, but if i am wrong, i would not wait for it to be rolled out by Samsung Bulgaria ...
Just received the Kies update and when connect to my P1010 it says the S/W version in your phone is not an official version when in fact it is the original. I did do a couple of temp rooting with z4root.
Notes that the version is: PDA:KC6 / CSC:KC6(XAR)
Thoughts?
i got the same message on mine. someone else on another thread got the same thing on an un-altered P1000, so I'm hoping it's a sign that GB is indeed on it's way.
Going to attempt an update as soon as I get home- Anyone else have any news on this?
No updates to me atm
Bought in France and I live in Belgium

gingerbred not released, only Kies.
Also no gingerbread update for P1010 here in Germany... =(
Samsung proves it again and again ... never buy Samsung, actually all these updates saga leaves a bad taste for Android, a colleague of mine is a customer of the Fruit Company and he does not have to live this whole ordeal, everything just works, all of the updates come on time and samsung does not produce the phone for his OS of choise.
