Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had a Nandroid backup of the original Android 2.3.0 ROM for the Nexus S, build GRH55?
If so, would you be willing to hook me up with it?
Thanks!

is that for the 9020a? or is that 54? I forget, but I have that one (orig 9020a)
Hi - It would be the original Android 2.3.0 ROM that came on the first I9020T phones back in mid December when the phone came out. The build number is GRH55, not to be confused with GRI54 which was the build of Android 2.3.3 that came on I9023. Thanks!
I can post Odin image
edit
my mistake its GRH78
try contacting Samsung support maybe they can link it up for you or something

I show to have one dated 12/18/2010. Being that early should be 2.3.0. Sending by pm.

Good work Google, this is exactly the update we've all been waiting for you to release!
Hummmm
Smells like a minor to prepare the ground for GB...
Agreed thats exactly what i thought

My N1 isnt rooted, running stock 2.2.1, I never seem to get these updates even when using *#*#CHECKIN#*#* what would be wrong? Bootloader is unlocked, shouldnt I still be able to get OTA updates?
just worked for me on my stock nex luthor, bohemus.

Lovely, another update that doesn't fix the WPA-EAP bug.

I doubt it has anything to do with GB. It is just a collection of pretty minor changes across the board.
To me it looks like rather bad news: what is the point of pushing out yet another minor update if there is a major update waiting just around the corner?

Same here! Can't remember the last time I got an OTA update. It's almost like I've been taken out of Google's update queue or something. It's very odd :-\
Well ... it is 2.2.2 to N1 and 2.3.2 to NS , at the same time ...
Just got it here. N1 stock was running 2.1. Suddenly came up.
Now running
Android version: 2.2.2
Baseband version: 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
Kernal version: 2.6.32.9-27240-gbca5320 [email protected] #1
Build number: FRG83G

Cool...looks like it updated your radio version from 4.06 to 5.08?
Did it update your HBoot version from .33 to.35?
I bet it's the SMS bugfixes that have been getting all that press recently and has nothing to do with laying the groundwork for GB or HC or IC or whatever else.

I agree this does seem like bad news.
Android is in a really bad news cycle right now and Google is trying to do damage control.

awesomeface!
About time.
They'll probably update all the N:S's first, then move on to the N:1's.
I'd say I'm a week or two away yet, but at least it's been announced.
It's about time! Can't wait.
haha i'll probably just wait for a good rom to come out
With CM7 apparently getting the Wonk fixed tonight.
Battery percentage being merged in CM7 tonight.
And now this I must say I am excited. I am also anticipating some new open source 2d/3d drivers from Google and some hardware acceleration love for the interface on the N1.
Finally, with the XOOM having it's bootloader unlocked, awesome Android day!
Hopefully, existing root methods continue to work.
Can anyone find a downloadable link of the update file?
It will roll out at the same time

Not trying to be an ass, but wrong forum, and just grab some Cyanogenmod 7.0!
Or wait, it's you're choice bud!
I have a Verizon trophy that I upgraded to Mango and my backup got deleted! Does anyone know where to get the official rom from? I have search repeatedly for the last week and can't find it. Any help is appreciated!
Edit: nevermind, I was told the provision.exe I ran to update it made the backup I needed. Besides, I updated to 7720 and everything is working great

Hello all,
Recently acquired the 3.2 update for my A501, but now wish to roll back to the standard rom, due to a warranty claim, plus it has no root function, as yet.
Could you point me in the right direction for the ROM that was realesed for the Asia-pacific region?
thanks chris.

Hi everyone,
I downloaded the 2.3.6 (latest one) update, followed all instructions and tried to install it. However, I get a "signature verification failed" message.
I bought this phone brand new from some guy on kijiji and currently using it on Rogers - with everything working perfectly fine (minus the annoying search bug) Here are my specs:
current version: 2.3.4
Baseband: I9020AUCKD1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-ge382d80
Build #: GRJ22
Please help!!!
Thanks!
Are you sure you are installing the update for the i9020a and not the one for the i9020t?

Thanks for the tip. I will hold off on this plan for now then.
I just don't know why I haven't received a SINGLE OTA update till date. I am still stuck on 2.3.4. I didn't even receive one for the GRK39C 2.3.6 a few weeks ago. Any reason why?

I didn't receive the update either. Google cancelled it I believe because it broke USB tethering, which people use a lot more than voice search.
I'm just waiting for the Ice Cream Sandwich update
Couldn't care less about Gingerbread these days.

As stated, the update killed tethering, both USB and hotspot.
As for why you did not get it, the explanation is simple. When El'Goog push out an OTA, it does so to a set percentage of phones, as each day rolls by, they add more and more phones, untill over a week or two period of time, all phones get the update.
with the 2.3.6, the update got canceled before being released to all the phones, your phone just happened to be in the group that had not received it yet.
Now as to why the current one failed, the 2.3.6 that is listed in my sticky applies to ONLY the i9020T/i9023 and NOT the i9020a, so the signature will fail.
if you grab the OTA from the thread that is listing ALL ota's, it should apply, if you still get a signature failure, please state the ENTIRE message as it should indicate what fails the signature.
I got the update last night cause I'm using the i9020A and I'm currently on 2.3.4 ... it failed on me when I pressed install...

2.3.6 that was released on the AT&T/GSM version was pulled several weeks ago. The rollout of the fixed 2.3.6 for that version of the Nexus S has started rolling out as well. There's not a tethering issue with the 2.3.6 that is rolling out to the T-Mobile version.
Has anyone noticed any differences between 2.3.4 and 2.3.6?
I mean in terms of speed, performance and stability.
Is the update really worth it?
