sorry, i cant tell if your serious or being sarcastic.
I think he is serious, someone else mentioned it in the AOSP thread.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/06/23/latest-nexus-one-froyo-rom-leak-frf83/
it says you cant use this new build if you have FRF72 installed.
I had FRF72 installed and when i turned my phone on after work i got a notification to update and here it is with FRF83...When i make it home to my SDK i will post Screen shot if you want so you know i aint trollin
Anything noticeably new? Signal strength, UI, ect?
Actually, FRF72 error I saw was that the guy had a custom recovery installed. It needs to be the stock recovery to work. He was complaining that it didn't work with the clockwork recovery. Of course it wouldn't work with that.
If you install the stock recovery, and your FRF72 is NOT rooted, it should update fine.

People keep referring to this, how do you do this?
is there any link that I can download this FRF83 update from FRF72?
since one that lying around this forum is FRF83 from FRF50
maybe OP could look into his logcat and give us the link?

If you ain't joking, then it's good news for unrooted users like me who manually installed FRF72. Ooh can't wait!
Yup.. using Amon_RA recovery, and I cannot install the FRF83 nor FRF72 because of that....
Thinking about going back to CM 5.0.8 again....

Is there any way you could capture (could have captured) the .zip file your phone used for that OTA? If so then all us FRF72 users should keep a lookout for that, and maybe we'll be able to locate the correct file to upgrade our build.
The folks who get the update need to download Alogcat from the market and run it before the update starts. The log will show the location of the file.
Androidandme FRF83 OTA
edit: an sorry Alogcat wasnt installed but when i get home, if no one has posted it yet i will check the log
Its Minor at like 600ish kb
if you're waiting for the OTA, restart your phone and do
Code:
#*#*2432546#*#*
which spells out "checkin"
I am on stock ERE27 - will #*#*2432546#*#* work for me

It will just display a "checkin succeeded" notification which kinda says to the towers "yo im here" doesnt mean you'll get it right then and there but its happened before

They usually release only to a few thousand at a time the first few days, then up to 10,000 a day a few days later or something like that, so you might not get it till next week if its truly coming out.
They also have typically announced the update in the Verizonwireless.com forums under the android\incredible section. Until you see it there I would consider it a rumor.
Im just wondering if we will even get the ota if we're rooted or if we will have to unroot first.
According to this, the update is for real:

Oops...can't post a link yet.
hey OP, make this a poll
I've been seeing it everywhere, but haven't gotten it yet.

gonna have to unroot to get updates.
EDIT: I take this back. It depends on your version. If you have an older version of software and you have not turned off notifications you will get the notification to update. If, however you're running a froyo ROM then my understanding is that you won't see the update.
Been on all the android forums today , so far nobody has gotten the update OTA.
If it was out today vzw would confirm it like they did when we got the first update.
All I heard today was a friend of a friend got the update , RIGHT !
Verizon hasn't released the "official" OTA, but there is a leaked version that people are downloading and installing. It appears to be authentic, but since not an OTA may affect future Radio updates if you install it. Plenty of info over at the Droid Forum.

I'm really anxious to get the update, but I'm going to wait for the OTA. I updated my Eris with a leaked OTA, and I ended up regretting it. It made rooting much more difficult, and stopped me from getting the final OTA.

Do you know how it stopped you from getting the final OTA? i would think if you wiped and went back to a stock ROM the network wouldn't know the difference.

Nope. Known issue with the Eris leak.
Well, I'm not sure if if I have the OTA or not, or just part of it.
I rooted with the original instructions, then updated everything with Unrevoked 3.1. Stock ROM installed, have working WIFI tether.
Yesterday, got a message in my notification bar that a Verizon widget was available. I can now add a new Data Usage widget to my desktop, which says "Data Usage 0.0/0 MB Estimate as of N/A". Not sure why it isn't updating, but it's possible that it's related to me having a corporate rather than a personal account.
Never got a prompt to install any OTA. Tethering still works.
Hardware version 0002, Firmware version 2.1-update1
So maybe the Verizon widget was pushed by itself without the full OTA since I don't have the standard recovery?
FYI, the OTA has been halted in favor of packaging it up with the official Android FroYo v2.2 update. So instead up two OTA's we will have one OTA to rule them all!

No, the recommendation would probably be to hold your horses and wait till the OTA get's patched so we can simply upgrade without any hassle.
So installed 2.2.1 on my phone via sdcard blah blah blah. That's it. Nothing else. No changes unless that update did it itself. Someone said as long as you did just that, I can still update to the official OTA 2.2. They said this doesn't block updates, changing roms and kernels does. Is this true cause if so then ill just wait till the update and not revert back to stock.
no. you will not recieve ota updates running anything except official stock rom. that would be di18 or older.

you say changing roms is what affects updates, well, what do you think you did by flashing 2.2?
that is changing the rom!
Relax, take a deep breath, and stop making threads.
If your phone works fine now, go with it. The official update will be leaked here too, and you will be able to flash it the same way you flashed DK28.
Will you be able to get it OTA? Possibly, but Sprint rolls everything out slowly. I got my phone 2 weeks ago and it claimed I was on the newest version: DG27! Obviously DI18 was out but their OTA system is flaky at best.
If you want to go back to being part of the masses, go read the thread about how to Odin back to stock and wait patiently for Sprint to update you.
If you want the latest and greatest, stick with DK28 and flash the new version when it comes out.
Simple as that.
hi lucjoe!
Oh well shi*. I didn't even think about that. Yeah ill just wait till the official version comes out download.it and flsh it. Haha sweet then my phone will be official again no worries! Genius! God I'm an idiot....

NO it didn't i just found the link to the "official" update and downloaded it, flashed it and thats it. chances are, the ACTUAL leaked version will be able to download before the OTA actually hits.

When I first got the epic my first phone was on dg27 and after 2 days still wouldn't update so I did it myself with odin. I took it back cause I felt maybe there was something wrong since it wouldn't update itself. The one I have now came with di18 on it. Why do some phones not update themselves?

It has nothing to do with the phone. The OTA system rolls out slowly across the country. Also, the function to check for updates seems to not actually check the main server, but rather waits for updates to be pushed to it. This push could take a few days even if your area is live for the update.
Just another reason to flash from our wonderful community and ignore their OTA updates. Also, a terrible reason to return a phone...
Are you saying that if I waited long enough it might have updated itself? I called sprint tech and explained to them that I was two updates behind and they said it should have updated by now and that it must have an issue. So he said take it back to where I got it and he would put a note in my acct. That the phone was defective. So I played with it that night and flashed the update to it and rooted it just to learn.

Hi all, Q&A forum wasn't much help. Perhaps you can shed some light for me.
I've been disconnected from the Epic community recently. Just the other day I found out about the official Froyo update, but my phone has never notified me about this. Also, when I go into settings to check for updates, it tells me there is none.
Everything tells me they are up to date; profile, firmware, and Android, but when I try to update the PRL it tells me I need to reset the radio. I have no idea what that means or if it's even relevant to why I cannot upgrade to 2.2.
How do I get my phone to update? I haven't been able to find anything in a search.
If it helps, my PRL version is 60676 and my firmware is 2.1-update 1.
Thanks for any help.
Update was pulled because it contain "bugs". Search for EB13 zip.exe ON HERE and you should find a mirror. Most users recommend using odin to install or factory reset 3 times then do the upgrade and you won't have any bugs. That's what I did. Their is a camera bug that is really bad but their is a fix in the development section. Search in there "EB13 camera patch".

I think what happend was that sprint pulled the OTA cuz of some issues. However u can use odin and download the .tar file here found in the development section and that should work with now issues or if u don't want to loose any data look for the update.zip in the dev section also. Sorry I can't give links cuz im on my phone but it shouldn't be to had to find good luck if u have more questions just pm me

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. Now I'm orientated with all this, I gotta avoid another prolonged absence here so I don't get so lost again.
i did the update through ODIN and it worked fine because the update was pulled
so far no issues
if u do the update with CW3 mod and EXT4 through ODIN, i don't believe the stock ROM will work
Any reason my phone didn't alert me when the update was available? It had always done that before with other updates (not market).

Before anyone says it, please know I have been reading through many threads that mention this problem, but I am wondering if people are still having this problem now that they are pushing updates.
When I go to system updates and attempt to check firmware, update profile, or update prl...all I get is the Unknown Error in return.
I was once rooted and returned back to DI18 in hopes of getting the pushed OTA this week. Is anyone still having this problem? I am simply trying to make sure that my flash is not causing this problem. I used Odin and the link from the XDA forums to go back to stock. I am not rooted.
Thank you guys in advance for your reply and all of your help.
I have never had anything but stock everything and I'm getting the Unknown Error most of the time for all of them with the occasional No Update Available message sprinkled in.
I have EB13 which I received OTA before they pulled it fwiw.
I also have had nothing but stock and am seeing the same thing. Still waiting on ota.

Thanks guys. I just was making sure I wasnt the only one here having that issue. It sounded like everyone now is on Ec05 and i wanted to make sure I wasnt handicapped in some way.
Anything related to provisioning or Sprint Profile information related to the Epic and a few other Sprint phones will not connect. PRL 60777 cane out and all other Sprint devices can update to it, but they messed something up on the towers when they tried to put EC05 on it.
The way it looks currently is that the OTA is for DI18.... You can odin back to DI18 and wait for the OTA if you want cause that maybe the only way to get it if you are unwilling to flash a ROM from here. Hopefully sprint won't leave the EB13'ers out in the cold....

Do you mean ever or just this second? I thought it was just hitting DI18 users first and the small proportion of us who got EB13 OTA will be getting it last, either today or tomorrow.
Unless I'm outdated, the release said EB13 was getting it as well... but of course take what you will from a Sprint announcement.
I've never rooted or flashed or done anything like that... I just can't imagine they'd punish me for receiving the EB13 OTA quicker than a lot of other people.
Im on Eb13 and got a text from sprint last night letting me know it was coming. Anyone else from eb13 got the ota yet?
