Hi all, Q&A forum wasn't much help. Perhaps you can shed some light for me.
I've been disconnected from the Epic community recently. Just the other day I found out about the official Froyo update, but my phone has never notified me about this. Also, when I go into settings to check for updates, it tells me there is none.
Everything tells me they are up to date; profile, firmware, and Android, but when I try to update the PRL it tells me I need to reset the radio. I have no idea what that means or if it's even relevant to why I cannot upgrade to 2.2.
How do I get my phone to update? I haven't been able to find anything in a search.
If it helps, my PRL version is 60676 and my firmware is 2.1-update 1.
Thanks for any help.
Update was pulled because it contain "bugs". Search for EB13 zip.exe ON HERE and you should find a mirror. Most users recommend using odin to install or factory reset 3 times then do the upgrade and you won't have any bugs. That's what I did. Their is a camera bug that is really bad but their is a fix in the development section. Search in there "EB13 camera patch".

I think what happend was that sprint pulled the OTA cuz of some issues. However u can use odin and download the .tar file here found in the development section and that should work with now issues or if u don't want to loose any data look for the update.zip in the dev section also. Sorry I can't give links cuz im on my phone but it shouldn't be to had to find good luck if u have more questions just pm me

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. Now I'm orientated with all this, I gotta avoid another prolonged absence here so I don't get so lost again.
i did the update through ODIN and it worked fine because the update was pulled
so far no issues
if u do the update with CW3 mod and EXT4 through ODIN, i don't believe the stock ROM will work
Any reason my phone didn't alert me when the update was available? It had always done that before with other updates (not market).

Hello,
Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldnt find anything when I searched.
I am trying to go back to stock on my Vibrant just like when I first got it out the box.
I flashed the unofficial update JI2 and then the JI6 through Odin, but now I want to go back to stock to see if I get the update from Tmobile or just do it through Kies.
In order for me to do this I have to go to stock and I cant find or know to to do it. I seem to be getting this whole Odin thing so if I can do it this way it would be great. Please let me know. Thanks.
I search Development section, but none of those worked for me. Not sure if Im doing something wrong.
I am no expert by any mean just a noobie but I downloaded the files on the link posted in I believe it was the Development section that was the JDF Odin stock rom etc. Look for it posted in there or search it and it will come up. I used Odin and it went smoothly and then I updated to ji6.I believe the link below is what you are looking for.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Here is the link again for some reason it shows up when I save it but when I exit out and come back it is gone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Ok, so I did find this one, but I had no luck!
So did you click on the last one that says All 3 Files?
Or did you click them one by one?
you should try a custom rom before going back to stock!

Either way you want to do it. The 3 files-in-one is a smaller download if that matters to you. But they're all the same...
Also, in the Vibrant Bible, there's a link to Odin1.3 which worked well when I had to go from JI5 (via Kies) back to JFD for the Kies Mini update to JI6. Just fyi, I'm running Win7 Pro 64-bit, not sure what your setup is like.
When you say you had no luck, did you mean you couldn't get into download mode or Odin didn't work for you? For Odin to work you have to make sure the ID:COM in the upper left is populated with a number. Otherwise Odin is essentially saying that it doesn't see your phone, most likely due to driver issues.
Thanks for the help! I finally got it to work!

Why would you want the OTA if you already flashed it? Now you may run the risk of soft bricking after accepting the update... Maybe it's just past me at this early hour, but can't figure out why you wanna do this.
posting to save this thread to refer back to later
The reason I wanted to try Kies OTA is because of the missing Market apps and also because I was having lag problems with the flashed version.
Actually everything went smooth after I figured out how to do it.
Unfortunately there are still missing apps, But my phone runs alot smoother.

A few weeks ago when the leaked version of froyo came out for the epic, i attempted to put it on my phone via SD card. However every time I booted into manual mode, and selected "Update.zip" it failed.
So I put my SD card in another person's Epic, and it worked fine. Im curious as to why that was, neither phone was rooted, all stock.
#2, the 2.2 i put on my friends phone is very buggy and she doesn't like it very much. In attempting to flash it back to stock via Odin, and it doesn't seem to want to work either.
If engadget is correct in saying the OTA update is the day after Christmas. Will her Epic still receive the update?
Thanks

But I am feeling kind today.
So add me on gtalk

On the sole condition you come back in your thread and post what ended up working. So other noobs like yourself can learn from you.
FYI this is my second day with my epic and I am alrady rooted and on a custom froyo rom. I did it ALL by following directions
I'm almost positive I've fixed my friends phone. But if for some reason it isn't fixed then I will post.
However id still like to know if her phone will still receive the ota update.

Pretty sure that it will not.
And If it does it could actually be a very bad thing.
I would recommend instructing your friend not to do so. and instead if shes want to use the ota flash back to stock first or merely wait for a rom based off the ota to surface. a lot of headaches may be avoided.
Remember that root is generally removed by ota updates. additionally My friend did an ota on his rooted/rom'd phone (not an epic) and bricked. I was able to unbrick but it was a PITA. Hopefully that helps
Please post questions in General section.
Had my Fascinate since launch date. Waited and saw the DI01 come through/ tried to update my phone...install failed miserably..no matter how many times I tried, even did full restore.
I was going to try to get a full DL09 and flash it to my phone, I have Odin, downloaded the .tar file. But got frustrated. I'm pretty computer literate, but for some reason this stuff just escapes me. Anyway went to VZW today and ordered a warranty replacement, should be here Friday. Hopefully this one works and I will either wait for the rumored 22nd release date of Froyo or I will try and download it and flash it...if I can do it.
What hardware version?
Why didn't u post here before u ordered a replacement. It really seem s like the problem was not the phone but what u did.

I did nothing other than what the phone told me to do. If you had read what I posted I have had the phone since day 1 launch. Have not attempted to root or put any other version of firmware on my phone.
So don't come at me sideways about it. I did nothing to my phone...yet
Sorry to hear about your issues, but we probably could have helped you out with getting updated. There was a phone in a local VZW store that is stuck on DH12 as well cause the DI01 update kept failing.

It's all good man. Getting a brand new phone as opposed to a refurbished one. I understand what to do, I get the general idea as to how, I can read the steps but I am more of a visual learner, so pictures to go along with these install steps would help someone out like me.
I also work for a VZW Premium Retailer. Corporate stores don't like us much, so kinda shocked the Sales Rep that I had as much knowledge about the phone as I did. It's actually a known software problem with the phones. As well as the issue that if you use the unlock pattern on the phone and fail at it 19 times or more it will lock the phone out...it will ask you for the gmail information that you provided but even that will not work, resetting the phone to stock will not work...I was told this by a Samsung Tech Agent that it was a known software issue with their devices.
Got my new phone today.DL09 on the Baseband....now on to root, and Froyo...hopefully
Godspeed, good sir...

Huh? Im not trying to come at you sideways as it says in your first post, you tried to flash DL09, had problems and then went to verizon for a replacement. (Hence the reason why I said some people here could have helped possibly).
Either way, hope you get froyo onto your fine, good luck.
Could you help me? I'm on DH12 and voodoo v.2... i'm trying to basically go back to stock with all the bloat and no root so that I can return the phone...if I choose to... which steps should I take? a direction to a post will suffice... Thank you...

First you should disable voodoo.
Then follow this post. It should wipe your phone and put a completely stock version of DL09 on it.
Just make sure to use the PDA button in Odin only.

You don't even have to disable voodoo. Just flash that and you're done.
Personally I've learn once you do an OTA update, it will not allow you to do it again. It has happened to me when I've tried to do every offical update more than once
thank you for the quick information, I will try it now and report back.
Before anyone says it, please know I have been reading through many threads that mention this problem, but I am wondering if people are still having this problem now that they are pushing updates.
When I go to system updates and attempt to check firmware, update profile, or update prl...all I get is the Unknown Error in return.
I was once rooted and returned back to DI18 in hopes of getting the pushed OTA this week. Is anyone still having this problem? I am simply trying to make sure that my flash is not causing this problem. I used Odin and the link from the XDA forums to go back to stock. I am not rooted.
Thank you guys in advance for your reply and all of your help.
I have never had anything but stock everything and I'm getting the Unknown Error most of the time for all of them with the occasional No Update Available message sprinkled in.
I have EB13 which I received OTA before they pulled it fwiw.
I also have had nothing but stock and am seeing the same thing. Still waiting on ota.

Thanks guys. I just was making sure I wasnt the only one here having that issue. It sounded like everyone now is on Ec05 and i wanted to make sure I wasnt handicapped in some way.
Anything related to provisioning or Sprint Profile information related to the Epic and a few other Sprint phones will not connect. PRL 60777 cane out and all other Sprint devices can update to it, but they messed something up on the towers when they tried to put EC05 on it.
The way it looks currently is that the OTA is for DI18.... You can odin back to DI18 and wait for the OTA if you want cause that maybe the only way to get it if you are unwilling to flash a ROM from here. Hopefully sprint won't leave the EB13'ers out in the cold....

Hey man. Thanks for the reply and the help. I have run your ROM and loved it. Thanks for the hard work you have put into it and a special thanks for sharing your life with us. Very encouraging.
I have downloaded the EC05 from google, but I am just trying to see what the OTA experience is as I have always just rooted and flashed before.

Do you mean ever or just this second? I thought it was just hitting DI18 users first and the small proportion of us who got EB13 OTA will be getting it last, either today or tomorrow.
Unless I'm outdated, the release said EB13 was getting it as well... but of course take what you will from a Sprint announcement.
I've never rooted or flashed or done anything like that... I just can't imagine they'd punish me for receiving the EB13 OTA quicker than a lot of other people.
Im on Eb13 and got a text from sprint last night letting me know it was coming. Anyone else from eb13 got the ota yet?

Maybe there are some threads about this topic, but for some reason I can not find them, so I decided to ask here:
Is everybody who is using stock rom on Nexus S already on 2.3.3?
I am still on 2.3.2, because the OTA did not reach me, yet.
I know, Google said that it will take some weeks, but the was a lot of weeks ago.
I am dialing the *#*#2432546#*#* at least once per week, but no luck.
I don't want to root and and push it manually.
Anyone else in the same situation?
you don't need root to push it manually.
you just download the .zip from "2.3.3 links" thread, rename it to update.zip place it on the root of your sdcard.
boot into recovery, install update.zip from sdcard
reboot... grats on your 2.3.3
i think for the nexus s you don't need to rename to update.zip. i didn't have to for 2.3.2
I'm still waiting too I had my nexus s since January what's really good
There had been reports where people aren't getting the ota anymore. So manually update or don't get it at all.

I believe they abandoned it and opted to push a newer update which would be released in April. But its almost May so who knows.
The manual update is incredibly painless. I don't understand why people are insisting on OTA.
Quick question regarding the manual update. Will I get future updates OTA after manually updating.?

yes its the same file you get from the OTA.
manual update was painless
I did as suggested, and it worked just fine.
I actually like the new color scheme. It looks more natural to me.
BUT, every time i wake up my phone from stand by, I get to see the GPS icon blinking in the notification bar.
Sometimes, even WiFi switches on itself.
I never saw this behaviour on the 2.3.2 build.
Is this the phone trying to update its location?
I don't want to switch off GPS or Networkin the Location & security settings, as I use Google maps multiple times a day.
