Hi,
I am trying to remap the "back" hardware key, as it's stupidly placed so that I accidentaly press it and lose all my text entered when typing emails.
Which of the files should be modified in system/usr/keylayout, and which one is the "back" key?
The tool from the link I can not post here says the code for the button is 4, but it also says the code is 4 for the touchscreen button on front of the Milestone 2:
Thanks!

Hi all,
I need help, after intalling wrong version of AEB plus the "Hold comm manager" button function is now lost, possibly the registry key is gone... can anyone upload the relevant keys please?
well after i installed an new rom on my tmobile wing i got an error message saying error cant find soft keys so on my home screen there is no soft keys? idk what to do and i am panicking
What Rom did you flash?
as of now I would go to the Windows folder, Subfolder StartUp and see if there is an link with the name: vijaytodayshrink.lnk.
If it is there delete this link and you get your Softkeys back.

edit: one thing, the softkeys are only not on the Screen, the mainkeys right and left on your Phone are working, if it is this with the link.

What rom did you flash to? I flashed to open touch 5.1 and I think I got that same error message, but my soft keys did work anyway. You can always just copy the included file into your windows directory, and then do a soft reset. Then, you can go to start/settings/system/soft key and reassign it.
I used to be able to press the * (asterisk) key on my old dash/excalibur phone to toggle full screen in apps such as slingplayer.
But I have noticed that the * key on my new HTC Snap (s522) is not recognized by many apps. On my S522, the asterisk is a "alt+" function, but even if I press the ALT key first, then the "A" key (which has the * on it to), the app wont recognize it.
I also found that when playing doom4ce, when you try to exit by pressing the "Y" key to the Prompt "Exit", it also will not work
Can anyone give me any clues as to how to fix this - such as modifying some keymap file?
If so, what is the name of this keyboard file and where is it located?
Any tips on how to modify it would be greatly appreciated!

What rom are U running? If you are running 3vo custom rom, keymapping is built in just need to enable it (english UK, USA....etc) if you are not. Check the sticky (Rom Dev. Section) you will find a tutorial over there.
I hope that helps

1. Try the second method of restoring the Nook from this link :
http://nookdevs.com/Nook_Simple_Touch_restore_to_stock
2. key layout files should be in the official B&N update zip.
