Location of applications?? - Xperia Arc General

Maybe I'm just plain blind, but where are all the apps stored? I'm trying to edit the init.conf file (or whatever it was called that named the icon) but can't find it! It was easy to find on the X10.
I'm sure I'm just being blind or dense, can someone point me in the right direction?

Anyone?

Xoom Family /system pull

Lots of real good stuff in here. I took out a ~420MB file that was superfluous, but otherwise it is all that I can pull out of a Family. Enjoy

Did you click the link wrong? I'm downloading fine right now. Actually at a pretty good speed, its saturating my 10Mb connection. Downloaded more than half while typing this.

Should work fine. I don't know about this server's availability in other countries, but as far as I know it works within the US. Perhaps a different browser could be tried?

Tried that. It doesn't appear that read permissions are granted for "everyone." I might try one or two things later today if I find time though...

There is a module in lib that asphalt is associated with.
Try it?
Im trying to find the MotoPrint one.
what is this actually? sry this may be a noob question.. but can someone explaine to me?
Oh shoot, I know why Asphalt won't start. I thought I read that you were trying to get some other app to work earlier, not Asphalt. That is actually the "superfluous" file I did not include, erroneously thinking no one would miss it. I'll upload it separately.

This is the /system directory from a Xoom Family tablet. If that means nothing to you, it probably isn't suited to your interests. There are some easily usable goodies in there that may work on other devices, but there are no guarantees- and most of the contents are technical items integral to Android. You are welcome to download it and see what sort of trouble you can get in to ;-)
OP updated with remaining file for folks who are having trouble getting Asphalt to work. Now if it doesn't work, I really don't know what else to tell ya!
Asphalts looking for a file in the lib I've got everything working except the encyclopedia. Well I think anyway ashpalt is still downloading the game. Its 523MB download. I made a flashable zip IF Asphalt works I will consider uploading it.

Very nice. Are you using these files on a Xoom or some other device? (Isn't SimCity just like the old school SimCity2000 that I wasted my youth on? )

There is a flashable file already listed. Flash file. No apks needed. If you do not like certain apks just remove them from the update script or remove them after install.

Download the HTC ROM you want the icons from, pull the icons from the frameworkres.apk, and systemui.apk, replace them in a copy of your frameworkres.apk, and systemui.apk, and flash them on your tab

I'd give you some cheese to go along with that whine, but instead, I'll give you a link.
http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
Setup what you want there, upload the systemui.apk, and freameworkres.apk from your phone, they'll cook the changes for you, then download the cooked file, but you're still going to have to extract, and then inject them into your tab. If you can't at the very least do that, search the market, I know there's a program that does it for the n00bs, I just can't remember the name of it
That's it for the spoon feeding.

[Q] Wallpaper find rom

Does anyone have the default wallpaper for the marcusant revival rom? Also when a rom has a default wallpaper where can you find it on the internal storage or the rom package?
/system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable/default_wallpaper
Same place in the zip file, as on your phones internal memory.
Ok so my son changed background on this rom and I cant figure out how to get the stock red back can anyone explain

No software, but these are he essentials
Apktool
7zip/WINrar
GIMP/Photoshop/Paint.net
General idea where things are at
I Mean, the Stausbar and dropdown images are easy. Wouldn't make me long to do that. But a full theme, it's ridiculous how long it takes. Things are so different from the S3 too. I'm not even close to being done with mine lol.

Yeah of course. Lemme track one down for ya now, u first you need to DL the Android Sdk and Java JDK. But that stuff may be part of the Guide that I'm looking for. Hang tight!
I always liked this guide for ADB. Setting up he system variables is very important. That where the PATH comes into play with ADB.
http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-set-up-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows-tutorial/
Take a read here for apktool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213985
I must warn you, with our devices there are work arounds with a bunch of system apps and framework as well. Before you jump n with both feet, I'd do a bunch of reading as you go along. I mean read abut everything.
How to properly edit .9 PNGs
Xmls
Smali
And such......
But once you get the android Sdk installed and apktool (make sure you extract all 3 files to your Windows directory) the easiest for me to start with was the systemui.apk. That's where you'll find the statusbar Icons, and toggles, dropdown, and such. I could keep going, and going lol but I sure don't have the time for tht lol. There are a TON of amazing Guides out there. I'm still a novice myself, but there's always something to learn. Hope this helps ya out a bit

Yeah it is super overwhelming alot of the times. Unfortunately for myself, Instead of focusing on one task at a time, i try to do 6 or 7 at a time. Dont do that lol, cause you'll stress out. I don't mind admitting that:thumbup:
But if i were you, you already have the SDK and I'm assuming ADB all set. Extract the 3 necessary files for apktool. Rip my SystemUI.apk from my ICS theme, and see what I edited. Look at the titles. Same may look and sound familiar and most will boggle yur mind. Take all those images from drawable-xxhdpi and put them in a new folder. Grab a Fresh systemui.apk from a stock ROM and decompile it. Take my images and start changing the colors. Be careful of the .9 images. You'll see the Black ticks on the outside of them. Make sure they don't get touched, or the apk won't compile, and if it does things will not look right or even FC.
This is where I started, with the systemui.apk. But Read, Read, read. It'd the best way to learn. I could help with the basics, and some other things, but i still bug the he'll out of other themers. Mainly Dazednconfused and Rompnit, but there super cool about it. They love that they can give back. Anyway, im turning this into a Guide/Novel haha.... You can hit menus on Gtalk if ya need to. I'm always around pate in the afternoon [email protected]

Porting a theme is also a great way to learn the ins and outs of theming.
