[Q] How to instantly sync MT4G Contacts with GV Contacts - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Initially, my MT4G Contacts list was retrieved from my Google Voice contacts.
On my desktop PC, I recently made some changes to my Google Voice contacts.
Added 2 new contacts and edited 3 existing contacts.
How can I make the MT4G sync up with these changes?

How to transfer all contacts to google contacts?

Say we have a large amount of contacts that are saved to the phone. How do we go about making them google contacts after they are already in without having to manually save each number?
just do a google sync; menu>settings>accounts & sync>gmail>contacts sync
I had to use HTC Sync to pull them into Outlook, then export them in from Outlook as a csv. Then, upload the csv to your gmail account. Next, sync your phone to your gmail contacts, and that will pull them down to your phone as Google contacts. Most of them will link to your phone contacts in "People" so they don't appear twice, but some may need to be linked manually.

Double contact in Contacts...

Hi everyone. I have some trouble that there are some copies of every contact in my phonebook. It seems that Sim, Phone and Google contacts are displayed. I just want to see only Phone contacts for example when Im choosing people to send sms... How to??
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
If you press menu and show, you can choose which contacts to see. A tip: sync with Google contacts only, and edit your contacts from Google contacts on your Pc. You can merge contacts etc.

Contacts do not apear in gmail

Hello,
I understand that Google Sync is supposed to keep my contacts safe so I never loose them.
I initially started of with a nokia 5230, I used Ovi Suite to import all my contacts in Outlook, then I got them to my HTC Hero with HTC Sync. All great.
I also notice I have contacts that where in my gmail account, and I've even linked them with my phone and facebook contacts.
However, if I now login to my Gmail account, I only see the gmail contacts in there, no phone contacts.
I had the same problem. In your 'People' application (Contacts) on the phone, if you hit menu and then export the contacts to your SD card, you can then import them back to your Google contacts area on the phone. This is the only contacts/People area that will synchronise with Google.
After doing that, just go into View under the contacts menu and choose to view only Google contacts. The phone contacts list will still be there just not viewable as you will be loking at Google contacts instead.
I have done this and avoid sync with Outlook as I was getting too many duplicates - all synchronisation now is direct between the phone and Google. I do however use Coogle Calendar Sync between Google and Outlook and it seems to work OK.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, I'll try that.

[Q] How To Get Merge Device Contacts With Google On AT&T I377

Hi. When I press the Menu key under CONTACTS "Merge Contacts" option is missing. It's on other devices. I'd like this option because I'd like to merge my device contacts with my google contacts at anytime. It's not the same as syncing to my google account. My device contacts don't appear in my gmail contacts. Is this only missing from the AT&T I337 models only? I don't wanna import a .csv file into gmail and then sync down to my device. I wanna be able to merge my local contacts with my gmail contacts just in case I forget to save a new contact to my gmail account.
Which ROM should I install to get this feature enabled? I think its disabled because of the ability to use a AT&T Address Book Subscription for syncing purposes. I'm on a different Carrier and wouldn't need any of AT&T bloated features.
I'm not talking about Merging Duplicate Contacts. I just wanna merge phone contacts to gmail account.

I found the answer. I had to root the device and then flash the ROM to either GoldenEye 8.0 or Mint Jelly or AROMA Alpha v11

Contacts disappeared after removing a recently added secondary Google account

Seems like most of my contacts, which were saved only to the phone internally, has disappeared after I removed a secondary Google account (my brother's who borrowed my phone).
Weird thing is, if I search for the contacts, they show up, even ones that are not part of the call history. So, it seems like my original contacts are hidden somewhere. Only using default contacts app.
I also tried searching the directories for the contacts.db file but could not find it via the phone connected with usb to the pc. Phone is not rooted. All stock.
Odd that they are "still there" in some form... Have you tried exporting them to a vcf file and examining it off the device?

Strange. Looks like the contacts here hidden some how and could not be unhid. I exported all contacts to a vcf and luckily, everyone is there. I've since merged them onto Google Contacts so this does not happen again.
Does any one know how to stop Google Contacts from syncing Contacts that I have hidden on contacts.google.com. I don't want those contacts showing up on my phone or in the overall contacts list. So on contacts.google.com I made a label for all of these contacts and then "Hid" them all. Yet, they are still synced to the phone automatically.
