So, I plug my phone on the desktop charger and a few hours later the brightest blue LED I have ever seen shines in my face and actually wakes me up. Is there a mod or patch or whatever to disable the full charge led? Maybe make it dim?
I use blue led for sms and I don't think its bright at all. But there is no way to disable full charge led

Thanks for the quick response. However, I am hoping that someone might be able write a quick mod to fix the issue. Also, it is not too bright unless it is 1AM and it is the only light in the room.
Here is the patch I installed to deal with this issue.

That's what we want to do put ****ing tape. On our phone. Thanks.
I too get woke up by the annoying blue LED.
Slightly less wise-ass comment.........put the phone face down.

Hi there, I recently purchased the "powerskin" for my mytouch 4g. But what is super annoying is that the green charging light stays on ALL day while the powerskin is attached.
Unlike most other power skins for other phones apparently this one does not have the "on/off" button feature... which i really would like. Seems bad/silly to leave the phone charging 24 hours a day?
Anyways. I was curious if there was a way to disable LED while charging but still show my notifications? I'm rooted and running cyanogenmod nightly #93. I tried messing with "LED hack" from the market, but that just disabled the LED all together. I would still like to retain the blinking email/text/ect... abilities.
WTF powerskin?! put a damn ON/OFF button on this thing!
any help is appreciated.

The device doesn't charge if the battery is full. your device will feed off of the powerskin until it is dead, then switch to battery power.
Not that I know of.
... Why not just unplug it?

Thanks for your response Gazian, I messed with a few of your roms! good stuff!
I spose I could just unplug it. I just don't want to keep fiddling with the little micro USB connector. doesnt seem all that durable. I was just hoping there was some little mod or hack that would shut off the charging light. For some reason it bugs me a lot! I keep my phone in silent mode at work and glance at it to see if i have a notification.
Guess i'll have to deal. Thanks for your help.
My Nexus One had a LED in addition to the notification LED. Does this phone only have the notification LED? Does that or anything else light up for anyone when they are charging? It sure doesn't for me .
Edit: Since it may not be crystal clear I am referring to the absence of any LED indicating charging status. Most phones have this; red/amber while charging and green when fully charged. Would be nice to know when the phone is fully charged without having to turn the screen on.
download lightflow from playstore, im using it for custom colours and flash rates for all notifications now, should we have to? no, but seeing as they called it in its your best option.
The gnex by default didn't have a charging led it was only ever used for notifications so presumably the nexus 4 has went the same route. But as mentioned there are apps to allow the led to be used for this purpose

Simple question: should the LED be on when charging the device? I've never seen it on...

The LED (I believe) should keep working as normal, whether on charge or not (as long as the tab is on). I don't believe the LED should stay solid on charge (unless you get 3rd-party software to do so anyway)

THOUGHT about it today, I have never seen my LED on. Did a search and it is a known bug, not known if it is the N10 or Android. But is you install "LED color Tester" from the play store, you can test all the colors and confirm it turns on... so it looks like it may be a software bug. Some people can make it turn on temporarily by rebooting their system while it is charging. I personally never saw my LED before I tried the color tester today. nice pretty colrs <grin> too bad it doesn't work.
Here is a link to one of the Google error reports on it: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40294
I just looked at my tablet while it was sleeping, on charge, and the LED is flashing (got an email). I am on a custom ROM and Kernel though.
Mine never comes on while charging.

I have this red light that only appears on my screen when its on, but when screen's off it disappears, is this the red light of death?

With the red light of dead the phone isn't booting at all, so no. Are you running Semaphore kernel? With semaphore kernel the led turns red when phone gets hot, and it can be disabled using semaphore manager app.

Or perhaps you have a LED notification system and you have a missed call or the like
All I needed to do was switch the kernel, I also have another question to ask and I'll ask it here so I don't have to make another thread.
How come my phone gets hot sometimes while charging?

Its normal for this BEAST with this configuration.. 40 degree is normal. Even my phone gets heated while charging or long hours surfing on net. relax.

The more you use the battery, be it discharging or charging, the hotter it's going to get, some kernels actually have a shutdown mechanism if it gets to something like 80C (176F or so) which personally to me seems insane, but considering that 40C (~104F) is actually normal and cool compared to computers I guess it's not all that surprising.
Since this morning my notification light is stuck in solid green. I did not install any new apps, rebooting did not fix it. I even powered off the phone and the light remained on. Only removing the battery turns the green led off but as soon as I put the battery back the LED turns back on to green, even without starting the phone again.
Is it me or does this sound like a hardware fault...?
I have a I9505 running stock XXUDMH8, TPH csc. I am not rooted or in any way running a modified system. I have no apps dedicated to overriding LED settings installed.
Any ideas on what to try?
Thanks.
Try a factory reset from settings... but u will loose app data...

As the led stays on even with the phone off, do you believe this will help?
I am not rooted so doing a factory reset is a major thing as I have no backups.

I did a factory reset and it didn't fix the problem. My notification LED is still stuck in green. I guess it's off to warranty.... Not happy.

Yes, the LED stays on with the phone powered off. If I remove the battery the LED quickly fades away but starts back on as soon as I put the battery back in place.

Seems like a problem with the hardware. You need to return it back and most probably warranty will cover it... Try also to disable the notification led from the settings...
I have almost exactly the same problem. Today I left the phone charging overnight and in the morning the notification LED was bright blue. It stayed this way after I opened and read all texts and mails, it stayed regardless if the screen was on or off, it even stayed when I turned the phone off(!) and I only managed to put it out by pulling the battery - however it went back on immediately after replacing the battery. I turned off all notifications in settings, made sure I have plenty of free memory and card space etc. etc. The only thing I managed to do was to make it dim blue instead of bright blue after shutting down and booting up again. Now it lurks in the darkness, occasionally flashing, but mostly just glowing in blue.
The only ideas that I have left:
- some app update brought an unsolicited feature, but how to check it w/o wiping up everything? and how the hell does it stay lit after turning off the phone anyway?
- something went bad when charging - but these phones are supposed to have some protections from overcharging, so it shouldn't be a problem if it stays connected at 100%, right? besides, the phone works perfectly normal otherwise.
- I'm using an s-view cover, maybe it has something to do with it? I tried removing it to no avail - but maybe the magnets embedded in the cover contributed over time to the now-observed led malfunction?
@AlexandreT - do you use S-view? from what I understand, your problem also occurred after charging - did the phone stay on charger for long, eg. overnight? maybe you managed to solve the problem since?

I don't use S-view. The problem occurred after charging overnight. It was solved by replacing the whole motherboard under warranty.
Sorry for the late answer.
Just use led xposed modules to switch it off
