Application not installed error (root explorer)

I am trying to install APK's that I deleted. I moved the copied APK's from the SD card to the system/App file and tried to install through root explorer but I keep getting error (application not installed)? I have reset permissions and tried again but same error, any help?
For future reference?
If u want to change for example the camera app /apk you have to place the new apk where the old one was instead of installing ...if thats your problem ^^

System APK's or APK's in use (loaded at startup) cannot be installed, you would have to copy and paste, or push the file to the location which would overwrite the old one if the file name is the same.

Build.prop

Hi, I downloaded and install optimize from new provision optimize tool (automatically adding tweeks ) but it screwed my 2g and 3g connection so here's the question. I want to delete modified build.prop and restore the backedup one (the apply did it before optimization). I'm noob in this, so can I just delete the modified one and rename the original back up? Is it OK? Thanks
Swyped from my ZTE Blade
Yes u can. Just delete build.prop and rename ur backup which is usually build.prop.bak to build.prop.

OK I tried to delete it but it said It can't be deleted. Tried renaming but action cannot be done ... I'm using es file explorer.
Oh and permissions for it are rw-r-r
Swyped from my ZTE Blade
Use root explorer. Mount R/W.

if u r using es go to setting and allow root access and superuser access or its something like that delete the modified build.prop first and then remove the .bak from the backuped one and reboot.
or simply use root explorer as kartik said
Ok ive done it in different way. I reinstalled the tool that screwed it and remove the JiT compiler option from it and installed the optimization again and reboot. Working ok now. Thnx for help guys

[Q] Help installing clockworkmod (where is /.cust_backup ?)

OK, I have a U8800 (normal, not pro), and have installed the official android 2.3.5.
I have also rooted it (don't know how anymore, I followed the directions in on of the forums).
I would like to try a custom ROM with a new android version (hoping to increase battery life, and have troubles with some apps at the moment anyway). I was thinking about Aurora ICS 4.0.4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492957)
However, I don't understand how I can install ClockWorkMod (http://forum.xda-develpers.com/showthread.php?t=1377390).
Specifically, how to find/mount the /.cust_backup
I have ES File Explorer, and made my root visible (so /)
However, there is no subdirectory that starts with a '.'. So I cannot find /.cust_backup
There is a /cust , but does't seem to be it.
Can anyone give me a hint?
Thx,
T
You have to set Es File Explorer to show hidden files. In android, every file/folder whose name starts with a "." is considered an hidden file, that's why it's not showing it.
Root explorer works better in my opinion but its a paid app.

Search root eplorer using 4shared. Install and find cust backup. Easy bro

Ya Root explorer it will work just fine.

[Q] ES file explorer or TitaniumBackup can not delete system apps

Hello,
i9500, Stock MJ8, rooted
I just updated to 4.3 MJ8 and want to get rid of some additional system apps.
I run into 2 problems:
1) If I use ES file explorer (Root enabled), I can access the files, but the delete operation fails because "read-only file system", although I can see that read and write is enabled for root. Permissions for the folder are "rwx r-x r-x", the file permissions are "rw- r-- r--". Actually, it shows me that I have read and write permissions on both folder and file but I have no idea how to change them, if necessary.
2) Instead, if I want to delete those system apps with Titanium Backup Pro, I (or better TitaniumBackup) simply does not find them. One example is the system app "InteractiveTutorial.apk". If i enable all filter criteria, TB just does not display, although I can see that it is in the /system/app- folder. This is valid for many other system apps. A support question to TB was not answered.
I checked the search within XDA, but I either get 2900 results or none. TB-website and EStrongs website also didnt help me.
Does anybody of you have a helping hand for me, please?
Kind regards
Your going to need root explorer for that

I know. But root explorer is better and easier when it comes to deleting system apps. I don't think u can delete system apps from es file explorer.

Used another explorer and succeeded. Strange thing: It worked with the old version of ES file explorer but not with the newer 3.x.
Thanks for your help, guys.

Can any rom preinstall a file manager app?

Can any rom preinstall a file manager app? Some time i just flash the rom without gapps. No file manager app to open my sd card and inner sd card. So i have to flash gapps , download a file manager app(es file manager app,for example), sometime without network, I can not download the app.

1. Wrong section for such a generic question.
2. I believe that CyanogenMod comes with a file explorer (i could be mistaken however as I have not followed CM in quite some time)

You could use an .apk of a file explorer (ES file explorer, ASTRO...) in your SD card, it would solve the problem.
You can also do the same with Flashify app, which allow you to install boot images (boot.img that you can find at the root of your .zip archive) from your android !
