I finally just got an update for the ookla speedtest.net app from the market! The interface is all new! Yay!
going to check this out
I didn't see anything new to the app other than a cosmetic change. Meh.
Nothing looks much different since i last used it 2 weeks ago lol.. either way, I'm sure this isn't G2 specific, any reason why it wasn't posted in the apps/games forum lol ?
I just didn't think to post there.

You do know that the same company made both speedtest apps for iphone and android...

I think the ui revamp has made the app a bit better imo. Definite improvement.

we may see it soon,
YEEEEEEEEE can't wait!!
i love that guy from pocketnow.com always brings good stuff to my laptop lol
I can't wait to see what this does as far as performance inhancements. When the nexus went from 2.1 to 2.2 there was such a big difference with how the phone was behind the scenes, generally viewed in the quandrant scores.

I just felt like complaining a little and wanted to know if anyone else is annoyed with the new version of the market. The ui took a little getting use to, but my biggest complaint is how screwed up the reviews of apps are. The most recent are not at the top like they use to be. Now its a mix of anything from a week to a year old. We can't make a decision about an app based on reviews of versions that are outdated. Sorry, just had to vent.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Nope I love it, it's the bees knees.. :-*

I hate the fact that it will show an update is available for the app however, unless you have multiple and can therefore click "update all", you have to wait at least an hour or two to select update.
Indeed. The reviews are the only thing I'm not liking. It doesn't even make sense. I like checking the mentions when an app gets an update and this totally kills it. There is no structure / reason to it.

Same here...goooooo CM7.
CM7 here too ... new Market got bumped over a couple days ago. I love the new look, but the ass backward reviews are ridiculous and rage inducing.

I hate the fact text and background color is so similar. Also stars are gray on a light gray background, makes it look like theyre missing. Make em gold like they use to be.
Not impressed too much by it.
They must've fixed the reviews, now I see the most recent ones first and in order
We're comin from a pure power source.
It's fine; I have no issues with the new market and like the look better than the old market. Other than that, it is the venue through which I get apps on my phone so in that respect it has not changed for me.

Im definitely happy with it now. Now they need to add a music section, that would be sweeter.

I thought this was an OTA update, do we need to load the .apk file to get the update, or is pushed OTA
You don't need to be rooted. Just put it on your SD card and use a file manager to install it.

I guess my post should have been clarified, the only way to get the update is to load the .apk file. There is no OTA push for this new market

So it is, the new Sense UI 4.0 has apparently been leaked to a select few, right before the HTC Ville release next month I guess, and for all you Sense fans, here's where you can let your imagination run wild.
Basically, just write what you think the 4.0 will bring to our phones, will it be an improvement or not and in what way.
(Sense 4A is a light version of sense, no 3D effects and plenty of other small things missing from the full Sense.)
Before you get your hopes up too high, read this first:
http://pocketnow.com/android/htc-sense-40-first-impressions
Here are the reviews of the Sense 4 devices:
One V: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bV8FKMEXXQ

Enjoy!
I particularly like the the 'guest mode' feature!

Yeah I guess that is one of the major implementations compared to previous versions. Remember, that's just a quick look at it and once released it's bound to have a ton of new functions. I personally like the dropbox integration and the new email client.

have a great day
Would be great if vertical scrolling in app drawer is included as well... having 200+ apps and having to scroll page by page is really troublesome
See i differ there i like the ics scroll, plus you fit more on

I actually like ICS scroll system. The vertical one seemed too cluttered to me, idk why.
We might get a bit more info this upcoming week so stick around folks.
the 50GB from dropbox will be granted to anyone logging into his account on a device with sense 4?(like the DHD with sense 4 when there will be a normal ROM with it)

I'm not sure how that will go with custom ROMs of Sense 4, but I'm pretty sure devs will make it possible so yeah, highly likely that everyone will have access to it.

I unwillingly had to give up my nexus s 4g for my current g2. Thought it would be crap compared to the ns4g. So far my performance at 1.5ghz has been better and I'm actually pretty content. Now to the good stuff..
What's up with ice cream sammich on this thing? I literally feel like I started reading a book halfway through and don't know where to go. Someone fill me in please as I got used to ics and miss it terribly lol

Did your phone come stock with Gingerbread? If so go Here to get back to Froyo, then Here I'm assuming the Gingerbread thread would have you put on CWM of course.
If your phone did not come with the Gingerbread update go Here then back to the 2nd link above.
Thanks dude! Yea I'm fully rooted running cm7 nightly but I'm flashing this right naoh!!

There's no official ICS for the G2/DZ, so right now there are some pre-alpha/alpha quality builds available in the dev forum. We may well never get an official ICS, but our sister phones, the Desire HD and Desire S will be, and there is enough commonality in chipsets to be pretty sure we'll get decent drivers out of those (to vastly improve the current early builds).

First thing, welcome to G2. This is one of the best communities I've seen and the development is plenty!
Second, 1.8!? Hasn't that burned a hole in your pocket? I've been running Andro Alpha 12 at 1.024 and running great.

The Merge 4.0 is a sense 3 and aosp hybrid. It has all the normal sense things plus aosp dialer, contacts, gallery, and email. This was a team nocturnal project but they have moved on and TNN has taken over the project. I have plans on a couple more sense 3 roms but they are still in the future.

The masses seem to want ICS and JB more than Sense, since this did come with Sense to begin with and never upgraded past 4.37(1.0).I myself am a Sense fan, since all the rest of the phones seems to upgrade to at least ICS,except ours, but that being said there is a new OS coming out by Nov of this year, which is Key Lime Pie,but who knows how long this will take to get a source code for that, then you have Firefox OS,which i know a guy thats working on getting us a code for our phone,so we can start on one for the OG,but i have a Sense 2.1 and 3.0 RUU,ill see what i can do with it and see if Aamikam has a few extra minutes to help me with combining them and his rom control.
