I unwillingly had to give up my nexus s 4g for my current g2. Thought it would be crap compared to the ns4g. So far my performance at 1.5ghz has been better and I'm actually pretty content. Now to the good stuff..
What's up with ice cream sammich on this thing? I literally feel like I started reading a book halfway through and don't know where to go. Someone fill me in please as I got used to ics and miss it terribly lol

Did your phone come stock with Gingerbread? If so go Here to get back to Froyo, then Here I'm assuming the Gingerbread thread would have you put on CWM of course.
If your phone did not come with the Gingerbread update go Here then back to the 2nd link above.
Thanks dude! Yea I'm fully rooted running cm7 nightly but I'm flashing this right naoh!!

There's no official ICS for the G2/DZ, so right now there are some pre-alpha/alpha quality builds available in the dev forum. We may well never get an official ICS, but our sister phones, the Desire HD and Desire S will be, and there is enough commonality in chipsets to be pretty sure we'll get decent drivers out of those (to vastly improve the current early builds).

With any luck we will follow suit, but don't think it will happen anytime soon. From what I understand, we still need to have the latest kernal source to get it working correctly. The desire port still has quite a bit wrong with it....but we all can hope...
It will come sooner or later. Don't expect much from it though. Faux said it would be pretty damn bastardised. Different cameras... different everything.

The thunderbolt has one going too...
well the HD2 has the most functional version as of yet...

I finally found a cupcake 1.5 SDK And actually, it boots. I'm shocked.
Its slow as fu**. The launcher is so old (if anyone knew of the gray launcher that you have to slide up (it was ditched in 2.1))
Even though, its old, I'm still going to release it. Its a look in the past and play around. I used jts GPS fix kernel and yea, GPS does not work (well its on 1.5 so nothing works anyway, remember the G1)
Ill release it soon. Its fun, slow, market is so old (black and white old) and won't update to the newest market.
I know its not necessary, but I wanted to port all versions of android to the fascinate. Who needs new? Why not flash back in time 2 years ago, cupcake was the biggest hit and phones like the moment (that had a arm v6 processor) were treated like dual core phones we have today. The G1 Also was high end back then with its
"Fastest processor (456MHz) in a mobile phone"
-Engadget
Or the moment had the
"Fastest phone ever" -Sprints Slogan.

I keep seeing all these teenage girls with Droids now and they're like, "what's the bfd? iphone and android have like, the same apps?" I just wish all these new adopters could see this version of Android and the app selection. They'd really appreciate how far the platform has come. I'm still blown away by gingerbread and i had crazy high expectations for ICS and it still blew me away. I will probably flash this just for nostalgia's sake. Thanks enyo!

Yes, Moto has announced that we will.
More likely this is the calm before the storm. Everybody sits and waits for ICS to drop.
I noticed that the Sensation now has a leaked alpha HTC ICS ROM with Sense. I know that other ROMs have in the past been ported between HTC devices. Is there any chance the Sensation ROM could get ported over?
Marseillesw was trying last I heard. If he is making progress, its going to be tough. There are no ICS Sense kernels for our device, and according to TDJ, "Good luck. Sense kernels are a b****."

HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

Given that they'll eventually bring the Desire S and Desire HD to ICS... at that point you'd probably be able to make a fully functional ICS port. I may be wrong but doesn't one of those phones even have the exact same camera hardware as Glacier? That'd provide us with a driver.
Mind you I have already moved on to GNex land
Seems cool. But looks like all of the good MT4G devs are gone now since I had the phone couple months ago.

I've been following the ics project since after my birthday (11/27/11) and a lot has changed but when it comes to (FFC) it came to me that its not gonna work till maybe after the summer or never, whenever HTC gives out the code bit what's your opinion about the ics for the EVO 4G?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
This doesnt belong in the Android Development section, belongs in GENERAL.
My bad I thought it was general at first. The system will automaticly do it for me as usual.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
ummm my opinion on it is that if they dont want to they shouldnt. It will give us an awesome rom but more importantly that means our wonderful devs are learning stuff. this means that in the future they can use these experiences to help them in work or in other aspects of there personal lifes. so dev on guys you are doing great
Why in the world should they stop working on ICS? It makes little sense.
Deck and Kang and others are making great ICS ROMs for lots of phones, not just the EVO4G.
htc will release the code.. because it is an open source project. when is the question, not if.
ics will come..

The OS code is open source. The device drivers are not last I knew. So no, HTC does not have to release driver code.
HTC may release the FFC code for our OG's as soon as they sell enough of their newer devices.
They seem to be dragging their feet in releasing the official ICS updates for the Evo 3D and the Evo Design when they said they would, but they're holding it back, why? Cuz they want to sell enough of the One series models before they officially update the older HTC models that are scheduled to be updated with ICS.
Its kinda crappy of HTC to do that, but hey, they're a "for-profit" business.
But in answer to your question, heck no they shouldn't stop developing ICS for our OG Evo's! This sh*t is fun as hell.
From AOKP b31 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
what is the point of this thread? why is that a question? sorry no disrespect.
Yeah, I don't get why a thread was started for this. But why should devs abandon ICS on Evo? Because they can't get FFC to work!? I've been on ICS since the minute they got camera working (around Xmas), and could NEVER imagine going back to GB or Froyo (well, ...maybe froyo).
Keep up the awesome work, all who are working on ICS for Evo.

The evo is EOL(end of life) HTC doesn't have to support it any longer meaning they won't release any source for it as they are not working on ICS for the device. Hardware mfgs may release source for the same hardware in other devices, like they did with the adreno or the devs may code their own drivers. But don't expect HTC to do a damn thing for the evo, period.

All I'm saying we have a lot of people love the ics Rom but some people hate it cause no 4G. But let me tell one thing about the ics it came a lot since then and like some people who are poor or they don't make a lot of money, its hard to keep up with ics roms when the last two months the biggest change was 4.0.4 which is like starting all over again. Don't get me wrong with the debate about their work, its freaking amazing, but the biggest break through will be the ffc. Closest to that is from a horse ride to a plane ride experience
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I don't think that they should stop working on the ICS ROM's. I went from Sense to Ice Cream Sense to ICS and having ICS on my phone is like having a brand new phone. We don't have 4G in our area, and the front facing camera I hardly used. I am using gummyWorms ICS right now and so far had no major problems with it. There are minor glitches sometimes but, that is no big deal. I hope that the ICS developers can get everything working and I know that it will take time to do so. I appreciate all of their hard work in bringing us some ICS goodness to our phones.
