What baseband are you running?
31800 - when it does connect mlthe signal goes up, but once connected drops down.

I've had good experiences on 315 and 345, steve reccomends the 315.
But I did have omething similar to this happen.
Make sure you put in the network password properly…

This morning i found that my 3G connection was gone. It wasn't my operator, because when I restarted the SGS I got back connection.
Anyone else experienced the same?

If I turn off APN to use exclusively Wifi connection then I need to reboot the phone to return back to 3G connection.
Has anyone noticed if there wireless disconnects a lot? Then you have to manually turn back on and off to get it working again. Shouldn't the wireless automatically detect a network and connect. Some thing happpens with 3g. Sometimes i Have to manually do the same for3g.

Yeah kine does thesame with 2.1 after the sleeps and it wakes wifi doesnt wake, and when i turn it off (wifi) hangs on getting turned off... so i have to power off the phone and power it back on.

Same here, I had the issue with the iphone. I deduced it was an issue with the router, not letting the phone back on. Although now it seems to be when the mrs uses my old iphone on wifi she steals my ip, so I can't get back on as the steak attempts to connect with the same ip.
I guess the solution is static ip's at home
Could it be something similar for you guys?

My wifi does the same thing under 1.6 and using a static IP
Same thing here. Thought it was because beta of 2.1, but since someone mentioned it was also present in 1.6 I think we need a proper solution for this. I don't mind if the wifi goes into standby, but I want it to work within 5 or 10 seconds after it comes out of standby. Now you have to disable it and enable it again.

Has anyone having this problem found a solution?
set wifi power policy to "never"
set gsm mode to "auto"

I use wifi lock on my streak 1.6 and that still does not solve the problem. I would like to know if anyone has figured this out. I hate to always have to set to wireless on and off.
aha... so i'm not alone..
confirmed the issue with build 6267 (donut), disconnecting issue wifi <-> 3g or 2g <-> 3g. Most of the time the remedy should turn off completely then back on.
hmm... is the new build of eclair or froyo using different (radio) baseband? i guess the baseband version is the culprit...
for my streak, this is an issue with the router. the wifi behaves well with my old g-router but having trouble re-connecting when i started to use a new n-router.
is anyone having wifi issues where games disconnect and downloads have to be restarted alot?
Its neva happened to me using wifi, are you using other things at the same time? PS3? PC? I know my xbox tends to disconnect if im downloading somthing on the pc

Having the same issue
I don't have to be downloading anything, the phone could just be sitting there and the WIFI disconnects even with a app like SKYPE running in the back ground. My current internet is 20 meg down with 4 meg up and of all the devices this is the only one that disconnects or has any kind of connection issues.
Happens about 10 times a day. So annoying

Yes, I get this with my PLAY.
No other devices have this problem in my house. Stable connection that is on all the time.
Really annoying in Rainbow 6, particulary since it doesn't seem to save your stats with you disconnect because of a Wi-Fi droput.
Also sometimes have problems when it comes out of sleep mode, have to turn off wifi, then on again on the PLAY.
Very annoying.
Could it be to do with the security settings on your routers? Mines set to WPA2 PSK with a 13 character password and its never dropped connection. Or could it be the make of your routers? Mines a Netgear router. If a few people post there setup maybe we can find a similarity between them and find out if it's the phone, router, setup or all of them that's the problem.

The distance you are to the router makes a big difference. I think the wifi receiver on the play is weaker then other devices.

Yes. I havent updated yet, I'm hoping that 2.3.3 will fix it.
It says I'm connected yet stops working. I have to turn off the wi-fi then turn it back on to get it working again.

I have the same security on mine. The router is wireless n from my provider. It ie a router modem in one.
I did back when I was on 2.3.2. It was so annoying. I could have 2 computers, an iPad, and my Play connected to the same router and only the Play would disconnect continually.
adb shove iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread
I have the same problem with 2.3.3 the wifi just keep disconnecting is really annoying. Does any one know if this is a bug or a real design or hardware problem that wont be fixed wit updates?
It's wifi range isn't as far reached as other devices.

Hello everyone,
Recently I upgraded to the 3.1OS and after that I have been having some problems connecting to wifi networks.
I was at my parents house this weekend for fathers day and tried to connect to the network. Every time I connected it would bring the whole network down. On my tablet it would connect, then the signal would go "out of range" and when I looked at my phone I noticed it was back on 3g. After several attempts I determined it was my tablet that brought down the network.
I had been previously been able to connect using the 3.0 OS.
The network provider is Fios.
My tablet is unrooted
Any suggestions or ideas?
Hi, I am experiencing the same problem with 3.0.1 the wifi connection was working just fine. After I upgraded to 3.1 I am loosing signal, the strenght of the signal is much much lower as it used to be.
What I read in 3.1 they downgraded the wifi driver, maybe this is the reason.
T.
Is it possible to check any logs on your router (if it supports it) and see what exactly happened..
It is not about the router, my PC or my Desire get full strength signal. Even with EEE pad before update to 3.1 I had no wifi drops.
So form my point of view the driver is the issue.
There was some mention of people having issues with the non-NA supported channels like 13 and 14. Are you guys using these?
workaround
While not an answer to your specific problem, you could use the wifi on you phone and then tether your Transformer to it...that way you wouldnt be using up the 3G from your phone , still using the wifi technically..
Just an idea to get around your problem...
Was using channel 11, then I found out a lot of other routers are using 11 also.
So i switched to 9. Helped a little bit, but still not optimal.
Let`s see how it evolves. :-D

Hi everyone, my dad has a Xoom on ics (official) 4.0.3 and it keeps dropping wifi connection. I tried static IP, dmz, and no difference. Wifi is working fine on my laptop, Motorola defy, HTC espresso, BB bold, etc. Any ideas? Router is a netgeat n600 wndr3700. Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue. I was using Skype for a video call and my wifi would drop every 15 minutes (or so). My phone would still be connected as well as my laptop. I noticed on my Xoom the wifi would completely drop a connection and then reconnect within 60 seconds. I've noticed at other times it seems to happen around once a day. I'm using a Linksys 600N dual band router but my Xoom is connected to the G band and not the N band. Hope we can find something that might fix this.

yeah i have the same issue when trying to stream anything from bbc iplayer. and im sure it isnt my isp because i am on a 50mb package.
I noticed this issue once my second xoom that arrived today registered to my network. I thought there was a conflict of some sort, so i just assigned each xoom their own individual IP via my routers Address Reservation feature. The problem is still there, but less often. Went from losing connection every few minutes, to every few hours or so.
Alright I'll try that

This is strange. Last night I went over to a friend's house and brought my Xoom along. While there I tried to go online with no success, although the lap top and my phone picked up the router signal. On the other hand my Xoom showed no wifi signal and wouldn't even scan for one. Came home the next morning and all is good with the Xoom's wifi scan and connections. There are times when my Xoom will not find a wifi signal right away but will find one later. I'm on nightly #81.
This is what I did to fix this, yrmv:
On my router I changed it from "mixed a/b/g/n" to "n only" and I have had a steady connection on both xooms for the past two days.

Well i have some devices on the network that don't support N. This sucks.......

The WNDR3700 is a piece of crap. I had the exact same router and it caused me all kind of trouble.
I solved my problems by installing openwrt on it. Every device on my home worked perfectly instantly.
