So it's finally out. What do you guys think? Is this the end of Appbrain? I loved appbrain cause I can browse the apps on the website and then just click install from there and it will automatically install on the phone. Now this can do it too!
The biggest upside to this? You can install (after you pay) "in-app" purchase app from the website. e.g. you can install the NBA League Pass from the website directly. Any other features I missed?
This is from Google themselves, not me.

Cool. I like it.
I never really got into appbrain, because it still involved that extra step of opening the application itself.. and blah.. I think, I can't even remember. It just seemed tedious at the time to go onto the computer when it was quicker on my phone.
Then when Google does it, I'm all over it. I have been installing random applications just to install them. Why is this so awesome?!
I played with it for a while now and everything seems to be working well. I guess I can save some space by uninstalling appbrain and use this instead.
sweet jesus!
I'm like'n it...good stuff!
The automatic OTA install is working to my N1 and my Galaxy Tab now, it wasn't earlier this morning.
Works well!
With this new website comes another big change that will happen in the 3rd quarter of this year: NO MORE "LITE" version apps.

That's actually a good thing. You download the "free" application, and then if you decide to unlock it you buy the key from within the app rather than a separate unlocker application, or having the market cluttered with 2 separate versions.
Sounds like a plan!
The in-app purchasing as a general concept I'm not a massive fan off as it has the potential to lead to nickle & diming, primarily for games, but if used responsibly it should be good.
Wow, about time. Glad to see it's finally here.
now all they need to do is let you backup your app data. I dont want to lose my angry birds scores everytime i switch roms and forget to back it up with titamium backup
Well, I don't suppose there's a way for Market Enabler to work on the website?
It lists paid apps from all over the world, but it knows your phone's carrier and will prevent installs if your country does not support it..
I guess it's back to Market Enabler on the phone.
Anyone else having trouble actually buying apps from the website? Installing free apps works like a charm, but trying to purchase and install paid apps doesn't work. I press continue and _nothing_ happens.
running CM7 nightlies and the OTA installs are not working...
According to the website, you need to be logged into GTalk, only my GTalk won't log in. GTalk also appears to be missing from the market, so the problem may be on their end...

Doesn't work for me, it's been years and Android Market still doesn't support Google Apps accounts for Checkout. Although I can login, no devices are listed under "my devices" on market.android.com
I'm running CM7 Nightlies as well, I'm a few behind though, and I'm always logged into GTalk and the OTA's are not working for me either.
It's not working here on MM v.20. I've tried installing several apps but nothing happens on the phone end, the GTalk solution they give also doesn't help. Weird thing is they all show up on my app list as completed when none of them have actually installed.

I'm having the same issue. I'm running CM6.1 kangorama's version and the install says it has worked on the website, but nothing changes on the phone itself.
I'm wondering if it has to do with it being a rooted device without a stock rom?

I'm betting that someone is going to have to create a Web App Store Enabler or something along those lines for this to work on rooted phones or phones without stock ROM's.
Both the stock browser as well as Dolphin HD have been crashing on me since the recent adobe 10.2 update. Stock 6 times last night, made me purchase Dolphin from a few recommendations. Then Dolphin started crashing, a total of 3 times before I gave up and went to my pc.
This morning both have crashed a few times already.
Anyone else experiencing this? Recommendations?
when flash was installing it probably farqued something up. Uninstall/reinstall it like any other app in the market.

That was one of the first things I did this morning. Luckily both browsers have only crashed once or twice today.
May have to be something to live with until the next update or the next android os.
Is there a way to get missing apps to show up in the Android Market? I just did a search for Tumblr/Flickr/Gameloft and their main apps don't show up in the market. Any ways around it or possibly tricking the market into thinking I have a valid device to use these apps?
there are so many threads about this - i can't count them
basically the kf is for the android marked an unsupported device
therefor some apps are missing - you have to sideload them or google for a site where the apk is available
wouldn't editing the build.prop file to include a different device fingerprint from say, a similar high end tablet work?
I did something similar a while back with my droid 1 - spoofed a high phone's build.prop fingerprint, got on the market and got the app I wanted, then changed the fingerprint back.
it should be noted that I did this twice, and on one occasion when I changed the fingerprint back the second app refused to load because it checked device compatibility at startup... but if your app doesnt do that, then you should be home free.
(I'm new to the KF and still getting caught up on the forums, so apologies if this has already been debunked as unfeasible on the KF)
some guys have tried that (i also) - you get troubles with all the amazon apps, because it's no longer a kindle fire - in this case you can go to cm7 also - there it's the same
Sorry for the re-posting the question I guess I didn't see it, but I was thinking about changing the Build.Prop just wasn't sure if any one else had tried it yet. So even with CM7, we will still have a problem?
you don't have a problem - but you don't have a kindle - with cm7 it's like any other android tablet
Curious about this too... Sideloading is a pita.
I remember back in the old samsung moment days we had the same problem but it went away with the first of the custom roms. I already tried to modify the build.prop file with samsung galaxy device info and it didn't work. Hopefully someone will find the magic piece of code...
If you've noticed, the unlisted apps just so happen to be the ones that aren't compatible with your device. Use the browser based store and you'll see.

If you've noticed, almost every app people sideload works on the kindle. The only thing I've tried to install that didn't was launcher pro and I knew that wouldn't work before I tried it. I was just hoping...
I'd like to be the one that decides what works and what doesn't...
as i said - the kf is a unsupported device for the android market
it is great that it is now displayed as kindle fire - that was not in the beginning
google is shurely not interested to support the amazon device in any way because amazon built its own market
so every app that checks the device is not available, regardless if the app would be working or not
there are some apps on the market where the free version is not shown up but the paid version is

It's not as simple as that. For example Skype is available on the Market place, but without a camera or mic it's about as much use as errr a helicopter ejector seat.
However none of the Google suite are available, or even twitter! These are core apps and work just fine on the Kindle!
On the other hand, I've had to download Google Maps, Twitter etc. which all work fine on the KF, but are not in the market.
I don't mind doing that, but it seems that since they don't show up in your market application list, they won't get updated or show needing update. Frankly I'm not sure how I would update to the newer version without seeing the update on my Samsung Galaxy S2, and then searching for and installing the apk file manually.
Ive had issues with unlisted apps mainly, I do get the odd one that.works, but I prefer ones that work for certain flawlessly.

are you guys running CM7 or the KF firmware? some of the apps you guys are talking about(twitter) show up just fine in CM7, but coincidentally, some apps still don't show up or are listed as incompatible(NBA Gametime 2011-2012 for example), which work fine if you're able to get an apk and sideload them
I am on CM7 and there are quite a few games, primarily Gameloft games, that will not play once sideloaded even though they played fine on the stock ROM. Gameloft Customer Support has said this was an issue that was being addressed in future updates, so we will see.
To clarify: Some of the apks are games I had loaded on the original Amazon ROM and saved to a backup. Some are specific to kindle (ie title includes Kindle Fire version) and fail to even so much as start without FCing. Others state that the device is not compatible.
do this, and all of your wishes will come true:

I have uninstalled Amazon Appstore from my rooted NST. Didn't use it much and kept puting up errors.
Now my Opera browser won't run. I get the message that I need to rinstll the Opera Appstore and sign in to Amazon.
Tried to reinstall the Apk form amazon and get parsing error.
My other internet apps work fine.
Does Opera have a deal with Amazon? I installed the Opera browser from google.
How do I fix this? What is going on?
Ugh, markets, whether "Google Play" or "Amazon Market".
Even the free apps from Amazon Market requires you to have continued registration.
Opera Mobile is free but coming through Amazon Market it has claws in it.
You'll need to uninstall and download directly from opera, then re-install with adb. Make sure you get the correct version as the latest may not work with the nook touch version of android.

I generally despise the Amazon app store, but I caught a few free apps there that I didn't want to pay for on Google. Had 'em all on my Note 4, but absolutely nothing from Amazon will install on the V20.
I've cleared cache/data, restarted, I don't have any Amazon pre-installed bloat disabled, I'm on Verizon so I'm not rooted or anything, I switched to the stock launcher... I haven't done a factory reset, but I've tried everything short of that I could think of and nothing is working... It'll download apps but stay stuck at "Installing..." forever.
I called Amazon customer service and they were worthless, they had me try everything I'd already tried then washed their hands of me and told me to contact LG...
Anybody else seen this problem or know of a fix?

More than likely it's a compatibility issue w/Android 7.0+>,hard to say for sure, not knowing which exact apps you're trying to install.
Typically,Amazon versions of apps are slow to be updated as it is,so,you have a couple of things to look at.
My amazon underground app took a few tries. Pretty sure at one point it was struck on installing and I just backed out of it and it was finished even though it acted like it wasn't.
I have Amazon underground (shopping app) word twist (game) and Amazon music but that's all from Amazon I think.
It's not that the apps themselves won't work, it's that Amazon won't actually install them. In particular I was trying to install Plex, but I've tried a good dozen or so. General stuff, like Yahoo mail and Spotify - everything hangs at installing.
I think something must be hosed with my Amazon app, I just don't know what...

I just installed PLEX w/no issues,T-Mobile version (H918).
Do you have the UNKNOWN SOURCES enabled in Settings > Security?
I'd check the app permissions, make sure they're enabled.
Also clear the store app cache/force stop & try again.
If that fails, delete all the store app data,sign-in anew & try yet again.
If none of that works, perhaps try an older version of the Amazon Appstore .apk:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/amazon-mobile-llc/appstore/
Huh, I'll be... I don't know what happened with this, but I managed to get Plex installed just now...
I was poking around in my file manager and the Android/data/com.amazon.mShop.android folder had an apk in it, "update-154-1479665130487.apk" - turns out that was Plex. It wouldn't install from there because of a media scan. I moved it to my SD card and it installed straight away.
So yay, resolved-ish. Thanks for your input everybody!
I couldn't get video to download. Same issue stuck on installing. Finally just downloaded an apk and called it good
It took two tries to download Amazon video. It got stuck at the download part after I went through all those steps Google make you go through to keep people from using Amazon apps. But worth the effort since you can download certain movies and series with your Prime membership. Saved me on a United flight that surprised many by charging just to watch TV!! I don't think one person paid for it. I also have a YouTube Red subscription but hadn't gotten around to reloading all the content onto my new 256 GB Samsung Plus sd card.
