I will paypal 50$ for who help me to solve this problem!

Call your provider and ask for them to push the network settings. They'll have you check the APN settings and likely do a battery pull.
I don't know exactly what it is that they do, but it's some sort of re-provisioning by the sound of it. I've had to call in and have this done and it's worked like a charm. It's worth a shot.

seems like signal problem try again with your apn and make sure its right. and use "default" instead "Default" sometimes some keyboards capitalize the first letter.
re check APN its right i guess its the problem.
did you freeze any service? or do something weird??? try a backup with thenfar recovery and flash again SBF and check if works, maybe you delete or freeze a service, after that if still not working try replace SIM card to see if this solve the problem.

Try these apn settings:
apn: pps
> username: annyway
> password: online
> *
> server = not set
> proxy = 176.0.0.65
> port = 8080
> mmsc = 176.0.0.21
> mms proxy = not set
> mcc = 419
> mnc = 02
> authentication type = not set
> apn type = default

Good luck. Don't worry about the reward though, I just hope this works because I always have a third party device and know how much of a nuisance this can be!

They don't push the APN but they can usually reset the network connection from their end. It's industry jargon my old provider had used. Not sure what it alludes to but it definitely helps.
Sorry I don't have the appropriate term.

Did you go to "Data Manager"
then choose "Data Delivery"
make sure "Data Roaming" is turned on.
Without it, my Atrix will not connect to the internet either.
This is the solution, I think.

I realize you are half-way around the world from me, but I thought I would share with you what I am experiencing right now in northern Michigan.
I got my Atrix about 2 weeks ago and had absolutely no problems with it until last Friday, when I suddenly would get only Edge connectivity. My HSPA+ was gone. This lasted all Friday night. I had placed Gingerblur on my phone at roughly the same time this began to happen, so I thought this might be the issue. But after talking to some folks on he, I was informed that Gingerblur didn't change the radios. So, I flashed back to SBF 1.2.6 and reloaded my Atrix to 1.5.7, but I still got only Edge service.
On Saturday, I did see HSPA+ for a while, but speeds were slooooow. My buddy has a iPhone 3GS and an iPad 3G. Both of those were connecting at 3G and were pulling good speeds. My phone would only get Edge. (BTW, where I am at, we have only 3G, not officially HSPA+).
Yesterday, I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T tech support and got no-where, so I drove the 20-miles to my AT&T store. When I got there, I found that the in-store Atrix as well as the Inspire 4G were both only connecting at Edge service. So, the issue is not my phone, it is something going on with AT&T in my area.
I was back at the AT&T store today and they have no information to help me, but are talking to engineering to see what is going on. The 4G in-store phones again showed only an Edge connection when I was there today. All of the 3G phones were working great.
I don't know if this is related to your issue, but I thought it was similar enough to say something.

It is really annoying problem tha you are having, mine is more! because there is no net at all!
thanks for sharing your problems with us

I could really use that $100 :/ when you bought the phone did you activate it for the first time in the USA? In the IRC chat, a guy named shadowfalx has the exact same problem and the only difference between his phone running on the softbank JP network (with broken data) and mine running on Vodafone Australia (with working H+) is that he activated his phone for the first time in the USA with an AT&T SIM card, while I used a vodafone SIM in Austraila. I'm not sure about the technics but he thinks it has something to do with the SID being screwed over. I would get in contact with the person/place that sold you the phone and ask for a replacement and when/if you do get a replacement, ask specifically for it not to be turned on ever before, as you will have to turn it on for the first time with your ZAIN KW SIM card inserted.
Hope this helps, shadowfalx will have his replacement in a few days, we'll know for sure if thats the problem when he gets his new one and activates it in Japan not in the US
- DarkRyoushii

Out of curiosity, have you tried another SIM?

I fired off an email to a buddy in KW and had him compare his setting to the settings listed on their website. The only difference was
APN Type = default,spul
where you listed
APN Type= default
He is using a Nexus one not an Atrix but it is an Android.

try this do a factory reset to make sure all your setting are correct and the previous owner didnt uninstall something he shouldnt have, heres how. With the phone off, hold the Volume Down button while pressing Power. A Fastboot screen should appear. Press Volume Down to navigate to the Android Recovery selection. Press Volume Up. A yellow triangle and Android logo will appear. Tap the bottom-right corner of the screen until a menu appears. Tap wipe data/factory reset then tap OK. Tap Yes then OK. it will take a minute or so for the factory reset then hit ok when done. then during the motoblur sign in press settings button and then select APN to enter a new one. try these and good luck

the apn type should be: default, dun, agps, tether, fota, supl. After putting the apn, you actually need to CLICK it to enable it (a dot will appear inside the circle).
You wouldn't believe how much time i wasted before figuring this out

just got data T8282...cant connect on ATT!

cant anyone help me out with this? i went through the AT&T fuze tutorial online yet it still cant connect.
i dont think its because my device is a -82 vs the newer -85 is it? i got this phone with the understanding that the -82 will work but not at full 3g speed. thanks!
ive downloaded/installed the proxy patch 2.1 and att wat medianet and mms cabs...to no avail
Is the phone running a stock HTC ROM? If so, just run the HTC Connection Setup Wizard from Start -> Settings -> Connections. It will detect your AT&T SIM, and configure the MEdia Net connection correctly.
Oh, and moving out of ROM Development.
yea i have that set with wap.cingular access point and it cant connect still....no usernames or passwords or domains.

When you look at the advanced setting of the connection it created, make sure that under Proxy Settings only "This network connects to the Internet" is checked. "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" should be unchecked.
I've used the T8282 on ATT and am currently using T8285. Both worked without a problem. Is the phone detecting your sim card? Is ATT network set-up, but your just showing now service? Look at your phone settings and check to see if a band has been selected ie GSM 1900/2100, auto etc. I don't recall the stock rom as well, haven't used it in 6 months, but if I recall, go to settings tab in manila, select the phone, wifi, internet etc. option, then select phone. You should find an option that says change band. Select it and see what band your phone is set to. If anything, check auto, and see what happens.

band: both network and GSM/UMTS set to auto
Did you say above that there was no username or password set in the settings->connections->connections? In other words the required username and Pass of Medianet?
yes those fields are left blank as per atts support page i linked
Go ahead and select "manage connections" under Media Net. On the next screen choose edit and go through until you can add the user and pass
All caps
Username: [email protected]
Pass: CINGULAR1
I had to fill these in manually when I first received my T8285. My data worked thereafter.
You're configuring your unlocked HD via the set up of a carrier based ATT Fuze. I think may be some of the problem. I configured the settings on mine seemingly a hundred times, but never in the manner suggested by the linked support page.
yea i was reading that and just checked this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447648
and did what you said....no luck
tried [email protected] and [email protected] too
this is stupid. haha shoudltn be this hard. thanks for all the support, i appreciate it
lady at att did say this plan took effective 1.5 weeks ago so even though i called in today to change my plan to a data one...it should be working...
probably be easier if i could screenshot my phone....
Mine is [email protected]. Out of curiosity, did you input it in "all caps"?
yep tried:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
my sim card is really old...can that be a problem??
phone should be "dialing" wap.cingular correct?
i wonder if there are problems with my phone because i cant send text messages either and if i go to settings > phone > services tab > voice mail and text messages.... it cant get any info from the network...
Yes indeed. Mine is two years old. Some that still have the cingular card have had issues. I guess the quickest way to find out is pop someone else's sim in to see if it configures your setting properly. When you go through set up initially, your ATT settings should be populated automatically. I'd like to see you get this working.
well my sim card is way beyond that. it was before att changed their name to cingular (and apparently back to att again now). got it when i got the sony ericsson t610 when it was first released...2003???
i wonder if this truly is the problem and i wonder if i take it into a store will they help me out since i have an unsupported phone.
phone when i got it new was able to call right away when i first got it and first popped in this oldie sim...so as far as settings are concerned, its working in that aspect
A sim that old could most certainly be the problem. ATT should support you. If it's the sim, then it's a service related issue and not an issue with the device. It may be that you just run by att and have them pop one of theirs' in and see. Another thought, after inputing the username and Pass, are you soft resetting?
I've used this cab on some devices (e.g. xperia) to get the AT&T data to work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=67434&d=1201326345
see if that helps for you. I believe it's designed for the Tilt but shouldn't do any harm on your HD...
ok i finally figured this out after going to the att store. it turns out it was indeed my sim card that was keeping me from sending text messages (back in this old thread i started http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515288&highlight=send+text+messages).
the online issue was due to 2 things. the att lady told me she had added a data plan but turns out when i went to the store the dude there checked and there was no data plan. second was again because of the old sim card.
my sim card was from back in the days of the sony ericsson t610 back in 2003 before att became cingular (and now back to att again).
so hopefully this thread can be future reference for others that may have trouble with their blackstone! woohoo!! i am connected now. feels good to have internet everywhere i go.

Unlocked Nexus One 3G in UK

Will the Nexus One work with all Networks in the UK on 3G and H?
Will it work on Three network?
it supports the same bands as the diamond 2, so I think so....
I rang up 3 UK last night to confirm if nexus one will work on 3 network and the person on the other side of the phone did'nt know what was I talking about... I tried to explain to him that I am buying Nexus one, will it work on three network, and the reply was "Sir we don't sell Nexus one at the moment"
I guess Nexus one will work on 3 Uk, I recently sold my HD2 which I was using on 3 Uk, it was working great with no problems apart from Switching between HSDPA to 3G and so forth...
The Nexus one supports the 2100Mhz band so as did HD2, so My guess is it will work.
My Nexus One arrived today, and I've put my 3 SIM card in.
Voice and text are working fine, but I'm having trouble getting an internet connection. I'm sure that is just me not getting the settings right rather than a problem with the phone/radio however.

I'm really interested in this phone but need to be sure if it is going to fully work with 3 UK network..
I will try, but not getting far with trying to Google the answer for the APN settings etc.
Might have to ring 3 tonight and ask them to help me, though with their previous service and the fact this is a brand new phone that they don't officially support I'm not looking forward to it.

Thanks man, but scratch that - I'm online!
Thought I had the right settings (APN should be three.co.uk) but I think I just needed to restart the phone after applying the settings.
From a quick play around it seems really good. Pages load quickly, and Google maps (coming from an LG Viewty) is amazingly fast!
I'm in central London and just did a quick speed test - results were 762 kbps, with a latency 1.05 seconds. I've seen faster, but that's good enough for now.
Conclusion - yes, it works with a 3 SIM
edit: Sorry to make you go through all that copying of the settings - appreciate the help though.

APN setting / mobile data lost

I don't use my mobile data very often so i just recently noticed that it has ceased to work. I'm trying to narrow down the possible culprets on my end before calling ol ATT. Could someone please post their working APN settings.
also can anyone think of a setting that might survive complete wipes and nandroid restores (to a time when i know it did work) that could be causing me issues

Hi & sorry for digging up a months old thread.
How did you ever solve this issue?
May I ask what the APN settings for MMS is?
I can't seem to recieve and send MMS messages and it's starting to annoy me.

[Q] configurating the data for simple mobile?

I sure hope you guys can help me get the data up and running on my new dvp that I purchased unlocked from newegg.
This phone is approved on simple mobile's website, they even provide the programming steps to get the data functioning properly. This is where things have gone astray. When I dial the ##634# I'm taken to a EM screen that displays the following information:
Phone Information
System Information
RD Test
CIT
Protocol
Service Center
According to simple mobile's programming guide I should be able to access both mms settings and data settings for proper configuration... neither are accessible from this screen.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? I spoke with simple mobile and they had no solutions, Dell was of no help as well. What do I need to do to access the mms and apn settings on my phone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Your system should be updated least to Mango to change settings. Default SHIP version 7004 doesnt include operator settings only default T_mobile.
Sorry, I failed to mention that I updated the phone to windows 7.5 mango and I'm still seeing the same screen. I found a youtube video showing the screen I get to when entering ##634# but I don't have enough posts to display the link. Just search dvp matrix screen on youtube and it's the first video that comes up.
If you haven't already, you must long-press the EM application and uninstall. At that point, redial the ##634# number, and the latest version will be installed onto the device. The difference (I suspect) you'll immediately see is a new splash image of a wine glass being fancy on a table. After that, you will be greeted with significantly less options; including MMS settings.
That was the trouble I had to go through before I could get mine set up properly. I've managed to get everything working, including MMS. The issue is that I swear Simple Mobile caps data speed, which wouldn't surprise me too much. Otherwise it functions as it should. Even if WP7 doesn't really know how to treat the physical keyboard. That's one of my biggest issues with it.
what settings did you use for picture texts? my wife has this phone on simple mobile and I can't get picture text to work

APN: simple
MMSC: h(tt)p://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapeng

Any other values are left blank. The Simple Mobile settings don't specify a port number, and the Auth Type is actually specified as "None", I believe, but EM doesn't give a good gosh golly 'bout it. Either way, I have no issues.
StraightTalk Tmobile sim
FYI I have my Dell Venue Pro now working on a StraightTalk T-Mobile sim getting 3G symbol top left. MMS is working too. I have the EM application with the MMS section and inputted the settings that came with the sim card.
It be interesting to what the difference between StraightTalk and Simple Mobile is. I'm getting in the bandwidth S app test around 3 meg down and 1.5 up when I did it last night.

WOW... I was contemplating switching to StraightTalk... currently on Simple Mobile $60 plan and the $15 savings is reason enough to switch. Hopefully you can give us an update in a couple of weeks... thanks!

Let me know what kind of update you looking for.
I came from a Nokia 5800 phone on AT&T with the non-smartphone data plan ($15) + 39.99 for voice no Texting since I had email. May data usage was around 2 gig go 2.2 at most one month. Probably because I set up the phone for wifi for home and couple other places.
I really like window phone 7.5 but not the experience I had with it when I tried out the HTC Titan earlier this year with the call audio quality issues and random power cycles. I almost went to contract with that phone thank god I didn't because I didn't want the hardware issues for two years.
Then I came across Dell Venue Pro even though its a year old the Phone basically works except for Compass. Call audio quality is night and day compared with Titan. Then I saw StraightTalk offering BYOP sim program. And that brings me to now. I still use Wifi whenever possible. Don't expect truly unlimited data though because it seems with a ST AT&T sim you really get around 2 or 3 gig before getting notified is some cases. With the ST TMobile simm noone know exactly the cut off. Go easy on data use Wifi when ever possible is my advice so that when you need data on the road you have it.
You don't need the EM app, all you need is the Connection Settings app
Nokia Lumia 800 simple mobile
This post really helped me. I was able to change my browser APN when i typed ##634# number and got web working
androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html error was fixed!!

Isn't Connection Settings an HTC thing?
So since I originally posted the MMS info I've sold my Venue Pro. ...But then I missed it a lot and got another, haha. I would have never guessed it, but "past" me has helped "present" me with the settings. Still a bit wonky, however. I've noticed that MMS refuses to work with WiFi on. Is that kind of a standard thing?

[Q] anybody managed to tether their Nexus 4 with EE (orange) UK?

no joy here.
i've tried everything i can think of to get the built-in wifi hotspot to work, without success. i can connect, but then there is no internet access. on my vista laptop the connection properties read: "access: local only".
i've also tried tethering my blackberry playbook, with similar (non-) results.
i was beginning to think that EE might be detecting tethering and had started to block it, but i managed to connect OK today using the same sim in my old HTC Hd2 winMO 6.5 phone and the wmwifirouter tethering app.
Yes it works for me with my iPad, though i am on T-Mobile but its all part of the same network i think

Make sure you have the consumer broadband APN assigned. Search Google for the settings as I'm too lazing to paste mine! You should find them using google and then tethering will work. I use it regularly connecting my TF101.

i cant see consumer broadband on my apn list just orange internet and mms
thanks for the replies guys.
i looked at settings/ more... mobile networks/ access point names.
there was no "Consumer Broadband" APN defined, so i created one entering values derived from here:
http://www.burnedouthippy.com/2011/...onnection-problem-on-the-htc-desireorange-uk/
'Select Consumer Broadband
Change the following settings, taking care to make sure that you copy these details exactly (including capital or lowercase lettering)…
APN from consumerbroadband to orangeinternet
Username from <Not set> to Orange
Password from <Not set> to Multimedia
Authentication type should be set to CHAP.
Press your Menu button, tap “Save”
Now in theory, you should be able to create a hotspot and connect to the internet'
didn't work for me, alas!
any other ideas?

tried the same site mate, nada for me too
thats me tried foxfi(force close),wifi tethering for root users and pdanet to no avail so im giving up will save up for 3g n7
not good enough really, is it?
between this and the bluetooth fiasco i'm getting a bit angry with google.
hopefully the 4.2.2 update will bring some fixes.
i'm going to keep bumping this thread in the meanwhile.
Anybody else on EE (orange) and tethering successfully? Anybody?
I have had no success either. I tried calling orange but the guy was convinced I needed LG software like Kies to be able to set it up so gave me the number for LG. I think I'll call back and speak to someone else.
success!
problem solved!
i am now tethering my laptop and blackberry playbook to my N4 on EE (orange) UK!
All that was necessary was to phone Orange and have them switch it on; simple as that. i spoke to a chap in India, told him which handset i had, and he then activated data tethering "with a 1GB cap".
i received a "updated sevices" text on my phone moments later, switched off and on again, and it worked thereafter.
there was no charge for this. my contract is a 1 month sim-only dolphin 20 with 1GB data and i would presume the tethering comes out of this allowance (although the chap on the phone said that this was a separate thing ??)
anyway, for anybody else, it's nothing to do with APN settings etc. you need to phone orange and ask for it to be activated.
I'm on ee or orange UK and my hotspot works, you have to go into a ee store and activate tethering through them, check your data plan on your my orange account like the attached image and see if it says tethering in the info underneath the bar

thanks. however i just checked my orange online account and, unless it's taking ages to update (not unknown for orange), there is nothing new listed; certainly nothing about tethering, yet my tethering now works where it didn't before.
so it looks like it doesn't need to be indicated on the account for it to be activated.

just phoned them and that's me sorted too, cheers mate

Called them again and after a fair amount of messing around including adding the consumer broadband apn the guy said doesn't see why it won't work and that I should try tethering to a different device to check is not my macbook with the problem
Sigh
I still can't get this to work on the N4, I have it as a part of my package because it used to work on my HTC.

I am on Orange. I changed to the N4 from my galaxy S2. My tethering used to work on the S2 (thought I had to change the APN settings to make it work) but hasn't worked at all on the N4. I know it could be due to it being a different device but it doesn't make much sense.
I am planning to move to Giff Gaff in the next few days, I will report back if I have any change on the Wifi tethering!
