Hey guys! I'm going to a trip to Poland to see Auschwitz and all that stuff about the holocaust with my class on the nesxt monday, and now i'm wondering which rom for our device that got the longest battery life?
I'll just be able to load the battery on every second day and i want to upload 2-4 photos everyday to facebook and i want to be able to take photos without the batterys going to 1%
Right now I'm using SwiftDroid but the battery isn't that good, so.. which rom do you think i shall use?
2.1 custom roms are good.

sanmit: Which of them do you think is the best? And do them got Swedish/Svenska as language?
Stay on SwiftDroid, but reduce the clock of the CPU to stock 600MHz (or lower) max and 122MHz min. Try to turn off any fancy animations of menus etc. Use static wallpaper instead of live one. Turn off screen rotation, wifi, BT, GPS. And AVOID USING THE PHONE until You need it actually (reviewing pics etc).
That should maximize Your battery charge.
Have a safe trip and have fun!
P.S. Oh, and I forgot to mention to turn off (remove temporarily) any widgets like clock, weather...
Try to find a compromise in all this stuff and stick to it.
MomirPeh: I'm already using my phone like that and still the battery is kind of crappy
I think the Quarx 2.1 rom w/ his custom kernel is very good with battery. If you want to try it, download it from my Dropbox In this .zip is the system.img, boot.img and an update.zip file. The update.zip file contains a fix for the device rebooting when Wifi is turned on. You HAVE to flash this .zip with Clockworkmod 2.0 (2.5.1.8 recommended)
Hope it helps,
Jack

Swedish language support...not sure.
But i can say 2.1 mmxtreme advanced gives me 3 day usage with moderate audio-video and wifi.

Just use the Open Europe v20B stock ROM. No custom ROM gives a battery life better than a stock one. And one small tip. Do not use 3G. It drains that battery much faster. If you gotta use data, use 2G.

Definitely 2.1 mmxtreme Advanced Lite rom! I use my phone quite often, and no rom gave me more battery than that one! Turn of background data, 3g, mobile data, and other stuff like that. Use an advanced Power Widget or ZDBox to have them all "use-ready" all the time

Hey guys & gals just wanted 2 share something with u. I recently decided 2 uninstall cetcpu from my phone & decided 2 go with cpu tuner instead. In doing so i've noticed my battery life improve significantly with some profile tweaking of course. If you've run the virtuous htc sence rom with the pershoot o.c kernal u know how disgusting the battery life can b.It literally sucks the juice out of your battery like "Debbie" from Debbie does Dallas sucks the juice out of...well u know. Anyway,i also noticed how little juice the system resources now use up. I included a screenshot of the battery status screen.Hope this helps anyone with battery issues especially if your running the rom & kernal mentioned above, it worked 4 maybe it can work 4 u. P.S I have the screen set to 20% brightness, gps, wifi, blutooth, autosync all disabled.Only reason i mention this is because even with all these things disabled along with a few other,b4 installing cpu tuner my battery would still drain like crazy. Thx.

i have almost the exact same info on mine with setcpu oc to 1ghz on CM6.1 and i get atleast a full day of use with frequent music and texts. alot better then any other android phone.
I don't know how you guys are having such bad battery life. Currently at the moment I am at 22h 11m 51s since unplugged with 57% left. This is all with CM6.1 RC4 w/ wifi + wifi calling on all the time when I am home, autosync on for everything, auto brightness, and some use of gps. I listen to music on my phone for atleast 3+ hours walking to and from class + texting, browsing, facebook, twitter, fantasy league during class and the occasional call, pretty good usage. with setcpu on oc to 1ghz with some profiles set up.

Is the phone not quick enough at 1Ghz? I keep mines on stock speeds, have setcpu installed but don't use, and have CyanogensMod on it. I get the whole days worth plus more of battery. I can't even kill it when I want to recalibrate it.
A whole day for me is about 16-20 hours for me without charging. This is MADNESS!

Not that the phone is not fast enough. It's placebo effect where people "feel" that it needs to be faster when they overclock it at crazy speed. The G2 has already proved itself a speed monster, none of the android phones out there can top it right now. As for the battery life, I honestly don't notice any considerable improvement.

One suggestion for people that are concerned with battery life...
I recently did an experiment of sorts and turned off 3G on my phone. I found that I went from 1 day per full charge to 3 days per charge. I obviously didn't have updates from the email app, twitter, facebook etc., but I just turned 3G on every now and then and updated everything manually. I've since started leaving 3G off whenever I don't need it and generally get 2 days use out of a full charge.
Obviously this won't suit everyone, but if turning off 3G when you don't need it is an option for you then you will definitely experience a much better battery life!

For me it's perfect. The battery life lasts for a complete day. I listen to music about 2-2.5 hours, use internet for about 20-30 min a day and make a few calls. But I always turn internet off when I don't use it it really saves battery (i think it works for any build). Also 1 day I listened to music for 6 hours, used internet for +-30 mins and there was still 37%. I was really impressed!

You won't have to re-root as Joe's ROM is already rooted. But I think the 2.1 ROMs offer the best battery (Once calibrated that is) mainly all custom ROMs for our device have bugs (Except from 2.1 ROMs) it's just one of them things I guess.

Super-Optimized Eclair by far, with constant music and games, it ran for 2 days, still leaving me with 30% battery to spare (then I re-charged, I bet I could of squeezed out another day and a half out of it)... I've done this without SetCpu screen off lower clock profile, with it, I bet it could run for 4 days of above average usage...

homebase 3.4, update 5.4a , faux enhanced 2.0 1 ghz kernel . battery last for 2 days + 20% left
use setcpu , set up profiles, underclock the profiles
task manager, add most of the apps to auto end list

Battery Life
I had the same problem recently, especially with Faux's 2.0 kernel @ 1.1ghz(1.9 had better battery life :/). Even with Juice Defender(the saint of batter life) I was only getting like 16 hours. My first suggestion is to use 1ghz for standard use, and to create a CPU profile which drops clock speed to 216mhz when screen is off. The difference between 1.1ghz and 1ghz with me was 80% after 12 hours compared to 30%. As I mentioned before, if you're rooted, get JuiceDefender. It has typically gets me 1.4x-1.5x the battery life. That is, even in you're sad case, 6 hours of extra life. Finally, kill Facebook and Browser when you're not using them, they seem to kill battery life.
I don't miss any of it. I check gmail manually via k9 mail , and I can thaw market if I need it. Right now I'm 14 hours with 42% batt.

Cyanogenmod 7 with faux's enhanced stock kernel for CM7. Make sure you have the correct radio and calibrate your battery, another member has already posted the link to that thread. I don't use juice defender or any other task killers or anything like that. Brightness turned to 20%, set CPU profile set to powersave, gps satellites disabled. 2. your OC settings look a little high for everyday use. I would try to OC lower and use the superbad governor. my settings are 1017/122 superbad and everything runs smoothly
3. looks like messaging and settings are taking up some memory, try killing those with the task killer. hold down the home button and a window will pop up, on the bottom there is "task killer"
4. looks normal with your OC settings
*edit* Battery Calibration app from the market also works really well, give it a shot. charge your phone til its 100%, and leave it plugged into the charger. run the app, calibrate your battery, then unplug and youre done

if you tap on "Android System" itll show a list of all the apps and things associated, from there you can pinpoint on what is using up your battery and just kill that app. I also noticed that youre on MIUI and you have a screenshot app...you know that function is already built into MIUI, just hold volume down then tap the menu button. theres a list of all kinds of neat little button quirks in the OP of the thread

Dammit man definitely "beats" makin funnny shakin gestures ... thanks again.
Well, here is my 2 cents.
Keep i'm mind that I had pandora running continuously for almost 5 hours. I unplugged my phone at 11 am. It has been running for almost 13.hours..
I have noticed that if my phone is hooked to a wifi signal, the battery last easy 3 times more.
3 days ago I had it running for 14.hours and it was still at 74%, of course, very little use, since I was a working all day
Second image you can see that I have been keeping the screen on for 3 hours

Thanks guys ...
So today I jus setcpu!
Here is the adjustment and activities I did today in regards to battery usage:
Set CPU @ 1.1ghz smartass (same performance)
unplugged for 5hrs
4hrs using data: yahoo messenger, internet browse, gtalk
used ubermusic in traffic (bumpin "ni**as in paris" on repeat LOL)
1hr on wifi (unless wifi was automatically turned on at the mall)
no calls (TY columbus day)
Tried to take a pic at 85% to keep it consistant as the first pic. LOL
Ill be traveling this weekend so im gonna put the GPS to work.
I used GPS the other day @ 1.6ghz and the latency was so minimal
with reroutes being spoken after maybe 200-500 ft of a turn not taken.

O use MIUI.us .
I'm going to post you the progress during the day today.
I'm unplugged the phone at 9 am, right now is 11:22pm and I still have 61%
As you can see I have been all day hooked to a wifi. If i'm not in a wifi, I would be at 20% I think
Btw, my display says 48 min , so you can see that I didn't use my phone that much, I have been.working all day

As general information, what I did was:
Wipe everything
Install ROM
Factory reset
Install my basic apps
Drain the battery to zero
Charge it all the way to 100%
Calibrate it with the app on the market
let the battery die again til zero
Charge it again til 100%
After the second day, it was going.better
Fyi, if I am constantly on non wifi networks, it goes down faster.
And i'm using panache radio
Hope it works for you

The person before you recommended that tactic ... and I have done so to help with the result ive got.
Here is my next hurdle:
CELL STANDBY
I believe CM7 or RoyalGinger had an option to manipulate cell standby while on wifi networks. Since im not using MIUI ill be researching this to get rid of this issue.
Thanks to the replies and xda this is the longest ive had my phone unplugged @
21 hrs (i had to plug my phone via usb for 2min to get something from my SD card cause I was impatient to figure out how to send it wirelessly, so no screenshot)

to help with the Cell Standby, while connected to wifi, set your mobile network to 2G/GSM only in the mobile network settings. prevents your phone from trying to connect to 3G/4G which saves battery as well

no problem bro. yep, running TDJ's Darkside Runny v1.5.1 and its the best Sense build Ive ever flashed. along with the blissmod and quicklaunch widget, its just bad ass. I was a religious MIUI user, but this rom just drew me in. of course the battery life is shorter on Sense builds due to the UI and all the eye candy and bloat, but after 19+ hours average on a full charge, Im not complaining one bit
Do you get commission selling sense roms ? LOL dammit MAN!
i would switch up if i could get 19hrs on sense 3.5. I like its UI interaction (ie text message has address and I can highlight and go straight to navigation)
My issue aside from battery is the widgets not loading correctly on sense 3.5. Do you get that?
With all that eye candy, bloat, etc What do you run your processor at? is it still 1012max superbad?

nah, never had any problems with the widgets. everything works for me as it should. yeah Im still running 1017/122 superbad on Sense as well, no problems at all and everything is still smooth. I dont play games on my phaone, so I mainly browse the net, text, call, listen to music, etc...sync only when needed and OC when needed also.
