Hey, I'm helping my friend install a new rom on his Droid X because the GB update messed his phone up. The Recovery version is 2.xxxx. I have Team Liquid's rom which won't install and it says
"E: failed to verify whole-file signature"
"E: signature verification failed"
"Installation aborted."
I thought maybe the download was bad so I downloaded OMGB and the same thing happens.
I can install roms without a problem on my Thunderbolt but I know nothing about this phone. It took me a bit just to figure out how to get into Recovery. No longer can I get into Recovery with Rom Manager or Quick Boot. If I tried to use those apps it just ends up rebooting the phone.
Any ideas why this is happening? Should I install the latest version of Recovery (CWM)? I downgraded the Recovery because I thought the new version was preventing Rom Manager and Quick Boot from booting into Recovery mode. Thanks in advance!!
Edit: I downloaded the Droid 2 Bootstrap app and now I managed to get into Recovery but installation failed again. It says
"Installing update..."
"assert failed: run_program("/tmp/check_kernel")"
"==0"
"E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip"
"(Status 7)"
"Installation aborted."
Any ideas?
Sbf and try from there

I'm a lil confused as what you mean when you say the GB update messed his phone up. If it was a OTA update that messed the phone up, then i would simply suggest getting rid of root and going back to Verizon because it could be an issue with that phone in itself.
Now if the GB update was caused by you guys trying to do certain things than follow directions of above poster StayFrosty777 (Cool name btw dude lol).
Also make sure that you download a custom rom that is on the build. I'm unsure of whether he actually has GB or if still on Froyo. If he is still on Froyo you will need to flash a Froyo rom, flashing a rom such as Liquid 3.0 which is based on GB, will not work on Froyo.
Hi,
I've been trying to make a recovery zip. When I run it it says error 6 and installation aborted.
What is error 6?
Can someone provide a link with all the error codes?

yes im wondering too i had a error 0 when trying to flash a keyboard skin
Maybe a version issue? You could try older versions of Clockworkmod recovery.

error 0 is normally to do with the scripting used - update-script or updater-script
When I tried to update my Nexus S 4G (D720) after flashing a slightly tweaked 2.3.7, it went bonkers. I used the systems method by going to the about menu and system update. When I said install, it booted to ClockWorkMod which apparently was going to handle the operation. But, then, it gave me an "Assert failed: apply_patch_ckeck ("/system/app/ApplicationsProvider.apk", blah blah, blah... E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip (Status 7) I don't know what to do. Any help? If you need more info, say so.
u need to be stock, including recovery to flash the official ota update

Thanks
Where can I find the stock recovery? Or where can I find a unroot method compatible with Ubuntu?
This is what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167819

Hey, I've already flashed the factory image for 4.1.2 but when I try to apply the OTA patch for 4.2 I get the assert failed: apple_patch_check error.
I have tried to reflash the factory image but got the same error but for a different app. I also extracted the boot.img from the factory image and flashed that, however I am still suffering from the same problem. Can someone please help me out?
I had the same problem :/ but i Use the nexus 7 toolkit to flash back to stock once in stock I rooted and then flashed recovery and flashed the update with no problem

Hi all. I am trying to sideload KK but getting" E:error in /tmp/update.zip; Status 7; installation aborted system/app/books.apk has unexpected contents" error message.
I thought the download might be corrupted, so I downloaded a second time and get the same result.
Can anyone help? This is really frustrating and disapponting.
Thanks!
Make sure you have the latest custom recovery. I recommend using cwm recovery. Some more info about the device may help. Are you using custom or stock ROM? where did u get the side load from?

Nexus 4 with Titanium Backup and SuperuserSU installed. I got the side load from the link in this post and followed this steps precisely:
