Google the Droid 3 root method. It is very straightforward and also works on the stock OTA .602 Droid X build.

Better late than never!
I have Cellular South...or C-Spire also, and I just upgraded to the Milestone X from a HeroC as well. I just typed you up this nice and helpful response to help you, but unfortunately, I'm a new user, so I could't post any outside links. IF you'd still like the help, you can email me and I'll send you back the response that I saved. Just put MILESTONE X in the subject line so I won't miss it.

The Milestone X is identical to the Droid X, it's just renamed by C Spire to avoid licensing issues I suppose.

How? I was able to get my nTelos one rooted running the 2.2.2 but the Gingerbread 2.3.5 update is coming soon and I'm scared to upgrade. Is it worth it? How did you root?

use this DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip
So did you just create an ADB and root it with that package. Where did you find that package? Any instructions?
It is weird coming from the HTC Hero with tons of information on rooting, etc and coming to the Milestone X where there isn't too much.
What else have you done your Milestone X?

just unzip and run the file, and follow the instructions on screen
I just bricked my ntelos Milestone X. It had done the OTA 2.3.5 update today, and I tried to sbf back to 2.2. Silly me! Now when I turn it on, all I get is the bootloader screen with a MEM_MAP Blank error. Looks like there is no way to sbf out of this either....presently. Any thoughts?

can you boot recovery?
EDIT: nevermind silly question.... same thing happened to me... had no choice but to warranty the phone... without a working sbf for the milestone x, that mem_map blank error pretty much means your are fully bricked.

[Q] Changelog for firmware 2.3.4-4.5.1?

I'm new to XDA, and hoping to find details or a changelog for the Firmware Team's recent 2.3.4-4.5.1 SBF. What do the other version numbers mean (57_DR4-51-120117)?
I'm also wondering how it compares to other newish Droid2 firmwares, such as 4.5.602, 4.5.605, or 4.5.621. And is it rooted/rootable?
Full disclosure: I'm one of the suckers who is stuck on the 621 OTA update. Thanks for any leads.
sbf this already leaked, there's no way brickar the droid 2, at least today

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean. My Droid 2 isn't bricked, but I'm stuck without root on the system 621 update (if I tried to flash another SBF, then all reports say it would be bricked).
There's a solution* for Droid X users in this same predicament, which involves flashing a nTelos Milestone X .604 SBF. I'm hoping to find a similar solution for Droid 2.
*droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-general-discussion/45783-important-info-621-update.html
A couple of folks have confirmed the SBF in question is exactly the 4.5.621 system.
I still don't know why the version number differs, but it's good to know people can use their phones again after bricking through 621.
This thread can probably be closed. Now to wait quietly for someone to root this little bastard of an update...
