Hello,
My X4500 see the Arc, but not the PS3 !?
Weird ?
Cheers
My PS3 sees the Arc if I turn Media Server on fine, and I can see all media that the Arc can natively play.
Unfortunately, it doesn't show avi files.
Yep also works for me just fine just needed to accept ps3 on the phone

Works for me... was able to view all my pictures and listen to my music.
Also, mp4 videos I had saved also came up and played.
Have you done something "special" ?
All I done was turn on media server on phone make sure media server is enabled on ps3 tried to connect little notification pops up on phone clicked always allow. Also linked to my bravia tv the same. Hope you sort it

Does your Arc have the media server icon in the notification area?
Yes, as I said it works for my Sony TV, but nothing on the PS3.

I know the international version has DLNA support does the vibrant have it? I think the International version uses an Allshare DLNA app or something, I'm not to familiar with it.
I can confirm that the Vibrant does have the allshare DLNA app also.
I didn't even realize it had it until I read your post and took a peek for myself.
I just tested the Vibrant DLNA sharing feature on my PS3.
Played music my Mac using MediaLink. It seems to work nicely.
PS3 sees the new server and plays files from it.
The one thing I couldn't do is push a video to the PS3 and make it play. It seems the PS3 needs to be the one requesting to play the file.

How were you able to get your PS3 to play the video type? I was able to access the videos on my internal memory (16GB), but not my SD card (Avatar). But then it just said Unsupported File Type or whatever.
Is there a way to get the PS3 to play other types of video files than what it comes with stock?
you wont be able to see avatar because of copy right... anything copy written can not be seen over dlna.....
n00b question here, but where and how do I use DLNA on the Vibrant? I just got the phone and I am new to XDA... plz be gentle. LoL
Edit:
N/M Now I feel like a total n00b... found it. "all share"
Sorry, I should have been specific. I played music, but Did not try video.
Use the allshare app to use DLNA.

Is there DLNA software we can download/install to the PC, to turn the PC into a DLNA server and send files to the phone over my home wifi? (Windows XP Sp3) ... Be easier than having to plug in the USB cable.
thx

you should be able to use windows media player to share content. I'm not sure this method allows you to push content back to your pc
Open Windows Media Player > Library > Media Sharing and mess with settings there
Hi,
Has any of you guys got TVersity media server working with X10? I can browse TVersity library from my X10 but whenever I click on any video I get an immediate unsuccessful download.
I tried using nswPlayer and it gives me "illegal file" whenever I tap on any video on the TVersity media library page.
Is there any way to get TVersity working with my X10 as it works on iPhone?
Don't you need Flash player to watch the videos?
Doesn't work on 1.6... may work on 2.1 if SE do something about it.
TVersity transcodes all media files to mp4 and it works on iPhone so I dont think it needs flash support. I'm aware of the nattersg problem between apple and adobe so I dont think its flash support..

DLNA works "above" the connection so it's not dependable on the network hardware. As long as the end devices support it and there is a connection between them, it works. If you want to stream videos from your phone to your PC you'll need a software that suppors it. WMP supposedly is capable of receiving videos from the phone, but you'll need to enable remote control of the WMP.
its kinda like bluetooth but a totally different tech altogether.

you can share media from your phone using the CONNECTED MEDIA APP..
you need to have a DLNA enabled/capable tv to use it.

It would help to know at least your Windows version. Assuming it's win7 you need to open Windows media player, then click on 'stream' button and allow remote control of the player. Then open 'connected media' application on your phone, select the video you want to play, then it will search for DLNA players on your network and hopefully it will find your pc. You might have to disable the firewall on your computer and you must have WMP open while you search for DLNA players. As I said in my previous post, DLNA works regardless of your network hardware. If there is network connection, it should work.

I'm hoping that I get my half Lynk htc to do all this in the

Twonky testing a program desire.este also tried it and it works great.
Greetings.
Right I own a lacie cinema hd (i think thats whats it called) which is like a hard drive that plugs
Into your tv. But it can also be used like a NAS drive for streaming media over my home network for example I can stream moviea to my ps3.
Just wondering if anyone knows of any decents apps or any other way I could maybe stream
Them to my phone.
it would make a great little telly at the side of my bed using the dock

Not seen anything on Android that fits that description.
Just transfer anything you want on to your sd beforehand.
Then there's always Dr. Who on BBC iPlayer!
If you have a PS3, you can use the Multimedia Server app in order to stream things. It works pretty nicely.

Transfering movies to my sd card is tiresome and annoying thats why im interested
in streaming. It would save alot of time as i have a good sized library of content from films to tv series like SOA. it would be handy to just be able to stream anything when i felt like it
And dr who lol.
Surprised there is nothing out there for android fitting the bill
On android we don't need a transcoding application running on our PC..
Visit This thread. From there instal cifs manager from the market, share a folder on your pc then mount that share on your sdcard
Stream from pc in any app that supports the format
If you guys would like a more detailed guide I could make one... a thanks or a donation towards blagus's new device wouldn't hurt

thats no different to streaming from a PC, it will work fine if your nas is sharing via cifs/smb which Im sure it would be if you don't know what im talking about
You can get even fancier and setup a vpn at your house and connect to your pc via cifs over the vpn... but ill leave that for another day
Try UPnPlay in the Android marketplace. It sees all my computers. It works great for me. You can navigate through folders on any networked device and then select an app to play the file. I've heard that ES File Explorer can work as well but I use UPnPlay all the time to stream from all my devices. It won't transcode like Air Video Server but it helps get the job done.

Second that, UPnPlay for all your streaming needs.
The problem I have is that in windows Vista and 7 I can’t share any folders not on the C: drive. I have 3 one terabyte drives. C:, E: and D:. Every time I share a non C drive it always tells me I don’t have permissions to access that share when I try to open it from another PC. The same goes for external drives. They all have the same permissions set.
I have never had problems
Streaming” from those drives.
P.S. Folder sharing should never be called streaming. It confuses the noobs.
UPnPlay sounds good im gonna try that out now I just need a decent video player that supports
Avi lol
edit: OK using Upnplay in conjunction with mobo player works flawlessly now watching bad lieutenant over
my home network quality
Thankyou for your replys
I want to stream a few movies from my tablet to my Samsung LED t.v like I can with my SGS2, but it seems as if the tab 10.1 doesn't have allshare.
I've googled it and found that it's supposed to have DLNA and allshare. What can I do?
Think it's a waiting game. Should get it from Samsung as an update. Eventually.
That's what I've heard anyway...

The gtab 10.1 came with stock HC3.1. Allshare/Dnla is a sammy product that requires the Touchwiz libraries. Expect to see it once TW4 officially drops for the tablet.

Well, just to keep this thread alive, where is AllShare? Now, even after the official release of TouchWiz, still no AllShare.
The iMediaShare app will do the same, although it's not tablet-ready. I've been using it to send TED videos to my TV this afternoon. Free.
i use skifta. it works like allshare and will stream mkv files too so long as there is a player capable of playing mkv files on your tablet.

I'm not sure about the permissions with that app?
READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITYAllows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.

So long as your tablet isn't a phone I wouldn't worry about it. I've got it installed mine, and although the UI doesn't stretch to fill the big screen, the media lists do. When Allshare shows up, and if it works with my LG TV then I'll delete imediashare. Only suggested it as a placeholder until Samsung gets around to providing a solution.
Still have no idea about the suggestion by a salesclerk who stated that the Tablet could play your TV's content. The only way I get that done is if I'm lucky enough to find the same show on the network's web site and play it from there.
Media players need to know when the phone is in use so you aren't hearing asain midget porn in the background while talking to grandma..

I didn't have any trouble downloading and running it, but it isn't written for tablets as the small app UI will attest. It works though, at least between my LG smart TV and my Tab.

For streaming movies, photos from your PC along with several Tab resident services, (YouTube, Shoutcast Flickr, Picasa and others), check out ZappoTV. The Android version is new and a work in progress but the iOS version is pretty solid.
You will need a compatible device attached to your TV or AV Receiver. I use the WDTV Live Plus but there are a number of others that work very well. You will also need a media server installed on your PC, (I use Tversity).
With this setup, I can fire up the Tab, turn my AV receiver to the appropriate input and control everything from my comfy leather chair. I am not sure if this app will stream content stored on the Tab itself but just about anything on the PC is available.
For playing music on a stereo system connected to a media server, the Android version of ZappoTV is not as good as it needs to be. A better app if you just want to use the Tab to manage and play your PC-based music library is 2Player.
Now if someone would figure out a way to control Pandora with the Tab and send the output to a media device like my WDTV, I would be a really happy camper.
