Wow im a idiot - Atrix 4G General

So i was trying to do rsd lite and my phone has about 20% battery life i figured it would be fine well in the middle of the process (downgrading for root) the phone died and so the computer wouldnt charge so i assumed my wall charger wouldnt i got my rc car charger tried to charge the battery and the battery blew up well now im stuck with out a phone so i did go to att's website and they don't sell batteries for the atrix yet i did contact att on the online chat and the lady said they will have them in the store i hope they do i will be going to the store as soon as they open next time i wont bother to flash my phone without a full battery

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that given that it's in big red letters at the beginning of the instructions on how to flash an SBF. When you say you plugged an RC car charger into your battery, do you actually mean a charger from a remote control car? How did the battery explode? If what I think is true you tried a charger not rated for the same voltage or amperage as the battery and that is why it exploded.

True moral of the story, "DON'T CHARGE BATTERIES WITH RANDOM CHARGERS" even if the charger you used was rated at the same voltage and amperage as your Atrix charger, unless you:
1) charge the whole phone on the charger
2) you ensure the charger's positive and negative terminals are the same as the Atrix charger.

The battery is the same as the droid's, I think. Can't remember. Google it.

i fixed it for you.
just to let u know, charging using your computer is not the same as a wall charger. the wall charger puts out more current and probably would of charge your phone.
edit: why dont you just bring the phone back to ATT and say the battery exploded when you were charging it? just dont say you used a rc charger though...

Consider blocking the battery. You should be able to order it online for significantly less than att will charge.

My phone was almost dead and comp usb wouldn't charge it, A 30 sec google search mentioned the fact it wouldn't charge from usb when dead, wall charger is needed... pluged in and worked as normal.
I hope this was enough of a lession for you to not do something like that again.. at least you wernt hurt/ blinded.

Question about battery calibration

What is the purpose in doing this?
On to my real question
So anyways I charged my phone to 100%, removed it from the charger and wiped battery stats, used my phone and let it run all the way down and it turned off before I put it back on the charger. From reading you are not supposed to let it turn off. So should I do the process over again?
Thanks.
When I do the batter calibration I let it die completely and that's what it says everywhere so I think you'll be ok unless you really don't see an improvement in battery.

Seriously.. I think the USB charging port is bunk.. I brought the 2 batteries and a wall charger for 9.99 on ebay. I would always have to top off the batteries to they stay full charged...
With the Wall charger.. it's a way better way to charge. I"ve done 4 charge cycles.. and every time I plug in a charged battery off the walll charger it's stays fully charged for a long time.. then it trickles down... I serioulsy don't think calibration is the problem.. it's the USB charging port. There shouldn't be a need to Calibrate your battery.
Just my speculation.

i think he is talking about calibrating your battery in use with a new custom kernel, in which they recommend to calibrate battery.
to answer your question though, like you already know i did the same thing. the response i got from that is that it should not matter.
also i too got the 2 battery deal and wall charger for 9.99 and can deff say using a wall charger charges your phone way better than the included usb charger.

What is this two battery and wall charger?
For the kind of batteries we use in the cell phones, it is never advised to let the battery drain completely - this is stated in the manual that comes with the phone, too.
I believe it is wrong information that the battery needs to be drained completely in any case. Draining the battery completely actually reduces the storage capacity of the battery.
If you have more than one battery are you supposed to do the battery calibration for each one?

nexus s wont turn on after not using it for 4 months

ok i switched to another phone and i stooped using nexus s for like 4 months i was planning to sell it and today i took it out it does not even turn on. does not take charge. it was perfectly fine... what happened?????
Maybe the battery got killed.
does it do anything when its plugged in?
pull the battery, put it back in, try charging, oddly enough sometimes works.
it was perfectly fine until you left it for another <del>woman</del> phone. how did you think it would react?
Try charging it connected to a computer. Often wall chargers can't charge a device that is completely dead

A charger is a charger. If both are working properly then one won't charge better than the other. One may charge faster than the other. Perhaps the battery has a dead or weak cell in it. Try swapping batteries with someone and see if your phone will charge it. Give someone your battery and see if their phone charges it. Try their charger on your phone. Try your charger on their phone. Process of elimination.

Think about it..why would one charge faster than the other? well because the one charging faster is being given more current. if the battery is dead and isnt able to charge with the weak charger, maybe the one giving out more current is just enough current to get it started. You can compare this to jump starting a dead car battery.

Yeah, no. It doesn't work like that at all.
Chances are the battery is just totally dead. If you have some sort of a charger that can charge any given Li-ion battery, hook it up and see if it charges. Otherwise, you're going to have to beg/borrow/steal/buy a new battery.
Yeah, a dead or weak cell is just that. I might be wrong but once that happens, there's no way to fix or revive it that will bring it back to normal. Check into it. If it turns out to be a bad battery, I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me, I thought I might have read the ns uses the same battery as the Samsung moment. If this is true, please research it first, then it shouldn't be very expensive to replace. I highly suggest you get an OEM original Samsung battery. Aftermarket usually never hold up as good as an OEM if both batteries are the same ratings. I've had OEM batteries outlast aftermarket ones for uptime even when the OEM was rated significantly lower in output. Example: I had sprint official battery that was extended 2200 for my evo. I had aftermarket 3300 for the epic. The evo would outlast the epic when both had a full overnight charge. Now before anyone says that's not a fair comparison, consider this. When both phones had OEM 1500ma batteries in them, the evo would ALWAYS die before the epic would. Noticeably sooner.

My phone charges only during the day!!

Itz weird. I'm facing this problem since the last 3 days.
What happens is, my phone does not get charged during the evening or the night. I plugged it in the AC socket, I can see the red light and the battery indicator on the status bar also shows the charging animation. But the battery percentage just does not increase!!
Like, for instance, yesterday night, I tried to charge my phone and it did not get charged. It discharged fully. Today morning, at around 9am, I kept it to charge in the same socket and it charged (upto 100%). And just now, (itz 5:48 pm here) I tried to charge it through the same socket and itz not getting charged. WTF!!
P.S. I'm running CM7 build 16 (or probably 15). I am using this build since it was released.
HTC Wildfire
I think you should calibrate the battery. If still problem persist then my suggestion will be to get a new battery. Because this problem has been asked in Q&A a long days ago. Don't remember the subject line though

1st remove battery wait for sometime later insert it and try to charge ur phone through PC. It might work, else go to clockworkmod > advance > wipe battery > restart. This might work.
I tried that.
BTW, today my phone got charged usinng another charger. Itz still weird. My charger works inn my college but not at my home.. LoL
I think buying a new battery and keeping it as spare is the best alternative.

Best thing I ever bought was a spare battery and a universal (so I can use it when I upgrade too) battery charger that you clip a battery into, I never have to worry about battery life as no matter how hard I hammer it, my spare is always charged first.

Battery died overnight while charging on USB 2.0?

I plugged in a 1 amp USB 2.0 charger before going to bed last night when the phone had about 30% of battery life. I've used this charger on my galaxy before and it charged to 100% without any hickups but the phone died on me tonight. What could have happened?

Oh I don't know....Maybe the fact you are using the wrong charger? Lol no but seriously.
The S5 has a 2800mAh battery that is configured to charge off a 2.0A brick. Using anything but can result in this type of behavior.
First off you totally cut charging time in half but using a 1.0A charger. Second, there could of been apps using battery all night. I'd stick to the charger the phone came with.
*EDIT* Other then that all I can think of is it fell out of the phone/wall overnight. Unless you got kids. I've woken up plenty of times to see my kids trying to guess my unlock code.

Thanks for your input but using a 1 amp charger should be more than enough to charge the phone regardless whatever background app is running. It may charge slower but there's a serious problem if the phone is discharging faster than that 1 amp charger could handle. I've used this charger for two weeks already and it worked fine until last night.

Maybe the wire isn't working right. Maybe the wire just gave out. It's happened to me before. I woke up with my S4 one day not charged because the wire that came with the phone decided not to work anymore.

thanks! it was actually exactly what happened. I guess the wire is frayed on the inside because it wouldn't work at some angles.

Heating problem

Last night I've put my phone to charge until morning, and I've put the phone under a pillow because I have a one person bed and I don't want to hit it with my legs. In the morning, when I took the phone out....
The phone was extremely HOT! And I know where the parts are in this phone, and not the motherboard heatead up so much, the battery! I was so scared because this thing could explode in my hands or could've exploded last night.
Also, when I saw the phone the notification led was blinking blue, but after cooling the phone I couldn't see any notification. Is that a alert or something to say that your phone is hot?
I don't want to have a "note 7" clone when charging in my house.
I have this phone for just 6 months. Also the battery right now drops percent like per minute, really weak.
Does anyone had this problem too?
Here are screenshots:
Also, I am not using original charger because was too slow. I am using an 5V 2A charger. Now my battery stays at "normal" at 40C°
Is that normal?

I have found this in my manual. I will keep my eyes all day on my phone and will see if I will go to the service or not.
But I have bootloader unlocked, the phone was disassembled before, the water indicator is red, so I'm going to have to pay.
It happened to me. One thing I noticed that my phone was in wake lock. It never happened to me again. I think I was using LOS 14 at that time.

Every phone has heating problems. Few days ago i readed some articles and that stated: consumers should remove the custom cases when charging the phone. Do not keep your phone while charging on surfaces that stores heat (eg. your pillow), and try to not keep your phone on charge overnight. Even if its at 35-45% you should leave it so and wake up 30 min earlier every morning and charge again if you need more battery. 100% charge its not a good idea.
Remember you cant change battery easy, removing the back case its a pain, try to take care of your device, or you gonna buy a new phone soon

Of course not......You are using 2A charger.....It would obviously heat your device up
and yes ......2 A charger won't help with speeding up charging it would burn your IC instead..Your phone won't take in more than 1 Amp thats a factory limit and can't be unlocked without a custom kernel but still it's not safe.. Don't use that charger .....It's a placeboo that it charges faster ?
