Is the Cyanogenmod 7.0.0 contact app the AOSP contact app or has it been modified at all? I notice it doesn't support entering birthday or relationship fields which I recall seeing before but I don't recall if it's specific to an OEM dialer or maybe 2.2 AOSP.
Are there any Android apps that provide full compatibility with the Google Contacts manager (eg. support for custom fields, not just custom labels)?
Thanks.

I have all my contacts on google and they sync with my i9000 including the pictures and numbers and everything else. My contacts are organized in groups in google. The problem is: These group names do not show up on the phone.
I think I found out why: Because of Samsung's faulty implementation of the contacts app.
Check it like this:
Create a new group called 'test' in GMail and put a new contact in it. Wait for the sync. Now the contact quite surely _is_ on the phone.
Now try to create a group on the phone with the name 'test'.
==> Not possible, error says "Group name already in use".
The other way round does not work either. If you create a group on the phone, it's not synced to GMail, because the grouping function seems limited to the phone.
I found out that, using other Android phones, you can select "sync groups" in your google sync preferences. This is just not implemented on the i9000.
I'm really wondering why on earth Samsung did this.
Any ideas how this could be solved?
I tried aContacts, but it's more a workaround than a solution.
Can we replace the Samsung contacts app with the stock Android one?
This seems to be a Samsung related issue according to other threats on the website. Indeed very anoying. I'm hoping on a fix from Samsung here very soon as well!
syncing groups?!
Mine doesn't offer that option. The gmail contact shows up in my contacts, but there is no group information attached. SUCK

I have one reason not to use CM7:
The ZTE Dialer, which displays my contact groups, based on those Google contacts tagged as "My Contacts".
Without the dialer, I only know the apps Go and Youlu, which display contact groups. But they display filtered groups based on ALL my 1000 Google contacts, causing great confusion. I only want the selected (tagged as My contacts) ca 200 contacts from Google to display on the phone, divided in the groups, thus about 10-20 contacts per group, perfect for my daily phone use. And only the ZTE stock dialer does that, as far as I know.
I don't think there is any other solution except for the ZTE stock dialer.
3 days ago the official ZTE 2.3.5 Bin was released. Since yesterday there is an Elitemovil ROM based on it here on XDA. I will probably try it out, it seems to be perfect for my need. But first I wonder, is there any chance to extract the ZTE dialer from this ROM, in order to install it on CM7 via Clockwork? Or will this break something. It would be really nice to have an optional ZTE dialer for CM.

Running Quarx CM10 - 0409
Previous versions of CM7 and I believe CM9 had an option of only displaying contacts that have a phone number (eg dont show those contacts that just have an email address)
Its missing in the latest version - is it a CM mod or a standard JB exclusion?
Because the phone is synced to gmail, there are a lot of contacts that dont need to be displayed. They can be edited into groups to sort that problem, but the other way was faster and cleaner.
Is it just missing or did I not find it?
Moved to Q&A. Please ask all questions there, thanks.

In contacts options: "show contacts with phone numbers only"
Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to add (with a mod or an app from the play store) to the contacts application in the AOSP stock the little icons aside the name of each contact (like in the Samsung stock rom - image in attachment)
I find this feature very useful to know instantly what kind of information I have for each person in my contacts. Is there a way to add this touchwiz-like function to the contacts in the GE rom?
Thanks for your suggestions and help.
Hello all,
one of my app's users uses an good old Defy running 2.2 stock. Android compatibility with this old version is made up by the SDK's support library, so my app is running fine on an 2.2 emulator and other real devices user reported (e.g. HTC Wildfire S, 2.2).
In my app I am using an authenticator (Android account management) with an account creation activity, that is called by adding an account through Android's account management. This is the normal way every app uses to create accounts.
However, on the defy, the user cannot an account for my app. The Account type is selectable in the list, but nothing happens after tapping (or long/multi tapping) on this entry. This also happens for "Viber", the user reported.
Is this a known flaw in Defy's 2.2 stock? Do you have any ideas for a solution?
Maybe I can get a full logcat from the user's device soon.
Any help would be nice! Thanks!
