Possible to install apps to microSD? - Xperia Arc General

Hi! all. After unlocking the bootloader, is it possible to install apps to the microSD? the internal memory is only 300+mb. don't think its enough to store the apps. any advice? considering buying this phone once its able to do this.

Yes you can as before!

You can do it anyway (only supported apps though). Go to Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> On SD card (tab). If it has a tick next to it, then it's already on SDCard.

Thx for your reply. But i was thinking of installing all apps not just some. cause previously on Froyo 2.2 i was using a Desire & after rooting & installing custom rom then was i able to install all apps to the microSD. Otherwise if without root, only if the apps support SD card install then can i install on it.

Is there any way to install Apps into SD card instead of phone memory?

I am running Darkstone Android. I would like to install all my apps onto the SD card instead of the phone memory. Is there any way to do that?
Thanks
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select the app you want to move > Move to SD card. If you can it'll be available, otherwise it won't

Looking for an App where I can manage my Apps to SD (Froyo version)

I'm looking for an app where I can manage which apps go on sd/phone, I tried Apps 2 SD and Move 2 SD and they both don't show the apps that are not supported by the froyo apps2sd (which I forced to sd with mod install location).
Anyone know any good apps?

Hi All,
After rooted the device using SuperOneCLick v1.6.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
I installed the Move2SD enabled and managed to move the installed application to SD card.
Steps:
- Root your S5830
- Installed Move2SD enabled
- Launch Move2SD enabled and set the install path to 'External'
- Goto Settings > Applications > Manage applications to move those applciation that you want to move to SD card.
i have tested this method with my s5830 and it works...
How about using an ext3 partition for the phone to use upon boot? Anyone tried Darktremor's app2sd?
I tried with my Galaxy Ace, but after I set Move2SD I'm not allowed whether to move apps to my SD card or to do something different from uninstall the apps as all the options are disabled in the "Manage applications" panel !
Any idea of what I got wrong?

I have rooted and installed Move2SD enabler. But, when I checked external & wanted to apply it, it said that "Sorry, unable to change the default install location". How to solve this problem?
Is the problem only on my Galaxy Ace S5830 or this is the software problem? Could you help me?
Thanks.

Yes those above methods aren't quite helpful. Try Link2SD, it'll surely free your internal storage as it shifts the entire app data as well as library files and dalvik cache to SD. I use the same. =)

Thank you, it work
I thought SG Ace already had app2sd..(enable by Froyo). Because after I installed any games.. I just use setting inside SETINGS/APPLICATION/MANAGE APPLICATIONS and move to SD..
so what is the major different about Link2sd and Move2SD?
The Froyo way, Apps2SD or Move2SD Enabler still store the dex and library files needed for the application to run, on the internal storage. You will see your /data/dalvik-cache takes up the most space because of this. Whereas in Link2SD method, all of these files are physically stored on your SD card on a second partition which is mounted at boot. They are simply symbolic linked with the original locations.

Sadly Link2SD doesn't work on 2.3.3. There's an unresolved bug / uncompatibility issue and I don't know if/when the developer will come up.
I heard so, that's why I'm not upgrading to Gingerbread yet.
i've tried move2sd, first it work great but then i got this 'unable to install to sd' error when ever i tried to install apps. i have to unmount my sd card then i can install the apps, quite annoying to me, so i formatted my sd card and uninstall move2sd and the error is gone....
Well done !!
It works !! almost all the 3rd party applications run now from SD !
SAVE ME 30 MEGA pure rom memory AND SURVIVE MY GOOD HEALTHY !
Any help how to deal with all the provider rubbish and stinky applications to throw away from phone or moving into the the SD ?
THANK AGAIN
ALON

you can try simple2ext but this only works for CM roms. A caveat however. Most, if not all CM roms ported to the SGA are still at RC1 and not final yet. There is a bug which causes the phone to restart when market attempts to install a newly downloaded app. Appears to be CM related.
So you can choose to wait for the devs here to port CM7.1 final for SGA and then try your luck.

Unable to use microSD card for apps .... suggestions?

Hello, i recently come back to the "dark world" of Android purchasing the P9lite.
Nice specs, good bargain for the price.
Then i decided to put a microSD card into it, and with my usuall luck, it seems this feature (of a normal Android 6.0 Phone) is disabled.
Any suggestion / Help ?
Unfortunately, Android's compability with SD cards declines with every new version, no idea why though.
Your problem can be solved the easy way - if you are rooted that is.
If rooted, check this site for possible solutions:
http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-2...d-setting-card-default-download-location.html
However, normally Android 6.0 SHOULD be able to use the SD card as adoptable storage. I don't remember though if the P9 Lite asks you how to use the card on first insert. This method requires encrypting and formatting though. See here for info:
https://source.android.com/devices/storage/adoptable.html
I don't really have the problem because I only install few apps and no games whatsoever so the 16GB internal storage is enough for me.
Pictures and music are on my SD.
If you want to root, check the excellent guides here on the forum. Really takes you like 5 minutes with some basic knowledge

You can make your microSD your default storage location for all apps by changing in Settings:
Settings > Advanced Settings > Memory & Storage > Default Location > choose your microSD here
To my understanding, this will make all your apps (Whatsapp, Facebook, etc.) to use your microSD instead of Internal Storage.

Sorry i dont use sd card on my p9lite. But my phone is perfect except the signal issue
My old phone is ASUS zenfone 4, now im using huawei p9 lite. I wanted to transfer all my data n apps in asus to huawei. but it seems that i cant find the transfer data apps
how can i transfer all my data n apps to my new phone?
Is it possible to just install a custom ROM like CyanogenMod? I heard that this one supports this feature.
maybe nougat will fix this?
hopefully nougat will allow us to do this!!
Emui doesn't support adoptable storage and move apps on SD card. I think it's a marketing choice so they incentive users to upgrade to a better phone with more memory but that has an higher price.
I tried in the past to force adoptable storage with adb but without success, the only way it's to install a custom ROM based on CyanogenMod/LineageOS.

i think apps will be installed on sd this way, as the used internal storage doesn't increase much when installing apps.
Hello everyone, I've the same issue. I root my device in order to be able to move my apps to micro sd card and set it up as default storage. And now, it looks that's not so easy.
I've formated my micro sd (32Gb) on my PC with Mini Tools Partitions Wizard like this : First partition : Create as Primary ; File System : fat32 ; Cluster Size Default ; Partition Size 19000Mb. Second partition : Create as Primary ; File System Ext2 ; Cluster Size Default ; Partition size 11521.93 Mb. Then I apply modifications. I insert the microsd card in my device, I reboot (don't know if needed), I open Link2SD, I try to move the app Messenger to sd card and I get : Failure "Error: java.lang.illegalStateException:รข~fNo suitable external storage available". After that I touch on an other app "Messagerie" (Default app), and here I have the posibility to select 'Link to SD card, I try and I get the error : "Second partition not found, /dev/block/ : device not found, make sure you have two partitions on your SD card and both are primary."
In the Link2SD settings, I can't select the option "Auto link" or open "Auto link settings" it's grey and disabled.
Has someone read any news about that since March ? The P 9 Lite is a great phone but 16 Go internal storage is to tight ! Thank you for your help.
I removed my sd card for taking pictures from lappi and when I again insert it my phone is not showing sd card pictures .perhaps sd card is working fine in other mobiles what should I do?
