issue with installing gb... please help - Droid X General

Once i get the update flashed to the sdcard, i start in recovery and run "apply sdcard:update.zip" and i get a error message "E:signature length doesn't match EOCD marker". Then it aborts. Why is this?

Because the file is not called update.zip and most likely not on the root of your SD card. Instead of apply update.zip, choose install zip from SD card and choose it yourself

I had to rename it update minus the .zip
& also take the zip file out of the download file & just place it on the sd
sent from the DX

its def in the root folder..

unzip and put it in the root folder? what do i run when i set it in recovery?

Are you using stock recovery or clockworkmod?

[Q] How to reload folder created by clockwork mod

I made a copy of the original ROM in a folder Clockworkmod created and moved it to my PC and upgraded the SD card. I tried copying the folder back and run Clockworkmod to restore my backup via recovery but it doesn't seem to take it.
There are some messages but it was too fast to read. How do I use the folder I copied to reflash back to the ROM I copied. Thoughts?

Use Rom Manager and select "Backup and Restore" select a prior back up. Then select wipe and install and rom manager will do the rest. If your getting a md5 mismatch error, if your renamed your backup file and have spaces in the title you will get the md5 mismatch error, just rename the file to a one word title.

I had to make a backup of my current first before I was able to find out which folder Clockworkmod was putting the backup ROM too. I'm already in the process of finishing the restore.

[Q]Update fixed Clockworkmod isn't working

Update fixed the SD was broken I don't exactly know why but it explains everything so thanks for all your help and sorry for not being very
clear.
Hi I'm having issues with clockworkmod.
See the problem is while trying to flash cyanogen mod I was getting the endless loop so I kept
at it until I managed to flash it. The problem is I flashed Cm6.1.0 so easy fix right? Well I thought so too until clockworkmod wouldn't find the zip. So I tried nandroid and it again couldn't find any zip so I checked the partitions menu and clockworkmod had mounted the
Sd card and the cache. So I unmounted both and still nothing so I looked at the setting's again and it remounts the cache and sometimes the Sd card. Well my problem is worsened by
the fact that the version of cyanogen mod that did flash doesn't have the market or flash.
Any help will be welcome. HTC aria.

With CM 6, the Market is in the GoogleApps zip which must be installed after the ROM.
Also Flash 10.x does not run on the Aria; the CPU is not supported by Adobe.
Well clockworkmod won't find any zip not even nandroid and so my problem deepens so now can't get the market crap.

Some of your terminology in your post is very confusing. First of all, ClockworkMod will only find ZIP files that are copied to the root directory of your SD card. If you copied them to a folder on your SD card, CWM will not find them.
Second, Nandroid is a backup and restore utility and it does not use ZIP files. It creates backup folders on the SD card under /clockworkmod/backup and contains image files of the various partitions on your phone.
So what is the exact state of your phone? You stated that you have flashed CM 6.1? If you boot your phone normally, does CM 6 start up and are you able to use your phone? In order to install gapps.zip file to get the Market app, copy the gapps.zip file to the root of your SD card and see if ClockworkMod can install it. BTW, in CWM you are select "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard", right?

Thanks for correcting my misinformation. I guess the root location only applies to "update.zip", right?
Yup. And it actually must be named "update.zip"
Oh crap I just formated the boot partition and now my phone won't boot at all!
It still won't find any zip. What now? Is there any way to restore clockworkmod?

Are you copying the zip files from your PC to the sd card? Have you tried downloading a ROM zip file directly to your SD card using your phone's browser?
I have exactly the same problem...Clockwork will not see any .zip files....even tried mounting usb storage from cwm, it mounts and the zips are there, yet it can not find any of them when i try to find them (all are in the root of the sdcard)...any ideas?
So if you pick "choose zip from SD" you can't manually pick a zip?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Found a solution:
1. Get SD card formatter from HERE
2. Plugin your phone (as USB drive), start up the application and format the card (default options selected) NOTE: backup your SD card to your PC first (obviously)
3. Unplug the phone (or put it into charge mod, whatever)
4. The phone should now try (and fail) to mount the card...go to the SD options and format the card using the phone function
The .zip files should now be visible in ClockworkMod Recovery (it worked for me and a few others as far as i know)

Instalinh 7z archive ROM

Hi,
I using first time flash from MAGLDR, usualy I use NAND ROM, so anybody can help?
I extract all 7z archive files to new folder.
Set in MAGLDR services sd boot directory and select AD SD Boot.
After that I only see costum ROM image and nothing happen...
I waited 2 hours and image is still here and nothing change...
Maybe I do something wrong?
Please help
Are you trying to install NAND, SD or NativeSD? If NAND, try the guide in my sig. If SD, just place the Android folder on the root of your SD card, set it as the AD SD Dir and boot into the AD SD option in MAGLDR. If NativeSD, then I can't help sorry.

In instructions says:
How to Install
Download the ROM
Unzip using 7zip
Copy ANDROID + MIUI folders to the root of your SD card
If you are on Windows Mobile (haret) - use the rootfs+startup.txt from "_JaguarMIUI-VXX -HARET-" (UNZIP FIRST) then Click CLRCAD + HaReT
If you are on MAGLDR, Copy both files from "_JaguarMIUI-VXX MAGLDR" to you ROM FOLDER (UNZIP FIRST) then start the ROM....
First boot takes 5-10min ( Building 1 GB data.img )
Restart ( Please do It )

ANDROID + MIUI folders to the root of your SD card?
I extract all archive in one folder. What is MIUI folder? There is no folder with this name.
If you are on MAGLDR, Copy both files from "_JaguarMIUI-VXX MAGLDR" to you ROM FOLDER (UNZIP FIRST) then start the ROM....
I don't understand this part clearly..?
I'd agree with you, that guide is very confusing.
This is how I'd do it:
1. Download the latest version of the ROM
2. Unzip in 7Zip
3. Keep going into the folders until you see a bunch of files, including Haret and clrcad. Then go UP/BACK 1 folder so that you have a folder which can be copied to your SD card, and directly inside this folder are the files needed. Normally this folder will be called something like 'Android' or 'MIUI'.
4. Copy that folder to the ROOT of your SD card (so, for example, if the folder is called 'Android' the directory should be /Android)
5. Boot into MAGLDR
6. Go to Services>Boot Settings>AD SD Dir and set the AD SD Dir to be the same as the folder you copied
7. Go back to the MAGLDR menu and select 'Boot AD SD'.
I've tried to be as general as possible with these instructions, because I don't know what's actually in the zip. Hopefully you should be able to follow them. If not, then can you describe in more detail what's inside the zip and I'll be able to give you much clearer instructions.

Thanx for this guide! I will try when I return to home, and I will write what happened.

i messed up build.prop file on note3 and is not booting up.

I did sift reset but didnot worked. he samsung kies is not detecting my phone, when connected. can you please help me? I think i have access to SD card only ( i mean any boot up from SD card can help, i guess)
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section. You will need to register on XDA to respond to any replies you get.
Good luck!
There are a few ways to make your phone boot:
1. If you have knowledge of ADB pull the build.prop from your device onto your desktop and edit it.
2. Re flash stock ROM.
3. If you have TWRP recovery, just pull the build.prop from any Touchwiz based rom zip and put on your SD card, then move it to /system/.

Oh, looks like you have stock recovery. You need to flash a custom recovery before you can install ROM zips.

Put the OOS rom in the root directory of your sdcard (not in a subfolder), then boot into recovery and choose install from internal storage. After flashing the rom do a data factory reset and you should be good to go. Don`t know for sure if you have to unlock the bootloader first because its a Chinese device.

The doubt is I really don't know if the correct (FULL OXYGEN ROM) file to copy is a zip file or any other extension file? I downloaded on website, inside it has some folders and some IMG and DAT files.
when you said SD CARD you mean put the zip file inside a REAL SD CARD? or you mean the internal storage on the phone?
i have copied the downloaded zip file on internal storage root, and when I made a boot recovery and chosen the internal storage it finds the zip file but again when I proceed the installation it gives me again the INSTALLATION FAILED MSG..
does the OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_010_all_1707032122_2a134296766a4804.zip on one plus site?
is that the correct file? thks

I meant the internal storage as there is no actual sdcard slot. and yes this OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_010_all_1707032122_2a134296766a4804.zip is the correct file. Do not extract the rom.zip! As i said maybe you have to unlock the bootloader first in order to flash the rom but that is not the case as i read. So put the downloaded OTA.zip on the sdcard, wipe cache and flash it in recovery in install from internal storag and the factory reset. There are several video`s on YouTube on how to do it https://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=...LyJ4Ho&usg=AFQjCNEFn7t35Gdh9Vzxxwfe4oBMs4EH_Q.
