Help to Switch from Hydrogen to Oxygen on Oneplus 5 Chinese Version - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hi friend, im a noob here, I need some help
I bought Oneplus 5 Chinese version with Hydrogen Os.
I follow all steps, download the full oxygen rom + OTA on 3 different links and downloaded the adb and minimal fastboot.
i made all steps doing the developer android activation on OS, usb debugging and etc.
i booted it on recovery chosen adb installation and made all prompt commands, when it start to install it failed on 0% and the phone gives me the Installation Failed note, I need to know if the correct rom is that folder or zip that I download on one plus site. when I copy the *.zip or folder to internal storage on the phone it doesn't recognize on that system update menu with local update. I have tried many times and with different forms, what I did wrong?
sorry my bad English because im from Brazil.. thks!

Put the OOS rom in the root directory of your sdcard (not in a subfolder), then boot into recovery and choose install from internal storage. After flashing the rom do a data factory reset and you should be good to go. Don`t know for sure if you have to unlock the bootloader first because its a Chinese device.

The doubt is I really don't know if the correct (FULL OXYGEN ROM) file to copy is a zip file or any other extension file? I downloaded on website, inside it has some folders and some IMG and DAT files.
when you said SD CARD you mean put the zip file inside a REAL SD CARD? or you mean the internal storage on the phone?
i have copied the downloaded zip file on internal storage root, and when I made a boot recovery and chosen the internal storage it finds the zip file but again when I proceed the installation it gives me again the INSTALLATION FAILED MSG..
does the OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_010_all_1707032122_2a134296766a4804.zip on one plus site?
is that the correct file? thks

I meant the internal storage as there is no actual sdcard slot. and yes this OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_010_all_1707032122_2a134296766a4804.zip is the correct file. Do not extract the rom.zip! As i said maybe you have to unlock the bootloader first in order to flash the rom but that is not the case as i read. So put the downloaded OTA.zip on the sdcard, wipe cache and flash it in recovery in install from internal storag and the factory reset. There are several video`s on YouTube on how to do it https://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=...LyJ4Ho&usg=AFQjCNEFn7t35Gdh9Vzxxwfe4oBMs4EH_Q.

[Q]Update fixed Clockworkmod isn't working

Update fixed the SD was broken I don't exactly know why but it explains everything so thanks for all your help and sorry for not being very
clear.
Hi I'm having issues with clockworkmod.
See the problem is while trying to flash cyanogen mod I was getting the endless loop so I kept
at it until I managed to flash it. The problem is I flashed Cm6.1.0 so easy fix right? Well I thought so too until clockworkmod wouldn't find the zip. So I tried nandroid and it again couldn't find any zip so I checked the partitions menu and clockworkmod had mounted the
Sd card and the cache. So I unmounted both and still nothing so I looked at the setting's again and it remounts the cache and sometimes the Sd card. Well my problem is worsened by
the fact that the version of cyanogen mod that did flash doesn't have the market or flash.
Any help will be welcome. HTC aria.

With CM 6, the Market is in the GoogleApps zip which must be installed after the ROM.
Also Flash 10.x does not run on the Aria; the CPU is not supported by Adobe.
Well clockworkmod won't find any zip not even nandroid and so my problem deepens so now can't get the market crap.

Some of your terminology in your post is very confusing. First of all, ClockworkMod will only find ZIP files that are copied to the root directory of your SD card. If you copied them to a folder on your SD card, CWM will not find them.
Second, Nandroid is a backup and restore utility and it does not use ZIP files. It creates backup folders on the SD card under /clockworkmod/backup and contains image files of the various partitions on your phone.
So what is the exact state of your phone? You stated that you have flashed CM 6.1? If you boot your phone normally, does CM 6 start up and are you able to use your phone? In order to install gapps.zip file to get the Market app, copy the gapps.zip file to the root of your SD card and see if ClockworkMod can install it. BTW, in CWM you are select "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard", right?

Thanks for correcting my misinformation. I guess the root location only applies to "update.zip", right?
Yup. And it actually must be named "update.zip"
Oh crap I just formated the boot partition and now my phone won't boot at all!
It still won't find any zip. What now? Is there any way to restore clockworkmod?

Are you copying the zip files from your PC to the sd card? Have you tried downloading a ROM zip file directly to your SD card using your phone's browser?
I have exactly the same problem...Clockwork will not see any .zip files....even tried mounting usb storage from cwm, it mounts and the zips are there, yet it can not find any of them when i try to find them (all are in the root of the sdcard)...any ideas?
So if you pick "choose zip from SD" you can't manually pick a zip?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Found a solution:
1. Get SD card formatter from HERE
2. Plugin your phone (as USB drive), start up the application and format the card (default options selected) NOTE: backup your SD card to your PC first (obviously)
3. Unplug the phone (or put it into charge mod, whatever)
4. The phone should now try (and fail) to mount the card...go to the SD options and format the card using the phone function
The .zip files should now be visible in ClockworkMod Recovery (it worked for me and a few others as far as i know)

Huawei u8800 MEGA PROBLEM!

Ok guys, so here is the deal
The phone was rooted and Oxygen ROM installed, but it has a major problem: The USB Mass Storage DOES NOT WORK! And the android market keeps closing(Force Close).
To install another ROM, you need to put files on your internal memory(the zip with the rom), but since the USB Mass Storage does not work, it seems "impossible".
You can't download files to the phone's internal memory, it asks for and SD Card.
Already tried putting the zip on external SD Card and then using ES File Explorer move it to Phone, but a message pops up saying that the file cannot be moved.
So the question is how to install another rom, or at least fix the USB Mass Storage problem. Is it possible to use external SD Card files on Clockwork Recovery like "install zip form SD Card"?
Also the internal memory and RAM capacity are not being shown correctly.
Thanks in advance!
dude it simple , if ur usb mode i not detected then take out the memory card and use a memory card reader to put other rom zip , if u dont have card reader then put the card in some other mobile fone use it to put the files . problem solved
It does read the external SD Card, but there is no option in ClockWork Recovery to install a zip from an external SD Card...
If you have oxygen installed, then you have the custom recovery image, which definately have an option to install zip from sdcard.

Tried through ROM manager, comes up with an error
SD Card marker not found...
Error verfying extendedcommand
And when you chose "Install Zip From SD Card", it goes to phone memory, which is kinda locked, cus you can still install the oxygen rom that's in there, but cannot place new files, already tried through ES Explorer(it fails).
Any suggestions?
I have the exact same problem, a solution I read somewhere is rebooting into recovery mode, and then go to "mounts and storage". There mount sdcard and usb storage.
Didn't work for me though, it gives "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (no such file or directory)
edit: it's your lucky day, I just solved it after 3 hours of work ;D
what I did was:
- Go to recovery mode
- installed adb drivers (can't post URL because of not having 8 posts, i'll pm them if you want)
- put the cyanogenmod zip in the adb folder (for me "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools"
-opened up a command prompt and typed "adb push cgm.zip /sdcard
-then I installed from zip. phew!

CustomRom without SDCard

Hi,
I don't have an sdcard and I like to flash my S5 with a custom rom.
Do you think thats possible and how?
Thanks
Fritte
Yes it is possible. Just do standard procedure by following instructions provided
Quite a few ROMs don't require you to have a SD card to install a custom ROM. Read the directions in the custom ROM threads and go from there.

It may be a problem if you have to do a data factory reset before the flash, you can push a rom after the reset with adb though in recovery. Just buy a sdcard, you can also store CWM backups on the card then wich saves internal storage space.
My S5 gave me in recovery mode only access to an folder called "SDCARD", I can't browse my file system, even if I don't do the factory reset. I will buy an SDCard but the will deliver the next week, so in the mean time I have a bit time to give it a try.
You didn't give us a detailed description, so it's impossible to be certain. But likely what you describe is normal i.e. you would need root permissions to browse the SD card file system. It sounds like you looking through the directory without root permissions and the OS therefore restricts you to a base folder there.

I rooted the device, than I copy the zip file from the custom rom and the google apps to the root folder of the device. I will try again. Is there any specific folder which I sould use for this?
But I use SuperSU for the root access is that maybe an issue?
For the purposes of installing a custom ROM from the SD card, the zip file can be in any directory. It is perhaps easiest to subsequently find it if you use the root directory.
.

i messed up build.prop file on note3 and is not booting up.

I did sift reset but didnot worked. he samsung kies is not detecting my phone, when connected. can you please help me? I think i have access to SD card only ( i mean any boot up from SD card can help, i guess)
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section. You will need to register on XDA to respond to any replies you get.
Good luck!
There are a few ways to make your phone boot:
1. If you have knowledge of ADB pull the build.prop from your device onto your desktop and edit it.
2. Re flash stock ROM.
3. If you have TWRP recovery, just pull the build.prop from any Touchwiz based rom zip and put on your SD card, then move it to /system/.

Oh, looks like you have stock recovery. You need to flash a custom recovery before you can install ROM zips.

Advice

I need some help with my Elsa. I soft bricked it about a 9 days ago while I was installing gapps on top of lineage OS 14.1. I had rooted using Cow mid January , 17.
Using fat I resized, formated, wiped ----system, data, cache--- partitions. Then I formated Dev/Art in F2FS which resulted in some very interesting stuff. Now that I've gotten TWRP back on it ( or helped it revive ) through fastboot.
File system looks good.

Is there any cmds, coding, prompts.... etc.... i can run in the twrp terminal to gather more information to the condition of the device?
No stock. No roms. Nothing except Android I think
A clean blank state?
The device Had full SElinux and MTP this whole time it was bricked

if you have twrp, the flash a rom for your device via twrp and let it boot.
typically will reboot 2x and take 10-15 min from start to finish 1st boot.
if you have twrp you just need to flash a rom,
make sure you do a full wipe, and a format data prior to installing your rom.
Please stop re-posting new threads, your making this harder for any dev to help as you've now made 3 posts for the 1 device you have, and the 1 issue.

I'm sorry.
It's just been hard. I'm reading and trying to do my homework on this issue from LG UP to boot img. Recovery img. And system img. Having issues with adb seeing device to Windows drivers not being correct.
Now that I've got twrp functioning again on the device along with adb... I've got the KDZ file which I have extracted to produce a system.img file. I have no boot or recovery img though. I've put all extracted files into my platform tools folder. I don't know what to do now. I don't want to mess this up. Help me get this correct

if you have twrp you dont need a system.img recovery.img or a boot.img
you just need to go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/rom-natf-1-00-test-5-debloated-stock-t3509750
download the rom,
place on sd card and install it using twrp.

You can set the zips anywhere in internal.. But id recommend putting them on a sd card as they wont accidently get erased.
With his rom you dont need gaps.
Only aosp roms or aokp roms
Just choose wipe and do it 3 times
Then do advanced options in wipe and do format data
Once done go to install and choose the location where the rom was saved. Again a sd card eliminates side load. Mounting ywrp with mtp to move stuff etc. But if you have to use internal. Go to mount and mount mtp stoarge and use pc to drag zip to phone.
Should just need to install the rom and reboot. The link i sent you is for the stock rom you started with.. And some mod options. Just get it working with it and get the fine details done later..
But you just need to find the file under install and install the full zip. If its aroma it will let you personalize rom.
Just install the recommended zip from link and profit.
