Unroot & restore deleted Apps - Droid Incredible General

First would like to say hello to all XDA members.
I have a rooted Dinc. I deleted a few bloat apps. Before that I did a backup thru recovery (backup & restore) menu. If I restore will that restore all apps?
I would like to unroot and restore as to be ready for a OTA update. How will I get my DINC back to OEM?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Yes, restoring your backup would restore whatever apps you had at the time of the backup. However I really wouldn't be to worried about getting the ota considering it likely wont start coming out for another few months.

Make a nandroid backup. Flash the new rom. Goto advance restore in CWM and flash data

I believe they are talking about booting into CWM and there is an option to make a backup. So flash your rom and then restore with your backup.
yup, "nandroid" backup is the backup option within clockwork recovery, its a full backup of your phone. flash a new rom, then boot to clockwork and do backup and restore > advanced > select your backup > restore data. voila
Thanks for the replies. I wish I had realized this 2 months ago when I started flashing ROMS, I could've had an extra 20hrs to my life.lol I always backup thru clockwork, just never checked under advanced restore.

If you're restoring with titanium backup try to only restore app and not app+data. The data part might conflict with the new FW as it's a higher build number.
Don't think it has anything to do with the posted .ftf file nor the method in updating.

I'm restoring using my backup root. Damnit.. I have so much data: (
Is there any way to bypass ?

If you're restoring data from a nandroid i would then flash the doomlord kernel that matches the FW build on the nandroid. Then i would restore the nandroid and then download titanium backup and do a back up with that. Then upgrade to the state where you are now and use the TB to restore apps without data
Regards Dousan...
e: Just reread your post and saw that I missed the app you are using to restore. In that case it would be helpfull if you had a recent nandroid. Afaik My backup root can only restore one way and that's app+data at once and nothing else.
e2: You could do the above, flash kernel and firmware that matches your backup from my backup root. When flashed then restore the backup from my backup root and then download TB and do a backup with that. Then return to current state you have at the moment and restore with TB using only app option when doing so.
So I don't get any data -_-?
Edit, wrong, myroot does it threeway

Yes without data or atleast do one at a time to check if it FC's.
Edited my post above.

So I don't get any data back? I have both tb and myroot. I use my root because I don't have tbpro to restore all at once
No data? Boooo...

Hey there is no data conflict, that's for sure.
I flashed the ftf file with the "Wipe user data" option UNCHECKED. All my apps, data, contacts, messages remained as they were without any single conflict or FC anywhere.
Besides, I restored many apps via Titanium now and then. They worked fine.
-------
Maybe it's a problem with MyBackup root. try mybackup Pro.
OK I restored some data, and it worked fine
Strange...
I may not wipe user data next time....

I've used TB alot and have now and then encountered FC'ing when restoring both app+data when jumping build numbers in FW/custom roms.
Games from gameloft just acts weird at some points when restoring from TB with data aswell.
It still could be a data conflict as i've seen people upgrading the same custom roms on the same phones and some get that FC'ing when they don't wipe data and some don't and some get's it when restoring with app+data and then some don't. So it might still be worth restoring one at a time to see wich has a conflict.
Regards Dousan...
Am thinking of not wiping data and return to 233 and restore my vadass apps and data!

You mean we can flash the 2.3.4 ftf file even w/uncheck wipe user data, and all those apps will still work perfectly? Hmmm, seems like I will get this 2.3.4 now.. The reason why I don't flash is because of the restoring problem also, the last time I did that, it took me 3-4 days to download all data files again.. Maybe nextime I will just do a backup of the apk using mybackup root and I will just backup my sdcard files to my PC..
But oh, I will lose root since my BL is still locked, I will not be able to flash the rootxperia.. Maybe I'll just wait for OTA then.. Tsk..

[Q] Rooting Help

Is there anyway that I can root my nexus 7 and right after that, restore all my previous data back onto my device just like I had not done anything?
All I want to do is root so that I can just change the kernel I am running to get better performance but still maintain decent battery life.
I want to know if i can backup before I root and restore from that backup after I have rooted just so I don't have to lose my game data, pictures, etc.
Right now the way I have done it was just restoring from Google cloud where I still get all my apps back but not the app data.
I have been using Wugfresh's latest tool kit
Look up adb backup in Google. That's how I did it.

Thanks Gizmoe, I will look into this, it's just a pain to have to keep losing all of that important data every time I root or unroot.
Titanium backup works great but it is a catch 22 as it is for rooted devices,
Once rooted though you can use rootkeeper to temporarily unroot if you need to run one of the few apps that require it.

Backup on nexus 7 without root?

So I flash new ROMs on my phone constantly and I would never be able to bear being such a flash whore without titanium backup. I'd like to root my nexus but I keep reading it deletes everything and as dumb as it seems, I want to keep my Garfield data! I've read about nandroid backup but it does the same image right?
Is there a way to backup just apps+data like titanium backup without rooting it first? Or using a backup app without needing root access?

Stuck at Samsung logo

Hi all,
I was hoping someone could shed sime light to my situation. I have a rogers S4 and I rooted it via motochopper and it worked fine. Restored all my apps from Titanium backuoband all was well.
This morning my phone then got stuck at the samsung boot screen and I had to wipe data via the stock recovery to get iy working again...
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? This is thr 3rd time this has happened

My guess would be the titanium backup. As it can mess things up, once in a while.

I would blame TB mess ups more on old data being restored that causes problems, than TB itself.
OP... Are your app backups from a different ROM? If so, then I would try restoring without data. Or fresh app installs.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
are you restoring system apps? or just user apps? if you are restoring system apps or something like the messaging storage, will normally cause problems in TB.
best to just connect to wifi and download all the apps again from playstore.
What I would do is odin back to stock do not restore anything for a day or 2, and monitor it. If it never does it again, then it was your backup, keep in mind some apps that worked on the G3, may not work on the G4.
Yes, this is Titanium, it happenned to me too, remember that doing that is like copying everything in the C: Program Files of a PC, formating the computer and restoring that folder, it might work, but you might end up in a lot of trouble overtime since the OS installs different part everywhere. Use Carbon aka Helium, its a much cleaner way to go
I was restoring apps (with data) and the backups were from older ROMs I used in my nexus 4. I am currently trying a non-rooted method for a few days and see if this problem reoccurs

UPDATE: so far so good... My setup is currently unrooted and I haven't had this issue appear. I'm gonna root in a few days and monitor it again
