SD Card isn't working anymore after hard reset. - Focus General

I have a Kingston 16gb Class 4/6 (I forget) and it was working fin up til yesterday night. My phone was heating up, especially around the area of the SD card. And so I turned it off for a while, but then it was stilll heating up, so I took out the battery, and it hardreset. Now it says I only have a total 0f the default 7.4gb-8gb memory.
I've reformatted like... 5 times already, and nothing has been working interms of getting that memory back on.
This Focus is starting to get a lot more frustrating -__-
Please help!
Oh and even now, it's still heating up and all that.

I would definitely take that card out and reformat without it. Sounds scary. Not worth frying the phone.

Yeahhh I did. I'm hoping if I can get the card back to normal( I've read that either through a camera or a Symbian phone can reformat thecard to its normal pre-wp7 state) I can pop it back in. But actually... It seems as though my phone is a lot better
Without the sd card. Battery life is back to normal and it just feels like a much better phone in general. So I'm partially happy, still don't have my 22gb total anymore though

Android Overheating, temporary screen freeze.

Good morning,
I did a search for this topic but didn't find anything which could help so I thought I'd start a new thread and ask you guys.
I have installed the Desire version of Android and it runs fine apart from two issues.
The first is that when the phone is plugged in to either the wall charger or the PC it gets really hot. The heat is coming from the back of the phone but right at the bottom (not from the battery). It got so hot after around twenty minutes last night that I rebooted it into Windows just so I could charge my phone overnight. Windows has no similar issues, by the way.
The second thing is that sometimes the screen becomes unresponsive while running Android. This is mainly on the homescreen and you have to usually turn the screen off (stand-by) and switch it back on again to make it work.
If anyone can offer any solutions to either problem I'd very much appreciate it. If I've left anything out, let me know. It's nearly 7am and I'm barely thinking straight.
Many thanks.
i get the same heat issue whether its plugged in or not(its much worse when its plugged in though). this & the battery life are why i cant run android for more than a couple hours. im sure theyre related too. the heat scares me, i dont want anything to fry out. as soon as i boot back into windows it cools right down. i really hope this issue gets fixed soon.
yeah the problems you have are what some ppl have and to my knowledege they have not been fully solved yet. But its still a work in progress, just give it some time
I can deal with the overheating I turn the screen off for a while and its good.
What I can't deal with is THE CONSTANT FREEZING!
It's really starting to piss me off!!
I think its because of the class 4 SD card, I'll get a class 6 SD some time this month and I think that should help out A LOT!
i 100% using external charger with few batteries, so i've never realize the problem.
find a good task manager app from the marketplace and kill all apps that are running in the background. that cooled down the device quite a bit for me
i don't think so

i don't think so. mine is 8GB class 4.
I think it may be related to your radio and rom.
I am on claudyfa's 1.5 rom and 2.12.xx radio - you can give it a try
If I use a lot of apps in android, it gets really hot, like in win mo. but android is hotter
good luck
It's freakin beta. Secondly use set CPU and lower your clock speed. It save battery life also. As far as the freezing its a result of the beta nature of the roms

I got the same problem with MdJ Froyo HD 4.4
Is it a known issue now ? Can it be solved by anything ?
PS : Sorry if my message is not very understandable but I don't really speak english ^^

Evo rebooting

So has anyone found a fix for the rebooting issue?

My brother's kept doing it, fixing errors on the sd card seemed to help for a bit. So I fixed the errors, copied all the files off it, reformatted it and copied them back. Seems to be cooperating since then.

Just started doing it to me again so I don't know.
Interesting thing, brother got his replacement Evo (refurb) and he transferred over his same SD card and battery. Old phone giving problems was reporting the battery as fully charged, same battery put in new phone took an hour to fully charge. Maybe these boot loops are caused by low batteries and the phone is lying about the charge level?

PNY Class 10 microsd card in SGS2

I got a PNY 16gb class 10 microsd card from Play.com last week for my SGS2.
I've read on these forums that higher speed rated cards have different charateristics, i.e. trade off access time for throughput. SD tools confirmed very fast throughput (13MB write/24MB read) however after putting the card in and putting about 2gigs of content on it, the phone started to behave very strangely.
The phone would get very hot with no obvious activity and remain very hot with the battery running down very quickly. Sometimes randomly, but always being triggered by SD Tools (which would hang and have to be killed with task manager).
I had been suffering random reboots (about twice a week) before then, so to rule out a faulty phone I had it replaced for new at car phone warehouse.
However, the exact same behaviour with hot phone, battery running down alarmingly quickly happened with the new one. Only way to resolve was to pull the battery.
I've since swapped back to an old 8gb class 6, which while a tad slower (9MB write/19MB read) doesnt cause the phone to behave badly.
Maybe it´s the app and not the SD card......................

Galaxy S3 Battery without SDHC

So...like a number of S3 users out there, I was also pretty disappointed by the battery life...
Then, i initialized the device, using kies and did a factory reset...but this time, i didnt insert the 16 GB SDHC card in and used it without it for the first battery cycle....i was SHOCKED by the results i got!!
Good..right?
Now, im confused as wat to do now...cuz I have to use my SDHC...can anyone suggest why this happened?
P.S.My previous battery stats attached here...
i think its the media-server
put the card in and leave the phone alone,so the media-server can index the files on the sd-card

The card has been inserted for the past 5-6 months...I was always getting battery around this range..
Looks like you had the media-server bug. Media server wasn't letting your phone go in to deep sleep.
Put your SD card back in, take a backup, format it and then put your data back in.
That solved it for me.

[Q] Note 3 Overheating and Fast Battery Drain!?

Okay aside from me not having a computer to be able to develop on I still use my Note 3 and yes I am a flashaholic so I do continue to test other developers ROMs and find something that works for me. I am having some really bad battery drain issues on my Note 3 and it gets VERY hot.. i mean like really hot! First off let me say that I don't have warranty on it so i can't send it back to get another one. Whenever I use the phone for pretty much anything it starts to get hot and then battery drains like 20% every 20 min or so. I've tried flashing multiple ROMs and even using stock.. yeah STOCK. But each and everything that I have tried just doesn't help. I am at the point of like smashing my phone on the wall or something lol. Please if you guys have any suggestions please let me know. If i can't get this thing fixed then I will no longer be a Samsung Fanboy (that's a lie) lol. But thanks in advanced!

I had this problem with my old razr, it didn't get as hot as you say but the battery did drain really fast. If I were you I'd buy a new battery and see if you have the same problem. It's not uncommon to have a shot battery. Although, I'm not exactly sure what could be causing the overheating. You could possibly try putting it back to stock, calling Verizon and explaining to them that your battery is dying really fast and the indicator will jump percentages really fast. They may replace it...."may". Tell them you have done nothing to do it and have tried everything on the internet to fix it. What's the worst that can happen, they say no? Good luck man.

If you have an sd card installed, take a look at that first. Make sure there aren't any corrupted files on it.

Before I made this post I did some research and found that the sd card may be the problem. I have had it removed for around 2 weeks. I also took the sim card out and still nothing works. If Samsung doesn't send me another one then I will switch to Moto.
Running apps have a factory Mode running? That's what used to make my phone hot.
