With all of the free and paid launchers out their would you prefer the Samsung Epic come with or without Touchwiz framework.
Personally dont care for the launcher but I like the little things like the task manager which is light weight and the quick panel toggles and little things like that. They're not a deal breaker for me but they're nice to have. Also some of the apps tied around TW are really nice like the camara, video player and music app. Those actually might be the most important to me anyway. Just my 2 cents.

I like the fact when you have a AOSP Rom you can have more custom Roms and Kernals. AOSP rom can use the camera, music player and video player too. Plus you don't have to wait for Samsung to come out with the source code for updates. Since Samsung knows it own drivers they can make a pure google phone with full functionality. But hey if touchwiz is important to you then vote on it. Touch wiz has some benefits too.
I like the functionality tw adds(task manager, music controls in various places, codec support, etc), but I wish it was implemented better.

Doesn't the TW framework add cpu optimization and stuff? you mean the Touch Wiz launcher?
Realistically speaking I think they should load it up with TW, but give users an easy way to go ASOP if they choose. Personally the TouchWiz launcher is great for the average individual, its simple and clean ui.

I think they should have made the drivers independent of Touchwiz. Our developers have to rewrite all the drivers just so we can get an AOSP rom to work, I think this is non-sense. It also makes the samsung epic the last to get updates. On one hand we like the cpu optimization but one the other hand we complain when the when it takes 3 to 4 months later to get updates. We can have it both ways. If you like the cpu optimization then you should expect the updates to take longer you should also expect incompatibly as well.
only thing i like about tw is the camera.. which i can get over, i dislike anything that isnt pure google....i miss my OG droid..
I miss one thing about touchwiz, and that's dragging my finger across a text convo and automaticly calling them. The Nexus S is the finest phone I've ever owned, I will never buy another phone that isn't 100 percent Google.

I don't think I can live without the adjustable brightness bar at the top.
I'm looking forward to official gb release to have tw again. I actually find myself missing it.
I just want a "new and improved EPIC"
I'd prefer it without TW. I think it looks gawdy.
Lack of customization, and it not being a "sense-quality" launcher, I'll stick to Launcher Pro until I find something better. ADW, GoLauncher, arc launcher, even dell stage I've tried, launcher pro beats everything.
Another vote for launcher pro. Best launcher out there.

Are the widgets in the pulldown notification area part of TouchWiz? If so, I'd prefer touchwiz.
Don't really care what they put on. I'll ****-can it immediately for go launcher

We aren't talking about launchers people...we're talking about the true touchwiz, the deep down stuff that adds functionality to the device.

Guys think about it, it would be a new phone meaning it would come with TW4, and I don't know about you guys but it looks pretty sexy.
I'm using the TW4 launcher and icons and must say it's looking great.
And I'm sure the rest of TW4 on the SGS2 is amazing.
You've all seen the leaked images of the Within, right?
Oh the excitement.
I will never buy another phone with TouchWiz unless it already has official CM on it. Same goes for all other crappy UIs. Its either CM7+ or a Nexus from here on out.
Here, since so many of you are whining about it so much, do it here.
I don't hate it, just bored of all the comments.

I really don't know why you hate touchwiz. To be honest I like it and I'm using it since I bought my galaxy s2. I've tried out
Adw launcher and go launcher ex but every time I went back to touchwiz. Go launcher ex was quiet fine but it took more battery than touchwiz. Don't

guys , we always goin to have TW at ours samsung devices , at ICS at blla blla version , everytime TW will be there , so deal with it !
TouchWiz is a pretty good launcher. There is one thing that I don't like about it though; If I use another launcher, the TwLauncher itself, the animated wallpaper and all the widgets I have placed on it will load on boot and they will sync, even if I don't use the launcher. This causes battery drain and CPU load.
The only work around, I have fount, is to disable it with Autostarts. This is not an ideal solution because it requires root and may void warrenty.
There's maybe 1% of users hating TW, but there's no hate going on.
Probably you want to point to the "yuck, TW4 over ICS" threads.
We still like TW, but not in the current form. Old TW with the new ICS don't make a good marriage. Let's say that the current version is outdated.
Not a fan of Touchwiz myself, before I rooted I had no other option but to use it because other launchers gave me problems. I miss Launcher Pro and I even paid for that thing, but it killed my battery too son and it distorted your wallpaper when you rotated.
Now I'm happy with everything Cyanogenmod's giving me.

rule number 1 of changing launchers
remove everything from all screens of previous launcher. No quite sure why you would need to root your phone to perform such a simple task. If youre not using that launcher why are you keeping all your widgets on it?
TW best launcher, smoothest by far.
Grown fond of Touchwiz. Was previously a Sense user with HTC phones and didn't like TW, but i'm so used to it now.
So? why don't you tell this to samsung then? this isn't a confession threat..
get another launcher, problem solved..
Did any one maybe think that they're just using touch wiz in their build of ics just for testing purposes? To be honest if they would just let us change the theme or sort the damn app drawer etc I would be happy! However if go launcher enables hardware acceleration in the future I'll probably never use touch wiz anyway...that's the beauty of Android...we can choose
Sent from inside a black hole.
I just got my SGS2 2 weeks before. Previously I used an HTC Desire HD with Sense 3.5.
I don't hate TW, but I defenetly don't like it. Sense is just so much easier to use, and has many many good, new ideas. TW is very much iOS like, just like the SGS2 with the one physical button on the bottom. Keyboard and camera app is very good, but the dialer, message app, the lockscreen, the iOS like launcher and app drawer... I just don't like them.
Then there's the mounting. You plug an HTC to your PC and it offers to charge only, mount, usb theter your net, and you can make one default or you can get the screen every time. First time I tried to mount my SGS2 to my PC, I just couldn't find out, I had to search the net, how to do it! Samsung has so much to learn from HTC about software, and HTC should learn a lot about hardware from Samsung.
It's good to have this thread : ) I had to let it get out of myself
I think:
first of all, the "omg i hatez touch wiz" comments started going again when everybody saw the first leaked ICS rom from Samsung that had TW over ICS. While Im not sure, one of the biggest reasons people (and me included) hate it is that it makes your phone look almost the same as now. And people like to look at their phone and see "yes I haz the Ice Cream I haz the power today!!!" :>
At the moment for me, it's ICS Launcher > TW Launcher > everything else.
I made a ICS "wannabe" yesterday with Go Launcher and it looked good, except I still prefer TW launcher. The App drawer in TW is something I like, its simple and fast. Overall TW is simple and fast. Its just that since I have seen ICS, TW has fallen on the second place.
Just like a made the switch from HTC Sense to ASOP after about half a year on the HTC Desire, I think I will make the jump on the SGS2 to a good working ICS ASOP rom.
Hate it with a passion! Frezze it all the time .
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
used GO Launcher since day1. Maybe i was just used to it.
Hey PPL
On samsung galaxy s2 there is no other launcher smoother than touchwiz
I am bored of Touchwiz too but i keep coming back to it due to its smoothness.
The closer to touchwiz is QQLauncher Pro but most of its menus are in chinese
I hope samsung will update Touchwiz soon before releasing ICS.
Does anyone know what happened to Launcher PrO Why is it dead?
I know most of us hate touchwiz but there are a couple of things samsung's done better than Google, what do you like more in touchwiz than stock ics?
1. The quick notification toggles, I know ics has a quick access to settings in the notifications but its not quite the same
2. I like more the way you place widgets in touchwiz launcher, it resembles honeycomb, I dont know why Google got rid of it in ics
3. You have spell corrections for more than one language at the same time without having to switch keyboards
That's pretty much it, touchwiz icons, colors, dialer, contacts are pretty much... horrible
In my experience Touchwiz on my GS2 is faster and smoother than stock ICS on the Galaxy Nexus. Add a live wallpaper and its no competition, Nexus chokes and dies.
Touchwiz is pretty underrated tbh.

I'm currently using resurrection ICS custom with stock (nova) UI and I have to say that I kind of miss TW. I also think that is underrated, actually is a very nice launcher

How did you come to the conclusion "most of us hate touchwiz" is it because someone started a thread on here,i would estimate many more like TW than hate it, i think TW is brilliant, ive tried every other launcher and always come back to TW as it is smoother than any of the rest of them
I would never buy a phone that I couldn't get to vanilla android the skins are ridiculous. I'm on a galaxy nexus using nova (installed through cwm for the extra features) and find the experience to be my favorite so far on android without having to rom my phone. Its snappy and clean. You like touchwiz more power to you but skins always feel to me like what they are: window dressing on the experience I want.

I'll be gutted if Samsung ditch TW for the Galaxy S3 but i doubt they will they will just add some improvements and modifications, etc i have the TW 4G launcher with 5 docks on homescreen and it is fast and very smooth.
What Google try to do with ICS AOSP Launcher is to mimic TouchWiz features that we already had. (In the end, ICS launcher also was work cooperated with Samsung developers)
Seriously, people should get "another" Android 2.3 and see what TouchWiz bring... Even HTC sense feels really stoneage next to features of TouchWiz we don't realise until we loose them.
I love the responsiveness and the overall appearance, but there is a lot of wasted space and opportunity with TW.
Well...TW Launcher is purely Underated....if TW launcher can be modified a bit, it could be defenitely useful..i am using sensation ROM 2.0....TW launcher looks awsm in that!!
****wiz is not bad either..i only recently made the leap to Go Launcher and loving that to be honest..But still Touchwiz is pretty smooth, has good options and a good launcher all round....
Touchwiz 4.0 is the best launcher compared to motorola UI and sense 3.0 in my opinion. its not as heavy as sense and its a lot smoother than the motorola UI plus it has great features, its easy to use and works great. I love what they did when you long press the home screen to add widgets and wallpapers, i think it work really well. Sure sense is more eye candy but it eats every ressources that the phone has. So based on usability, smoothness and performance i think touchwiz 4.0 is king. If only htc would do a better job at optimizing it would probably number one. I do like stock ICS skin also, but again it isnt as smooth and well optimized as touchwiz is on the S2.

I hace read that exact sale thing so many times, the gs2 is faster than the galaxy nexus, but why? Ics is more optimized than gingerbread, maybe is because the exynos beats texas instruments?
There is only one thing that annoys me with touchwiz and that is you cant sort your apps alphabetically. Thank goodness there is an app called appzorter, pity its not working for ics yet. Well it wasnt the last time i looked al least.

Touchwizz is NOT only the launcher.. It's the whole samsung UI elements and features (smart dial, quick toggles, media codecs, etc etc).
The problem with touchwizz is the style, general UI. Take for example the dialer: very ugly. Or the big toggle icons in notification area (they can remove text and make smaller buttons). And the general UI experience is simply poor (compare section headers and subsection headers from TW with ICS, buttons, sliders, lists and so on).
What I want? TW with ICS flavour.
Eg: ICS dialer with smart dial, ICS contacs, ICS messeging, ICS launcher with fast page switching, media codecs, general UI elements from ICS (headers, buttons, sliders, list, etc), etc.
By switching the launchers doesn't solve the problem with touchwizz as many users write here as a solution to "get ride of TW".
Touchwizz is deeply integrated in Android framework and apps.
IMHO Touchwiz is very cool for peoples who don't want many extra settings or customisations. He's also very colorfull and simple to use.
After that, I must say that ICS stock launcher seems little "cold" in the other side. I mean, it's all Blue and White and the default ICS wallpaper are little too "cold" too, but it's surely the "ICS" touch.
The tastes and colours are in the nature, in term of performances TW is not so bad, it's just miss a little more features like customisation, etc...
If samsung removed their swipe grid-icons in the application drawer, then more people would love touchwiz.
... Im sure this is the reason why some people don't like it.
I like touchwiz, but I must admit - I'd love it to have a vertical application drawer with 3D roller effect as default.

That holds true for any OS/Software. The software/OS is judged mainly based on the UI/look, not on the functionality or efficiency.
Is there a good TW launcher for our N4 ? The one for the Gnex had some issues.
I've never seen a "Good" TW launcher for any device. Wasn't aware one existed.
you dont mean touchwiz right?, you have to get a sammy if you want that same with htc sense, no one will bother to port it since all their features are built into the framework

There is an amazing port for the galaxy nexus. Problem is that icons have a strange shade on the Nexus 4 when flashing the one from the gnex.
Also there is a "universal" one, ported from GS4, but isn't really compatible with our rez due to on screen buttons.
try the xperia z launcher. its really cool

So theres already almost every launcher available right now on any device, TouchWiz (Why you would want that is beyond me), the Xperia Launcher which is actually really sweet, and the LG G2 launcher has been added recently with an array of features, is there anyone that can port the Sense5 launcher from the HTC One, i know the widgets and things like that are part of the actual framework implemented by HTC so that prob wont work but apart from that is there a way to port over the base launcher atleast? Every other launcher can be done so why not Sense?
P.S. Please dont say why dont i just use nova/apex with a Sense theme or anything like that, they dont look as good, look out of place with different screen sizes and they dont work in the same way, it annoys me when people always say that :S

It needs the htcframework which is notoriously hard to port to other devices.

It's nearly impossible , tho some guys from s4 managed to port the whole system lol , you might wanna take a look if they could share the info how they did it , tho don't expect even if it gets ported it'll ever work , most of the stuff are and will be broken , mainly hardware related stuff.
