It's your choice mater and wrong forum. Do some reading and make your choice if you want it.
Personally loading WP7 to my HD2 is the best thing i ever did, surprisingly it feels very good to use.

good idea: flashing WP7 on your HD2 with dual-boot Android 2.3 off SD
bad idea: flashing a .51 radio on your tmous hd2

I've thought of doing the dual boot WP7 & Android, but I only have a 16GB SD card and running WP7 only I've used 10GB already and I'm not installing much waiting for nodo update.
What size do you have? And do you find any problems?
Cheers

Tnx, but no tnx... I will stay out with win phone 7, until someone made it bootable from SD card

I'm back with WM6.5 with Android on SD.
WP7 runs very well on the HD2, just not got the extreme flexibility of WM6.5
Wait for the NODO HD2 update, if it ever arrives that is...

I use a 4gb partition for WP7 and the rest for Android on my SD card, everything works perfect with no more needed space.

It's up to you. I've installed WP7 on my HD2 and love it. Sure, can't tweak the settings like in WM6.5, but now I have more time to do other things with my life than to constantly tweak my phone.
I'm finally getting my money's worth from my data plan. LOL
To reiterate...to each his own. And for those who don't want to install WP7, what are you doing in the WP7 forum bad mouthing the platform? Go and be happy with what you're running on your phone and leave the people who want to explore WP7 alone.

yeah I freaking LOVE WP7 Microsoft has something here. Excpet one bad thing....its Microsoft so you know how that works.. Needs Wifi tethering and different Mapped buttons like i have said a billion times I seriously doubt they will be able to change the map of the buttons..thats why HD2 never received a WP7 upgrade ...but whatever I'll continue to support it its excellent

Hey Xda Gang, what are the chances...

That when a stable android build is out for the HD2, it will be able ot run on the internal memory with NO windows mobile at all, and not kill the battery? i just wnat to make sure that i will not have to run the build of my sd card for ever.
i just would like all your opinions, cause i don't know weather to be patient and keep my hd2 or get something else...Just wondering what all your thoughts are..and when would you think a stable working full port would be?
thanks gang. Love this forum
Thanks DEVS! Great work on this!
no one??????
To be honest I think you'd be better off just getting an android phone if your looking to completely replace the os.......
You could be waiting a while otherwise.......

Really? that is what i feared...
what (IYHO) would be a "while"?
I wouldnt like to even guess at how long because my knowledge of the whole android thing is very small, its not really something that interests me to be honest......
From what Ive been reading the newer builds are coming on in leaps and bounds but at the end of the day the HD2 is built to be a WM device, android will never run as efficiently and as stable as it would on an android handset....
Of course its going be fun to play around with but I dont think it will ever be able to replace the original os........
It sounds like you'd probably be better off with a desire / evo.........

Well they have been going since March, it's now July and we are on alpha release. A month, two, three...? Who knows.
i wonder how "usable" it will be, and will there ever be a rom that works on the internal memory and not the memory card?

I should think it would be stable and you may well be able to flash it to the internal ROM, or at least have a dual boot option. Personally I have no interest in running Android on my HD2, despite tinkering with it already.
I have my eye on the 'Desire HD'.

I have never tried Android, but I do like WM 6.5.x a lot, but it's well on the way out now. I'll be gunning for an Android phone next I think, and the 'Desire HD' looks like it will fit the bill nicely.
When I was considering the HD2 or the Android, the main reason I chose the HD2 was because of WM6.5. Despite all the bad impression, WM is still fairly stable for me. Furthermore, you can only install apps onto Device Memory using Android. How many programs do you think you can get onto the Device Memory?
I have an 8gb card (standard issue) and I have no qualms installing a program and playing with it for a while, and don't need to worry about memory becoming too low...

wm7.. Yes I'm going there..

After reading a few articles about the HD3 coming out soon I was thinking about how nice it would be to have WM7 as stock ROM w/ Android on SD.
Don't shoot me but what are the chances of seeing this happen?
*ducks for cover*
I was thinking of the same thing the other day.
Where are you going to put the SD card? From what I've heard they're not coming out with a slot. That's why they got the large internal. Ill double check.

By that time, I'll buy new device with dual core.
Right now I'm rockin' WM, Android and Ubuntu, I'd prefer to just be able to add WM7 to the selection than be stuck with anything tbh.

WM sucks so much wish i new how much before I entered my contract. Least things are moving forward and wouldn't mind trying out WP7 or might even get out the credit card and get an Iphone 4 (Yep I said it)
Who wants to bet that Windows 7 will be ported on HD2 and we will be able to leave Android on it as well??? .... why... well HD2 is just best device on the market ...
Since cotulla got win ce7 booting off sd card on the hd2, when wp7 is ported, I bet we can boot that off sd also. Then we can have wm6.5, wp7, android, & ubuntu (and hopefully meego once they get the 3d working correctly on non-android linux!) all on one phone! Da_G mentioned cotulla was working on a haret-like loader for wp7.
It makes me wonder why people want android on nand so much when you can have a phone that does all that... A multiple os booting superphone or just another android phone?... I'll take the first option.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Agree I wouldn't mind trying out win7 just to compare it to 6.5 Guaratee Cotulla could get win7 on hd2. Nand sounds awesome. If I really had a choice I would pick win7 and android off sd card rather than nand. Beggers can't be choosers. I'm just grateful for all the work devs have done so far.
everybody says that winmo sucks, but without winmo we didn't have haret to boot ubuntu or android.
i havn't seen a phone with ubuntu stock

Cotulla is working with Da_G to get WP7 on the HD2 according to Da_G... I assume that's why he created a loader that could boot winCE7 off of a sd card. It sounds like the first steps to getting WP7 booting on the HD2.

windows phone 7 on hd2 for real

hey everyone
This has been a long time coming. Thanks to the unshakable versatility of the HTC HD2 (what other phone runs Windows Mobile, Android, MeeGo, Windows 95, and Ubuntu?) we finally have a working port of Windows Phone 7. As you will see, the port works quite well: everything works
hd2 is the coolest phone on earth

quick replies will be very much appreciated since i will be doing the upgrade later... thanks ya'll
BRAVO for the DFT but i'll never use it because win7 UI sucks
Does it work, lol

Indeed It does! Still prefer Android nonetheless, but will surely keep playing around with this for a day or so
I wonder if it will be possible to have an Android-WP7 dualboot option. I still think that WP7 is nowhere near as well developed as Android on the HD2, but I would love to try it when all the bugs and niggles have been sorted out.
Good news!! But where can download the wp7 system?

Sorry but what has this got to do with Android OS?
This should be in the HD2 ROM or General forum.
That is one ugly OS !!! I played with it for 1/2 day trying to force me to like it. No way.
I rather have Win 6.5.
W7 is really ugly, these large buttons on a white or black background, no menus, no choices, just few options.
I don't understand where's the hype
see the first post, anything is in the zip..
wowow!!
really great!!
It's REAL . I'm using it just right now it is very very fast very stable.
actually it is the fastest OS I've ever use.
It is even faster than android NAND more than like 10X.
I really recommend you to give it a shot.
I agree the OS itself needs a lot of improvement to be an interesting. but it has another advantages such as microsoft office.
Its definitely fast and stable, but the drawbacks are huge.
My first issue is that it wont connect to hidden wireless networks so it will eat up my data allowance as soon as I do anything.
Went back to Android.

[Q] Just got a HD2, where to start?

So, I just got a stock hd2 with winmo 6.5 and would like to install wp7 can somebody please explain how I can do this.
Android is better, but it's your mind.

First of all for new users, as i was a new user, i recommend read carefully about flashing your hd2, find all info here in xda, because you can really can mess up your phone. There is things that you can do, and you cannot. So be patient, and study how to flash everything, ant then start to do
like they say measure 9times before you cut...
To much trouble with win7... flash android the get a win7 launcher
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
WP7 is a lot of work in to install and you can have several issues related to battery life, SD card compatibility, and how even a compatible SD card can effect battery life. That said, I prefer WP7 to Android for aesthetic reasons.
The ROM is use is here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027
If you go this route, I recommend the 7004-7720 one-shot upgrade. The whole guide is in the second post, and there are other, more better explanations, to help the tutorial make sense. I had to use the those ones first.
When you succeed in installing WP7, you can also dual boot Android from SD. That comes with its own set of issues, as Android runs best from NAND.
So... which would you like to try first? So long as you flash HSPL correctly, and the correct radio, it's actually really hard to brick your device.
I must agree with everybody, beleave us... android vs windows is 3times more speed with any aplication, browsing, photos, music everything works more than 3xtimes faster... go with gingerbread android... trust me you will be suprised how fast it its...

I'm not sure that's a fully accurate statement, or there wouldn't be a bunch of us using WP7 on the HD2. It's just a bit more complicated to get going and can have major issues related to SD cards. Mine is quite fast. I very much prefer the UI to Android, but there are things I prefer Android over WP7 for.
Regardless, it's hard to brick the HD2, provided HSPL and correct radio are flashed. There's no reason to not try either and see which meets the OP's personal preference.

He's asking about WP7 and all you guys are doing is saying that Android is better/easier to install. That's not the point and doesn't answer the question. If you can't give feedback about the WP7 installation process, then why are you even posting here?
We all know that Android is "better", more versatile, easier to run. That's not even up for debate. So, why are you trying to convince him not to do something he wants to do. The HD2 is one of the most hackable phones around and it's hard to brick. Why not try WP7, Android, or both? Geesh!

[Q] some advice pls

hi guys.
So i have wp 7.5 nand and im kinda getting bored of it even though its stability is amazing(also speed) and i have android on my sd but all theses sd roms arent that satisfying so i am considering moving to android nand.
ive seen many nand roms that look amazing and my question is if i install nand on it will it be the same as a native android device (speed, stability,.battery etc...)
and do u think i should do that change?
if yes then please recommend some roms with eachs specialty
thanks
Note: i install many apps like 200+ thats why sd builds never agree with me, so also consider that(i have searched, watched videos but...)
thanks again

look around. No one answers these threads, especially when you ask for detailed analys of each roms specialities. ALL the roms are the best. If there were a best rom we'd all be using it.
As for android on band, yes its comparable to a real android device. Better than many, in fact.
Thx

If you have the US model, the NRG NAND is working well for me. It will not be as fast as the newest devices, but it is quite usable.

it took me well over a year to get my HD2 from WM6.5 to android, now im running a beta version of android 4.0.1 its great.
i suggest you really look into it to begin with, if you do decide to do it i would get the HTC HD2 TOOL Kit, and a CustomRUU from DFT to initially hack the device, these where the things that took me a few go's to figure it out, and youtube is great for advice

I have been trying 20+ roms. This one is pretty fast.
I install plenty apps, and this rom does not slow down. It is as fast as the wm rom.
Sense 2.1 looks old but it is perfect for our "older " phone. With this rom I have fully working Wi-Fi tethering. It is not build in the rom, but I can make it work

The second post of the NRG thread has a great explanation of how to install.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17584373&postcount=4
It really comes down to personal taste, between cm7, sense, aosp, etc...
But android has come along way on nand and in some cases outperforms alot of phones(this is a 2yr old device but still a beast ;-) ) but just try a few roms and choose one. Grab the hd2 toolkit for your system partions and cwm, and off you go!!
Good luck!
Ps. I personally use tyungs nexushd2 rom
Its just pure awesome gingerbread
