HDCP Error? - Xperia Arc General

Got My Arc today, I tried connecting the phone via the HDMI cable with a Sony Bravia LCD TV which is barely 2 months old. I got the following error.
HDCP error! This display does not support HDCP. Cannot show phone content on TV.
My display is HDCP compliant so what gives???

After several attempts of connecting the phone to the cable that was already connected to the back of my TV. I did the opposite. I connected the phone first then plugged it into the TV. It worked then!
I thought it's ridiculous that I have to move my TV to get to the HDMI port to use the device. Why should it matter which end of the cable is plugged in first???
Anyways, now it works either way

Strange I have a sony bravia I leave the cable plugged in then just attach my phone and it just syncs straight away no problems

Not sure if this will work on our Xplay... Try to not hype before a real confirmation.
EDIT: from another thread:

I think it doesn't work like that... you have to have the tech on your phone (Mobility DisplayPort (MYDP) digital interface) it then allows uncompressed video/audio from a phone over display-port and also allows usb transfer modes

sorry but all im reading is that it will use the micro-usb port to mirror the phones images onto a monitor/tv it doesnt say anything about having a certain technology i refuse to call dibs on this one alongside this " instead of needing an extra HDMI or MHL port. Analogix's secret sauce is on a chip embedded in the jack portion of the cable and because it's based on DisplayPort technology, it can connect using HDMI, VGA, or DVI connections"
It might be software based. Can never put anything past a software solution.
Do you think that TV out is just going to magicly work when you plug in USB LOL
FYI your usb port is never outputting video lol. you would have to run some type of program to do it and that will use CPU power
When have you ever plugged usb into your PC and a message comes up "Would you like to mirror image on your screen?"
You guys know the PSP actually had software written for it that allowed USB mirror to desktop and it lagged the device so badly most games weren't playable anymore
Why doesn't someone just try it out lol

PSP mirroring lag would be explained by the USB itself and the limited ram

Have you tried another HDMI cord or using the built in speaker connections? Personally I have had two bad HDMI cables in the last month that experienced similar issues. You might even try the optical output as well if you can. These still have a warranty. Contact Google for help.
i bought it from some guy that attended google IO. where can i get another cable? hdmi or something else
Any micro-hdmi cable will do.
I'm having the same issue though.
just tried the q on a different tv, worked right away....... my main living room big tv has only worked like 5 out of a billion tries

[q] mhl hdmi

Has anyone seen definitive proof that an MHL hdmi adapter will work with the Razr M? I guess I'll know for sure when my girlfriend picks hers up but thought I'd go ahead and ask becuase I'm bored as hell at work.
Not saying that this is final, but I just picked up an M this morning and tried plugging it in to my MHL adapter. Unfortunately, the TV continued to show no signal

Right there with you no HDMI though MHL just tested it a few minutes ago.
Thats too bad, if this phone had HDMI even if I had to use MHL and ICS webtop it would be perfect. Its the first phone in a while with a pocketable size screen and decent specs.
I don't use my phone for HDMI output so I have no experience with it. There was a thread on the motorola forum saying the device does support DLNA in response to similar questions. Not sure if that helps. I looked through Target and BestBuy, just curious, but didn't see any TVs that listed DLNA support.
Allot of Samsung internet TV had Dlna

Broken Slimport Adapter??

Hi all
I bought one of these from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Slimport-HDMI-adapter-Connect-projector/dp/B009UZBLSG/ref=cm_rdp_product however when I try to use it nothing happens
just wondering if anyone else has one of these, does the screen rotate to Landscape when you put just the adapter in (Not connected to a HDMI cable?)
I have tried it on a TV that has HDMI and as a long shot i tried it on my HDMI->DVI lead that connects my monitor to my PC - No go in both cases
Not sure at this stage if the adapter is broken, or my Phone isnt working.

out of stock. its gone that way for awhile, it goes OOS then comes back
No problem here. The screen doesn't rotate until the HDMI end is plugged in the TV.
How much are these selling for?
Tried it on 4 TVs now with lots of different HDMI cables and it doesnt seem to work, so that leaves either a faulty adapter or faulty Nexus 4!
(I am right in thinking its just plug and play, i dont need to enable anything on my N4?)

Correct. In my case it only rotates when I plug in the HDMI cable and it works beautifully. No issues whatsoever. I hope it's the adapter and not your phone!

I have one from the same source and it works like a charm via an 83p HDMI cable (similar source) to all 3 TV sets I've tried it with.
I bought one from Amazon here in the US, via http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009UZBLSG/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
got it Christmas eve, plugged into TV1 didn't work, thought it was my HDMI cable, tried it with TV2, worked right away. went back to TV1, didn't work, went back to TV2, didn't work. Reboot, didn't work, fiddled with the cable, worked for a few minutes, then stopped working.
Everytime I want to watch something, I spend about 15-20 minutes jiggling the adapter, unplugging, replugging the adapter to get it working again. 2 nights ago, I watched a movie, it worked, every minute or so it would give me a snow screen for half a second. Last night tried to watch another movie, spend 30 minutes with it, won't come on.
A friend has a N4 as well, going to go to his house tonight to see is it the adapter or my phone
edit: I went to my friend's home and tested it using his Xbox360 HDMI connection, neither his phone or my phone would display video, his TV simply said "no signal" I am sending it back to Amazon, and getting a full refund. Probably going to just grab a PTV3000 instead

Thanks for the feedback. I have been unable to get it to display any images.
I am sending it back to shipper for full refund. Only getting the refund because they cant provide me with a replacement at the moment.
Quite dissapointed that it didnt work Might have to look into Mirracast!
Does only the PTV3000 support Mirracast or will anything that supports intel Widi work? Such as this.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-ScreenCast-Adapter-Windows-Wireless/dp/B0061KCPF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357778497&sr=8-1

Any one know?
It has to be Miracast compliant to work with the Nexus 4. That Belkin thing will NOT work with the N4. The Belkin is WiDi not Miracast.
The only wireless adapters on the market currently that are tested and known to work (with beta software) are:
Netgear Push2TV PTV3000
Actiontec SBWD100KIT01 ScreenBeam Wireless Adapter/Kit
Both can be found on Amazon. The Netgear can also be found in some Best Buy stores.
(I own the Netgear one and can confirm from 1st hand, daily use, that it does work with the N4.)

Played couple games works great. YouTube great movies flawless. Apps look great.
Con battery drains fast and slim port doesn't charge nexus 4 .

Note you can hook up charger to SlimPort at top hole to charge phone great device must have if using phone to watch movies play music on TV with surround sound. Better then waisting time transferring mp3 to Xbox, Ps3 networked computer or wireless hard drive. Save your money if you are not looking to store music in hard drive.
Must have for Nexus 4.

The HTC One X uses an MHL adapter for tv-out.
The Nexus 5 uses a Slimport adapter.
They are not compatible, although they look similar.

Slow ouya.

I'm just posting this in case others are having this issue... When I got my backed out a it was slow on response and figured it was a wip and would get better...it never did...until I was at my friends showing them xbmc and decided to play ice rage and to my surprise it was buttery smooth....I figured the last update fixed it however when I got home it was dead slow again... So I switched HDMI cords and put it on my other TV and bam perfect.. So it could be something worth trying if your game is slow. This was all factory HDMI cable and all...the aftermarket Philips HDMI cable was way better. Hope this helps some.

I've already tested this too, but with old HDMI cable (1.2, 1.3, don't know) and nothing happened. Use Tegra Overclock OUYA, if you have stock cooling it might be noisy, but perfect. OUYA use Tegra profile for decoding I think it's about 200MHz - 350MHz and it's really too slow, if you are running at max 520MHz it's a way better.
That doesn't make any sense. An HDMI cable is just an HDMI cable. It could be that you're using 720p instead of 1080p now (you said you switched TVs), which would make a difference.

HDMI cable or TV theoretically can make a difference - I've had a couple inexpensive android sticks (the tiny ones that look like usb drives) not be able to drive a signal to my (crappy, off-brand, but generally decent) TV because the HDMI power draw was too great. (I know this seems like a really weird thing, right? common sense says "huh? it's just digital video and audio data right?" but there is in fact power requirements). shorter and better quality cable actually fixed it for me.
but - usually it's an all or nothing situation. you get the signal or you don't. lower machine performance wouldn't be indicated, I think.
