Why not buy the T9193? It's about the same price, as the T8585, PLUS you can get 3G Speeds, on other networks, like AT&T, with it.

I ordered from England @ a place called Clove.co.uk & paid $705 US. But this is for an UNLOCKED PHONE, I will not be bound by any yearly contact with anybody. I'll be free to go to the best carrier with the best coverage & price anytime I want to.
The price is with it to me considering its going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $299 - $399 WITH A 2-year contact. So do I think it worth the price? Hell yes I do!

You scared the **** out of me!!! The difference in pricing comes down to the shipping fees. I pre-ordered early, like when they announced it on September 1. I've been hitting the site daily finally saw a sort of decent price and spanked that monkey baby!
It could also have been the exchange rate too. I called Handtec and the difference comes down to shipping making Clove & Handtec pretty much the same price +/- a few $$$. That isn't enough to make me cancel the order and go with Handtec. Also, Handtec seems a little confused when you ask specific questions relating to specs and other info.
Maybe it was just the hit I dealt with - I dunno. Lastly, they're offering a version"network unlocked" which as he described as "upon boot I would see a network logo and from then on it would be basically unlocked, and that could be taken care of by either rooting the PHABLET or some other kind of software solution". Oh the price for that version is roughly £448.99 if you want to take a chance on that. They are expecting to receive they're first shipment on 10/31 and puter-orders will go out that same day.
Sounds awful confusing comming from a sales rep from such a well known dealer. For me that pretty much sealed Handtec' fate of me NOT buying a phablet from them.

IIRC it was $449.99
I paid $300 for a 16GB, but that was with the Staples $100 off coupon. So at the time it was, obviously, $400. I wasn't exactly an early adopter so it may have been higher than that at release.
Thanks lads that settles it for me. A friend here is adamant that acer would never charge less for a tab in the states than here in their homeland, so I put him straight. It was 625 US here when first released.

"I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. My experience with PCPARTSOHIO.COM was VERY pleasant. They returned my emails in under 24 hours of working business days. NO COMPLAINTS. I have full faith in ordering from this company. Reason being; I ordered an ACER A500 TABLET 16GB from their site. I was skeptical, but said what the heck. I'll risk my $234.99 shipped strait to my door. This was the BEST and CHEAPEST price on the ENTIRE INTERNET after I scoured www.shopwiki.com www.aliexpress.com www.amazon.com www.ebay.com and MANNNNNYYYY other sites. I emailed the company about refund and return policies in case of DOA or other problems. I was politely informed that they have a 90 day return policy. Excellent! I was so anxious to put my order through; I never waited for a response regarding these questions. They responded promptly @10:30am on the following Monday (order placed on Saturday). Informing me I would receive a tracking # when my package shipped in 2-7 business days from UPS. I was also informed that they work with liquidations that’s why it may be delayed to ship. I said that was fine and eagerly awaited the email. I never received (to my knowledge) a tracking email. I may have missed it since I receive multiple emails an hour, and never clean my inbox. All in all, I WILL do business with them again. Soon, in fact. I will be ordering my wife a tablet as well. They are great. PS: The tab came with a charger and the Tablet itself. Nothing else. BUT!~!!~~ It was shipped with NO scratches AND stock 3.0 or 3.1 I believe!! I OTA updated with out knowing I needed original stock to root. Lol took me about an hour to revert.... Tablet is running STRONG today. As it does every day! Ordered a green silicon case from amazon with screen protector for around $7.00.

Yeah this is true that the shipping is the catch... I myself did not notice this til I was ready to check out. Just choose ground.... doesn't take long. If you are someone scouring the internet today or soon or have been and you want a good deal this is one... Again It was $199.99 when I bought a couple of weeks ago so no telling if it will drop again soon... a good site in general for random computer parts(yeah that was off topic so sue me ) But for those poor souls out there looking on Amazon or ebay because that's the only sites they know, this does help. Why pay $350 on amazon or $280+ on ebay? I know we are in a not so fluffy economy and I for one LOVE to save ten dollars... let alone a hundred... or two...

I got mine for $199 + $35 shipping from them. Im pleased with it and it was in perfect shape. They reported it as new open box but was actually a refurbished one. That being said it was a great tablet @ a great price. Get one while you can.

Great find! This is cheaper than I've been buying them off of Craig's List!
I went to buy one of these, but one the page that I was supposed to enter my credit card info, I noticed that Google Chrome says it wasn't safe.
Here is the definition they gave:

There's no free lunch, and I highly doubt anyone ordering one of these red herrings will receive an A500 in any kind of reasonable condition. Judging by what other customers have said about their purchases at PC Parts Unlimited, you'll get something that was used, in a flood, inoperative, and possibly stolen. Use a reputable dealer.

Woot Buy
Got my Acer Iconia a500 from the woot website. I bought a 32gb refurbished a500 with wifi (standard with 90 day Acer warranty) and I received it in about a week and a half. It cost me 300 plus 5 dollars shipping and it has been working great so far. Love the forums by the way, very helpful (first time poster here).
