Hi
I have been using CM6 Nightlies for a while now, and I have been lurking about in the theme section for a while, and I would like to know how I can theme my Cyanogenmod roms?
Is it a case of actually flashing themed roms instead of Cyanogenmod?
I know ADWLauncher (included in Cyanogenmod) can be themed independently, but I am still a n00b to themes so would like to know what the best options are!
Thanks
Stu

Check out the threads over in the general android theming forum, especially this one
Sage words below
TIP: Your first theme should really just be a mixing and matching of other themes to get use to the process.
TIP: d/l and look at other themes and see what the have done, using the same process below you can port and mash themes. To see what is themed go to the res/drawable-xxx folders and sorte the png's in there to newest at the top and you'll see what they have changed.
TIP: system/app/xxx.apk are where most apps that are themed are contained in these apks you'll find a res folder and in there you have a bunch of folders. you really on need to look in the drawable-xxx ones mdpi, no-dpi, land and so forth. these pngs make up the apps look and feel changing them will theme the app.

Have tried to search for this but can't find a good answer..
I'm running Oxygen 2.0 RC6 with LauncherPro Plus and I want to change the statusbar color from balck to a bit more transparent.
So far I've pulled the framework-res.apk and found some *status_bar..* PNGs, but they're not black like on my Desire.
Thanks for help
Maybe /system/app/systemui.apk.

Pulled it, changed the most logical PNG I found, zipped and signed it and then pushed it back - didn't work. Got no statusbar at all :/

Hi dude,
what you need is to modify the framework.res of your rom
I am running Oxygen 2.0 RC6 with Zeam and LPP as well,
you will found what you want here
Basically it is the UOT Kitchen working fine for Oxygen 2.0 RC6
Enjoy

Done the Kitchen thingy, uploaded my framework-res.apk, changed status bar to 75% opacity and cooked it, downloaded it and flashed it, nothings changed
It does not work properly for gingerbread, I'm also looking for a fix..
After working on this for like 3 hours (I know I'm stupid) I found a fix.

Hi, it no Theme but a very good Mix of HO!NO! und "A Taste of Gingerbread" called "Modded Black GB Theme" (it's only a new framework.res) and it only works with CM6 !
Do you see a chance to port it to CM7 ?
PS: for me as a new Member it is not allowed to post external Links, so I attached the framework-res.
Kindest regards

Announcement: Theme Port to MetaMorph
Good morning,
i heard about metamorph and looked around a bit...
and... i figured out how to make metamorph themes!!!
so the updates in first post will stay and i'll start a new thread these days with the metamorph versions.
For those who not know what metamorph is:
metamorph is a script for OpenRecovery which allows to change themes.
The diffecence is that the files are patched with the new images only...
so you dont have to download a new version of the theme everytime a new rom is out...
as long its the same system (froyo and gingerbread differs in theme design cause of the new SystemUi.apk) you're able to use the theme for every update... in theory of course.
so stay tuned ^^
PS: successfully tested with iNexus CM7
ok and how can i remove the touch wiz from the design?
There're two (or more) ways,
first: use a filemanager with root access (like rootexplorer) go to "system->app" mount as R/W and delete Launcher2.apk
second: open the "Theme-update.zip", go to "system->app", delete Launcher2.apk
second way is only recommended if you're flashing a new system!
inexus rocks!!
I thought this was maybe a problem with the theme I downloaded, but I've tried 5 other themes now, and it's the same story. I'm running RC1, and am using RC1 themes.
I download a theme, place it on SD, wipe cahce and dalvik, install, reboot...and nothing happens. I go into themes and the same 3 are still there...I try going through each of the 3 themes, and they aren't what I've downloaded.
So what is going on?
anyone, anyone? Bueller?
Are you trying to install themes that can be used with the theme chooser? Or are they flashable zip files? Because if they are for the theme chooser the theme is a .apk and needs to be installed like a app. You can do this using most any file explorer.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I have tried both flashing them in recovery, and installing them through the market. None of them work. You go into "theme chooser" and the same 3 are still there that show up when I've flashed the ROM.
I've tried this with the RC build, and the nightly build of CM7...none of them work.

Name the themes...it may help isolate the cause?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
- Bliss
- Honeycomb
- R2D2
- Mixer
- Monochrome
- Frost
Which are zip files and which are apk files?
Mixer and honeycomb alpha v3 are apk files installed as true blue stated earlier. R2D2 is zip file that is flashed but not sure if working on nightlies since RC1. Others I do not know of....
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Honeycomb is the only one I've gotten from the market...the rest I've flashed in recovery.

The honeycomb theme from the market is an adw theme. The others that you flash will not show in the theme Chooser. Hope that clarifies it for you.

Oh, ok well I'll try that.
But that doesn't explain why when I flash things, it doesn't show up in theme chooser.

Flashed zipped files do not show up in theme Chooser. Theme Chooser themes are apk files.
Adw themes show up in adw settings and choose theme.
In short, tmo/cm7 theme engine (theme Chooser app) only accepts apk files themed for this engine. Some are on the market and some are available through searching.

ok with that being said
how would you explain the themes not showing up once they are flashed through cwm?
for example for me...i flash Bliss in cwm for cm7 RC1 and as soon as the phone boots it shows the new theme
but in Bballs case the new theme he flashed doesnt show at all...even though he followed the same steps as i did...flashing Bliss in cwm on cm7 RC1
any idea why its not working for him?

Let's think it through. All things being equal prior to flashing the theme, what possible causes are there? First, bad download. Second, things are not equal prior to flash of theme. E.g., some settings or theme each phone has set is different (system or cyanbread for example). Some ideas??
Where is this bliss theme?

i flashed Bliss on a fresh cm7 install...so the system theme was the current theme...other than that it was a normal install that i flashed Bliss
now Bball may be different...but im pretty sure he tried also on a fresh cm7 install...but i wont assume...im sure he can fill you in on what he did
EDIT: just to clarify my fresh install was cm7 RC1 and nothing else...no faux kernels or other icons or themes....flashed cm7 RC1 then after boot and initial setup i booting back into cwm and flashed the Bliss theme
Default launcher?

There are themes for the CM7 theme chooser everywhere. Firstly, take a look in the HD2 Android Themes & Apps section, then have a look on the market and other resources. The app 'Rom Toolbox' does pretty much everything, including giving a nice list of CM7 themes. There's also an app called something along the lines of 'Themes for T-Mobile theme chooser' on the market which gives themes and previews of them.
Just go into ADWsettings (click centre windows key), there you will see option for get themes under Theme Preferences?
