I bought a T-Mobile galaxy Tab and it has been working fine (Just been using it over Wi-Fi). I was going to unlock it, so I put my ATT SIM in it and it immediately rebooted. Now it is stuck in recovery mode. I cannot get it to boot.
The only thing I had done to it prior to inserting the SIM was to root it. It worked because I used it for some time before I inserted my SIM.
Tried wipe data-Factory reset and it still boots right back into recovery mode.
If I try apply update.zip it fails with the error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted....
Any Ideas?
Install Odin3 1.7(in the stickies) on your pc. Then flash either the stock t-mobile rom, or the roto JMI rom. Both threads are in the development forum as are several "how to" threads.
Installed ODIN, how do I know what PIT file and what PDA file I need? I just want to put it back the way it was and start over. Where can I find the stock pit and PDA files?
It's in the development section. The thread is from Rotohammer. Search from your pc not your tab. Try searching google for rotohammer t-mobile stock rom.
I was searching from my PC. I did find the rom, the only issue was that ODIN sa the Tab (com window was Yellow) but it would get stuck at "settingConnection" in ODIN. While I was trying to flash (stuck where I mentioned previously) I tried to power it off (to try and put it back in to download mode) and the symbol changed to the Droid guy and the PC with a dotted line between them. After that happened, it immediately started flashing and now it is working properly (stock).
Now back to the forums to read more how-to guides.
Thanks for the help!
Figured I should write my experience in case it helps someone else.
That is right. Many others learn from your trials and tribulations. I'm glad you got it done.
OBTW the phone ! pc is also download mode, so flash away when that appears.

Please search for similar threads. This same issue is being posted over and over and over again. When you were making this post, what "similar threads" or "similar topics" showed up? Did you check them for a solution?
yes sorry i looked at all of them and they all involved well just flashing the stock rom but i cant get my computer to see my gs4 on download mode...i got the drivers and odin installed.
Well, this thread has a couple of ideas...

or maybe here...

You might also want to look at the TWRP thread in the development section.
Try again to get into recovery, the key sequence can be tricky, make sure you are doing it just right. "Doing it just right" has been discussed many times.
Also, look at this thread, maybe it will help...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398336
Yea, I realize that thread is about MF3, but it still has ideas that might help you.
There are also a ton of threads about how to get your PC to recognize ODIN.....search.......good luck.
yeah ive been at it for hours man those links can all access the recovery i cant... i tried everything got the drivers up tried all the odins and its just stuck on "downloading do not turn off target" and my pc doesnt see it...
Odin finally recognized it on the pc in download mode and i was able to flash the stock rom but it seems it wasnts successful...it still just vibrates and vibrates when i press the power...
Try flashing the open recovery.

Take battery out, back in, power+volumedown, download mode, Install Samsung Kies, do Kies update, connect to PC, Tools-> firmware initialization, take battery out and type model/serial Number, wait patiently until it finishes.
Try different USB port or different PC. Use stock USB cable comes with original box.
If Kies screen get stuck at model number section, you did flash MF3 triangle thingy -> unsolveable brick. Have to go thorugh warranty replacement.

I'm having this problem past few days, tried all the links in the Q/A section, dev.. all links were dead.. and managed to found solutions for this problem.
Basically, the tab will stuck on "Samsung" logo and looping for eternity... tried to reflash the rom, wipe system and everything via odin.. will results the same thing...and I thought I'm gonna say good bye forever for my note 10.1 (n8000)...or send for repair (which samsung quoted me ~ $158 for the "board replacement"... but until I found how to get it alive... actually I've no idea what causing my n8000 stuck in the first place..
After a whole day "intensive" searching and everything.. almost all files links in xda were dead.. and finally I found out all the files and solutions..
What you'll need
> Odin 3.xx, can get from samfirmware website
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/30977/N8000XXUDNE5_N8000OLBDNE3_XME/
> Samsung drivers

> note 10.pit and efs (extract the efs.rar after download, yes it's i9300 but can be used)
> n8000 rom, can get from http://www.sammobile.com/ or development section. I prefer flashable rom in recovery such as android revolution HD, and place it in microsd.
> Philztouch CWM
(files as attached)
Steps to do the recovery
1. Download odin and extract
2. Download drivers and install.
3. Run Odin, place the following files
- click the PIT button, select the note10.pit.
- click the CSC, and select the previously extracted efs.rar..it should be efs.tar now
- click on AP, for custom recovery, such as philz.. or official rom..up to you.
4. Tick the following menus in Odin
- Re-Partition (optional, some users said no need to tick this would do as well)
- Phone bootloader update
- Phone EFS clear
5. Place your n8000 in download mode, and connect via USB.
6. Click on START button.. and hopefully success.
7. Once finishes, reboot into recovery mode (those who flash rom via Odin can skip this), and install the rom zip file.
Everything should be fine now and your n8000 should able to start properly... that's how I managed to "resurrect" my n8000 tho... hope these helps... mine was n8000 16GB, 3G/Wifi version

Hi there!
I'm new to this and need help understanding what to install under Step 2, which is downloading and installing of Samsung drivers.
I have already unzipped the Samsung driver file but I don't seem to see any installation files. Do I have to plug in my Note to get to this? Or are they installed onto the computer first?
Many thanks, as this could potentially save my Note and save me $500... :fingers-crossed:
boootloop problem
tried all this ,but still my n8000 did not flash through odin properly but failed with error
'Repartition operation failed'
After running odin it says "reset" then the tablet returns to the "Galaxy note 10.1" logo and cycles going black then showing the logo.
When I hold down the power button it shuts off and turns back on again. So no luck for booting into recovery.
Im 99% i'm doing all the steps right.
Thank for your help.
ipoddude95, I have same problem. I tried different computers, different cable, different versions of odin to flash different versions of stock roms. but no success so far...
Similar problem
Hi,
I've got similar problem and I check couple of methods to solve this, unfortunately none was successful.
I tried method described in this thread, but was not successful.
I have old version of TWRP recovery (2.5.0.0). I can load recover but whatever I try to do - clear cache, format data, install recovery using dd it finish with error.
I tried installing new recovery twrp and philz using odin, using heimdall, everything seems to be ok, but when I try to load recovery I've got couple of restarts and then old TWRP loads. I've tried stock firmware, custom, with repartition and without.
I'm guessing that in my case it could be some kind of physical problem with memory.
What I can check more or what to try? How can I determine whether problem may be physical with rom memory?

I have, instead of just showing the initial "galaxy note 10.1" screen it goes to the "Samsung" logo with the animation and cycles through that. Still can't get into recovery.
thanks for the help
Hello, i have also this issue with the galaxy note 10.1 gt-n8020, its stucks on samsung logo and doesnt go any further...i dont have a custom firmware neither the tablet its rooted, i tried with odin having the original firmware but when i press start, after the msg "Start write to NAND" i get a FAIL and ends there. Even with the method mentioned here, still i get the FAIL msg...any Info on this on what might be the cause and maybe a possible fix?Can this be also hardware related malfunction?I cant go into recovery mode, only download mode works...
Thank you for the help, my Samsung note 10.1 note went on boot loop about a year ago , i tried so many different ways to flash it and nothing worked. finally got it working with your help.
only problem i encountered was wen i click on (AP, for custom recovery, such as philz.. or official rom..up to you.) it didnt allow me to put the downloaded file in so i used (i9300_repair_efs.tar)
and it worked..
THANK YOU
You Sir are a pinnacle of evolution! Stumbled on this thread by error while going trough history links in my browser and all of a sudden my brick turned to Galaxy Note 10.1!
Only note, I've used i9300_repair_efs.tar for AP like farhaanwireless suggested and device is restoring as I type this
Thanks a ton once more

Can you tell us exact steps you did? Because I am trying without success :\
Also another thing: the i9300_repair_efs.tar it's a rar and when extracted I get a directory with a .md5 file... Is that file that are you using?
Yes, that md5 was used.....
I've went completely by procedure described in first post, with exception of i9300_repair_efs change as mentioned. For that part, I've used latest Odin downloaded from Samsung web, and for bootloader, I've used Odin 3.05, just to be sure, since there is a button with "Bootloader" written on it
Hey guys, i'm new to rooting and flashing. Yesterday i succesfully rooted my Galaxy S5 SM-G900F (netherlands) (no simlock). I got TWRP installed and tried to flash Xposed. My bootloader wasn't unlocked and i thought i made a backup in TWRP but didn't(ubernoob). Now the phone is in a bootloop. I only see the samsung logo and nothing else. I can get into recovery mode which is TWRP now and into download mode.
I've downloaded the correct Stock Rom to flash it on my device with Odin3 so i can start from scratch. Unlike the guides and tutorials i get a FAIL error. "Get PIT mapping". I can't find the solution to get out of this bootloop. I've tried everything i can find online but then again i'm pretty noob.
Can someone PLS help me!
Greets, Gosse from Holland
[EDIT] I've tried installing firmware again with KIES according to a youtube video, it started downloading the firmware but when it tried to transfer it on the phone it said the phone isn't connected(just as it said when i started KIES3). After this process the boot loop is a bit different. I get a message saying: (translated from dutch): phonestorage damaged: the datapartition is damaged, you must reset your phone to factorysettings. clicking on : reset phone boots op TWRP real quick with a lot of text like unable to mount. and then the bootloop starts over again.
[FIXED!] no help from you guys at all. But trying a different USB port solved the "Get Pit for mapping" error. Super simpel solution. Hope this helps others!
I was trying to flash CM11 ROM in my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830, for that I have also installed CWM 6.0.5.3. While flashing ROM from recovery it failed with some error message, I tried it once again and again it stopped with the same error message. I decided to try some other ROM and kept mobile on side to search new rom, the mobile was still in recovery mode connected with usb for charging, after a minute as I saw at my mobile it was not in recovery mode, the screen was OFF. I tried to restart it again & again but failed, I even tried to start it in recovery mode but failed. Tried overnight charging, thinking that its battery is down, but failed to restart it. Then I searched about it on google, and came to know it was bricked with solution to flash it with stock rom using Odin, if it is still getting detected in PC. My PC is still detecting my mobile, tried flashing stock rom using Odin, but it is getting stuck at "< 1 >setup connection...". I don't know what to do now. My mobile is not in warranty, so no way in getting it repaired from service center. If anyone know any solution for this, then please tell me. I am eagerly waiting for your reply. Moderators, please don't delete this thread saying to go and search for same kind of threads, I have already done that & at last posted in new thread. Please Help me as soon as possible. Thanks..
http://download1187.mediafire.com/eew353b6p3sg/y2yja47mu5ew4g5/samsung+Galaxy-Ace+gt-s5830.rar
Extract it, open "S5830_Odin+Multi+Downloader+v4.38.exe" then in the OPS section select the .ops file in the extracted folder, then give a check on "One package" check box. Then on the bottom press the "One package" button and select the firmware in the folder and you're done !
P.S. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling Samsung USB Drivers, removing Kies, switching cables, ports or even PC's (if possible)
First: I'm a noob. I only know the basics, and I am sure someone asked this before but I simply can't find it, after weeks and weeks of searching.
I have an original Samsung Galaxy Young from when it first came out. Recently tried to install a custom rom on it and 1. didn't back it up 2. didn't even root
It now boot loops or sends me to Recovery mode. From what I've read it's a soft brick, because I still can access the recovery mode.
Whenever I try anything it tells me:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I tried installing CWM from one of the threads here that still work (installed v6.0.1.2)
The menu opens but nothing works (ie: wiping cache, system, etc...)
I tried installing a custom rom with CWM: Can't mount cache; Can't open last_install: No such device
I tried installing TWRP and it doesn't work either
Tried ODIN (in admin) but phone doesn't appear (I installed the samsung drivers)
I simply can't find anything. I'm so sorry of asking you all to help such a rookie that makes dumb mistakes but I simply can't find any answers anywhere
Please, please help me.
Have u tried vol- + home + power keys?
Samsung have specific called Download Mode like semi-fastboot on most brands.
Same'kind of answer, did you boot in Odin mode before connecting the phone to the computer in order to'use this soft (that should unbrick your device if you flash a dedicated stock rom)

Yes and no: I tried it but it didn't work for some reason, but I just tried it now and it worked. i'll keep you updated if it works
Okay so it worked. Here's what I did in detail in case someone who doesn't understand anything ever needs these files (took me weeks to actually find them):
1. Install Odin3 v1.85 (i found mine on hardreset.info)
2. Get the partitioned firmware from here or from the attached files
3. Then, I entered download mode on my Galaxy Young (Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button)
4. Opened Odin v1.85 with Administrator Perms
5. Put totoro_0623.pit in PIT
6. BOOT_S5360XXMK1_REV05.tar in Bootloader
7. PDA_S5360XXMK1_REV05.tar.md5 in PDA
(I didn't put anything in phone but i guess you can put the MODEM file in that section, don't quote me on that)
8. GT-S5360-csc-DBTML1.tar.md5 in CSC
9. Checked Re-Partition, Auto Reboot and F. reset Time
10. Pressed START
And now everything works just fine!
The thing that was missing was 1. Odin Mode on the phone and 2. Odin flashable firmware (sammobile premium locked so I had to go look elsewhere)
