thanks for your answer, but now I've got android on my phone and I would like to clean the internal memory , cause I've got some problems in installing new roms...
may I do a task29 or not and do I lose magdlir amd recovery in that case?
Task29 removes everything except HSPL and Radio..
Yeah, you'll have to reinstall all...
ok, that's an answer!

OK...quick clarification on Task29...I've got HSPL3 on my phone, which I have used to load numerous ROM's at the moment, but I have NOT done a task29 before.
Really quick question, if I do a task29, does my HSPL3 loader get blitz and I need to reinstall that, or is all that there and I just jump straight into loading the new ROM.
That's about it.
Thanks!

Sweet!!
Let the games begin.
Thanks for the clarification.
Mods, if you want you can close/move this thread if you feel you need to.
Will Task29 later today and reinstall the latest Energy ROM and see if it cures my outlook synch issues.
LOVE the Energy ROM, just need my emails to work properly.
Cheers!!

Be sure to end your partnership before you flash, but if you have done this before , you may have to clean out activesync/WMDC and re-install it ..
Never had a problem on any custom rom with activesync/WMDC as long as I end the partnership before flashing ....
Think of it as a "format". I do it before loading any ROM as it seems to make sure everything was cleared out from the prior ROM.
I also suggest doing a hard reset before task29 and after flashing the new ROM. That should cover all bases
Hello to all ..
Every time I want to do a clean install of a NAND ANDROID ROM , I do the following steps:
1) format the memory with task29
2) flash MAGLDR
3) flash the NAND ROM
But my question is this: it is essential to format with task29 to make a clean install? Or do I just have to flash the rom using MAGLDR?
Thank you all ..
Not always necessary.
when flashing with DAF.exe in MAGLDR, it usually formats the partitions it created.

Thanks for your reply. But the formatting with DAF.exe enough?

Well I Installed a few 3-4 without task29

Does Not seem to matter what method you use .. works fine both ways.

I know alot of people seem to think using Task29 is the way to go, but every time you install MAGLDR, CLOCKWORK, or a new rom the nand is re-partitioned, formatted etc so I see absolutely no benefit of Task29.
I might consider using Task29 if I decided to switch back to Windows, but why would I want to do that..

+1 Task29 serves no purpose since the nand is essentially scrubbed in the installation process.

Thank you very much. I understand that task29 with Android is useless.
so i got mjd cyangamod 7 nand on my hd2 and i recently sold it because it was my second phone...ive been trying to delete my info and seem to got everything off i go into privacy and reset everything but in accounts/sync my email is still there and when i try to remove it it says to factory reset well ive done that a few times and its still showing up?
any help
Go in to MAGLDR, and select the option 'AD HardReset'. That should do the job.
You mean you want to completely remove android, or do you mean you want to remove all your data that was on android (emails, apps, messages, contacts, etc)? If it is the latter, then simply reflash the build. Hard reset in the settings won't solve your problem, as you've noticed. Or you could go into the email app, go to the settings and delete the accounts.
yeah i just want to remove all my data...would the hardreset work?
yes the MAGLDR AD hardreset will work. It will erase the phone's data, leaving only HSPL and MAGLDR. meaning it will remove android also
Yeah, if you go in to MAGLDR and do it. It doesn't work in Android, because it's not the HD2's native OS. There wouldn't be that feature of MAGLDR for no reason.
If that DOESN'T work, then most certainly re-flashing the ROM will work. But there's really no need.
but i would have to reflash anyway correct?, since it only leaves mag, and hspl
No. It just resets the NAND ROM. Doesn't over-write it or anything.
oh I assumed it would erase everything, oh okie, thanks for the info, and sorry about the misleading info.
hey thanks, i got into magdlr and did the reset then just booted into nand and it loaded back up new
how do i give you a thanks point?
No problem. Cotulla/DFT just wouldn't put that feature there for no reason.
But you're forgive, after all, you're Jamaican MON. hahaha. ;p

Hi,
Yes and it is recommended to do task29 if you are changing to another rom or want to do clean install. When you do the update it is not needed.
So unlike flashing WinMo, in Android we do Task29 when changing roms. TnX for the help

It's honestly not *needed* 90% of the time. But for the few occasions where the ROM just isn't working right, then yeah, go ahead and do the task29.

Especially people who only flash a ROM every now and then should take the one minutes it takes to apply Task 29 in my opinion, because it can save you from a lot of hassle later on.
I basically do it before *almost* every flash just to be on the save side.
Hey guys,
Been running HyperDroidGBX-v12 for a couple months now, its just rock solid stable & the best rom ever. But I'm selling my HD2 now and I need to know how to wipe my info.
I tried a master reset and it does nothing, just restarts and takes me back to my homepage.
Whats the trick?
A link or an explanation would be great. Thanks!
if i was you, i'd task 29, install radio, magdlr, recovery then flash the ROM again.
Can be sure 100% everything is wiped and new owner will be left with android on, nice and fresh and fast etc, but with all personal info wiped.

how are you running the rom? if through clockwork thru magldr. go in clockwork and wipe dalvik cache and wipe cache to get it like when it first boots if you want to bring it back to factory like how its sold from the carrier than theres more instructions. if the latter is what you want ill point you in the right direction.
Thank you, I figured it out.
