Where to find an apk file. - Droid X General

I have the original "fancy widget" app. I can't find the download file that I originally had. Where can I find that file to send it to someone? I looked in root explorer in the app folder but I don't see it? Any ideas?

Are you talking about the genie widget? I uploaded all .apks I had from a rom that took them out. Take a look if you want.

Could it possibly be under /data/app?

It's not under data/app. I don't know why...

Maybe /system/app? Or wait, you know it wont be called fancywidgets.apk or whatever the app was right? It should be called something like, but don't hold me to this, com.Android.fancywidgets or something along those lines

Hey thanks jmoney. It was under data/apps. I was looking under system/apps before. I found it. Thanks again!

Check Myn's rom page, there is a link. It may only work with a sense rom, i;m not sure.

Download those and keep them on your sd card. That way you can always install them with each new rom. Don't forget the flash fix. That's essential

This is an awesome tutorial. Thnx!
That tutorial seemed really complicated? Idk if I'm just dumb but seemed like a lot like the hex editing deleting and reinstalling apps? Isn't there an easier way to do this?

Use a rom that has it built in
But I'm in love with miui

Help changing carrier name plz

I was using liberty rom and I used liberty toolbox but the carrier name still didn't change. In the notification it still said liberty. Is there a way to do this without a computer? Can ninjamorph do it? If so where do I go? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I believe you'll need to change the eri.xml

Did you make sure it wasn't more than 16 characters?

16 char. Only and u need to reboot immediately after you save the text...its rather simple if u follow those steps.

What do i have to change Eri.xml to? I did everything just like it says but my notification still says liberty v1.0. The text I input Is less than 16 characters. I put a image in my notification drop down bar replacing my status_bar_background.png but should that affect this from working? Not sure how to get this to work through liberty toolbox or other methods without computer????
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Change it in toolbox then reboot. Fixed
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I change it in the toolbox and reboot and nothing changed
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Try it again. If it doesn't work, try really flashing liberty if its that big of a deal. Then go to toolbox, change it, and really boot
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
You have to save it too. Change the text then click menu and save. Then reboot. Should work then...

I did all the obvious already less than 16 characters, save, and reboot still not working. Dont know if I have something thats conflicting with it

and you're done
I don't remember if it was a problem with Liberty Rom or the Toolbox...
But either way, some version didn't work with the pulldown editor.
Don't assume the kid is a complete idiot, guys.

Content not supported on the phone???

Been having this problem on a few eb13 roms. When I go to download an .apk file from a web site it cancels immediately and says content not supported on phone. I've allowed unknown sources and can't seem to find any other common problems... Thanks for any help

Download astro file.manager on your phone. Open it up and hit the.menu button. Select more then.preferences. scroll down and you'll see a box that says allow browser downloads. Click it. Now you can download the.apk.

Negatory. As of now, the Battery Mod app is SRF-exclusive.
That's why your **** rocks!

You can also just use a market browser instead of the stock one.

You can also download the app "Download All Files" which will add a TON of extensions to your phone, will allow pretty much any download.

Updated market

I saw this posted once on Droid forms or xda but can't fnd it and I'm on liberty 2.0.1 and is wondering if I can get the new market update without changing roms

Try using rom manager to download and flash the most current Google apps pack. That should work...
Dispatched at the Speed of Light from my XOOM
Search for the new market on 4shared, install it then.

Rooted but still cant delete a ringtone?

Hi I have a rooted n7 stock 4.1.2, I can't seem to delete a ringtone "hangout_dingtone.m4a" I am using ES File Exploer with SU permissions. Every time I delete it and reboot my n7 the files come back. The file is one file but when done a search shows up in two places, if I rename it in one place it renames in the other place as well. The files are located in /data/media/notification/hangout_dingtone.m4a and /storage/sdcard0/notification/ hangout_dingtone.m4a is there any way I can delete it from both locations? The reason why I want this done is because they show up multiple times in the default sounds menu.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
That's because they are exactly the same location!
Just delete it from sdcard.
Sent from my Nexus 7
Youd think it would go away, but after a reboot there it is back in the folder. /sdcard/notification
any other way you can think of?

/system/media/audio/ringtones

Ok, I deleted both hangout ring/ding tone files from notifications. Rebooted the phone and ding is back again.
Based on the name, it belongs to Google+, so I would say the app reinstalls the file if it is deleted.
Either leave the file alone or try freezing/uninstalling Google+.

How would you suggest I freeze google plus app?
