Please provide more information as to "don't work"
What doesn't work?
What are the error messages?
Although I haven't done extensive tests with non-standard storage card names, I renamed my card to "Carte de stockage" and was able to run an Auto install without an issue.

Cool, I like the AUTO function very much which now makes it possible to also auto install interactive setups!
I had to use other additional tools so far, but now no more!
Also Macisu is a great thing. By the way there are also VPN and GPRS settings based on the same technique which I think are not handled so far, right? Will you include them also in a later version?
Regarding the PIM backup: Because the auto install does not allow to overwrite some read only and similar files whereas the manual version is doing it according to the doc, I suppose this might be the reason that simply copying a PIM.VOL into the auto-root folder and trying to auto install it is not working, right?
But it would be very convenient if one could restore a pim.vol also in the auto install phase.
Is there any chance to get this done?
Thank you very much one more time for this phantastic and still getting better and better tool!

Thanks..I'll answer here, but please post any additional comments/questions in the main SASHIMI thread.
Post any suggestions for Makisu in the Makisu thread (see it in my sig). Please try to link to any information on XML/CSPs you want added to help me in trying to implement it.
Also, as far as the PIM...no this won't work (even with the read-only overwrite in Auto phase). This is because the PIM.VOL is not able to be overwritten. This is not because it is read-only but because it is locked down by some system process. The method I am using to restore it is to rename the original, and then replace it with the backup. A reboot is needed to finish the job so that the system will take its lock off the old one and begin using the "new" PIM.VOL.
SASHIMI 7.5 is up.

As the program grows it gets increasingly more time consuming for me to QA it prior to release. I appreciate any feedback, bug reports, etc. Enjoy!
hi bengalih. i see you are now supporting i780 screen resolution for 7.5.
let me know if you're going to support omnia in future releases. I'd be willing to test.
I used to run sashimi on my kaiser but since I relegated it as my secondary device, I haven't been flashing it lately. I did try to hack the scripts and found out that the code used is hard coded depending on the screen resolution so it didn't work on my omnia.

Yeah, actually a user in the thread hacked the i780 support so I included it officially in this release (as I don't like "hacked" versions of SASHIMI going around.)
I believe the omnia screen is 240x400 is that correct?
What I will need you to do is download these test CABs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=98270&d=1215661765
For each one I need a screenshot of the install location screen (Where is asks where you want to install).
Also, a full registry export (in .REG) format of your device may be helpful.
What does the omnia use for external storage, does it have a standard Storage Card slot like the Kaiser?
Once you get me that info I should be able to get the support in and I will post a beta for you to test.
Hi,
Thanks for bringing version 7.5, the root directory works so much faster now. It was very slow in version 7.0, but I didn't feedback about it, since it works.
Today's feedback is on Makisu, which you had added all the settings that WM provides.
After I use Makisu to create a wireless profile, it seems that the selection was not written in.
The profile I try to create:
1. Network name: ABC
2. Connects to: The Internet
3. This is hidden network
4. Authentication: Open
5. Data Encrytion: WEP
6. The key is automatically provided
7. Use IEEE 802.1x network access control
8. EAP type: PEAP
Note that after I created the above profile, save it, and provision it, when I went into the settings to see if everything was created correctly, item 7 was not checked, and item 8 not set.
I tried twice, the result was the same. You might want to check it out.
Thanks.

Yup, there was a problem there, easiy fixed and a 1.6 update is posted (both on the Makisu thread, and a SASHIMI-specific update on the first post of the main SASHIMI thread).
Thanks for the feedback!
greetings. I ve got a gt i5800 and suddenly the wifi does not scan for networks. I activate it and a message like scaning (for networks) was unable or not possible (in my language) and then it deactivates itself. I can use the internet turning on 3g but I cannot use wifi due to scan error. Any clues?
backup /data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf
after backing up (your stored passwords are in there) delete the file.
usually then it scans again for networks...
another possibility is, that you use a g3mod kernel for CM6.2 for froyo

Are you using any sort of custom rom that might have this effect on your phone? Even the samsung roms are a little faulty and sometimes these things occur. Just flash a stock rom if you are using a custom rom and if you are using a stock rom just flash the latest one for your region or wipe data/factory reset/hard reset. This should sort it although the comment above sounds like the person knows what he's doing

Hi, i want to know if it is possible to pre-define settings like mobile data (off) or account sync (off) or any other before flashing? Is there a file which i could edit?
Oor if this isn't possible, whats about to integrate DroidWall into system? Status should be enabled(requires root permission). Rules aren't important since DW blocks every activity from the start.
The thing is, every time i flash a ROM and type in my PIN, android activates mobile data automaticly and sends some bytes. I simply want to stop android from doing this.
Actually i am using the latest ICS build.
I appreciate any suggestions.

Are you wanting to completely turn off mobile data?

For example I want to prevent android activating mobile data by typing in my pin after fresh rom install, if you know what i mean. So ofc i should be still able to switch it on if needed.
I just want to set a few system settings before flashing. Like Accounts & Sync off and GPS Satellites off.
Xylograph told me he hasnt seen any option for it yet, but if there is any it might could be stored in /data/data or /data/misc
Sent from my HTC HD2
i did a little research and found following:
for predefining Systemsettings:
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
there is a settings.db which changes in realtime if i change any systemsettings like bluetooth or wifi or gps. if you open it there are some sub entries. the systemsettings are in settings.db/secure and /system
i ll try to set up my rom now like i want, copy then the file and paste it in a romfile with the same dir location. lets see if this works after flashing. the settings.db file can also be edited.
for DroidWall integration:
also for DroidWall i will create folder for
/data/app/com.googlecode.droidwall.free-1.apk
/data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@[email protected]
/data/data/com.googlecode.droidwall.free/and all files/folders in it
/data/user/0/com.googlecode.droidwall.free/and all files/folders in it
the only problem i think i will have is the root persmission per superuser. i need a config file for superuser but i havent found any.
i hope the dalvik-cache file will help
[email protected]@[email protected]
EDIT:
Doesnt work. None of the two.
Android just ignores the settings.db after first start and therefore all predefined settings like GPS and so on.
I am thinking about to set the permission for settings.db readonlny, before flashing.
And DroidWall have no Rootpermission. And superuser doesnt ask me for root if i restart DroidWall.
I think to get DW working i need to predefine Superuser. But i dont know how.
Hi,
I've used CM7 and CM9 before with no major problem. But probably did something wrong because after flashing couple of ICS ROMs my phone (Defy-red lens) became unusable with 2 problems:
- no mobile network connection (no phone-calls, no SMS, no 2/3G)
(Wifi and Bluetooth are OK)
- it does not save the setup, each boot is a new phone with new configuration setup.
I've tried different ROMs (CM9, Quarx, Skanky, etc) with different Kernels (7 & 9), but nothing seems to change this behavior.
The phone also doesn't recognize the IMEI and can't search of operators. I've attached some screeshots.
I was wondering if someone else could share their experience with me or, somehow try to help me. I'm willing to try out things....
Cheers.
You tried changing your baseband??
Sent from my Defy+ using Tapatalk 2
Baseband is not initialized/installed. In the first pic, it shows the baseband as 'unknown'. Select proper baseband matching your country from Baseband Switcher (settings -> Advanced->Baseband Switcher) and reboot your phone.

Baseband is by default on Europe > Central Europe > 3.4x 900/2100 MHz which is not right for me. Should be America > Brasil > TIM 3.4.2-107-9 850/2100 Mhz.
The problem is, as I mentioned, that the phone does not save any settings. After the reboot the Baseband comes back to the default setting.
I already did the wipe factory/reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache many times before/after flashing a ROM (and event deleted the dalvik cache folder via terminal emulator since it wasn't asking for confirmation when deleting via cwm) but didn't really change anything...
Any idea what's leading to the settings not being saved?
Thank you for helping.
PS: I didn't play with partitions, but as I've read in this post, of a similar problem, that this might be the case, I'll post the screenshot of the command df just in case...

Though the problem seems quite different but it might be your baseband switcher..
try BBs_v4
It might work.

Thanks. I was able to change the baseband with this app (and somehow keep this setting after a reboot - see screenshots), but under "About phone" still shows as Baseband version Unknown. And I still have no network signal...
Meanwhile... the matter with partitions and settings lost after reboot:
I know a litte of Linux, but I don't understand Android's structure or how it deals with partitions, but I might have found something:
In Bootmenu Recovery > Advanced > Show Log reads:
Bootmenu Recover v.5.0.6

ro.allow.mock.location=0
ro.debuggable=0
persist.service.adv.enable=0
ro.factorytest=0
ro.usb_mode=normal
ro.bootmode=reboot
ro.baseband=unknown
ro.carrier=unknown
ro.bootloader=0x0000
ro.hardware=mapphone_umts
ro.revision=0
I:Cheching for extendcommand...
I:Skipping execution of exetendcommand, file not found...
W: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p25 (Invalid argument)
As I see that in the system there are others blocks with similar names (screenshots in post #4), I was wondering if this might be related to the problem I'm dealing with (loosing settings after reboot).
I see some people had problems with this block/partition, for instance in this post - Issue with /dev/block/mmcblk1p25, but I couldn't figure out how they fixed.
Any help is much appreciated.
Hi fbugnon,
I have the same problem on my Defy. I've tried to use 2 differents builds from wdscript.fr (120613 and 120610), installed baseband switcher, but the problem is the same as yours.
Everytime the phone restarts, it resets all settings.
I'm trying to use a build from quarx (quarx2k.ru, build 120305) now, let's see if that helps.
I'll keep you updated.
Hi tiagomelo,
I've tried many differents ROMs but no one was able to change this behavior. I'm not sure, but I believe the problem is related to the partition error mentioned on my last post -- do you also have the same problem?
I was forced, eventually, to do a full SBF with Tim's original system so that I could use my phone and now I'm using CM 7.2 rc3.... Waiting for ICS to solve the calendar sync bug which is crucial for my work and then I'm back on.
Wish you good luck! And please keep us posted, I would like to know where this will lead you to.
Cheers

Guys i dont know if if i can help you over here but i was some issues with the call/data/3g ... for me as soon as i tried using them they froze completely, not the phone but the signals .. its was related to my baseband settings and stuff,
so i found a solution for this ...
go into recovery cpu settings,
Status: enable
Enable all modules
Scaling: Conservative
dont forget to save at bottom and reboot
if these settings worked for you then it should be alright
This is just a suggestion to the issue .. u can try it .. I don't know if it is %100...
for me it works

That's a different thing. The reason for your freeze would be something with your CPU/chipset.
Good to see someone who is familiar with this issue of mine ..
so would u b able to tell me why i was having this problem with the chipset/cpu related to calls and data download ...
i know its not the right thread but i tried other thread but no answers yet

Hi Ajitnegi,
As mentioned before, the only solution I could find to this problem was restoring the orignal ROM (Motorola's) by doing what they call a full SBF (you can read a bit about sbf in here or in posts on this forum).
Sorry not being able to help any further. Good luck.

Same problem | No network connection
Hi
I am also facing the same problem, no network connection. After going through this post where you had asked to change the baseband settings to the country specific, I did change it. Unfortunately, even after changing the baseband settings, after reboot it changes to default value (.i.e. Central Europe).
While going through this forum, I could not find any final settings provided by the developer, did you get any ? If so, can you point out to it.
Thanks,
Nash

Hi Ajitnegi
I don't know if this is the only way to fix it, but In order to recover MY phone I had to flash a full SBF, which is -- as I understand -- basically a Motorola Recovery that works pretty much like a factory reset. Search the forum and I'm sure you'll find someone explaining how to do it.
Or if you rather take some time to better understand what's going on with your phone before you start flashing it, you might want to take a look at this excellent "All-in-one Defy Beginner's Guide".
Cheers

Hi All,
I've noticed in android O wifi passwords are not stored in /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf anymore. It's handy to back them up or recover long back saved networks.
Anyone have a clue where are them now?

Nougat is still as it was from ics or even before I think.
Also in O the file is there at the same path, and it contains the same header as it does in android 7.* and before (some configuration stuff). What is not in the file is the list of all known networks and their password.

If I hit known network in android wifi options I can see all my previously stored wifi. Everything works perfectly. If I add new networks they will be added with no issues and remembered for ever and ever. (and obviously will not be added to the file). It is like this list is just somewhere else now on the phone.
I am waiting to see any apps that use the new location but I haven't found any. I have notified the developer of the app I use of the change but he has yet to release an update.
Essentially if you upgrade your phone to Android Oreo it will migrate the wpa_supplicant.conf to /data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore.xml.
That is the new file. The Wifi Password apps read the wpa_supplicant.conf which will still exist, however, any new connections made will be stored in the WifiConfigStore.xml file meaning that the Wifi Password apps won't "see" the new connections.
Worse yet, If you did a reset of your phone and you are starting from scratch you will only be able to get that information from the WifiConfigStore.xml file.
All is not lost, since you most likely have root for the apps to get that data in a nice gui, it means that you access that file directly (via a root explorer file manager) to see your connections and passwords.
Hey guys,
so I created an app that should help.
