Hello,
I have moved my HD2 to Android using the NAND Rom. Its very good and everything is working well, but I have an issue with the HTC Sync.
The HD2 is connecting well to my PC (XP, SP2). USB is well detected and I can go through the SD card when I am in the USB storage mode without problem.
But when I want to use the HTC SYNC software (3.0.5511), and after having configured the USB connection to "HTC Sync", the HTC SW does not detect the device and the HD2 does not detect the HTC Sync SW on the PC.
(I have tried both starting right away with the HTC Sync mode and switching from Mass Storage to HTC Sync mode).
Is there any solution to that ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I could be completely wrong but I have read that HTC Sync does not work with our devices because it is a ported software and not original to the phone

yea that's what i thought.. if you don't have htc sense then there will be no HTC SYNC
Thanks for your feedback.
I guess it's supposed to be a "Stock Desire" ROM developped by DFT
I used HSPL2.08 / MAGLDR 1.13 to perform that.
Which ROM to use then, as I need HTC Sync to work, or is there any other means to Sync contact and agenda with the "Stock Desire" ROM ?
Right HTC Sync only works with Sense roms, if you want to use it with non-sense roms then you can use: My Phone Explorer, free on the market, does the same thing and a bit more.
OK, Thanks to All, I'll try this one.
I have similar problem. HD2 worked fine but after two months of haveing some zip Android build, and wanted to change it and to try WP7. I have 2.08 HSPL, 2.15.50 radio, MAGLDR 1.13 and CWR 3.0.0.5. In SPL mode it won't change from "serial" to "USB" (as it should) and in MAGLDR can't switch to USB Flasher mod, so I can't change current CWR. Any idea?

What version of windows are you using on your PC? If you are using Windows Mobile Device Center (on Vista or Win7), make sure that in the settings, you still have a check mark on "allow usb connections".
And what if you connect the phone as an external drive? Does windows recognize it?

I have Windows 7, but i also had a HTC Touch pro2 before and that went good.
No succes when i manualy set the phone to harddrive...
I don't even get a popup screen on the phone to select a option...
Can someone please help me to tel me howto upgrade my phone with an other rom version.
I think i have to do a hspl too!!
Thanks all.
If you are not getting the option to choose how the phone should connect, have you checked the settings "usb to pc"? Maybe it is set to "not ask" when the phone is connected. I would check that before flashing a new rom.
I use Dutty's Holy Grail R2 ROM (it's an HD2 style rom for the HD) and I am happy with it. I also installed Cookie Monster's Home Tab which in my opinion is a "must have" as it improves the use of the home tab tremendously.
To install a new ROM, you don't have to use hspl if you don't want. I have always used uspl (newest version is uspl 2.5). You will need to install the old XP drivers on Win7 in order for it to work.
You can find information in the following links:
Using uspl
Tutorial on upgrading to 1.56 ROMs (very important; there you will also find video tutorials that will help you; info is for hspl or uspl)
HTC Drivers for XP - needed if you are flashing using Vista or Win7 (see post 1 and 3)
Dutty's Holy Grail R2 ROM (it's the one I use)
Other ROMs to choose from (HTCpedia.com) or see also ROM development section at XDA
Cookie Monster's Home Tab (great improvement to the home tab. You also need the CHT editor to fully customize things)
I hope that helps.
thx
Yes i changed that setting.. but the same result.
How do i install that uspl with only a memmory card option??
Thx
Hmm, I have never flashed via memory card. I think for that you do have to use hspl. But I am not sure, so maybe someone else can answer that.
Dutty's post in htcpedia.com says:
*Flashing Guide
SAFEST WAY TO FLASH YOUR ROM IS THROUGH STORAGE CARD METHOD:
* Copy BLACIMG.NBH into the root dir of your Storage Card.
* Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
* Turn off your device by using the Power Button.
* Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
* After that your device will have a white screen with text " Press the power button to continue upgrade or Press Volume down button to cancel upgrade".
But, like I said, if you are only using a memory card, I think you have to have first installed hspl on your phone. ???
if you use your HTC HTC sense build in HD2, you can sync with HTC sync tool.
here can download it, because you can download from htc.com only with a android phone serial number

new:

kendimce,
Thank you very much for this. HTC Sync installed and working fine! Without being able to sync my outlook stuff, I'd have to switch back to WinMo, but I'm keen to stick with Android now I've got over that major obstacle. Thanks again!
It works the 1st time (installed last week) and now it failed to detect my device (error message on PC: no device connected). I tried uninstall the HTC sync and drivers and reinstall it from fresh (4-5times) with no luck. I also tried many methods posted in variuos fourm and still have the same error message.
Have anyone experince this and how you resolve it? Please help.
Same here.
I get "No Device connected" on PC and "Unable to find HTC Sync" on phone.
I am on Artemis 27 and Matt c 1.7 Android.
and, yes, I am putting USB Mode into HTC Sync!
Any thoughts?

Same here. Can install HTC Sync OK, but can't connect - "Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC.............." and "No device connected" messages.

only with HTC Build
HTC Sync will only work with HTC builds like HTC desire.
Hi I have a HTC HD2 and running sense.
Installed HTC sync the above version but i'm not able to sync. When i plugin my HD2 the system does not even react.

Not true, I ve got it without serial number. It does not work at all though...... switching to WinMo, it DOES work. The Andriod in HD2 needs seriously still updates, you do not have any sound, no YouTube playing, can not configure the data access to my phone service.... buf........... is like iPhone actually.....

you can find these tips on htc site :
Tips 1:
If you cannot see the HTC Sync option when you connect your phone to the computer via USB, please follow the
Instructions below:
1. Make sure you select USB Debugging in Settings > Applications > Development before connecting your phone to the computer
2. Connect you Phone to the PC and wait 20 seconds for your phone to install HTC Sync on your phone.
3. Unplug the USB sync cable. Wait for 5 seconds. Reconnect the Phone to the PC using the USB cable.
4. Select “HTC sync” and wait for HTC Sync to recognize your Phone. This process could take up to a minute your first
time connecting to the computer.

Few Pointers.
- make sure the android build you are using is a sense enabled build
- check with the android rom maker, if the HTC Sync functionality is supported by
the android ROM you are using.
- make sure you start the HTC syn app first and then connect the phone to ur pc.
Following the above, HTC sync should work straight off, once you put the phone in proper mode.
I have VBN ROM(Senseless) + Darkstone froyo(most complete ROM at the time,HTC Desire Build) and it works without any errors.
Hope this helps

Hi Kendimice, I can't download 3.0.5481, can you confirm the link? I have done the 3.0.5481 upgrade from 3.0.5422 and it fails to sync. It shows connect but simply sync nothing to my HD2_MDJ_DHD v4.1. Do you have any clue on this? I try uninstall 3.0.5481 and install back 3.0.5422 and reload MCCM DHD beta2 and it fail to recognize (it was ok before I try MDJ v4.1 and 3.0.5481 upgrading).

You can just download HTCSync from the htc website:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=324&cat=3&dl_id=1058
Atleast something!
I downloaded 3.0.5481 from HTC website without problem.
I'm surpized you can have "HTC Sync" in the USB options of a non sens build (but never checked).
You can check is adobe air has not been updated. I think the HTC software need it.
I always had problem under winmo (crash of outlook after sync).
Now it's working ok with Android.
My PC config is actually:
Win7 X64
Outlook 2010 x32
DAMO 8.0.2 IF6
HTC Sync 3.0.5481
Adobe Air 2.5.1.17730
My HD2:
MDJ FroYo Matted V1.4
Kernel MDJ 7.5HD
HTC Sync stopped working when I tested the 7.1 kernel (from 6.1 to 7.1).
Impossible to connect the phone again!!!
(I don't say it's a kernel problem... I just describe what happened).
I reinstalled Android (format SD, fresh instal but back to 6.1)... same (so I don't think it was due to the Kernel update).
So I format, reinstall my PC. Then Ok.
Since then, no problem even after the latest Adobe Air Update.
Sometime I have an error message like "can't update PIM" or something like this with HTC Sync. I just restart my laptop (for info I never restart the OS, just idle it... don't know how you call it in English... it's the sleep state of a laptop).
Hope this could help...
HTC Sync older version
Hey guys,
Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere here before, but I found out (as I already read elsewhere) that with some ROMs, HTC Sync only works when you use the older version of the software (so 3.0.5422 in stead of 3.0.5481).
It didn't work for me (no recognition pc>phone & vice versa) with the latest version, so I uninstalled it. Now with the older version of the software, syncing seems to work fine for me!
Hope this helps some of you....
regards,
J
Thanks, this is wonderful. I would like to try it!
Hello all,
Im trying to flash a new NAND ROM. The Mdeejay gingerbread rom.
But i cannot get an sync connection with my phone.
I flashed my first nand rom threw windows active sync, but obviously i dont have winmo no more.
Im currently on Gauners Desire HD NAND build.
I have installed the htc sync software (with anti-virus disabled), and when i connect my phone and set the connection to HTC sync, its starts searching for sync on my laptop. This takes a while and after that it basicly tells me that htc sync cannot be found on my laptop This happens when im actually looking at the htc sync software on my laptop.
Anybody has an idea what could be the problem?
Thanks
you have try htc sync for htc desire not hd2 sync soft
download from wwwhtc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=324&cat=3&dl_id=982
I am using the software for the htc desire.
I have latest htc sync software installed.
Anyone else?
Windows version installed? XP, Vista, 7, 32b/64b? Need more info.
First thing you can try, exit htc sync on your computer (Make sure you right click the taskbar icon, and choose exit. now connect phone by USB, when your phone asks what type connection, choose htc sync, the phone will now look for the software, while its looking, run htc sync, if all goes well, it should find it.
If that doesnt work, then my first sentence stands.
Ok i have manged to get a sync now, edditing some stuff in MSconfig
(im on windows 7 ultimate) So now i have my connection, but as soon as i try to update to MAGLDR111 threw romupdateutility.exe
it says it cant find a connection, anybody have any ideas?
Nevermind, got it this thread can be closed.
Thanks guys!
Hi guys sorry but before you close the thread, I am having the exact same problem.
I flashed my first NAND Rom from Cotulla which is working brilliantly so far. However I just wanted to try another ROM but I cant get my phone to SYNC with the computer. I am using the latest version of HTC Sync for Desire
Please note that I was previously able to sync just fine..
Now when I connect the phone to the computer it says CONNECTING.... for around a minute then it just says UNABLE TO FIND HTC SYNC ON YOUR PC.... even though i have HTC Sync Installed just fine.
I have Windows XP. I have tried restarting computer and phone. Also uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Sync several times but to no avail.
Please could someone help me.... or the original poster please tell me how he sorted out the problem
You dont need the sync i found out.
If you go into the normal bootloader (hold down volume button and powerbutton)
Connect your usb, wait for the bootloader to say USB, then update to MAGLDR 1.11, and done
then just (as usual) open the 4th option in the MAGLDR menu, and flash your new rom.
Have fun
I have magldr 1.11 and I have a problem with syncing my hd2. I go into magldr menu, choose no. 4, says usb...usb, but when I try to flash the new rom, it says error, no connection. Is there a solution for this?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I installed the magldr 1.12 and installed the WP7 successfuly. but when i try to flash a nand build android rom i get this error:
Error happen
Read below for more information
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723)
I am using windows xp.
I have an tmous hd2
magldr works like a charm for the wp7 flash.
I did search and tried all the suggestions i could find.
reformated my sd card with sdformat 3.0
i tried a couple diff. roms even the dft one. and cmylxgo
i went back to stock wm6.5.
task 29
installed magldr 1.11
installed diff. radios
removed my sdcard
i probably tried more but i can remember, ive been messing around with it for a while now.
Im going to go back to wp7 for now untill i find a wm6.5 rom i like.
Anybody have any more suggestions? would be much aperciatated. thanks in advance.

Same problem, but I've give him some advice. It worked for me, but not him. It's worth a try though.
Ok, thanks! that solved it.
I had that thread open in a new tab. i posted my thread at the same time you posted to disable it in active sync not task manager. sorry about the extra thread.
But i did try to disable active sync in the task manager.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just had to disable usb connections in active sync.
open up active sync,
click on file,
connections,
uncheck the box that says allow usb connections. no WM needed. at least not for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That should realy be in the MAGLDR thread. for us xp users.
Also, the program for cracking the windows live requires Vista or W7.
And to install zune you need at least sp3 on xp. i guess im a little out of date.
Thanks again.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I downloaded HTC sync but it does'nt sync my phone with PC. Of course you cannot use Activesync when you are using android as a core OS in your phone.
I want to flash my current rom that is CM7 android [2.3.4] typhonn v3.3.2 nightly.
(Using this rom i had alot of problems like Process stopped unexpectedly.) So i decided to flash rom but i can't, When i run radio flash Customruu.exe it say;
Error[202] connection, I used all proper methods, Power off phone, hold VOL down key entered into striped color window & connected USB with the device & pc. In the white screen it turned from serial to USB & after doing flash with customruu.exe always this error pops up & Pisses me off!

Hi,
It's not about USING ActiveSync to sync your phone.
ActiveSync contains the drivers used to connect phone to pc/laptop.
Same thing with WMDC.
So,all I'm saying is that ActiveSync or WMDC should be "installed" ,then the connection should be possible.
install droid explorer, it installs the driver needet
