Same problem, but I've give him some advice. It worked for me, but not him. It's worth a try though.

Ok, thanks! that solved it.
I had that thread open in a new tab. i posted my thread at the same time you posted to disable it in active sync not task manager. sorry about the extra thread.
But i did try to disable active sync in the task manager.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just had to disable usb connections in active sync.
open up active sync,
click on file,
connections,
uncheck the box that says allow usb connections. no WM needed. at least not for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That should realy be in the MAGLDR thread. for us xp users.
Also, the program for cracking the windows live requires Vista or W7.
And to install zune you need at least sp3 on xp. i guess im a little out of date.
Thanks again.

[Q] Can't sync

Hello all,
Im trying to flash a new NAND ROM. The Mdeejay gingerbread rom.
But i cannot get an sync connection with my phone.
I flashed my first nand rom threw windows active sync, but obviously i dont have winmo no more.
Im currently on Gauners Desire HD NAND build.
I have installed the htc sync software (with anti-virus disabled), and when i connect my phone and set the connection to HTC sync, its starts searching for sync on my laptop. This takes a while and after that it basicly tells me that htc sync cannot be found on my laptop This happens when im actually looking at the htc sync software on my laptop.
Anybody has an idea what could be the problem?
Thanks
you have try htc sync for htc desire not hd2 sync soft
download from wwwhtc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=324&cat=3&dl_id=982
I am using the software for the htc desire.
I have latest htc sync software installed.
Anyone else?
Windows version installed? XP, Vista, 7, 32b/64b? Need more info.
First thing you can try, exit htc sync on your computer (Make sure you right click the taskbar icon, and choose exit. now connect phone by USB, when your phone asks what type connection, choose htc sync, the phone will now look for the software, while its looking, run htc sync, if all goes well, it should find it.
If that doesnt work, then my first sentence stands.
Ok i have manged to get a sync now, edditing some stuff in MSconfig
(im on windows 7 ultimate) So now i have my connection, but as soon as i try to update to MAGLDR111 threw romupdateutility.exe
it says it cant find a connection, anybody have any ideas?
Nevermind, got it this thread can be closed.
Thanks guys!
Hi guys sorry but before you close the thread, I am having the exact same problem.
I flashed my first NAND Rom from Cotulla which is working brilliantly so far. However I just wanted to try another ROM but I cant get my phone to SYNC with the computer. I am using the latest version of HTC Sync for Desire
Please note that I was previously able to sync just fine..
Now when I connect the phone to the computer it says CONNECTING.... for around a minute then it just says UNABLE TO FIND HTC SYNC ON YOUR PC.... even though i have HTC Sync Installed just fine.
I have Windows XP. I have tried restarting computer and phone. Also uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Sync several times but to no avail.
Please could someone help me.... or the original poster please tell me how he sorted out the problem
You dont need the sync i found out.
If you go into the normal bootloader (hold down volume button and powerbutton)
Connect your usb, wait for the bootloader to say USB, then update to MAGLDR 1.11, and done
then just (as usual) open the 4th option in the MAGLDR menu, and flash your new rom.
Have fun
I have magldr 1.11 and I have a problem with syncing my hd2. I go into magldr menu, choose no. 4, says usb...usb, but when I try to flash the new rom, it says error, no connection. Is there a solution for this?

[Q] Problem flashing MDJ NAND

hey guys,
i gave windows phone 7 a try for some days, but now want to come back to android NAND.
Problem is that i can not flash the rom. i go into magldr, choose usb flasher, phone says wait USB...USB. i start install.exe and the android flasher hangs at "waiting for usb connection..." it fails with error description: usb init failed.
i flashed a win mobile 6.5 and started from the very beginning with new radio, reinstall magldr, format sd card...but still the same error!
can anyone help me please?
When you get the USB...USB appear, turn off USB connections with ActiveSync or WMDC. For some reason, it needs to be enabled to make the connection, but disabled to work!
Hope this helps.
hey,
thanks for reply...unfortunately it has no effect!
I am running WinXP, can this be the problem? But the Installer for Windows Phone 7 ROM, which looks predominantly the same for me, has no problems to establish the connection...i can start it right after the error message from android installer and it works...
i also tried another android NAND but comes to the same end. seems that i am forced to decide between winmobile 6.5 oder 7...no android anymore
It shouldn't be a problem. I did the same as you, but it worked fine for me. I flashed from WP7 straight to a NAND Android ROM, and I have XP as well.
Strange that disabling USB connections in ActiveSync didn't work, as I can reproduce the issue 100% and fix it 100% with that 1 setting.
I do know that lots of people have been reporting issues with the "usb init failed" error, so I guess you'll have to do some searching and reading.
what do you mean with disable usb connection in active sync? i could not find any icon in taskbar for active sync, so i killed every task with belongs to active sync?
hope the effect was the same
i will try it on another pc, maybe some adjustments are wrong on mine after flashing that lot...or i will come back to win phone 7 and try to flash android straight to that, just like you! hope one of it will work
Make sure ActiveSync is running and right-click it in the system tray and select "Connection settings". Make sure "Allow USB connections" is ticked. Then, start Magldr menu, select USB flasher and connect. It should say "USB...USB". When it does, reopen the connection settings for ActiveSync and turn off "Allow USB connections". You should then be able to flash Android.
Thanks for patience...you are the fu**ing man!!! IT WORKS!!! Thanks a lot...
But...what a mistake? who should know to unckeck that in active sync...
"The Devil is plugged in the Detail" we say in german free translation of me
Saved my day...thanks

try these
in win7/vista run application as administrator
in xp run as -> uncheck "protect my computer data..." or simpy run as administrator if you know your admin info
also if you are using active sync just make it so it doesnt allow usb connection (in active sync, file -> conn. settings -> there you will find it, just make sure its unchecked)
edit:
just remembered, before starting to flash dtf disable firewall and/or antivirus cause they can cause trouble as well
You have to disable USB connections in ActiveSync. Should work then.

What version of windows were you using that didn't work, and what version were you using that did?
win7 didn't work.
then when i tried win vista it worked perfectly..
then i tried with another usb port on win7 and it worked.
so the OS wasn't the problem .

are you running the exe as administrator? If not, try that way
yes I am running it as Administrator
When you connect to PC via USB does the word "serial" change to "USB" on the bootloader?
At what point on the process do you get this message?
I'm talking about the hspl process btw.
If you don't have the right hspl (2.08) nothing else will work.

Here is a few suggestions for the OP.
One try changing USB ports, try all ports on your computer.
Uninstall ActiveSync/WMDC and then reinstall it, make sure you download the latest vsrsion from Microsoft.
Try deleting all of your USB drivers and letting them reinstall when you connect your HD2 to your computer.
Try another USB cable if need be.
Finally try another computer if you can.
Create a Gold-card. It will bypass CID checks and allow you to flash. Just search for the topic here on XDA. If you can't get this resolved, I can also write a custom CID to the board via JTAG for you to fix this problem.
connexion2005 i will create a gold card and see if that works Thank you very much i will let you know if it doesn't work. how hard is it to create a CID?
Gold card :_(
The Gold Card is not doing anything, every time I do Vol Down and power the tricolor screen pops up and then goes to the white screen where it says "loading...." in blue but it doesn't move from there.... what should i do in that case?

so it goes to the tricolor screen and then goes to the page where it says it is loading and shows htc and the 0% bar and a few minutes later the computer shows that message and my phone stays at 0%.

I really hate to say it but I think you may have physical NAND problems. The NAND is where Windows Mobile or any OS that you flash to your HD2 is stored, or to help you understand it is where the ROM is flashed to when flashing a ROM. If the NAND chip has too many bad blocks it will not allow you to flash. seeimg as you have tried everything including a gold card, this is the only conclusion I can come up with. The only fix for a bad NAND chip is to replace the main board. Sorry to be the barrer of bad news.

Look in the HD2 Android Q&A and General foum or the HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A and General forum, I know I seen a thread on doing this in one of the two forums not too long ago. If you use search make sure to use advance search and select to only search thread titles, and if you can not find it through search than go page by page until you have went atleast 25 to 30 ages back just reading the thread titles. I am sure you can find it.

HD2 WP7 to Mango problems - 1198 error

Hello all, I have a T-Mobile HD2 with WP7 on it. I tried using the Mango update from elfinazz but I get the following error when running DWI.EXE.
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
HD2 has been running WP7 very stable for months, with Live services activated. When I originally put WP7 on it I installed MAGLDR 1.12. Today when I got the above error, I flashed it to 1.13 with no problems, so I think there might be a communications problem with DWI.EXE. I have also tried it on a different computer with the same results. I even tried downloading CustomRUU.exe and ran that from the folder.
When I connect my HD2 to USB, the message in the white area changes from serial to USB, so the phone is seeing the USB connection, but the computer doesn't. Also, if I run DWI.EXE and don't connect the HD2 I get the exact same error.
I am running it in administrator mode. Allow USB connections in Mobile Device center was checked at first, then I unchecked it. I can't find specific steps for upgrading from the original WP7 release to Mango, so I assume I am missing a step. I have been trying to get this working for a couple of hours now with no luck, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Solution ..
Hi, I had the same problem, don't worry its so easy to solve it
Reinstall or install depends the case the Windows Mobile Device Center, the same one you used with WM6.5 and the problem will be solved, why ? because this problem its a driver problem, if you are using windows 7 you need the drivers of your mobile, and this drivers will be given in Windows Mobile Device Center once you installed connect the mobile, will start to recognize the phone and drivers and then try to flash again ....
I had same problem and solved by doing this
Look at me desperate LOL
