[please help] low network signal _ tmob /europe - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello everyone, I've currently bought a T-mobile HD2 from america, and I'm now in Belgium (Europe). I've upgraded to android as soon as I got my phone. But now I've noticed that I'm getting low mobile antena. I'm always getting 2-3 bars and sometimes no signal. can this be related to the baseband version? Mine is: 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14 and in imilka's incredible sense v1.1
please help.

Do you get no service with this?

yes, sometime... but most of the time, I have only 2 bars of signal. I think it is a problem with baseband things. isn't it so?

I have the same problem in downtown Houston... but I've had it with all 4 carriers.
Outside of Downtown I haven't had any issues.
I see, but I never had slow connection here at my house.

Others have said there is a bug in the radio... maybe I skated by and missed out on that issue. I honestly don't know. All I can tell you is that I haven't had any problems outside the expected issues DT.
Im not a dev, but can a dev see this.problem over logcat?

No issues here works near perfectly!
The radio isn't as good as my G1 (with the latest radio update), but its not bad either.
I suggest trying a replacement from T-mobile. With the way electronics are made these days, you're more likely to have flawed hardware...

[Q]Phone randomly lost signal?

Hey guys, since last night at around 11, I lost all signal from my phone. I've tried rebooting, battery pulls, #*#*4636#*#* and nothing.
I'm currently running royal ginger 1.4.1 with faux's kernel.
any ideas?
nevermind guys! fixed the issue. Turns out, my sim is 6 years old so it finally died on me.
Lol it died? I've had the same similar for 4 years now and it hasn't died. Did you just take it in to the tmo store and they said its a dead sim?

They test it I had one die last month. Free replacements though and they have new ones out that are supposed to run faster and work better on 3g/4g

Is there anyway to check the life of one's sim card?
When you buy any 3g/4g phone they should have change your sim card out, if they didn't you should go back to tmobile and they should change your sim card without any problem. Just letting everybody know

Lol, me too.never had to reboot before.
Should I notice a difference in speed?
Only reason I ask is cause what my phone should do and what it actually does is way different sometimes.

Thanks
Still dreaming bout faster speeds.
I laugh when I see people saying they have slow speeds at 3 mbps down and 1-1.5 mbps up. And I get .15-.3 kbs down and up speed is usually double that, on a good day.
Anyway, just checking

PRL
(Preferred Roaming List)
The PRL is a list of information that resides in the memory of some kinds of digital phones. It lists the radio frequencies the phone can use in various geographic areas.
The part of the list for each area is ordered by the bands the phone should try to use first. Therefore it's a kind of priority list for which towers the phone should use.
The PRL helps determine which home-network towers to use, and also which towers belonging to other networks to use in roaming situations (areas where the home network has no coverage.) When roaming, the PRL may instruct the phone to use the network with the best roaming rate for the carrier, rather than the one with the strongest signal at the moment.
Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should, both with the home network and for roaming.

Try an app called telinfo in the app store. Go to the options and select LTE only. Hopefully that will solve the issue for you.

I had the same problem with dropping 4g.. This app works beautifully. Thanks for this.
4G is the same for me as with the Note 2. We live in a rural area, so an occasional switch to 3G is not unheard of. But 99% of the time, my 4G is solid.

Noticed when i use the app to set for LTE only that phone calls dont come thru. Calls goes straight to voice mail. Anybody else?
Quick bump... I'm having same issue as OP and the program doesn't work for me either.
A little update... I took my phone to verizon to swap out for a new phone because of constant 4g drops to 3g and 1x, Rep advised he had seen my problem fixed with a new sim card before. I hesitantly accepted to try it not thinking it would fix my problem but considered oh well if it does I wont have to setup a new phone so whats the worse that could happen. 5 days later im happy to report my 4g drops have been non existant. My 4g is as reliable as it was on my note 2.
Mine drops out on me on train ride where Verizon says it's supposed to have 4g. I'm not sure if it's supposed to since I never had Verizon until this phone release.
Is there an equivalent to At&t's Mark the Spot app that reports to Verizon dead zones and such?

No Internet connection during phone calls

shouldnt be the case, you can use 4g or wifi when on the phone, try it and see if works over wifi while on a call
Yes if you have no internet while on a call its because you are NOT on 4G, or WiFi.

You have 4G where you live but the phone is not receiving it. Perhaps there's something wrong with it's hardware.

That's because the s3 is able to use 3G and calling at the same time. The S4 doesn't have the hardware for it. Since you say you have 4G in your area, when you make a call are you connected to 4G or 3G?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
I have 4G when it does this and this was doing that right out the box before I rooted it so thought it was just how the s4 was until it was rooted

Well all I can tell you is it works great. I just tested it, my phone was showing LTE, I placed a call, and when I was on the call I opened up internet and surfed a couple of pages, ran a speed test, and surfed facebook. So it is definitely something you are doing. You mention you are rooted, did you install a custom rom, which one? Your S3 had SVDO chip which allowed simultaneous data(3g) and voice. Sprint or Samsung got cheap and didn't include SVDO with the S4 because they hoped LTE would be more widespread by the time the phone was sold.
I'm using Sacs custom rom 4.3

Double-check in your settings what mobile networks the phone can use. Specifically, make sure it's showing both CDMA AND LTE, and not just CDMA. For some reason, some ROMs default to just CDMA.
I did switch it it's still the same i don't know what it could be never had this problem before

Well, if that's the case then your phone is broken and you should take it to Sprint and have them replace it. Your phone should definitely be able to access data when on a phone call if you are on LTE or WiFi.

If you have the new tri-band model: SPH-L720T
Then you can not use LTE while on a call. I just found this out myself yesterday. I am a bit disappointed. on my old GS4 I could and this version I can not. I did use it maybe 2 or 3 times over the past year. Oh well.
