do you have linux dwll?
are you sure there is not more than just that error? there should be something more detailed above that error.
if that is all the error u are getting, redownload the file anyways to a new name, copy it to the phone after deleting the old one. maybe take a picture of the error screen?

2.2.1 SBF for Motorola Bravo

Anything YOU do to YOUR phone is not my fault, please proceed with caution
To apply:1. Download RSD Lite, Drivers, and .sbf files from below
2. Install RSD Lite
3. Open RSD Lite as administer (hold shift, right-click on RSD Lite, select Run as administer)
4. Unzip the .gz and extract the .sbf
5. In RSD Lite, browse for the .sbf and select it.
6. Power your phone into the bootloader (hold volume up and power on, should be a black screen with white text)
[If the bootloader screen says Cannot program, your battery is too low to apply .sbf]
7. Plug phone in and run the driver installer
8. RSD should recognize your phone now
9. Select you phone and press Start
10. Wait for it to finish
Whatever you do, do not unplug your phone from computer or disconnect them in any way
Note: If you bootloop and are stuck at the red M logo, you need to wipe data in stock recovery. To do that, hold the volume down button and continue holding it when you power up the phone. Then, once you see the triangle and android, press both volume buttons at the same time. After that, scroll down and select wipe data/factory reset.

No worries, dont wreck your phone people. I have a perfect brick to test this on.
If it works I will have my recovery done this weekend. This is what I have been waiting for.
This had better work!
Just talked with bandroidx, he says it works.
Yep SBF is as good as gold. Fixed my brick, is latest 2.2 and had the code group i needed. Woot!

Couldn't Update So I Used A Stock Froyo SBF and RSDLite 4.8
My Bravo was rooted. So, every time I tried to update it, I got the triangle/exclamation mark thing. There was probably a way around that, but I don't know enough about hacking phones.
Instead, I flashed (at least I think that it was a case of flashing some sort of ROM... I really don't know) a stock version of Android 2.2.1 onto my Bravo, and it worked like a charm.
Now I need to go about figuring out how to root it again, but that's a headache for another day...
I tried to post the link to the SBF download, but this forum wouldn't let me. So, you'll have to find it on your own.

Look on Youtube for this video "Flashing SPRecovery SBF File to a Motorola Droid."
I just used those instructions to install a stock Froyo SBF on my Bravo using RSD-Lite. Of course, when dude in the video says to press up on some button on the keypad, you will press up on the volume rocker instead.
I would post the link, but this thing won't allow it.

SuperOneClick to root it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 Download, follow instructions, pretty easy stuff, makes rooting much easier, worked for me on 2.2. Use psneuter option.
Also, there's a link at the beginning of this thread for the SBF, shouldn't be too hard to find it...

Yes, and I did follow all of the steps as they were written. I've been encountering the same problem ever since I received the message that there was an update available.
It keeps saying "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" whenever I try to run the installation (for the update).
For the RSD Lite program, I keep getting this error: "Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file. (0x7029); phone connected"
I have no idea what's wrong. I've tried every solution posted on this board as well as Motorola's site, AT&T's site, and countless hours spent searching Google for an answer/solution.

When you go into recovery mode and select install: update.zip, is "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" the only error that shows up?

Well, that's the first error to show up before I select "apply sdcard:update.zip"
After I select that, this is exactly what comes up:
-- Install from sdcard...
..Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to read footer from /sdcard/update.zip
(Is a directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
That's exactly everything that comes up when I select "apply sdcard:update.zip" at the Android system recovery <2e> screen.

A detailed guide of how to flash factory images manually. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
A more simplified guide of the above but still using ADB. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527142

Or, you can search in original android section for toolkits. However, it is best for you to learn how to use ADB rather than only relying on toolkits. It's like how you need to learn to count manually first before you're allowed to use calculator in school. :good:

Trying to install Echoe. E: Can't open. Installation aborted.

Hi, I'm very new to all this palava so any help whatsoever is appreciated.
Thus far, I've followed this video on YouTube about rooting my phone and installing CWM (youtube.com/watch?v=hUghV16l9d8). I've downloaded the latest Echoe file for my Note 3 (N9005) and dragged it to my external SD card. However, when I boot into recovery mode and choose zip from external card then press on "N3_Echoev13" it just comes up with "Finding update package... Opening update package... E:Can't open /storage/extSdCard/N3_Echoev13_22April2014.zip (bad) Installation aborted."
I realise this is most likely a complete noob error and I should be able to sort it but I'm tired and I just thought some kind folk over on this board would be happy to help me out.
Thanks.
Bad download ? Is there a md5 number provided on the rom thread ? I'm sure it is. Did you check it ?

When u download echoe, there's a md5 hash number.
Download md5 checker, browse the zip file, and check whether the checker result is the same with the one provided at echoe download page.
Sent from somewhere under the sky, at the corner of this rounded earth.
Downloaded md5 checker on my phone and it comes up with "d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e" yet on the Echo download page below the two links the md5 is "6A2B349A8602C1E75D951145F152C7AA".
I've re downloaded the ROM this morning again to see if that altered the md5 but nothing. Any light to shed guys?

I don't think the md5 provided on the site is wrong (or I might be wrong). Did you check a few last thread posts, if someone else is having such issues ?
There's really nothing else to do but to download it till the md5 matches.
And next time, always check the md5. The roms are big in size, so they can easily get corrupted during downloading.
P.S. I can't belive im spoon feeding you with such information. Must be something I smoked yesterday. :sly:

[Q] How to install ROM?

Hi,
I have the Motorola Defy MB525.
My parents and sister have recently changed their phones, so I have 3 Defys. I'm willing to try anything with them, I don't really care if they brick. I'd like to install Android 4.4 KitKat. They're currently running 2.2...
The one I'm using right now is rooted.
Whenever I try to install a ROM from the recovery screen, I get:
"Verifying update package...
..E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log"
Can anyone help me solve this problem?
Thanks,
MatB
...Great, I'm stuck in an endless boot animation... I guess I'll go on with the second Defy... Please help me!
