The Atrix is going to be selling in my country soon. Thing is the smartphone is the Atrix and not the Atrix 4G.
Im thinking about buying it but i need rooting to install applications outside android market and hdmi out. I wonder if the hacks for doing that on Atrix 4G will work with Atrix.
Whats the difference between 4g version and the regular version?

I dont know much, but it might be something cause the name is ME860 instead of MB860. As it might not be as popular as the Atrix 4G i wonder if the hacks for rooting this one will work with the regular one.

4g ? So this means it is diffirent hardware? Like the difference betwn gsm and cdma?

It's still GSM but supports the upcoming 4G LTE. It should work on European networks, but only at 2G speeds, just like the DHD works on US GSM networks.

Why not just release Desire HD for the whole world? Why restrict it to EU and then make a slightly different one with a different name for US? Weird... s:
Because North Americans like to be "unique"
Is not us north Americans who want to be unique, In this case AT&T wants to have its way as always and restrict the phone and add their usual brand crap. If only HTC would sell it US VERSION UNLOCKED I would pay 600 for it.
I think the mentality is different in the US. People don;t usually buy SIM free phones at the full price there. Most get locked in a contract in which you get a free phone.
Moreover, the US uses different 3G bands than the rest of the world (except Telstra).
HTC Inspire (AT&T) is in FACT a Desire HD (ACE).
There will be plenty of good firmware available for it, including CM7.

The inspire is not a desire HD, for starters its a 4G device, so it will need totally diffrent radios, as for roms, i wouldnt be suprised if it had a revised hardward setup meaning it will need its own roms...

Hi, Im looking to buy an Atrix, but here in my country I can buy an "Atrix" which according to GSMarena, its exactly the same as the Atrix 4G, except for 4G speeds and its not AT&T branded.
Would the roms for Atrix 4G would work in an Atrix?
Thanks in advance

As said by the poster above me, the Atrix 4G is the same phone as the MB860. Its called "4G" only because of a marketing trick in the US, its not really 4G.

Hey Guys,
Great deal on Ebay; there's droid incredibles that are refurbished (in B+ condition, I assume that it means near perfect but still a little handled)
for $105. Not a bad price for a phone.

The ebay description claims that it is locked to verizon,
I have never owned an CDMA phone so I don't know if XDA has ways to make it unlocked for any CDMA carrier
you can get it on other CDMA carriers (Cricket, Boost) pretty easily using EPST, but you cannot get it on any GSM carriers.

Yeah, I believe you can update it.
I think even the oldest android phone, the g1, can be updated to 2.3, so I don't think you have to worry about anything

Yeah, its definitely not a super new phone.
This is more of an "if you need a backup or international travel", and less of "hot of the press" deal
Well thats true i forgot about the global capabilities

If this was gsm id buy one.
I have a Motorola electrify (rebadged photon) this phone is a beast but due to locked bootloader, no cm9 for me. I want ics.... also Motorola has best signal. Home it bounces back and fourth between us cellular and roaming verizon towers, us cell (1x no bars @ -119db) verizon (3g full bars @ -79db) if I got a phone with weaker signal would I stay on verizon instead of getting no service on us cell, only way to make it go back to verizon is turn off, reboot. If getting a Samsung phone fixes this, I want a Samsung epic 4g with the QWERTY keyboard, and a way I seen somewhere online where an epic was put on us cellular.... Any decent, cheap epic 4gs out there? Frank or email me [email protected]

There are Epic 4Gs at Cowboom.com for $79.99
I bought mine there grade 5 and screen was flawless and not any noticeable scratches but YMMV.
I used coupon code Cowboom5 for $5 off, dunno if still works.

Haha, it was rooted before it came out. And check in Development subforum for all the ICS variations running on it with stability.

Locked bootloader? What's that? Is that some kind of new Pokemon?
Haha none of that over here friend.
Loving my cowboom photon im unlocked but for now I prefer gb roms until hw acceleration fully works. (Im a big gamer) I do miss the epic but signal quality and speed is sooo much better. I ran ics on my epic since febuary and it was surprisingly easy to go back to gb. I just miss chrome thats about it.
