[q] custom shoutcast stream player app needed from a dev - Android Software Development

Hi guyz, I run a web radio statio here www.radiofrequencyfm.co.uk playing good quality music mixed live by all the big dj's in our city. What i am looking for is someone that can develop me an app for our station that listeners can download for free or absolute minimal costs. Is there anyone who can dev the app for a very very cheap price or even free. I can get extra work that will pay from colleagues at other radio stations who are my good friends and can make you some money.
Please Help!!
Our music is Drum and Bass, Dubstep and other genres of UK Urban music.
Thanks for your time to read this.

MLB Gameday Mobile

The main reason I bought the Wing last year was so I could take advantage of MLB's Gameday Mobile deal and listen to baseball games at work. As far as I knew, all Windows Mobile phones had this capability. This year, however, it looks like they are doing a carrier-specific thing, with no decent phones on the list of supported devices. I am more than happy to ditch T-Mobile for another carrier if it means I can get the games, but I don't want to do it on a stinkin' RAZR or something else that doesn't do much else. Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem? I tried using Opera Mobile and hoping MLB would think I was a desktop PC trying to stream the games, but that didn't work. If anyone comes up with something, I would be eternally grateful.
I would guess that it's similar to the nfl network stuff for sprint.... although, you could always "stream" the games from your local radio station, if they allow it..

MLB is quite a bit more strict than NFL when it comes to streaming restrictions. I was able to stream football games through thestreamcenter.com but MLB enforces pretty thorough blackout restrictions so you can't capture a direct MMS stream or go through the Web site of the local station. They make you pay, which I did last year and am totally fine with doing, but not if it means giving up my beloved Wing for some crappy giveaway supported device on a supported carrier.
yeah, now that I think about it, I stream espn720 Los Angeles all the time, and they don't do Angel's games.
I just got a reply from MLB.com Mobile, saying that it will once again be available in time for the 2009 season. When it becomes available a link will appear on the mobile home page.
Huzzah!

I am playing it on my HD2 using Skyfire over 3G and even though is is straight from the website, the picture is not that bad ;-D
just seen your post man, Im still struggling to get this working. It "does play" in skyfire...but wow it is buggy as hell. Even over wifi (on my new hd2 )
It plays 100% on my mates gheyphone...which winds me up a little haha
I have nrgs rom installed which uses opera 10...but i read that you can use opera 9.7 with a flash fix...I wonder if that will make tvcatchup work with with opera rather than skyfire?
AAARRRGGHGHGHGHGHGHGHHGHGH
btw, sign up to the forum and show intrested in a windows mobile support/app
the more the better!
SPB TV, bro.
i seen that and another mobitv...but they seem to have the worst selection of tv channels

news
the wether
more news
some weather
are they any good? have you checked out tvcatchup...got it working on skyfire via wifi...3g is no use (at least in my area). it seems they made a specific app/page for iphone users...the stream is prob tailored to their device/resolution...half the size of the hd2 (?) so it will look/stream a lot better over 3g (or at least this is what i think?)

As one of the Admin of TVCatchup let's face the facts:
http://m.tvcatchup.com/ has 28 freeview channels, for most phones including Windows Mobile 6.0 + Yamgo has 4.
Yamgo's quality is like watching something from the 60's, that is allowing for bandwidth problems as well. TVC has it's own optimised page offering low and high quality options.
Yamgo spam everything and make false twitter and facebook accounts and generally pee off everyone. We never spam and have built our membership by word of mouth and reputation.
We have open and free help forums that deal with issues right away, I once sent a support email to Yamgo and got a response four days later.
Sounds petty I know but we are trying to provide a service par excellence and of course I am biased, but it peeves you off with shafters like this.
Rant over !

[Q] G2 and Pandora

Has anyone else noticed the terrible sound quality with Pandora on the G2?
Apparently there is a known issue with Pandora running on Froyo devices such as the EVO but an OTA update fixed this problem. (I had an HTC Evo so I would know)
I also had an Epic 4G running android 2.1 and Pandora sounded great. But now i'm back on another Froyo device and it sounds like crap.
The link below states there is a problem on Froyo devices but we need to contact a "Support Team" to get this fixed.
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/contents/10002.html
Any help related to this matter would be gladly appreciated.
This issue is not really on the Pandora team's hands, rather the handling of AAC+ by android 2.2. If you read around on here if you are rooted there are some temp changes you can make, but for the most part it's a waiting game for an OTA update for the G2 with this fix in it.. *shrug*
So I wrote a message to HTC regarding Pandora and Froyo on the G2 and HTC replied back with this...
Dear Steven,
I understand how important it is for your Pandora application to function properly and I apologize for any inconvenience and frustration this has caused you.
You will need to contact Pandora to inquire if an update will be released to resolve this issue. Since HTC does not support third party applications you will need to contact the manufacturer of the application for more information. An update was released for the EVO and the Nexus One however it was Pandora that released this update for the devices. Pandora will need to release another update for the G2 if necessary.
You may also need to check the Market for updates for the Pandora application.
Sincerely,
Kathleen
HTC
I wonder what Pandora is going to say when I email them
OK I thought it was just me that noticed--well I guess it's the phone itself.
Here was my setup:
I run my G2 through an 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male cable to my headunit aux port. The quality is pretty bad even with the High Quality on in Pandora. I'm comparing this to the Bold 9700 which I used to have and did the same thing. I'm not much of an audiophile but it doesn't take one to notice the difference in sound quality.
I wish my headunit had A2DP before I bought it. I didn't even think about that feature... :/
Edit:
I still have yet to try out regular MP3s on the G2 through the same setup but with the Media player. Haven't had the chance.
I used both Bluetooth and Headphone to listen to Pandora and thorugh both feeds the sound quality is bad.
I'm not audiophile either but like you said, it shouldn't take one to notice the difference in quality from other phones.
I had an iPhone 4 and the Samsung Epic 4G (Pre-froyo) and pandora sounded amazing on both of them.
I have a music streaming app as well and have found that in general 2.2 devices really hate to stream. Especially using 3g one stream in particular I am using will die instantly (throws serious error codes at me in logs) on a nexus using 3g but will last indefinitely using wifi. I hope there is an OTA to fix it because my boss is breathing down my neck
So I e-mail Pandora and they tell me that HTC has to release an OTA update.
I hate being given the run around. I Just hope there is a release soon or something is in the works to fix this.
My pandora streams sound pretty good, however I've only used it over Wi-fi..... havent tried it over 3G/4G.....
Yes the sound on Pandora is awful, I deleted it since I use Slacker more anyway. The sound from Slacker is perfect.

Q Use outside of America, Streaming Possibilities

Hey guys,
So I live in Bermuda (used to live in America, currently back and forth) and I was recently in San Fran and was just peeking around on Craigslist and happened on a Q from someone from Google I/O for $250 thought why not.
While I was in San Fran loved the Q for streaming my music its lovely and kinda worth the price tag just as a music streamer. IMO
I don't care to ever to build a digital media library with movies and TV shows from the Google playstore as I am sure most of you aren't either. (it's effin expensive).
I knew I would have to hack it for anything to work as intended which is fine.. i'm comfortable with that and anything 'Nexus" is usually open book anyway.
Which leads me to my question....Do you think that the nexus Q gonna ever be a streamer for content from PC to TV screem? Basically find the windows media server and stream movies? I currently use my playstation but Cinavia is annoying.
Thanks,
Short Answer:
Yes, I would fully expect PC streaming.
Long answer:
It appears like it is possible now, just not "elegant" yet.

I have the perfect device coming your way. I hope.

New Newbie (General Questions)

Hey. how are you guy doing. I am new to this and have a few questions. I feel the need to give some background. I am thinking of trying to cut the cable cord to save some cash.
1. Am I just going to be trading one bill for another equal bill?
2. I am thinking about going for the gusto and purchasing the Nvidia Shield Tv Because I have prime and it is supported. Is that a mistake?
3. I watch a few channels in my cable line up. HGTV, News stations, BET, Nat Geo, OWN network, and my local stations. I also like sports. Are these available and cost effective for this platform?
4. Can I DVR programs?
5. I have not played games in years, but I loved games like Metal Gear Solid, Hit Man, Tomb Raider. My hands are not good enough for the faster games anymore. Will I be able to play those and are emulators available?
Those are my concerns. Thanks for any help.

1. That all depends on you. You can add as many things as you want, and go well past your cable bill. Without knowing how much you are paying for cable, or what streaming services you are planning on getting, no one would know. But I will say, without spending a penny on a subscription, the shield can provide you plenty of entertainment.
2. Prime has a decent selection of entertainment. If you like their video on demand offerings, then you may be very satisfied. Their app works fine on SATV.
3. You will never get good live sports without some sort of subscription. And for most of these channels, you will need a cable log in. However, there are plenty of alternatives for things in the same genre's available on things like Netflix. If you want a free option, then Pluto TV is a good place to find certain shows that are similar to what you would find on those channels.
4. There are ways to get it working, but judging by the level of experience you are showing here, it's going to be tough.
5. Yes, it has many tomb raider games, you have paid options, and free options, but if you are into emulators, you should have more than enough gaming.
I think you might need to do more research into what the Shield is. It's just an android box. Your individual experience will vary widely depending on what you install on it. Out of the box, it won't be doing much of anything. Hope that makes sense.
