[CM7]Honeycomb/CM tablet tweaks [tt.RC2] 07.04.2011#2 - G Tablet Android Development

Looks like there's another GB w/TabTweaks...I tried it...didn't notice too much difference...but I didn't give it a full run because Corwin's works so well for me...but I will try it out next week. (going skiing in Mammoth this weekend )
I'm going to copy paste the entire OP...hope it's legal here:
From Nook Color Thread
------------------------------------------------------
Mod has been merged to CM7
This will be in each official cm7 nightly build now starting with nightly 37 onwards... even phone users will have parts of the tweaks in their options
About
This is work-in-progress of adding highly needed tablet options to cm7 before it gets stable. Once done, it will be merged and this thread used for further development.
Most ideas are inspired or directly taken from the functionality, google added to honeycomb. Thanks to the long discussion and great feedback of this community - without you, this mod wouldnt be that good at all.
tt.RC2?
its RC2 of tablet tweaks. if i had just called it RC2, people would have asked if it includes CM7 RC4 over and over.
This SHOULD be bugfree. if it is, the sources will be merged to cm sources very soon. this thread will stay open for further development. its not yet over i want to add more stuff - but to catch the cm7 stable release, we cannot include every feature right now.

"nightly" build based on latest sources. handle like any other nightly. flash without wipe. wipe only, if you encounter "strange issues" noone else encounters. if you look closely to the filename, you will figure out, all those numbers are in fact time and date. YYYYmmDD-HHMM. Sources checkout out of cm7 repo aprox. 30-60 minutes earlier.
all mods can be found in settings->cm settings->tablet tweaks
List of modifications (green = new since last build)
Toggle status bar top/bottom via cm settings. Changes position on the fly when setting is toggled.
Moved carrier and power notifications to bottom for bottom bar
Created "Tablet tweaks" menu in cm-settings root to gather all tablet related options in one place
Extended power menu with home/menu/back buttons. toggable on the fly via cm settings
Custom volume-long-press events (home/back/menu/call/end call/search/start-stop-music/next track/prev track/longpress home)
Added same options for both-volume-buttons press and long-press
Fixed status bar xml, so soft buttons now appear as big as the .png file is.
Solved issue about soft buttons not clickable. Their size is now determined smart by the real size of the buttons
Added option to move soft-buttons left or right
Added submenu to choose which soft buttons to display.
Added Quick-Notification-Area-Soft-Button - instantly opens/closes notification area since swiping it open is a long way on tablets
Added a Dead-Zone option, so the middle of the status bar is not clickable. Happend a lot before people click it when trying to hit space
New graphics from Drakknar in extended power menu - thanks!
Added option to toggle extended power items seperatly
Added option to reverse power button behavior (switch short-press with long-press action)
Cleaned up the options and created new submenu
complelty rewrote volume button handling to handle all our new demands
integrated Drakknars great new design and wrote code for it
lotsa tiny fixes / bugfixes
Added option to disable/override fullscreen
Added option to disable lockscreen
Disabled the animated text for ongoing notifications when softbuttons enabled. this "ticker" did hide the soft buttons for a short while
Used same status bar size for nook color than for vega now. buttons should be bigger and not stretched this way. awaiting complaints about status bar too big
added hdpi icons for resized statusbar via overlay for vega and encore this way, status bar items dont look blury anymore
added search button to list of soft-buttons - its off by default
added long-press to home, back and search soft-button
extended fullscreen handling: when a fullscreen app is running, an additional
hide-softbutton is displayed. once pressed, the app gets real fullscreen
added option to choose unhide button for fullscreen
improved hide-button handling for special situation, like app-starting-app (i.e. astro file mananger starting movie player, which does fullscreen request) and more
Bugfix release #1
Bugfix release #2 (aka tt.RC1) removed volume remapping for cm7stable, because source of too many possible bugs considering all the uses of volume buttons + lockscreen disable + reverse
code cleanup - moved most stuff to Cm classes (CmSystem, CmPhoneWindowManager, CmStatusBarView, CmButtonTracker) - am satisfied with the code now
improved fullscreen overriding in Window class. not only setFlags, but also setAttributes is intercepted now
modified stock terminal emulator, so it doesnt crash the system anymore, when disable-fullscreen is selected
further improved fullscreen handling after all feedback i got. RC2 and probably merge ready code
Where is the volume remapping?
Its disabled for cm7 stable release. it will be re-enabled in cm71 nightlies. The reason is simple: its a very BIG source of possible bugs. we got volume buttons to silence phone calls, to control mp3's when screen is off, we got lockscreen disabling and we got reverse behavior of volume buttons - this is toooo much in the short time left until cm7 stable - i dont wanna be the dude who is responsible for an unstable release.
Tips
to use back long-press, go to settings->applications->development->stop-app-via-long-press
to use search long-press go to settings->cm settings->input->search-key-behavior
Nook only: If Bluetooth does not turn on, power off the nook color and turn it back on. Do not select reboot from the power menu. This is not connected to my modifications, but a often discovered cm problem on nook color. Thanks to KitF for this hint.
A better task manager? install free "task switcher" from market. on next home click, select adw as usual as standard home action. go to settings->cm settings->input->long-press home settings - select use custom application. as application, select task switcher. if you long press home now, you get a nice task switcher with recent apps instead of the build in solution.
Nook only: Have to enable wifi on each boot? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1310
bugs to fix
all bugs should be fixed with RC2 - details at http://kan.gd/3vb
List of known, unfriendly apps
Note: these apps break google's API in one or another way, and so are not compatible with our fullscreen handling. hopes are, they get fixed for honeycomb, and then work here, too
Clock and calendar popups: Handle fullscreen theirself - and fail!
Kindle App: Handles fullscreen itself without request - and fails!
pocket legends: does not resize when hide status bar is executed
quick office / quick office HD: overrides fullscreen handling - does it itself and fails.
cnn news app - also handles fullscreen "its own way" and fails - hides statusbar in any way
power amp - has problems with bottom status bar
Whats next?
hopefully merging this night.
Disclaimer
I am not a cook. I am a cyanogenmod dev and member of teamdouche. i dont intend to build roms, once this project is merged to cm-sources. i only do this openly for two reasons: for one, i think, feedback improves code quality. Second, its not much time until cm7stable - i need as many testers as i can get so this will get bugfree.
Credits
Thanks to Drakknar, who did all the graphics involved. Again, he did great work. I love team-working with him. We already did the new lockscreens.
Thanks to Samuel Halff <[email protected]>, who not only inspired all this, but also did a rough first version of bottom status bar. Without his initial work on the idea and on the CM-Crew (telling us, this is absolutly needed), this patch wouldnt exist.
Thanks to the Nook Color community, for mental support, feedback and the help on getting a tablet for me. Without it, i couldnt do this at all.

Hello spiders
my real name is sven dawitz and i hope, mentioning this here, shows up this thread above all the disgusting ultimate droid links on my google results

This project has been merged in to CM now and is part of nightly build 37.

I just flashed this over a nightly and everything seems to work except the Market won't open. It flashes up for a second and then closes automatically with no error or force close message. Anyone else experience this?

You probably have to reload gapps and start over...it happened to me when I went between this and Corwin's

Been using this about 24 hours and Gtablet really performs well with this ROM. Also just flashed my Nook Color with nightly 37 and it seems to be good too. Been using this ROM on my Nook for about 4 days and really loving it, especially the bottom notification bar with soft buttons.

Does anyone know if Pershoot's kernel could or should be used with this CM7 ROM? Would it improve performance and/or other things??

That did it. Re-installed gapps, logged in, cleared the cache for the market and now its all back.

ive had great luck... havnt had a single complaint.

So all I have to do is install the rom from the gtab link... or is this in addition to something?
Also pqrs, what wifi widget is that?

How did you flash this? Did you do all the wiping data, cache, dalvik cache,,,then install like normal and then the gapps? I did that and it is a great rom but noticed my tab would shut off when it sleep for a few mins and i had to reboot??

Working so far...
I have the latest build running with Clemsyn's kernel 9 (I hate dealing with loadable kernel modules). The tablet is running real nice right now.
The only way I got this on my gTab was to nvflash back to original, blowing away CWM in the process, reload CWM, use Calkulin's format to clear away the nasty Tap'nTap stuff, then load the ROM, reboot, load the kernel (clearing cache and Davlik cache), reboot, the finally flash GAPPS to it.
I don't know enough to tell you why I had to do this. I was coming from Vegan5.1.1 originally and no GB ROM would flash properly (got stuck at Android screen - always, with AOSP Vanilla, G-Harmony 2.2, and this CM nightly) until I hit upon the sequence above.
Everything seems to be working so far... the minor bumps (like GAPPS installing everything but GMail) have cleared after reboots.

So no weird reboots or wifi problems?

i came from vegan 7 so maybe it was an easy transition? i didnt have any of the trouble flashing that as others have... i just did the normal wiping and it worked great. gingerbread roms havnt been any different for me to flash?
the wifi widget is called wifi signal widget. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cls.wificls&feature=search_result
my online market even works, i can send apps to my tablet with this rom! thats a bonus to me...

Murdock's work has been merged in and now in the CM7 nightlies
There is a minor bug with the cyanogenmod website, however. If you navigate to the standard download locations, you won't see anything available. The url has the name viewsonic instead of the device codename harmony. Click on harmony on the left side list and you'll find the gTab CM7 nightly build.
I have not been having any issues, although some people have reported that there are issues with sdcard mounting and some FCs if they change the theme. I've kept the theme stock.
My only complaint is a bug that seems to be in CM7 at the moment where when waking up from sleep you need to start the WiFi again manually. Also, I'm not sure how to get a tun.ko module for this build.

wifi doesn't work... at all. it connects, but nothing works. flashed twice after full wipes, nothing. doesn't make much sense to me... has ANYONE had this happen? i went back to vegan 5.11 and poof -- no more issues.

Is hardware acceleration for Flash enabled on this ROM?
I came over from the Nook (Encore) not so long ago and only software-based rendering was possible there, so I am wondering is thing are better on the Harmony front.

Been running this for about 5 days. Best rom for me so far. Loaded pershoots kernel and cifs module. Perfect.

From erishasnobattery:
We will keep all bugs/fixes updated in the first few posts here.
Please, post a bug once. If you have a potential fix, PM me. I will test it and get it added to this post.
Let's not have a repeat of last time. If you can't use the search function, don't use our ROMs.
Also, if it's not posted in one of our posts, it's not an approved mod. We take absolutely zero responsibility for anything that happens.
Known Issues:
There numerous graphical bugs, such as misalignment and colors being off. Please, unless it is affecting the usability of the phone, don't post them. (We are squashing these as time goes)
Pin screen and password unlock screen are sized incorrectly
Some fonts/images may appear a little fuzzy on the home screens. At this point, with the tools available, there isn't much we can do with it.
No Verizon VM notfications. Base ROM issue. It won't be fixed without a new leak.
Force close in music app. (trouble reproducing)
[*]Camcorder only supports up to 14mbps recording. Anything higher will cause it to close. To be included with RC4.
No .wma Playback.
G-sensor Calibration Issue - Kernel Related. (Talk to your friendly kernel devs)
[Watch app not working quite right yet.
Bad strings in the Calendar Widget. (trouble reproducing)
Twitter causing FC on phone calls.
Speed dial 2 now selectable, but only dials 2....
Car dock needs a bit more love.
If your screen is staying off, slow to turn back on, general weirdness when coming off a sleep state, try increasing your minimum clock speed. I have the best balance or performance/battery at 368/368 for screen off and 368/1.2 normal.
The Manage applications page is freaking out. See Below.
Patches:

Disable wake on Volume Courtesy of bp328i.
Looking for Netflix, My Verizon, or VVM? Arcanexvi put this little thread together to keep them all current and working for everyone.
Free scrolling app drawer, courtesy of ihtfp
Help! My Manage Applications page is freaking out!
The base leak, for whatever reason, has a serious problem with populating the applications list.
At the bottom of the screen, there is a 2 tone gray and green bar. There is a small animation that appears once everything is loaded above the gray portion.
DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT, modify any apps in any way shape or form if this has not appeared. Do not force stop, uninstall, clear data, or clear cache when they are flickering. This means the package has not been fully loaded and linked. You might think you are clearing data on Angry birds when in fact it is Accounts and settings.
I got a little overzealous on one last night and ended up having to do a complete wipe and reinstall.

[Q] Touch key backlight notification not working / gapps

Hi all,
I very recently added a Galaxy Note to my collection, coming from an SGS. I did the latest July 4th nightly install, following the instructions to the letter. I have a couple of questions though :
- Although I did the factory wipe (once again, followed the instructions to the letter) after installing gapps, I had none of the gapps installed. So I just installed gmail, gmaps manually, and stuff seems to be working (calendar is synching). Is that a big deal? Expected to happen? I tried March and April versions of gapps, each time doing a full wipe and reflashing the lot...
- Second point, also confusing. On my SGS my buttons to and from the home key (touch key backlight) light up when I get a missed call or received an email. On the Note, the settings are identical, i.e. to notify of any incoming email. The sound notification works fine, so does the icon at the top of the taskbar, however my buttons don't light up. Any idea why? And how I can fix this? It's such a useful feature...
Hopefully those two items are not related, but I don't know for sure...
Many thanks,
Tony
Well I think I have the response for one of my questions :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698175
My apologies for not seeing this. I did do a search but only just found this post.
It looks light the CM9 ROM has the option of backlighting the touch keys, supports it well on SGS, but hasn't bothered integrating it in the kernel for the Note, unless I'm mistaken.
I guess this means my questions aren't related.
I believe you are looking for backlight notifications, BLN, which makes the keys blink when a new message, missed call or a mail has arrived... Correct?
It depends on what kernel and rom you use. The kernel must include BLN and must work with the rom you are using.
I put out a bounty for the person bringing BLN to my Note in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749078
There's only a very few kernels with BLN
Feel free to back me up in my thread

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

The Devil Kernel included is the one with Voodoo Color. You can control it with the Voodoo Color app or the Devil Kernel Config App.
The CMC (Cyanagenmod Color) version is available here. Select the one with CMC in the name.
Very interested in trying this, and i know that i can just install it and see for myself, But before I do; Does this lag alot? All the fancy stuff seems like it might bog down our "ancient" devices.

It didn't lag on ics. If you go check out my old port, a bunch of people say its really fast. Every thing is done in the coding, so it should be fast plus you got project butter on your side

Sounds like it may have had an issue mounting /data try flashing a different kernel like semaphore to see if that fixes it.
If not look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21439417
Color me really impressed. I really like the interface on this, and the lag seems to be on par as to current state of cm10.
QUESTION: the themes that are linked above, can we use them with the captivate?
I´ve been on Paranoid before but I've been on this version and semaphore kernel for a day. At first the phone worked impressivly fast. Faster than my previous JB setups and even faster than GB. I don't know why but the it has become slower and now is on par with Helly Bean with Devil's Kernel.
It appears to me that the lack of datadata partition doesn't affect the performance at all, because Helly Bean uses that partition and Paranoid don't.
The interface for adjusting the paranoid settings is excellent. In the beginnig it used to be a little bit tricky but now has evolved to a wizard who guides you along the process with really clear explanation and images.
The battery life has been great for me, losing 1% an hour on stand by and with good results while the screen is on.
The media issue is still there but its a CM10 thing, not specifically Paranoid related.
Somehow the search hardware isn´t recognized properly. It does nothing when pressed and doesn't show on the hardware key settings. This issues was present on one of the Helly Bean test builds , but was resolved in the latest release.
It's a great ROM overall and the posibilities bringed by the hybrid mode makes it stand out. Thanks a lot for the actualized port. Keep 'em coming!

I follow the instructions again, and re-do the flashing one more time.
Everything works flawlessly. Now, I need some time to stress test it.
I am on Roger's Captivate, no front camera.
First issue: Camera. Taking pics fine. all settings are fine, except the switch of camera (front and back).
As soon as that option is selected, the gallery stops. From then on, camera is not functional. Have to reset.
Great selection of language UI. That covers most of ethnic groups. A++
Is there any way that I can flash those additional language into other ROM in another phone, say: SGS II or III?
When I first installed it, i plugged my phone into my computer when the phone booted up and the option to connect USB to pc showed up, after a restart, it no longer does that. I love this rom, I've been on the PA ICS for a while and this is super fast, almost exactly as smooth as the ICS one, new fav rom!
...But please help about the pc connect thingy

It you toggle the camera (back to front) it will cause force close as the i897 has no front camera. The only way I've been able to get gallery working again is to go into app info > gallery > force stop / clear data.
To my knowledge UI languages have to be compiled with the ROM.

The themes should be usable with paranoid Android regardless of the device. However I have not tested them yet so use at your own risk.

I will look into the Helly Bean build and see if I can get his fix working on this.
SIM recognition
With you ROM installed, the SIM (Rogers) is not recognized regardless of network/carrier setup.
But with Helly Bean, it gets the carrier right away.
Wifi Tethering
Working?

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][Oreo 8.1] CypherOS 6.0.0 [h901] 5/6/2018

This has reached a point that those who don't depend BT calling may be able to use it as a daily driver. Just be sure to backup first!
The flashing on first boot during setup may cause issues for those with epilepsy. This is due to how to disable the second screen.
Working:
Camera! https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.7Beta2.apk is recommended with Nexus 6 HDR config in advanced settings.
Bluetooth (skips with wifi, and doesn't work in call)
NFC
Wifi -- two users have reported issues on their devices, while it works for others.
GPS
Sensors
Sound
Calls
Fingerprint
Data
WiFi tethering
Second screen disable hack
Not working and issues:
Screen glitches on first boot. Reboot and will be good after (part of hack to disable 2nd screen)
Tap to wake
Flashlight tile: install flashlight tile for kenzo in play store with root to workaround.
Slight animation glitch when switching activities due to second screen hack.
BT issues above, and doesn't work in call.
If you use camera immediately after turning on, it may not work. You must wait about a minute after powering for it to work (it will always work after).
Probably more.
TODO
BT fixes
Tap to wake
flashlight tile
get a proper 2nd screen fix like v20 working without additional issues. v20 dtsi hack doesn't work for us due to dual panel depending on partial update (most likely).
Repos (kernel is lineage-15.1 branch):
Kernel
v10-common
h901
blobs
Changes from AOSCP
Using Ruthless launcher instead of Luna
Two reverts to support substratum themes in addition to CypherOS' color manager.
Use opengapps for gapps, magisk for superuser (may have issues with modules).
Download
Buy me a beer with Bitcoin: 1h9o1Ei9thLd8JKRz3z7PUGhX6dtfnktY
Bugs with workarounds:
Wifi doesn't connect and MAC address is all zeroes (only some users):
This is a misc partition that has MAC address hardcoded to a randomly generated address. This should work permanently on any device with the issue so long as two aren't on the same network. If anyone would like instructions on how to modify with a new MAC address, let me know.
Image https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056033811
Instructions:
Place on /sdcard
Reboot to recovery (for advanced reboot in CypherOS hold reboot button for full menu)
From twrp terminal or adb shell, run: dd if=/sdcard/misc.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc
Reboot and enjoy fixed wifi
No charging indicator (but still charges):
Boot device plugged into power or USB and the indicator will work the entire power cycle. Working on a fix but not as trivial as I'd hoped.
Bootloop bug:
I recently got hit by the infinite bootloop bug, with the only workaround of disabling the big cluster. Here's a modified TWRP that only uses the little cluster (used Eliminator74's image):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056035329
And here's a little cluster only boot image from the titan kernel (our CAF kernel has msm_thermal issues with booting with disabled big cores, needs modifications):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=674106145207491774
Just uploaded a new build with the second screen backlight bleed fixed (from v20 for liblights).
Recently bluetooth was broken, and I need to debug further. In addition, the future builds (not yet posted) will be using the "lineage-15.1" branch of the kernel. I had based the kernel for this rom off the g4 cypheros kernel, but that Titan kernel is very buggy and has far worse performance (jittery mess compared to los 14.1, realized it's kernel not rom). The kernel also had very bad data corruption issues (also documented on g4).
Man thanks for working on our near forgotten devices. I cannot test this much ATM until things get a tad more stable, but you have my attention!
Just uploaded a new build. This is using the lineage-15 kernel branch on my github, which has CAF merged in and is buttery smooth compared to the Titan kernel .
BT is now back to the g4 state at least (fixed for music, still has some issues), and incall mic is now working correctly (updated mixer_paths.xml).
For me this is a daily driver now, but I also don't need fingerprint, nfc, or some other functionality that is no doubt broken (not sure yet due to minimal testing). Enjoy!
PS: due to all lg v10 now being unlockable, I'll be doing some test builds for the other variants in the next few days..
Downloaded the rom on my H901 and flashed it. It seems to work okay, there were some screen issues during the initial setup. The rom seems nice but with some issues (like the ones mentioned above - missing second screen, etc). The screen is shifted down so I can barely see the navigation bar. If ya need some testing of some options, settings, etc - let me know.

adb shell wm size 1440x2560

Thanks!. the screen now fits. However, I did seem to find another issue. Not sure why, but when I try to tap on the navbar buttons, only the upper half of that area works and the bottom half doesn't. Same thing happens with the statusbar. I think changing the screen size (or whatever else it could be) is making it so that the touch area is also reduced. I tried restarting it, but it still does it. Still usable but then that means i have to pay attention when I tap on the home button.

Thank you for bringing this up. I had forgotten and got used to it early on. I'll fix this today.
Just uploaded a new build. Changes:
Tweaked touch offset
Synced CypherOS to 6.0.0 (fixes navbar on first boot and removes some features)
Fixed init script to set display res (part of the second screen disable hack)
Updated Ruthless Launcher
Will give this a try with my V10 since I don't use it as a daily driver, can play around with it. Shame they couldn't get the 2nd running properly but no biggie. Also what firmware is recommended for this? Here is a pic of the current software/firmware it has
Edit: sorry about the pic, shows up portrait in my gallery but landscape on here
Update: after wiping in TWRP (v 3.0.2-0), install gave me an error 7

Second screen is in the works for lineage on the v20, which we'll be able to use when it's ready ?.
Try twrp 3.2.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/development/twrp-3-2-1-h901-t3765971
Much thanks. Will give it a try and see.
Update: bingo, that did the trick ?
Probably sticking with stock rom on my v20. I rely on the Google certification for Netflix and my banking. Only have it rooted with magisk and no modules downloaded, passes safety net.

Lots of flashing graphical glitches and static screen. Using ruthless launcher, will test some more out

The navbar button one is weird and not as trivial as I'd hoped (but an issue with the 2nd screen hack). Regarding the glitches they shouldn't appear after the first reboot (in issues in OP).
May be all related to the whole screen aspect, when I try to swipe down the notifications bar, have to start the swipe gesture almost halfway down the status bar. With stock rom, youre usually able to start your swipe down gesture from the 2nd screen area.

It is. The touchscreen is disabled in the second screen portion of the display. The v20 style disable hack doesn't work for our panels, but they also disable the touchscreen in the second screen.
For that functionality, the best hope we have is the work into lineage second screen work being done for v20 which we'll be able to use.
Wow, this is a giant step for us H901 users!
Going to DL and test.
Am I able to revert back to my current ROM after testing this?

Yes, be sure to fully backup in TWRP prior to flashing, and then you'll be able to restore if the current issues are too great for you. You'll even be able to backup this ROM after flashing and setting up to switch between them as v10 issues are tackled.
On another note, I think I may have finally found the issue with the touchscreen offset (bottom half of navbar not working) I'll be testing today.
New build uploaded. Changes:
- Fixed touchscreen alignment. Bottom of navbar now works.
- Synced with upstream CypherOS
- Testing navbar theme settings from gerrit.

Peloton Split Screen Enabled

Since the Peloton tablet runs android N, and multi-window support is native to android N, I figured it was just a matter of enabling the "recent" button which is hidden by default. Sure enough.....

Within a couple steps, some sideloaded apks, and some quick configuration, you can watch Netflix (or any app) and have your workout stats clearly in view (you can do a class or scenic ride, but the sound will play for both).
Basically, all we are doing is installing apks via adb including an app that adds a button to the navigation bar. Once that's done, we're adding a button to the navigation bar that brings up 'recent apps'. Then it's just a matter of scrolling through your open apps, long-pressing one, and dragging it to the side so that its 'pinned' then doing the same thing to the other side of the screen.
Following these steps should in no way change the core functionality of your Peloton and everything you do can be undone by performing a factory reset.
I'll try to step this through as best I can without any screenshots. This assumes you have working ADB installed and know how to use it.
1) Enable 'USB Debugging
-Use "Method 2" in the link below to enable USB debugging (ignore the wording, you're not 'rooting' anything)
-Follow their Netflix install tutorial for a trial run
https://www.reddit.com/r/pelotoncycle/wiki/index/howto/root
2) To access your installed apps
"Each time you want to watch netflix or run any app you've loaded, do the following:
On the peloton screen make sure you are logged in.
Tap the three dots in the bottom right hand side and then tap about. An info box should show up on the screen.
In rapid succession, tap just inside the bottom right corner of the info box like 10 times or so. A black screen should come up showing all installed APKs."
3) Once you've logged into Netflix and verified all is working, find the apk for "Custom Navigation Bar". The Google Play link is below, but you'll need to download the apk from another site
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.paphonb.systemuituner
4) Install the apk in the same manner you installed Netflix (or any other apk)
5) This app does require specific permissions. While still connected to ADB, use the following command:
Code:
adb shell pm grant xyz.paphonb.systemuituner android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
6) Now access the app "Custom Navigation Bar" using the process from step 2 above (you'll have to step through a few welcome screens)
-Scroll down to "Extra Left Button"
-Under "Type" choose "Keycode"
-Choose an icon (so you can see the button)
-Under "Keycode" choose "App Switch"
7) On the far left of your navigation bar, you should see a new button. Pressing it will bring up your recent apps list
8) Scroll through your open apps and long press the title bar of the one you want
9) You should see 2 bars on either side of the screen, drag your app to the side you want
10) Scroll through your list again until you find the "Peloton" app and select it
11) Drag the slider in the middle of the screen to make one app bigger or smaller
And that's it!
Disclaimer - I've been an XDA leech for a long time, so when I do figure something out, I like to share it with the community. But this is just what worked for me. I've done no testing and do not guarantee it will work for everyone nor can I be held responsible if something adverse happens to your device as a result.
Hi wolfebaine,
thanks a lot for this great guide !
Every worked fine - except one thing:
when I longpressed Netflix title bar a message pops up "Screen split not supported in this app".
I was able to get around this by activating activities to be resizable in developer settings as i.e. described here: https://www.howtogeek.com/273409/how-to-enable-split-screen-for-any-app-in-android-nougat/
Now I have both apps Netflix and Peloton side-by-side on the screen, but only one apps seems to be able to provide video: as soon as I start Netflix, e.g. the scenic ride stops (same with normal spinning courses, but this is a crazy use case with Netflix at the same time ).
And when I try to slide the split so Peleton gets smaller a running "Just ride" stops (it's paused and can be restarted, but is some where in the background).
So it's only works with 50/50% screen split.
Is that also true for your installation ?
Thanks for sharing the info!
I got mine working. There are a few new tricks to get everything working, I'll post more info later.
Just wondering if you've figured out how to get the workouts to not reset when you click away from the workout? If I try to interact with the second screen the workout always gets paused/put in the background.
I've got a few ideas, but thought I'd post here to possibly figure it out faster.

Hi there,
Not sure if the original poster will still see this. I’ve installed all the apps necessary. Under setting >> App, I can see the app I’ve installed. However when heading to the “about” page, after clicking few times, it only shows the Web Browser Test. Any clue?
I noticed that a little while ago following an update. Since I already had everything installed it didn't really affect me.
But try this. Under app setting go into Nova launcher and scroll down to home app.
Select Nova launcher add your home app and hit the P button on your navigation bar. That should get your to the point that you can set everything up
To get back to that screen from peloton, you just have to go to settings, device settings, and hit the P

Hi Wolfbanie,
Thanks for your quick reply! I’ve seen a post talking about this back in Jan 2021. Tried to follow that without any luck. I couldn’t find the app setting or nova launcher anymore. Maybe because I just recently got the bike that peloton has blocked all these ways?
Hello,

Apparently even if you install them successful, it doesn’t appear in the app anymore. I’m also waiting for a solution too.

do you have active Peloton subscription? If not you will not be able to install apk packages other than signed by Peloton. You can just take membership for 1 month and install apk packages and cancel it after that.
btw, I was able to get split screen but was unable get peloton app in split screen as it now requires full screen. Any other apps side by side are kinda of no use.

I found a workaround for this. You have to go to:
Settings > Apps
Then click the app Nova, Custom Nav Bar, etc...
At the bottom, you click "Advanced", then "Additional App Settings". It will launch the app.
This worked for both custom nav bar and nova. Alternately, the first time you click the P logo in the middle it will ask which launcher you want to open (Peloton, Nova).
Be aware that Netflix last supported split screen in V7.64.0. Referencing an article, I downloaded the release below and split screen didn't work. I downloaded an even earlier Netflix release, from the link above that OP included, split screen STILL didn't work. I'm not sure how this app can have split screen disabled even though it was natively supported before. Maybe it has something to do with the Peloton android version.

If not possible I might as well just hang an ipad over the screen and use the peloton app that way with the just ride metrics below it on the main screen.
Is that your vid on YouTube? Great Vid. I wasn’t able to get past switching the left button to “app switch” as I see no option for “app switch” on my menus. =(
And to confirm, yes you need the All access membership to be able to side load and use adb for those that are wondering.
you need an active membership to do this . this should be STEP 1
Does this work for anyone still? I have a Bike+ running Android 10, everything works fine but I can't get past the Custom Navigation Bar compatibility test, it never changes the bar to the -> to continue.
I ran the adb permissions command, is there a way to verify if the permissions were applied? It didn't throw an error.

As far as I can tell the recent update broke it.
I have tried ADB commands and still can't get the recents screen to even open.
Same for me, looks like recent update broke it as well. It removed the MENU command for me. I don’t want to attempt anything until I see someone get it to work.

The update removed the the option for the nova launcher or just the split screen feature ?
Honestly the split feature is ok .. but not very useful since you can’t play videos on both sides and it only split vertically not horizontally … it would be good to see cadence and resistance in the bottom and the class or Netflix on top .. but vertically make it not as good

I wonder if anyone tried to root the tablet using kingroot or any rooting method .
Pretty sure any rooting would get you flagged hard.
I messed around some more and was able to get split screen to happen randomly but it would result in one side being unresponsive so it was useless.
