[Q] Faulty P3450 - Touch GSM General

OK, this phone has been nothing but great for the 4 years Ive had it (I know its old but I have no replacement phone ATM) I have recently updated it to 6.5x and after i thought 'oh this ROM is awesome!' I drop the phone!!
Ever since the 'Accident' it just wont turn on... So I got really annoyed and gave it a smack with my hand and it switched on! But for some odd reason it wont get passed the boot screen! Ones the Windows splash comes on it will just switch itself off???
I have some weird suspicion that it has something to do with the RAM considering it is failing to boot Windows properly...
Any ideas?
Thanks in Adv.

Well, if the ram chips had gotten desoldered somehow then it wouldn't even get to the windows screen so its probably not that.
Did you check the battery? Does the device turn completely off or is it only the screen?

Replace the battery?
To try reflash OS. I think you install nocompartitible software or problem in memory chip. May be...

hi all
my htc touch elf (P3450) display turned to white with black patch at one place & some lines all of a sudden. it was working all fine. i was charging when a call came. i disconnected recieved the call. after that the screen turned white
Tried restarting but no result.
I can hear the notification of a message coming. but no ringing tone when i tried calling from other number
Please bail me out.

Hardreset could be the solution
not resolved
i cannot see anything on the screen except white screen with black patch.
i tried hard reset with imaginary screen but not resolved
i see no visible screen cracks
how to check if screen is crack?
It may be that the LCD is cracked, thats what it sounds like to me, anyways. Check the connector as well though to make sure it is all connected correctly.
The white with black patch does sound broken to me though (Sorry!)
Stu
Hi Stu, I just received my friend's ELF. His display turn white, but the device still be able to receive phone call. trying to enter bootloader, all I get is white screen with some black-horizontal-thin lines. Tried to hard reset, now it seems the device is on phone setup position so I can not get anything.
Is this LCD issue? Could it be broken? FYI, before this happen, there's already one dead pixel on the screen.
BTW...is it possible that upgrading to cooked ROM can bring LCD broken? may be, unsuitable ROM?
regards,
Bom81
Not sure if flashing a cooked rom would kill the screen - although I would say thats very unlikey.
It does sound like the sceen is broken, theres one way to find out - If you don't mind giving it a go - you could always try your screen quickly in his phone - I'd imagine you're fairly familiar with the internals by now
(I do have a spare screen laying around now - JTAG is no longer able to pick up my bricked elf at all - full battery etc how I was doing it no longer works - guess it is dead for sure now!)

Hahaha..LOL, Today I did want to put my LCD on my friend's elf. but I forgot to bring the opening tools to my office. guess I'll do it tomorrow and see how it goes. I'll let you know after my experiment with this thing.
A little bit Of Topic on this thread, I think so, your device has problem
so even the JTAG method will not be able to connect to the processor. Too bad you're in england, otherwise, the spare screen could be very useful here. LOL
UPDATE
ok..confirm the LCD is broken. I've changed the LCD with mine, and the device is working fine. i guess the dead pixel is the cause of the problem.
Should be able to find one cheap enough on ebay - I do seem to find it cheaper to buy another faulty one (maybe even bricked) as long as the screen is working
Need help on my HTC Touch
Hi Guys,
I really need your help badly. I have an HTC Touch (Elfin), I presume (128/256MB). The problem is i have downloaded the official windows mobile 6.1 rom and extracted the .exe file using Winrar. After which, i copied all the files to the sd card and renamed the .nbh file to ELF0IMG as instructed in the forum.
I put back the sd card and pressed the camera button and the power button at the same time. When it booted up it says reading from SD card and I can see that it is extracting the roms and ext roms. Afterwhich, there was a progress bar and then soon after a while screen turned to blue and then white. Currently now, as I am tying this the screen is still white. Please advise me asap in what to do? Thank you very much.

Ur display screen has been broke as simple as that..
Ok. Here is the thing.
I've droped my phone down, straight on the screen, no problems. 5 minutes later, when my brother was trying to play on it the screen turned white, with no stripes.
After 1 month i even forgot i had an htc, found it in my office drawer, and i thought of reinstalling the rom. But before that i pushed very hard on the screen, i took the battery out, pushed it in the battery space and after i started it worked like a charm.

[Q] htc touch hd - turning off itself

Hi everyone, I tried find thread with similar problem, but none was same, I have my htc touch hd around year, custom energy rom, everything working fine, last week first time phone turn off itself, I was just thinking maybe was me by accident, but today done already four times, there is no any problem turning on like different people said, no any stuck button, doesn't need to reset phone, or remove battery, everything working just fine.., never drop or hit to something, never split water on it, I tried reinstall rom to different, same, reinstall radio still turn off itself, most times when in pocket, please any advice or help...
many thanks..
looks like fresh SPL done job, phone if fine today all day, no more turning off..
Let us know how it goes after the fresh SPL. When my Touch Hd had the same problem as yours 1 day later it became non-resposive and got the BLACK screen of death. Lucky I had 1 day left for my warranty so I flashed back to stock ROM and stock SPL. I sent the phone to HTC Global centre for warranty repair and they replaced the motherboard.
for the moment going strong, already looks like battery life improved, and no more turning off..

[Q] Frozen phone, 7-vibrate when turned on - Help?

Ok, so here's the full story;
I dropped my phone a month or so back, and the LCD broke, so I bought a new LCD/digitizer on eBay. I've replaced screens on heaps of phones/cameras before, and this wasn't that challenging (HTC actually provide a video tutorial on disassembly/assembly), but now that it's all back together it has some serious problems.
The first time I turned it on it was fine - I went through WM6.5, booted into android no probs, made a call and turned WiFi on to test connections, but after about 15 mins it froze and I had to pull the battery. Now I cannot turn it on. most of the time, I turn it on and it brings up the very first splash screen for the ChuckyDroid ROM I have on it, but stays there. Occasionally it will load further, and VERY occasionally it will get all the way into WM6.5, but 90% of the time, it will turn on, load the first splash screen, then vibrate 7 times before freezing completely.
I've read about this problem on other phones, but haven't seen anyone provide a working solution. I am positive that all the assembly has been done correctly (especially seeing as people are getting it on their stock phones, HD2 included), and would really like any help.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
I think the motherboard has problem when you drop it. The device will vibrate 7 times if NAND error. Usually when the device gets hotter or warmer, NAND become unreadable. This is the error that many users have even myself.
To temporarily solve this, you can take out the battery, and put your phone in the freezer for 5 minutes, then take it out. Put the battery on. Then turn the phone on. It will work normally if the bottom part stay cold. So make sure you have a bag of ice to cool the bottom down while using.
Another way is send the phone to HTC and request a fix... cause this is motherboard problem.

[Q] Screen keeps black

Hi Guys,
i got a problem with my good old HD2: I flashed the SonyArcHD ROM on my device, it worked for a few weeks, but then, i did nothing, the screen went black. First i was able to "turn it back on" when i pushed it a little bit against the board, that worked for a few more days, but thet the screen went black forever. The background light is working, it even boots up(it happened when i just used it like elsewhen), i got even a haptic feedback from the unlock handle on the lockscreen, what means that it works perfectly "behind the black wall", but it shows nothing on the screen. Not even the bootloader. But the funny thing is, i never dropped it again, or damaged it anyways. It just hapened from nothing!
So has anyone a idea what i coul do?
Thanks, Jukpulfer.
Sorry for my badass english...
IMO you should check LCD to motherboard connector, maybe it is loose or dirty because of moisture/dust/whatever.
If no improvement(aka solved), I'm afraid you LCD is dying!
