[Q] Install android market apk on rooted aria - HTC Aria General

Hello, new user here. Anyways i figured how to root the aria (which is awesome) but i would like to have the android market on the phone so i can download certain apps that are located on the market. If anyone could help with a breakdown diagram, so that i might achieve this on my own. Thanks for helping!

Search the thread of the ROM you installed, failing that (which I doubt), ask in that thread.

[Q] Install .ZIP from Recovery on HD2

How is it done? i did a search and only found the question, anyone have the answer?
how can we install .zip on HD2 as you would on recovery on a normal device?
There isn't a way yet. But u could try unzipping the folder and doing it that way.

What is it that you are trying to install
i am trying to install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759990
it is a theme and it comes on the HyperDROID ROM so i know it works on the HD2
may i ask you reedit the title [HOWTO] -> [Q]
I think we cannot do it yet with our hd2s...You can only change the theme now by installing framework.apk. but I think getting the framework.apk from that zip directly won't work either...tried that before.

You should see if the theme is metamorph capable!
metamorph?
Its an app that allows you to add themes with out flashing. The themes just have to be compatible

I'm trying to figure this out as well. I'm trying to install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961
I'm hoping it will let me connect to an ad hoc network on mattc's sense 1.7 build.

Easy root access for (nand) HD builds

Here's a very easy way to gain root access to your Nand HD builds. Some have mentioned something called z4root from the market but every time i put that in search it couldn't find it. What i DID find was an app called Super Manager that works like a charm and has many functions such as task manager, apk manager, file explorer, and app back up. What you want to do first is go to settings(where you can access just about anything..shake capture, full screen mode, font size..etc.)then go to 'enable root function'. After that, you'll be able to go into root explorer..and enjoy.
If you can't find them on the market, you can always find them HERE
hey thanks lude. that page must have eluded me cause i had no idea it existed..probably because i never really checked the android only pages. i usually hovered around the hd2 android pages.anyways,thanks.i have one question for you..i hear allot about busybox but i'm not exactly sure what it is..or the magic behind it. could you explain?

Basically it gives you additional unix/linux commands so you can deploy different tasks at the root level. Similarly, it's like having a registry editor in windows for you to slice and dice around.
i cant remove apps from system
but titanium backup have root right
is this will help ?

I'm gonna give it a shot and report my findings then. Thanks.
Edit: I've gotta say this is definitely worth a go. Don't know if everything works as described, (such as app backup) but I'm definitely looking at my system files. I tried copying the miui music app into /system/app directory but it said not enough free space. Strange, but I will play with it some more tomorrow. Thanks for the find!

SYS App Unistaller will take care of the System Apps you want gone.??
EDIT::: Anything in Squash may have a issue. Not running a "Squashed" ROM so I can't test.
Doesn't hurt to try...

Droid X - Default

OK guys first off: This is my first android device, and I want it to be as fast as possible.
This being said, I just want either a DEFAULT Froyo 2.2 or default gingerbread 2.3 which means none of these stupid themes that motorola puts on it. Now here is why I'm here:
Is there a way without having to go through like 20 different steps in order to get the default android skin on my phone? I've jailbroken many a iphone but this android stuff is very new to me, so I was also wondering if there is an IRC channel I can go to or if someone would be nice enough to either guide me through or pm me through how to root my new phone?
thanks,
mike

I have been reading the stickies, I've also been reading about the roms and themes but there is some lingo in those posts as well as concerns.
For instance for the themes I've read several posts where it says to just load the themes on a rooted device, and yet others like the wiki here which says that specific themes are for specific ROMS.
Another problem with the stickies is I have no clue when someone last updated them, because some like the one for "Easy Root" or "z4root" MUST be old cause you can not find that app on the android Market place.
I just want to make sure that I'm getting the latest programs and such. I also wrote this because the one thing that me as well as a lot of other people want which is: Default Froyo. I dont want a custom theme, I want stock Froyo in all it's glory! Can anyone tell me of an easy to install ROM or easy to install theme that has this??
P.S. If there is an IRC channel for XDA could someone tell me about it? Cause I cant seem to find it at all

I have read most of that, and I get the first post, but then you seem to completely back track on the second one. I want the default Android skin from google on my droidx, so When you first said root I understood; but then you all of a sudden said that I need to deodex it as well.
This is the confusing part since you say in your post that it already included the root as well. So which should I do? root > bootstrapper > deodex? or just deodex then bootstrapper?
You have to be rooted, then flash the deodexed stock rom in recovery mode (hence the boot strapper). From there you can theme to your hearts content and even change the font if you wish.

Just because an app isn't on the market doesn't mean that it's old and no longer useful. And there are a million guides on how to do this. Just find a recent one and go for it
Alright I've done some more reading on different sites like engagdet and there seems to be a legal program called "LauncherPro" Apparently you can reskin with this program, Has anybody used this program? and if so how good / bad is it for removing blur?
My main concern is rooting my phone as well as getting rid of BLUR cause I believe that will slow it down considerably. thanks!
Unfortunately, launcherpro doesn't remove or replace blur, nor does it change things like the notification bar or lockscreen. Its a launcher app, meaning that it runs over blur, replaces the homescreens and launcher buttons. It's great for what it does but for your purposes won't work.
Honestly, I think the best route for you would be to take the time to root and flash a blurless rom like liberty or fission.

flyingpenguin is right.
Liberty is Blurless and you an install a Gingerbread theme on it straight from it's Liberty Toolbox app!
Check out my set up... I have Liberty 1.5 with the Gingerbread Blue theme and ADW Launcher EX.
What about the themes we were talking about earlier? Are those only available AFTER you flash to a ROM? Or are those just available after the deodexing? If so wouldn't that be the best and easiest way to get the stock froyo theme on my phone? or is that like launcherpro in that it just launches the theme over blur?
Also, I've seen your attachments and to be honest I don't like the look of it one bit, I just want a rom with stock froyo or even better stock Gingerbread.
Is there a rom out there with either of those stock? I should be getting my new droid x in the mail by next monday, at which time I'll probably be asking for more help, since I don't want my phone to brick the first day of use lol.
I used the z4 root on my dx. It took a couple of tries but it worked. I went with liberty 1.5 as my first custom rom and I love it. There are plenty of plain roms out there you can try. I just wanted something with a little more umph. Good luck!

well does liberty 1.5 come with the stock froyo skin? or is there a Gingerbread rom already out for the DX?

Liberty comes with a froyo-ish skin. There isn't a GB ROM out for the X yet, but droid2169 (same dev who does Rubix) is working on getting GB to boot on the Dx. He's getting close on it, but there are still some bugs to be worked out. Had some issues with USB mounting last time I checked with him.
The closest you are going to get to vanilla android is either focused or fission
What is this Vanilla thing you are talking about? Is that the name of a ROM that has default froyo / gingerbread them on it?
Also, I don't know if someone already answered this, but the themse people were talking about before: Are they available right after deodexing? Or do I Nhave to install a specific rom THEN theme my phone?
Vanilla means original android experience or as close to it as the kernel allows. That's how I understand it.

oohh ok
If you want to theme the stock rom you have to deodex your phone and then load theme... if you want to theme a rom you need to load the rom (which are already deodexed) then load the theme.... themes are rom specific ie an apex rom is meant for apex and a liberty theme is meant for liberty... there's guides all over the internet for any method you choose

[Q] Anyone want to make me a custom ROM?

I have tried searhing and I havent found anything like this, so I hope im not in trouble for asking...
Has anyone made or would like to make a custom sense rom with just a few extra apps?
The main reason I am asking is because you cannot access a file manager by downloading from windows to you sd card (you have no option to either download from Andriod Market or using the sync, which doesnt work for me)
Basically I looking for a ROM that is exactly like HTC Sense but has a file manager and a few other apps by default...
Like the ultra bright torch app and the you tube and Iplayer app.
You can alsways use roms that are already out there, but you usually loose the widgets the come with the stock HTC Sense, plus I miss the facebook streams.
Anyways, the main app it need installed is the superuser app and a good (free) file manager, anyone wish to help or comment?
Also, my phone is rooted with the HBoot 001 version, and I have heard roumours that if you upgrade to 2.2.2 then you can no longer root your phone, and since i am getting into hacking and rooting the widfire, I really dont want to loose the functions!
I hope this will start a healthy thread, as most of my threads dont!
Thanks, Keith
you can sideload apps from windows to your phone using sideloader machine for example
- If you are on HBoot 1.01.0001, you already are on Android 2.2.1 (There is no 2.2.2). While official 2.2.1 was not rootable some months back, after the release of AlphaRev / Revolutionary, it is possible.
- Apps can be installed via ADB also. One such guide is here:
http://voxigee.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/using-adb-to-install-applications/
And a Video Tutorial here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27HIDvjdUFM
- Also, Stock Froyo ROM with Superuser can be found here: (Get the Rooted Version). After you install this, you can install the File Manager using the guides above.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
- Lastly, for such a simplistic ROM Creations, you can use the DSIXDA Kitchen to cook a ROM yourself. Its easy, and you can add and remove exactly what you want.
Thread here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/dsixdas-rom-kitchen-for-htc-android-devices/
Good Luck
dude dont you like sense based custom rom. they are much like stock. but with most of the features of custom rom are embeded. there are also hacked ruu( rooted) availabe.
