I have done a search and couldn't find any similar threads, so if this has already been answered my apologies.
I am rooted w/ enrevoked3 and running stock 2.2. Every time I try to play a streaming video file, youtube or website, the video plays for about 30 sec and then says "sorry video cannot be played." I've reset to defaults in the browser settings and still showing the same thing. Issue was there before rooting as well.
Am I just missing something, or is it an evo issue?

That is not an Evo issue.
Sounds like your connection sucks.
Yep, bad connection. try viewing on wifi.
Just tested it on wifi and still have the same problem. Thanks though.

It's not an Evo problem, you may have something wrong with your software. Try a basic rom.
I have had this same issue. Any type of video file that I play gives me this type of error. I have even gone to the length of copying the videos in every format imaginable and putting them on my SD card and trying to play them off of the phone. It also happens when I am streaming videos from any website over any connection WiFi/3g/4g. So yes this is an EVO issue it just might be hardware related. I was having this problem before I rooted and no custom Rom or settings have been able to fix it.

Same here.. brand new stock..
Trying to stream video using BlueRSS and it don't work.
Can copy the vide to my SD card and it plays just find.
Done this same setup with my Hero in the past and it has streamed just fine.
Has no one come up with a fix for this yet ? It happens when I stream or have the files saved directly to my SD card. Happens on every file type. Wmv mp4 3gp any video file type. Does not to appear to be a rhyme or reason why it happens. Happens over 3g, 4g, wifi, and stored on SD card. Regular HTC video player, YouTube, internet browser, every video files does it. Some will play for 10 seconds to a minute. Then all give the error "Sorry, this video cannot be played"
Please can someone help.

When I get this message, I just keep trying. After 2 or 3 tries, it usually works.

Ok. It happens on HTC stock Rom with no root. And rooted. Also happens with frosts roms. Have tried a couple different versions of his roms but haven't had it work. I haven't tried any others. I would be willing to do that but I fail to see how if it won't work with either an original stock or a custom how it would work with any other rom.
It appears you don't have this issue yet your just trying to input your opinion. Well for the people this is happening to its very frustrating. And keep in mind I am no novice like most people are/ and some on here are. I am very advanced in IT and have tried all of the trouble shooting that I could think of to fix the problem. That being said if you have a Rom that fixes this and you have gone through it yourself please by all means enlighten us. If not please go somewhere else to post your thoughts. We are trying to actually come up with a solution to the problem not ridicule or talk "down" to the people experiencing the issue.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated if anyone else has fixed this issue with their phone.

I found a fix for mine that has worked for about 4 days with no problems so far. Of course not a fix for the YouTube app, but works for everything else I've had problems with. Downloaded dolphin hd and vplayer beta from the market. In dolphin, go to settings and change the user agent to iPhone. Then use vplayer to stream the video instead of the HTC player.
Worked for me, with airborne virus rom.

It appears that it may be the player that is not allowing streaming. Installed RockPlayer and I no longer get the cannot play video message and the video plays/streams... Give it a try.

I have also found that the latest version of vPlayer Beta now streams as well.
I am so happy!
The solution is to download Miren Browser from Market and set user agent to iPhone 4.

Thanks...this worked for me!!!!
Not sure if it's just me or not but I'm having a lot of issues with downloading files over the air using the stock browser. Files whether they be apk's,zip, rar or mp3 rarely download successfully. I always have to use firefox browser for the downloads to complete. is anyone else having this issue? I have already reverted back to stock kernel to see if that may have been the issue. Also another problem that I been having is a lot of my videos (.mp4) that use to play just fine in the native video player don't play back anymore. I just get a black screen of it trying to load and have to use moboplayer which is fine since moboplayer works great but definitely annoying.

Try accessing the videos using a file-explorer rather than using Gallery, so they start that way. Gallery can be a bit picky every now and then, especially if you move your files around a bit.
I have the same problem, it seems to me that direct links to file work ok (no matter what the file type is), but links with redirects don't work (it downloads the redirecting page not the file).
I have a strange problem. Whenever i try to play a video from youtube application it plays a different video. The same couple of video appear whenever i try to play any random videp. The title reads correctly but the video is wrong.???
I installed Galaxy rom hoping to resolve the issue but it is still the same.
Please help

I'd suggest calling a Catholic priest and have your tablet exercised, but I doubt it's a demon rearing it's ugly head in your tablet. Two different ROMs with the same issue on YouTube....it's most likely a YouTube glitch.
I installed the rom from stock a couple of days ago, and the phone restarts whenever i try to watch any video from the gallery, or a youtube link with the player
What i did so far:
Disabled hwa for youtube, restarted. The app doesnt seem to be working properly, it doesnt seem to be applying changes, though it unchecks the apps.
Installed Adobe Flash Player downloaded from adobe's site. Youtube keeps restarting, aswell as the gallery video player.
Installed dolphin mini, chrome and played youtube videos from the navigator. Still restarting.
Installed MX Player, set it to sw only, seems to work for local videos, youtube still restarts the phone.
A couple of things i noticed from other posts:
People that installed the rom from another version dont seem to have the problem.
hwa aplication needs to be restarted a couple of times, never showed adobe flash for the support.
I guess the problem is in a particular library, that doesnt get step over when you upgrade roms, and the issue could be a memory leak of some sort because all the players play atleast a couple of seconds of the video.
I cant post on developers, it doesnt let me till i get 10+ posts.
Anyone has any idea of what to try? Maybe pinpoint me to the library that could be the issue, and where to get it / replace it
Thanks in advance!
In mxplayer settings sw decoder set it for both local and for network.I've set it for audio too be sure.

Did that, but i cant get any youtube workaround
Any ideas about the libraries?
Well what i tried to get a workaround to this problem is this:
Uninstalled the youtube app, using a root uninstaller or whatever.
Set the browser as default to watch videos from the site, it works fine.
Downloaded MX Player, set everything to software, works fine, not great, but fine.
Another issue ive found is that the CPU governor or scalling freezes my settings whenever i try to change its type, i tried a couple of apps like setCPU, and the problem remains. I can live with that.
Ill post here any news i get from the phone, since i cant post on the devs thread yet
Workaround?
rm /system/lib/libstagefrighthw.so
(of course backup first )
This seems to provide a quick solution.
(With Deadline scheduler & HWA on...)
PS: By comparing 20130703 vs. 20130709 libstagefright.so as Quarx suggested few days back they are quite the same according to their sums. Differences are libstagefright_soft_aacdec.so, libstagefright_soft_aacenc.so, libstagefright_yuv.so, libstagefrighthw.so - on which *hw.so does for me...)
I'm having a strange issue on my HTC 10. It's an unlocked phone converted to rooted stock Verizon. When I play videos, it works the first time. Then, when I try to play another video a day or two later, the video program crashes. At first I assumed it was the VLC video app, but I have tried four different video players, and they all do the same thing ... they work at first, and then they crash later. Also, I can uninstall the app, reinstall it and it will work again for that session. Does anyone have any ideas on where to even start troubleshooting this?
